They aren't encrypted.
You simply need something to RIP the DVD to your hard drive.
Have you tried using TiVoToGo? This allows you to connect your TiVo directly to your computer. No need to burn to DVD to get it on your computer.

  • Home burned DVD keeps kicking out

I have a recent 2010-2011 iMac and so does my sister.  She burned a DVD with hundreds of photos on it in iPhoto and sent it to me.  At the time she was given a prompt that it would be a Mac-only read.  I pop it in mine and it thinks for a few minutes.....never shows up on the desktop....then kicks it back out.
I've put in a DVD movie and that plays fine.
Any ideas?  Was it the way it was burned?  I can see the imprint on the back of the disk so there appears to be something on it.

Yes, it kicks me out of Safari and Maps. Both are web apps. A really large page in Safari seems to kick me out most frequently. (Ironically, the Engadget in depth iPhone review is particualy bad in this regard.)
I have been kicked out of iPod but only when I was running Safari. That could be a coincidence, or not. Too soon for me to tell. But I can watch a 1 hour video podcast without interruption, so I suspect it is the web connection that is involved.
It recovers gracefully from these crashes, but they happen fairly frequently and it is still frustrating. I assume this will be high priority for thm to fix.

  • Converting home burned dvd's

i was wondering if anyone knows how to get dvd's i burned on my dvd recorder on my ipod. i use videora, but it doesn't work for some reason.

Imagine that "Videora" not working. You and half the world. Never touched it. When I saw that it was "patched" together from other freeware programs (ffmpeg and AVISnyth) I knew it was doomed. Go here and get one that works by a company that knows what they are doing.

  • Burn dvd to video ipod

I am new to this and I was wondering if anyone can help me in burning a dvd to itunes so I can download it to my ipod.
    thanks,
    Scott Herrman

I think you need to use a software like Handbrake that can rip the DVD into iPod size format and then you can load it to your iPod.
    Try this - http://handbrake.m0k.org/

  • Why doesn't itunes have an simple upload option for putting CDs and DVDs into my ipod touch library?

I have movies and CDs I don't want to have to purchase again through itunes that I would like to put on my ipod touch without a lot of complicated hassles. I don't understand why it isn't a simple point and click and it happens option on my itunes library list of options. I have four kids and a ton of work and don't have time or expertise to spend figuring out how to make that work by reading through manuals. I don't see the point in buying the same music or movies or books twice. I work in a job that allows me to listen to my ipod while I work. This is a huge perk for an otherwise tedious and boring job, but I don't have time or money to spend buying extra movies or reading a ton of technical information trying to figure this all out. If they can do all the other stuff they do with an ipod touch I don't see why this request should be a serious challenge.
I took a guess on my operating system. I don't know. Do you see the huge list of operating systems? That seems like a lot. It seems to me that everything should be compatible with everything else or people like me that expect to be able to do what other systems can do get really frustrated and irritated when we realize that we can't because capabilities and limitations where not emphasized in the advertising.

HA! I'll add it to my favorites bar... then maybe I will be able to find it again. I just hope I can remember the password and username. You know that they aren't secure unless you change them every six months. Do you realize how many different computer systems and programs I have to engage in work and for personal use?! How in the heck am I supposed to remember all my passwords and usernames?! Oh, and it's not safe to write them down... especially with a bonehead like me that has too many irons in the fire and can't remember where he put his keys!

  • Can't mount home burned dvd-rw

At one point things were fine. I could mount my dvd-rw with .avi files on them. I had burned them myself and could watch them with Quicktime & flip4mac. Now the dvd's won't mount. The Mac says they are blank dvd's. What is up with that? I am trying this on the PowerBook G4.

David Pogue wrote about this, he's had trouble with DVDs being that age (4 years & under) not reading anymore! try a different computer - newer mac or PC, if one is available to you.

  • PUTTING MY BURNED DVD BACK ON IMOVIE

I have made many dvd's and moved the movies to trash after burning. Can I import them back to Imovie or Idvd

Yikes, the DVD compressed it a lot and lost most of the original resolution. Even if you could , it would look pretty bad and it would be a single file not the iMovie peices style.

  • Trying to watch a home-burned DVD on my Mac Pro.

When I pop this DVD in (which works fine on Windows), the Mac Pro freezes and I get a message in 4 languages saying I "must restart" by holding down the power button. Once I do this, and restart it, I get the same freeze/error message. Any ideas how a dvd could cause this?

  • Is it possible to put DVDs on my iPod?

Is it possible to put my own DVDs on my iPod (Like taking music from a CD)?
    Gateway   Windows XP

its a felony because you are "breaking copywriter laws" for putting your own DVDs to YOUR ipod... i know the ppl in Washington are idiots but itunes wont complain cus now you gotta go buy it(again) from them... well all i can say is if i were you i would go to lazlow.com a listen to his clip where he talks about it and explain why its illegal...
so dont do it! but it isn't illegal to know how to (yet, he talks about that in a diff clip) so look for the clip ok

