Hi Pradeep,
Have you read my following weblog.
Brodcast messages to logged on users in Portal(Part1)
Brodcast messages to logged on users in Portal(Part2)
the above is one alternative. You could also write a JDBC application that stores alert and then display alert when it finds it in the database. If you send an email at psingh(at)ust.net, i could send  you see this example.

  • Where are text annotation tools?

I'm using Reader 10 to edit a PDF that is enabled for commenting. The Adobe Help shows that there are 10 tools under "Annotations," but my instance shows only 2 (sticky note and highlighter). I can't find a way to add or delete text. How do I find those other text-editing tools?

Thanks, George.  The file is in fact enabled for commenting. The problem seems to have something to do with Acrobat versions. I post the details here, hoping that maybe somebody from Adobe scans this forum. I doubt that my experience is the intended behavior of Reader.
    - The file was sent to me by a client who enabled it for commenting (asking me to edit it).
    - I opened the file with Reader 7, and the file properties showed that it was *not* enabled for commenting.
    - A colleague who received the same file opened it in Acrobat Pro 10 and found that it *was* enabled for editing, as the client claimed.
    - I downloaded and installed Reader 10 and opened the file. The file properties showed that it *was* enabled for commenting. (Note that this is the same file that Reader 7 said was not enabled for commenting.) However, in Reader 10, only the highlight and note tools were offered (not any text editing tools).
    - So I moved the file to another computer that has Acrobat Pro 10 installed and opened it. Acrobat Pro 10 showed that the file is enabled for commenting and the full range of text editing tools is available.
In short, Reader 7 and 10 screwed up.

  • How to add a custom iview to the portal tool area

    Hello:
We want to add some simple text like date, day and some
more things to the portal tool area, where a KM search
box, and collobaration link exists now.
I tried to look up for the tool area iview par file, but
only found, *.ept file only which doesn't contain any
    code.
I hope atleast some of the clients might have tried this.
If you will you please shed some light on how to achieve
    this task.
Thank you very much in advance for the help,
    Prasad Nutalapati

    Hi Prasad,
    try to do this:
    1) download the par file of the standard toolbar. You can find it under:
    \usr\sap\P602\j2ee\j2ee_00\cluster\server\services\servlet_jsp\work\jspTemp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd
    its name is: com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par.bak
2)import it into eclipse with another name, i.e. com.customer.portal.navigation.toolarea
    3) modify as you need the jsp contained in it in order to satisfy your requirements.
    4) deploy the par into the portal and create a new iview based on it.
    5) put this iview into the framework page you want to use, hiding/deleting standard toolbar
these steps are OK if you want simply modify the layout of the toolbar, you cannot modify the logic behind it.
If you need to do that, for example add some buttons which perform some custom actions, you have to develop a new component from scratch using the portal development paradigms.
I hope this could help you
    Cheers

  • How to put a text in upper left hand corner for all the application?

I want to put a text in upper left hand corner for all the pages on application?
I don't want to put one page by another.
    Thank you.

If you put it in a region on page zero, it will be inherited by all pages of the application.. Literally in the upper left corner? Even the login page? You could also modify the template page that your using from your theme, so that all pages would have this attribute, whichever you are more comfortable with..
    Thank you,

  • Alert message in tool area with hyperlink to forum/km

    Hi all,
I'm looking for informations about the tool area customization located in the framework.
I've read that we could publish a message in the header about information or important notifications, but I did not found any hint  over ther internet nor in SDN on how to make it work (I'm not so experienced in portal dev).
I would like to do something very similar to SAP Marketplace for important events (maintenance, critical issues...): a warning message appearing at the top of the portal (in masterhead?) with an hyperlink to a document (km or discussion to put informations on the fly...) which appears only when messages are published (i.e. no link if no message is published, or an easy way to switch it off).
Any hint is welcome as tool arean is not documented at all...
           Pierre

    Hi Pierre ,
Actually there are a few ways to do it .
    1) If you want to put up message in Masthead , you will have to customize its par . You can insert a link , on the click of it you will get a Alert pop up(java script) showing the desired information . You can also put up a scrollable message in the masthead itself .
    2) If you want to put up a message in Page toolbar , then again you will have to customize its par . You can place a link there as well .
If you  place these messages in par , it means you will have to remove it every time from there and then redeploy on portal to bring these changes into effect . Instead you can also place these messages in portal database and query it to call it in the par files .

  • Acrobat 9.2.0 Update Breaks Text Box Tool, Possibly Introduces a New Security Flaw.

