Putting files back on computer

I have a 20 gig. ipod. When my computer crashed I lost all my songs. Is there a way to put the songs back into my library from my ipod?

First, you'll need to prevent iTunes from automatically syncing with your iPod and deleting everything off of it.
To do that, follow these steps:
1 - Open iTunes.
2 - Connect your iPod to your computer.
3 - Basically as soon as your iPod begins to display "Do Not Disconnect", begin to press and hold the Shift and Ctrl keys on your keyboard together simultaneously.
Continue to hold these keys for about 20 seconds after your iPod is showing up in the Source List in iTunes.
After you've done this, click on your iPod's name in the Source List, and under the "Summary" tab, tick the "Manually manage" option for your iPod. Click the “Apply” button in the bottom-right corner to save your changes.
Now onto the transferring.
There are a few different ways to copy your iPod's songs to your computer, but probably the most straightforward method is to download a third-party program that can copy the songs from your iPod to your computer.
I would suggest that you try YamiPod. It's free, and I've heard it recommended a lot.

If the OS X 10.2 on the hard drive is/was bootable, try this -
Restart or boot, then immediately press the X key, keep it held down until you know the machine has started to boot using OS X. This is a hardware instruction to the Mac to boot using the first usable instance of OS X it finds.
Once booted to OS X, you should be able to move OS 9's System file into OS 9's System Folder.
Note - in general, unless you know for sure what you are doing and that the results are desired, do not relocate or rename files in OS 9's System Folder or in OS X's System or Library folders.

Network-- being able to put files on another computer

I can acquire the computer over our network and take files off the computer in question but I want to be able to put files on the computer. It is acting as a storage computer. We are within a firewall.
What do I need to do? I am the administrator.

Some of our teachers use Nearpod to share presentations on student iPads. Might work for you too...
You could also share files or folders with your board of directors using a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive.

adobe) and password and from there from file section you can download the converted document. Please let me know if you are using other than ExportPDF
service. Also i would like to know workflow you are using.

Put files back on after reformat!?

I reformatted my Zen Micro with PlaysForSure. Then I tried to put my contacts back in so I made a file called "My Organizer" and put the files in there. However my Micro won't find the files; it just says tells me to sync my items with Outlook My Outlook files are different than my ones I had on my player. I have the contacts for my player saved on my computer. But it won't let me sync them, only the ones that are on outlook. And like I said, if I just put them in the folder it doesn't see them
Also, it won't let me put my playlists or Audible Audiobooks back on my player; it says "Not a recognized media type"! Can you please help me? Especially with the contacts, though, because I can re-make my playlists.

Putting music back onto computer then onto ipod

I recently had to wipe my hard drive clean. I backed up all my music from Itunes onto an external drive. After I resolved my computer issues I then downloaded itunes and put my music back into itunes from the external drive. I downloaded a few new songs as well. I went to sync an ipod and only the new songs loaded onto the ipod. All of the songs are in itunes but the old ones won't play, I can't edit them in any way and they didn't load onto the ipod.
I hope I am clear on the problem I am having and hope someone can help.

Do you not have a backup copy?
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases
You can also do a forum search, as this asked and answered several times a day.

My hardrive just got diagnosed as 'faulty' even though its only 1year8months old!!! I had adobe bridge installed on the computer with many picture files that included raw images. How can I get these raw files back after computer died?

If it is only 20 months old it is still covered by the 3-year Applecare.

Why did you, as a photographer, not make several backups, not just one or a partial one, of your material?

Backed Up to External HD, Now can't put files back to C drive

Before my daughter's computer went in for service, I backed up her Itunes to an external HD. Tonight I moved the "Itunes Music Folder" from the ExHD to C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Administrator\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music, which is where the "preferences" tab says her music is. However, the music in this folder isn't what is on her library when I pull up the library on Itunes.
I tried to consolidate her library, thinking it would "all come together", but it didn't do anything. There has GOT to be an easier way to get this in the library than to copy each folder individually into the library, isn't there? Any assistance is appreciated!

Sounds like the music is back on the C drive, but iTunes does not know about it. Use the command File > Add Folder to Library, and point it to the iTunes Music folder.
(For future reference, next time copy the whole iTunes folder. It includes the iTunes Music folder and also the library files that would tell iTunes where the music is.)

Lost my Hard Drive and putting files back on Hard Drive

I went to my website and FTP the files with FileZilla FTP. Now that the files are back on my hard drive, how do I get them back on my Dreamweaver CS5 area.

