Putting files from folders puts them up in corner, Lion

If I open a folder and remove a file to place it somewhere on my desktop, it immediately flies up to the top right corner of my screen, half-way out of view.
It took me awhile to even discover that's where they went and I kept having to open them with Spotlight.
Once I delicately pick the file out of the corner with my pointer I can place it wherever I want on the desktop.
This happens whether I'm using hotcorners or not, no matter what view.
Anybody else dealing with this? Only since installing Lion...

i tried to rebuild my files from folders that had the pics in them.
Exactly what did you do and how did you do it? this ay be the cause of your issue but without details we can n=ony guess

By default your iPHoto library is located in your Pictures folder and is named iPhtoo library - if tha tis not the case the you have moved or renamed it and only you know what you did until you tell us the details
I went to time machune and tried to find the file but I can't find it or I am looking in the wrong place.

I cannot put files into folders after the update. The app crashes dramatically. Please fixed it otherwise it is useless.

If you used migration assistant then it probably created a new Login user and placed the migrated files under it.

How do I share files from Windows Vista to a Mac with Lion OSX? I'm having SO much trouble with this! Any help would be appreciated!!!

In a finder window, under 'shared' you should be able to see the windows computer name, click on it and connect to it. I am assuming here you have sharing turned on and permissions granted on the windows computer.
Will add a note though, I have frequently accessed files from a PC on the LAN using XP, not vista.

Automator put files in folders.?

I have a folder of movie files some within folders and some without folders, I would like to put the files without folders in a individual folder with the folder name corresponding to the movie filename is this possible to do in Automator?

You can get a couple of third party actions, or you can use a Run AppleScript action, for example:

Problem with reading files from folders - please help

I have 2 folders (folder1 and folder2) on 2 different locations. Now i will say few things about my program.
First folder is input folder. Different applications generate XML files and put them inside folder1.
Then i have my application which i use to manipulate with those folders. Basically, i have 2 threads. One is checking if there are files in folder1 and other thread is moving manipulated files from folder1 to folder2.
I face this problem. XML files are much faster generated then manipulated. Example: for every 3 incoming files into folder1 i have 1 manipulated and stored file into folder2. This way i face problem that some older files are never manipulated, they are stuck in folder1 basically forever.
Could someone help me to solve this problem? I do not know how to select files form folder1 ordered by "date modified time".

You have to get the classname of the Items you receive from getitems.
There you have only to look for Folder.CLASS_NAME. Example:

Unable to add files from folders

I am having the strangest of issues. Whenever I try to add some particular folders via the "Get Photos and Videos --> From Files or Folders" command, It will not let me select certain folders for importing. Kinda hard to explain, so I made the flash video below.

As you can see, every time I try to click on "2009-4" it selects a different folder and the folder tree goes nuts. Even after bypassing it by tying in the folder name, I still cannot add the photos.
Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated. My computer is running Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 on Windows 7 32bit, as shown below.

Well the only workaround is to, type in the name of image or you can drag and drop the image in the organizer.

Copy only files from folders and subfolders

I need a help.
I have issue with too long destination part, so I want to use some script or command, to copy all files (just files) from all folders and subfolders to one destination (one specified folder).

How to put file from a legacy system to SAP through FTP

I want to put one file which will be comming from legacy system to a folder of application server of the SAP system through xi.The protocol i want to use is FTP.
But im not sure about the configuration to be done for putting the file directly to SAP app server.
Anybody having idea what configuration i need to do in the SAP side to put the file into the app server directly through FTP.

Cannot put files from mac formatted ipod onto pc

i have an ipod that is formatted for mac. i don't have all of the original mp3 files for my music on my computer and need to put them onto a pc. i used a program (podutil) to get the music off of my ipod and onto my mac, then i wanted to move them to my pc. the files will not copy -- incorrect syntax.
is there any way to make these files play on a pc?

First thing: Are you sure you have all the music you want to put in the PC? Then, if you have some Files or Folder in your iPod copy them to your mac. Once this done (and verified) Restore your iPod, but this time ask the Restoration Programe to format the iPod in Windows Mode and enable the Disk Use (I can't remember how it's called).
Put your music and files back to your Windows Formated iPod and then plug it into the PC (with iTunes installed).
Now you'll be able to see and use the files.

Anyways, the first thing you can do is transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod Touch to your PC. To do this, choose File -> Transfer Purchases in iTunes. You should authorize your new PC before doing this by clicking the Store drop down menu and selecting Authorize this Computer. Then enter in your Apple ID/iTunes Store account credentials.

Finally, right->click on your iPod Touch under the Devices section in iTunes, and choose Backup. Then after erasing and syncing your iPod, restore from that back up. Or better yet, copy a backup from your old PC to your new one if at all possible. Here is more information on backing up and restoring your iPod .

Moving files from Applications turns them into aliases

I am running OS X 10.7.4
I'm having an issue where if I try to move any files out of my applications folders they do not truly remove from the application folder and just show up as an alias.
I'm going through a game patch load right now and some of the instructions for this patch tell me to remove a couple of folders from the game's application folder for the patch to work correctly. I try to just move the folders to my desktop for temporary keeping and they just turn into an alias, leaving the original folder in it's application folder.
I can confirm this happens with anything inside of my applications folder, so it's not locked to just one particular application. Is this some kind of a permissions issue? How do I disable this?

It's because you are not the "owner" of the Applications folder nor its content. That is owned by the "system" and requires special permission to change. The result is that when you try to drag an application out of the Applications folder it instead turns into an alias. This is different behavior from Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X. It is related partly to security concerns and partly to other changes in the OS witht he release of Lion and Mountain Lion. I don't know specifically why this change nor why in Mountain Lion the behavior is somewhat different - the file is duplicated rather than moved.
You cannot disable the behavior. You can circumvent the behavior. One way is to select the application then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Move To Trash from the context menu. Now open the Trash and drag the file to the Desktop. Another alternative for your game program is to install it in an Applications folder inside the Home folder. Another is to drag the folders out of the game's folder and to the Applications folder.

Erasing Duplicate files from folders... not from iTunes....

I want to know if I can locate (using a program or just my Mac) all the files that I have deleted in the past from iTunes but for some reason are still on my hard drive. It is a pain! And when I edit the name, artist, and genre on iTunes they do not change in their folder location.

The behaviour of PSE that you're noticing is as designed, because of the concept of "permanently accessible storage" versus "removable media storage".
I think you're making this a little more complicated than it should be. If I understand what you want to do, it's this:
Use the server as the permanent repository for the "good", "finished", "final" versions of your photos.
Have the photos on your notebook's HD so you can work on them at any time.
Have an Organizer catalog on your notebook PC so you can tag photos, etc., at any time.
Do I correctly understand your request?
If so, it seems to me that the best method of working is this:
Use the concept of the server being the "main" repository for your photos, and your notebook PC as having "working" (or "in progress") versions of your photos.
Use MicroSoft's free SyncToy utility:

to maintain synchronization between your server and your PC for the photos. Doing so will allow you to keep whatever directory structure makes sense for you.
Create a new catalog on your PC, pointing to only the photos on your notebook PC.