Anyone have any ideas for this one?
Once we upgraded to version 9.2.0 (This is a major security release that fixes a Javascript security flaw) our text box tool no longer works the way we want it and crashes the program.
    Try this:
    1. Open any PDF document on a  Windows XP SP3 computer with Adobe Acrobat 9.2.0.
    2. Add the 'Text Box Tool'  to the toolbar by right-clicking the toolbar and selecting 'MoreTools' then placing a checkbox next to the 'Text Box Tool'.
    3. Click the 'Text Box Tool' on the toolbar and draw a new textbox anywhere on the PDF document.
    4. Click out of the textbox to cancel typing mode, then single click back on the textbox that you just created.
    5. Right-click the textbox that you created and select 'Properties..."
    6. Under the 'Appearance' tab,
    a. Select Style: No Border
    b. Select Fill Color: No Color
    c. Check the box 'Make Properties Default'
    d. Click OK.
    7. Click the Text Box Tool again, and draw another textbox (Since there is no border you will not see it but you will still be drawing a textbox).
    8. Let go of the mouse when you are done drawing your textbox rectangle and the program will crash at this point.
    Results:
    1. "An internal error occurred." dialog box is displayed.
    2. After clicking ok the following "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" dialog box is displayed:
    "Runtime Error!
    Program: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe
    R6025
    - pure virtual function call
    3. After clicking ok another dialog box is displayed:
    Error signature
    AppName: acrobat.exe AppVer: 9.2.0.124 ModName: acrobat.dll Offset: 000509dd
    4. The same error has occurred on all five computers that we tested the new version on.
Expected results: A new textbox is created and you may start typing in text (This was the behavior in version 9.1.3).
    Additional Information
At times, we need to add information to PDF files (i.e missing dates, etc). We have always used the Text Box Tool to do this with no border, and with no fill color as this is the EASIEST and FASTEST way to add information to PDF files in a precise manner. We want the fill color to be transparent so that we can fit text in between and exactly on lines easier, and so that there is not a solid background box behind the text. We want no border because a border around text that needs to go on a line looks stupid. Up until version 9.2 this procedure worked fine. Now, the program will crash. Perhaps this even adds another security vulnerability if the crash could be exploited. We want to maintain security by patching Adobe to address the JavaScript vulnerability that was addressed in version 9.2.0, however, we are not able to update our users as the new version breaks the fundamental purpose that we use Adobe Acrobat for. We are stuck with the vulnerable version 9.1.3 until this problem is addressed. Disabling JavaScript is not an option either, as we use a Java plug-in on a daily basis.
Any thoughts would be great, I have attached screenshots of the errors.

The question still is not answered.
The problem continues in Acrobat 8.1.7 for Windows, even after updating toAcrobat  8.2.0. ( I can't comment on whether recent updates to Acrobat 9 fix the problem in Acrobat 9.)
The internal error after text insertion problem occurs even with PDF documents created in Acrobat 8, i.e., not only old versions of PDF files. We have the text box insertion icon in the toolbar, and the properties set to "no color" for the box and "0" width for the text box lines, as other commentators have noted.
The problem did not exist when Acrobat 8 Pro was installed, it was introduced by one of the updaters.
The main reason we use Acrobat, rather than much cheaper PDF-creation software, is to annotate PDF files (including inputting data into spaces in standard forms).
So justify the high price of Acrobat and fix the problem please, Adobe !

  • Text "disappears" when using text box tool

We are running Adobe Acrobat Standard vers. 7.0.9 inside Thomson Corporation's GoFileRoom vers. 6.0. When using the text box tool to add comments to a pdf, the text within the text box "takes on" the color of the background of the box, making it seem that the text has disappeared. The only way to see the text is to edit the text box and change the font color OR to view the contents of the text box in the Comments section. How do I resolve this? Would appreciate any help.

I am having the same problem. Both with text boxes and text in the actual document. Do you think it is GoFileRoom related? I never made the connection but I wouldn't be surprised. It seems worse when different versions of Adobe are used. Some have ver 7 and other ver 8 but we are all using GFR.
    Have you had any help?

  • Adobe Acrobat 5.0 - Text Free Tool Problem

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 5.0 on my office pc.
When I use text free tool to key in the text, the letters are not visible.
Therefore you will not able see letters when you start typing or keying in the text box.
Is there any solution? Pls help......

I was successful in installing AA5 in Win7 Starter as a test. It works except that I changed the printer port to file (AcroTray or the Distiller Assistant of AA5 does not work in Win7). You can open the files that are created in Distiller to create PDFs. You may be able to use watched folders to automate the process to some degree.
I suspect that your question is more of having problems reading PDF files in AA5. That is a different issue. It is not a Win7 compatibility issue, but one of needing a newer PDF viewer. I have AA5 on one XP machine that I use Reader X on for seeing the newer files. I do have to deal with some conflicts between AA5 and ARX, but I can deal with that (many folks lose there minds on that).
There is one other option that might be a major problem. Many folks are getting Win7 on 64-bit machines. In that case, you will have to be sure AA5 runs in 32-bit compatibility.
At least that should give you some ideas of what might work. If a 64-bit machine, you may definitely have a problem -- I never tested that combination.

  • What happened to the "Text Edits Tool" in Acrobat X?

