Putting DVD's on iPod.

Anyone know how to put DVD's you own on the ipod. I have found programs to convert them and put them on but they are always a free trial and i cannot get the whole video on. If anyone knows of any free converters that would be very helpful! Thanks!

I get same problem, but I don't get circle with slash thru it I get plus sign like it should work but it still doesnt appear in the ipod. In library if you right click and if the Convert for ipod appears and you do that it takes a long time to work, but the point is I already converted the file to MPEG 4 so I dont understand why I had to convert again. I bought an outside software called ipod converter that might have been a waste of money....it should be simple...

What exactly do I need to do to put a dvd onto my Ipod?

Since importing a DVD to your computer involves breaking the encryption on them and doing so is frowned upon, we cannot discuss such things in these forums. Sorry. Google will be your friend on this one.

  • Is it possible to put DVDs on my iPod?

Is it possible to put my own DVDs on my iPod (Like taking music from a CD)?
    Gateway   Windows XP

its a felony because you are "breaking copywriter laws" for putting your own DVDs to YOUR ipod... i know the ppl in Washington are idiots but itunes wont complain cus now you gotta go buy it(again) from them... well all i can say is if i were you i would go to lazlow.com a listen to his clip where he talks about it and explain why its illegal...
so dont do it! but it isn't illegal to know how to (yet, he talks about that in a diff clip) so look for the clip ok

  • Putting dvds to my ipod

i need help really bad! can someone suggest a free program that i can use that will put dvd movies onto my ipod and that is relatively easy to use? like is there a program where i put the dvd into the computer and then like click a button and it saves it to my computer in the right format and puts it in my ipod. thanks to all that help me

You have to decrypt the DVD. Google DVDFab Decrypter. As for converting the DVD to iPod compatible format, Google Videora iPod Converter.
Hope this helps. (Sorry, I was a bit lazy on this post, but I'm really tired, and just wanted to attempt to help one last user before I went to bed.)

Hi-I assume by "DVD" you mean a video. If so then I am having the same problem. I am a new user (Christmas gift) and have manged to place a CD on my ipod but no luck on the video.

  • Is there a way to put DVD on my iPod 5th Generation w/out getting a ripper?

I just got a DVD and a iPod with video. How do I get the DVD on the iPod without burning a copy or ripping it or whatever.?

    Try this:
    I had the same issue, however I used this program to transfer ...avi,mpg,wma..etc...;
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
    If the program is used the converted files will be in a folder called;
    C:\Program Files\videoraipodConverter\vodeos
I'm pasting this from the Videora site, the settings worked for me when others didn't, enjoy:
    Configuring videora converter
    0) Start Videora iPod converter.
    1) Click setup in the left nav.
    1.5) Click the profiles tab.
    2) Click new profile.
    3) Now, configure that profile:
    profile name: ipod
    in the video settings section...
    mode: MPEG-4 > CBR
    resolution: 320x240
    passes: one
bitrate: 768 kbps (384 kbps also works)
    framerate: 29.97 fps
    in the audio settings section...
    bitrate: 128 kbps
    sample rate: Input
    channels: stereo
    4) Click apply to save the profile.
    Now, you're ready to transcode.
    1) Click convert on the left nav.
    2) Click the transcode new video button.
    3) Pick your source video. Mine was an AVI from a torrent.
    4) Under quality profile, choose "ipod", the profile you created using the steps above.
    5) Click start.
Now you're ready to get the video on your ipod
    1) In iTunes, under the File menu, select add file to library. Find the transcoded one. By default, the transcoded videos pop out under the Videora install directory.
    2) Drag and drop to your ipod.
    Questions/observations:
    1) I haven't been able to get H264 anything to work. Is it broken? How much smaller than MPEG4 is it?
    2) 768 kbps video was about 400 megs/hour; 384 kbps video was about 231 megs/hour. I could readily see a difference in video quality.

  • Putting DVD's into IPOD?

Am I able to put a DVD's content into my IPOD? I tried placing a DVD (from a DVD ROM drive). I downloaded the content onto my Laptop (INSPIRON 8500 - I know, I should of bought the Mac) I can play the DVD on my lap top, but when I put the content onto the hard drive- I can't read it.
    HELP
    Thanks!
Inspiron 8500, G3   Windows XP Pro

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (which iTunes uses) don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio. DVDs will be muxed.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).

  • How to put DVD directly into iPod?

    As above.
    Thanks

I havent found a good freeware program yet. I used DVD shrink and it worked fine but it put the file into seval parts.
I have heard DVD decryptor is a good one but the project was shut down so you can only download it through a file sharing network suchas limewire.
I havent gotten around to doing it yet so I dont know how good it is
