Putting Album Art On By Album

I'm putting the album art on the cd's i loaded myself and wanted to know if there was a way to do it by album instead of song-by-song. I know how to get the art and put it on for each song but it's so time comsuming. Is it possible to load it by album?

Or just do it the easy way, without selecting anything:
-Open the Browse menu at the top of the Library.
-Open the Album Art panel, and change it to "Selected Song" by clicking on the top of the panel until it reads that.
-Select the album you want to add art to in the Browse Menu up top (rightmost side). You can narrow the list of albums by picking a Genre/Artist first, of course.
-When you select the album, all the songs in that album will be displayed. Without clicking on any of those songs, you can drag and drop the album artwork onto the album art panel and it will be added to every song you see in the list. You must not select any songs, however. If you do, then it will only be added to those songs that you selected.

how do i put album art with a song?

In iTunes go to Edit>Show artwork and a pane will open below yor source list. Click on the song you want the artwork against then locate the artwork file you want to add and drag it to the pane. You can find many more iTunes "HowTo" tips here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/howto/

  • ITunes 10.4 can't put album art

Ever since I have updated my iTunes to 10.4 on Windows, it won't let me put album art on my songs or get it from iTunes either. It just shows a white or black box. Anyone know what the problem is?

Well. My first efforts to search for a solution were poorly executed, because I tried again and found lots of answers.
The problem appears to be using a Wacom driver. See the discussion here and (same thread) here and here. No idea when that will be fixed. I use a 8 or 9 year old Graphire, and drivers have been a problem for most of those. Sigh.
But this experience also made me learn that you can right click to add selections to a playlist.
I even learned how that first column works, which I never knew before.

  • How Do I put Album Art into my music files for Zen V Pl

I have a Zen V Plus and don't know how to put album art on songs that are already on the player...
Please Help MeMessage Edited by kmn755 on 2-03-200706:47 PM

You have to append the artwork to the actual music files themselves. What I do is search Amazon.com for the album that the songs are off of, click the artwork so it expands and then right click the larger artwork and COPY.
Then in iTunes go into "get info" on the song, and paste the artwork in the artwork tab. This will append it to the file. Yeah yeah i know it isn't technically legal to "copy" the artwork but I honestly don't give a rat's a$$ about doing it and neither should you.
(...cue finger-waving "shame on you, you're breaking the law" post...)
Then once you transfer this song you put the artwork on to your nano, it should show up there when you play the song. At least this works for me on my 30GB iPod video.

  • How do I put ablum art on my Z

I just bought a ZEN 2gb recently, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to put album art on it. I know it's possible though, because one (just one) of my songs had album art for a bit, until I resynched and then it was gone. I've tried using WMP and MediaMonkey, but neither are working for me. Any idea on how I could get album art onto my ZEN?

Album art can also be embedded into the file itself as an MP3 ID3 tag, which is a good idea if your music files on your comptuer aren't well organized - by artist, then album for example. Or, if some of your folders are just random songs. Storing the art as part of the mp3 file itself is probably the best way for your situation. If one JPG file in your library is called folder.jpg, it will be picked up as the art for other files in that folder too.
You'll need to find and use some software that let's you edit the ID3 tags, including, adding album art. This page is a good description of the MP3 ID tag standard : What is ID3v2?
You'll need to invest some time cleaning up your files' tag info and will need some software to do that. Media Monkey is one I use and recommend. The article here talks about the Album Art part of the standard music file tags known as ID3
[url="http://lifehacker.com/software/album-art/alpha-geek-whip-your-mp3-library-into-shape-part-ii-+-album-art-23476.php">Whip your MP3 library into shape, Part II - Album art[/url]
Basically, you point media monkey to your music library and it allows you to choose each song or album in your collection and edit the ID3 elements of your songs, including, track name, genre, artist, and album art. I don't have experience with WMA files as all mine are MP3, but I think you can use tagging software to insert ID3 elemetns to WMA formats too.
After the files in your computer are cleaned up, synching them to your Zen again should now bring across the updated info, including the Art.

  • Can I put album art on MP3s?

It shows it on iTunes but not on my iPod.
I don't know if it's only for AAC or only for protected AAC from the store.

You have to add art to imported CDs manually, and a
little further down in the post I explained how.
Under some circumstances, iTunes will somehow acquire album art automatically for imported CDs. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out what those circumstances are.
Here's what I know. When I brought over a bunch of MP3 files I had ripped on Linux using grip, and imported them into iTunes, some of them ended up with album art.
Later, I reripped all of those files from the original CDs using iTunes. I ripped them all as Apple Lossless, and then (after archiving the lossless files onto DVD), converted them to AAC in iTunes.
Result: some of these ended up with album art and some did not. There is no evident pattern to which ended up with art and which did not. In particular, some of the ones that DID get art when I imported them as MP3 files did not get art when I ripped them with iTunes.
Other people have also reported things they've ripped mysteriously ending up with album art.

  • Can I use itunes to put album artwork on the Zen

I use itunes to play music on my comp and I was wondering if the artwork I have saved in itunes will work on the Zen M.