    OS X 10.6.6 Snow leopard.
Hi there, I have been experiencing this problem on and off with various media types (originally I had issues burning to any disc - cd or dvd- I upgraded to Snow leopard, and the problem was fixed).
Now i'm having issues READING home-burned DVD-R's, DVD-RW's ( I avoid using DVD+R's). Commercial dvd's load fine. I can burn to blank DVD fine. I have cleaned the internal DVD drive with a VCD cleaner, and tried resetting the SMC (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964).
I use an LG dvd recorder at home. The discs I use are SONY DVD-R and DVD-RW. These play without error on the LG dvd player.
However when I try to load the burned discs into the mac, the drive makes a whirring sound and spits out the discs within 10 secs. These are new discs with no scratches etc. I have tried setting the CD&DVD system prefs differently (opening the dvd in disk utility, finder etc) to no avail. I tried both finalizing the discs and un-finalizing them on the DVD player.
This is driving me nuts as I am a film student and need to access my burned dvds!
note: I recently had my computer serviced in the last 6months as the hard-drive failed (I live in Christchurch, NZ and the computer was damaged in the Sept 2010 quake). The comp was relatively undamaged in the more recent Feb 22nd 2011 quake, but because of the shaking, could there have been substantial damage to the internal disc drive in this case??
any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

    • Avoid the top five disc-burning mistakes:
    http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/print/9005547/Avoidthe_top_five_disc_burningmistakes
Not sure what else may be the cause of the issue; but if there's
a chance of other hardware damage after an earthquake, it
may be wise to have someone check over the computer.
{I've asked this post be moved to the Intel-based iMac forum, yet the issue
is likely a generic one not limited to a build model vintage of computer. My
    name's avatar is of the representative PowerPC iMac G4, of this forum area.}
For general disc burning, I use a small free-ware utility that makes it clear
what I may be getting; of course it makes quick work and the other methods
function correctly on my Macs... see http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/ and use
it with the setting for it to make discs that will work in Mac + PC. Worth a look.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Dvd ripping to put home dvds onto ipod video

ok so i was told to use "decrypter" and so i went to google and typed it in and it came up with a few results
    the first one was:
    DVD Decrypter
so i click on that and this is what it says:
"This software is no longer available, this page is stored for archival puposes only.
On 24th of November, 2005, Macrovision Europe contacted AfterDawn.com, notifying us that they have acquired full rights to the DVD Decrypter software and have changed its licensing terms. Effective immediately, they have decided to withdraw all distribution rights from all third party companies, including AfterDawn.com. Thus, distributing DVD Decrypter is now as illegal as it would be to distribute cracked copies of Windows operating system or pirated copies of games."
ok so first off what does my trying to put dvds on my ipod have to do with pirated movies and games?
    anyways
    the second result was:
    DVD Fab Decrypter
so i click on that and this is what it says:
"This software is no longer available, this page is stored for archival puposes only.
On 1st of January, 2006, a new copyright legislation came into force in Finland that made it illegal to distribute tools that allow circumvention of technical copy protections. The legislation was approved by Finnish parliament and was based on European Union Copyright Directive, a law that each EU member state has to implement to their national legislations"
So basically how the heck do i get dvds on my ipod using decrypter if it's now illegal to use it?

  • Is theRe a. Way to put my own dvd movies on my iPod youch

Is there a way to put my own DVD movies on my iPod touch?

Are these home-made movies or commercial? If commercial we cannot discuss here
For your movies, you can use handbrake to create a file (there ia an iPod Touch preset) and then import into iTunes and sync over.

  • Burn DVD with iDVD6, try to put it back in to play/burn, spits it out.

Hi. I'm having a disc-spitting-out problem and I hope you guys can help.
I burned my own movie in iDVD 6, it worked fine, it ejected the disc when finished. Then I put the same disc back in to make a copy, but the computer spits it out before the disc can even be recognized on the desktop. This seems to be a particular issue with iDVD-burned discs, because other DVDs are accepted by the drive just fine. And the DVD that's getting spit out works 100% properly in my home stereo DVD player.
    Any suggestions? I'd appreciate it.
    (The media I'm using is cheap: GQ-brand 16x DVD-R).
    G5 dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1.5g RAM

Thanks for sticking with me to figure this out, you guys.
DVDs burn fine on cheap media. They'll play in my home DVD player. They won't, however, insert back into the computer to be copied in Toast.
I just burned a Verbatim data DVD-R in Toast (as opposed to the copy function I've been using), and the computer spit that out.
I also rummaged around the house for other-brand DVD-Rs. Turns out my computer will accept a Sony DVD-R and a Fuji DVD-R (printable) and not spit them back out after data's been burned to them. But why not the Verbatim since everybody loves them? I guess I should just go with what works and buy my third spindle of DVDs in as many days.
Also, I zapped my PRAM thinking maybe that would help. I ran disk verify and repair on all my connected drives.
Is my superdrive particular sensitive? It's a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D. I think it's 2x -- I have the dual 1.8 G5 machine that came out right before they started shipping with 8x drives.

  • I want to use my home dvd player to burn dvds/cds onto my MacBook Air. Please help!?

I want to use my home dvd player to burn dvds/cds onto my MacBook Air. I have an hdmi cord with thunderbolt connector. Where do I go from here?

Apps for OSX aren't in iTunes: they are in the App Store in your Applications folder. The payment method is the one registered in iTunes. There's no app actually called Yoga Studio, though there are several Yoga apps. There is an iOS app called Yoga Studio but it appears to have no OSX equivalent, though I haven't done a detailed search.