I know the answer is "it went away" but, seriously, please bring it back. In Acrobat 9, when you activated the "Text Edits Tool," it would automatically switch between insert, delete, and replace text in a context-sensitive way. You just had an active tool cursor - if you highlighted text and started typing, it would "replace" the text. If you clicked in one spot and started typing, it would "insert" text. If you highlighted text and clicked the Delete key, it would "delete" text. All this with one tool, that stayed active the entire time you were using it.
Now, in Acrobat X, you have 3 different tools. You have to click to select the tool - mark the change. Click to select the next tool and mark that change. And on and on. And while you can right-click on any single tool and select "Keep tool selected" - there's no way to make that the default behavior. And that doesn't help when switching back and forth between activities.
I know that the Selection Tool can now almost serve as the old "Text Edits Tool" - this works quickly with delete, but requires the tilde shortcut for insert or replace. Basically one extra step for each edit than there was with the Text Edits Tool.
One might think that that little extra click isn't a big deal - but when you are marking up a PDF all day, every day, it adds up.

I assume you're talking about commenting and markup rather than editing the text of the document itself.
The keyboard shortcuts are  designed to do exactly what you want. With the multi-select tool active (I beam + black arrow on the toolbar):
Select some text and press the Insert key - a new Replace text annotation is created and the note panel opened for typing. Press Esc to close the note
Click to place the cursor within some text and press the Insert key - a new Insert text annotation is created and the note panel opened.
Select some text and press the Delete key - a strikeout annotation is created (no note this time but you can add one by double-clicking)
The idea of selecting something and 'just typing' to activate a markup event could not be retained as it interfered with the single-key accelerator mode.

  • Facebook is not loading properly and all my text and images are lined up along the right side of the page. How can this get fixed to the way it use to be?

Facebook is not loading properly and all my text and images are lined up along the right side of the page. How can this get fixed to the way it use to look?
Everyone who logs into Facebook on my Firefox has this problem however if we use Internet Explorer - facebook looks normal.

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause issues like you described.
    * Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

  • Collaboration Room Link on Tool Area  Bar. Possible?

    Hi All,
we have collabration rooms which dispays under My rooms for a particular user. Now a user wants to access a single room from somewhere Tool Area iview so that he need not have to navigate to next page for My room iview and then access.
We can do that by changing the URL link of help option with room URL,so that he can click on Help on Tool Area and acees it.But how can i change the name from HELP to some other.I think its not possible?please Confirm.
Is there any possibility to add one more link same as HELP
somewhere on Tool Area and give Room URl to access the room.
    Or anyother good option.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Rani,
    to 1:
You wanted to know how to change the name "HELP" in the toolarea iView, because as you correctly said, to change the link you only need to change an iView parameter. So only for the label "Help" you need to touch the PAR file. But actually I was misguided by your text, cause the Help link is in the masthead iView and not in the tool area, so you need to change the text in the localization files <b>headeriView_nls(_XX).properties</b> located in <b>com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead.par</b>
to2: For achieving that the links are only visible for some specific users you need to implement some additional logic in the <b>ToolAreaiView.jsp</b>
Hope that answers your doubts and your question,
    Robert

    Damodhar.

    Hi Damodhar,
The Tool area iview has to be there in Default Frame work page. But if some how u lost that then one thing i can advice there is a par file in the server com.sap.portal.navigation.toolarea.par.bak,Go System Administration>> Support>>Portal Runtime>>Browse Deployment>>WEB-iNF>> Deployment>> pcd, import that into ur NWDS and delpoy it to the server. Make an iview based on it and put that iview in the frame work page in its postion.

  • Is there way to put single text line in each response via WL configuration.

              Hello,
Our partners are using SunOne server and
they can easy include P3P policy file to each response via server configuration.
Can we do it with WL?
We have more than 3000 JSPs to modify.
I think filter will slow down our site.
We already put P3P policy in well known place but browser can't find it
Is there way to put single text line in each response via WL configuration.
              Thanks,

The quickest approach that comes to mind is
    a. create 3 separate titles in the Titler (Text Menu/New Text/Default Text)....
    food, goes on Video 4
    routes, goes on Video 3
    hostels, goes on Video 2
Arrange them so that when viewed they are viewed as
    hostels
    routes
    food
    b. Move hostels (Video 2) to where you want it to start in relation to
"Today I am going to talk about travelling in the North of Scotland and give advice on how to get by. I will talk about the best value hostels " - the word 'hostels' appears first at the top right of the screen
Move routes (Video 3) to where you want it to start in relation to
"I will describe the best routes to take" - the word 'routes' now appears under the the word 'hostels'
Move food (4) to where you want it to start in relation to
"And finally, I will describe the best places to eat traditional Scottish cuisine" - the word 'food' now appears under 'routes'.
    c. When all that is done to this stage, it might look like this...
Now to arrange and drag out track content so that we see
    hostels
    then hostels + routes
then hostel + routes + food
when they are supposed to appear in conjunction with the video's dialog.
The final workspace should look like
Please give this a try. And, do not hesitate to let me know if you need clarification on anything described.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thank you.

My sim tray is locked, and whenever I put the sim eject tool in the hole beside it, it will not open, what should i do?

Use a small thin piece of plastic (metal tools are likely to scratch the case)  and work along the seams of the tray. In all likelihood your tool is unlocking it but the tray itself is a bit gummed up, jammed.  Be patient, don't force things, and you'll probably get it open in short order.