I know I can't use itunes as a transfer program. Ok let me reword it. I have been using itunes for like 3 years now, and I just get all of my album artwork from that. Will the artwork be on the Zen after I put the music on it using their software?

  • ITunes acting weird regarding putting album onto iPhone 5

    Hi all.
So here's my problem, which I will elaborate more if the title of this discussion isn't clear (which probably isn't):
I have an album on iTunes that I was trying to put on my iPhone 5 today. I had it on my phone for a while, then I can't see it on my phone but iTunes says I still have it on my phone. I tried playing a selection from the album from my phone via iTunes but an exclamation mark appeared next to the selection (and the remainder ones after trying to do the same thing). I then tried to put the album back into my phone but it wouldn't allow me, saying that "iTunes cannot add any songs to (my phone) because it already contains the songs from the album", which is not true at all because the entire album isn't even on my phone.
I have the latest version of iTunes if that helps. Also, I don't have iTunes match, and I don't plan on having it in the near future.
Is there a way to resolve this, or is it possible to delete the invisible album from my phone?
Thanks, and I hope I made this issue as clear as possible!

No such thing as a *simple few clicks with the iPhone* period! You cannot use your music as a ring tone. If you buy a ring tone from iTunes (or anywhere else) make sure it's under 30 seconds long or else it wont work. ( I just wasted .99 on a ringtone that was 1.43 long and can't use it ) Then if you do manage to finally get a tone synced to your iPhone you'll soon discover that it *REMOVES* all your music from your phone! Tried putting my music back and it removed the new ringtone!  I'm personally dealing with this issue now What's worse is what you have to go through to make the new purchased ringtone useable on your iPhone. Like, renaming the music file from *m4a* to m4r* It's a total PITA and I'm ******!!!
As for adding individual pictures to your iPhone. I can't help you there because I've yet to figure it out. I've had an iPhone for 2yrs now.

  • Putting Albums in chronological order?

I was wondering if there was a way to get iTunes to put the albums of the artists in chronological order, rather than alphabitical order. The way I like to have my CDs arranged in my CD case is alphabetically by artists, and if the artisits has more than one album, I want those in the order that they were released, and I just can't seem to find a way to do with with my music on iTunes. Suggestions?

Like you and PT, I also have my (physical) CDs sorted by artist and the albums in chronological order.
iTunes can only set to sort on one column, but sometimes sorting is done on multiple criteria, so iTunes is capable of sorting on multiple columns.
If you sort on artist or album and have tagged the tracks with track and disc numbers, iTunes will also sort on these criteria.
Unfortunately sorting on multiple columns by the user, is not implemented.

  • Putting albums in order

How come when I put new music on my ipod it doesn't always put it in alphabetical order? For instance I put Jimmy Buffett on there which is a two disc album. It put disc 1 where it should be but disc 2 is at the end. I have outkast albums mixed up all over the place. Is there a way to put them in the order I want manually? The problem is on the cover flow option.

At a guess, disc 2 of your Jimmy Buffett album will be marked as a compilation. Sort order is essentially Album by Artist with artists ordered A-Z, then numbers & symbols, then compilations. Select the tracks and set Compilation to No. If you give the discs the correct disc X of Y numbers and exactly the same album title then they will appear as one album rather than two covers side-by side.
The Outkast albums will be scattered about because they feature guest artists or at the very least a varying selection of artists creditied in the Artist field. You can fix cover flow either by setting the sort artist value of each track to the album artist or you can add the artist info. to the track name, e.g. *Title (Feat. Guest)* and set the artist of each track to the album artist.
The other major cover flow issue is that it treats all albums with the same title as one album. If you have a number of Greatest Hits albums you will find the tracks of ALL of your Greatest Hits albums listed when you turn any of them over in clover flow. This can be fixed by giving each album a unique title whenever there is a clash, e.g. *Album, Artist*.

I have the latest version of itunes 10.5.1.  I have just recently put a song onto my itunes and downloaded a pic for the album artwork. When I try to copy the artwork to it, it doesn't stay at all.  When I go to Get Info and the artwork tab, it shows the artwork.  But for some reason when I play the song, the artwork doesn't show up.  Is there anybody out there could help out with this issue.  Thanks.

Ok so, now apparently, when I close out of itunes and re open it, the album artwork is there now.  Weird.

  • Is it possible to put albums by name into a playlist instead of a list of individual songs?

I'm creating playlists on my IPod Touch but when I move an album into the playlist all I get is a list of the songs. I'd like to be able to select the name of the album from the playlist. Is it possible, and if so, how?

    Shane B,
I have the same model iMac with the same problem screen.
It's the LCD panel that is defective,(at least in my case).
You can validate this by getting a mini DVI adapter to connect the iMac to an external screen and test it on your HDTV or on any external screen.
Get the proper adapter from Mini DVI to what you have on the external screen or TV (HDMI, DVI, VGA)
and a cable to connect it and see if the image on the external screen or TV is OK.
In my case, my iMac was sitting on a shelf for two years before I thought of trying this.
I am now using it as a media server linked to my HDTV.
I ended up opening the iMac case to disconnect the LCD so I would not have to look at the ugly defective display sitting right next to my HDTV.