Do as SnakeEyes stated, you will have to set-up a new site(s) with dreamweaver. Go to Site/New site and set it up.
Under:
Site
Site Name"what ever you want to identify this site
Local Site Folder: This is where the files are on your local computer
Servers
Remote Server: This is the information from GoDaddy (ftp, etc)
Testing Server: What you are using for testing, could be GoDaddy
One that is completed, then it should work.

On a follow up, once you get this set up correctly, go to site/manage sites/ export the settings and store it on a flash drive, burn to disk or someplace off your computer to save these settings. Anytime you change the site, repeat so you have the most current information.

Cannot sync iTunes U files back to computer Library via iTunes

I recently upgraded my computer with a new OS and now I'm trying to sync my files from my iPhone 4 back to the computer. For the Apps I was successful using the File/Transfer purchases from option. This worked great for Apps. When I try to use the same process for transfering the contents of iTunes U files from the iPhone back to the library in iTunes on my computer it doesn't work.
Is there a different process for these files or what am I doing wrong?

Hello eddymc100, I did a bad thing with my PBG4 when I reloaded by start up disc but did not "save" data. So lost photos, tunes etc.
I did find an application called TouchCopy of which I downloaded a Trial which allowed me to copy only 100 song back from my Ipod. I think they sell the "proper" software which will allow more freedom.

Time capsule putting files back in trash

I have been having problems with the time capsule getting stuck on preparing back up. I managed to trash the partial backup and get it working again. Now every time it does a back up the trash fills with back up files and then empty's again when the back up is finished. Never had this before. Any ideas what's going on.

Here is the update: The backups are there, it is just that the Favorites folder links are broken in Time Capsule. I'm not sure why this is happening and how to relink those favorite folders to actually work when using them in Time Capsule mode.

I had a problem where I had to remove all of my picture, movie, and music files from my computer and now that I've put what I moved back onto my computer, I went to sync my iPod and realized that all of my previously downloaded apps and music files are not showing up in iTunes and I haven't been able to locate my apps anywhere. If I sync my iPod, will the files on my iPod transfer to iTunes or will I lose everything? I paid money for a lot of those apps and I don't want to risk losing them. Help please!!

You can transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can transfer non-iTunes purchased music by using a third-party program like one of thse discussed here:

Mackeeper moved my files to my trash so i pulled them out of my trash to my desktop it has copied them to my desktop as well as kept them in my trash!!

Remove "MacKeeper" as follows.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.

from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Failure to remove MacKeeper will result from neglecting any one of these points:
Quit MacKeeper before dragging it to the Trash.
Don't empty the Trash after dragging the application to it. Let MacKeeper delete itself.
Don't try to drag the MacKeeper icon in the Dock to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this stuff is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.

Restore from the last backup that predates the unwanted changes.

hello there thank u so much for ur reply!! ok i uninstalled mackeeper now and the put back option is still in grey im so confused...i tried restarting my computer like u said and put back still in grey??!! the files that are in my trash are everything from Accounts,address book plug-ins,address book,adobe,aim.........then stuff like apple,Audio,....to caches color pickers,colors,com.apple.TCC,to DVD player to facebook,google to ilifemedia browser to itunes to keychains to movie effects,preferences printers to skype...my Native instruments files BUT not all of them my garage band but not all of it...it seriously looks like my whole library is in the trash i tried to put things back where i THINK they belong and it just added the item or folder under where i thought it went and didnt restore functionality to for instance google chrome and all my book marks are there....they seem to be only certain things from my library that would have added some functionality to apps and programmes like my garageband is missing stuff photobooth wont work so on.......kinda looks a bit like this thats only the half of it!! I had to reformat my computer and put my Itunes on an external hard drive. Once I fixed my computer and put Itunes back I can't itunes to open on my PC. I see it but it appears locked now.

I reformed my PC and placed my Itunes on a external hard drive. I have moved them back to the PC but can not open. How are i get my Itunes working I can see them in my files but they are locked.

I'm sure when it was taken to reformat, he just put everything from my computer onto the external. I know he did't save them to any back up disc's. When he moved everything back is when I lost my Itunes library and it only shows as that XML. I do have an old back up I can restore most.
Any way to import from my touch what is on it, I have not connected it to my PC since.
I did get all my music purchased on, but under purchased I can't find my movies.
