Putting iCal appointments/meetings on my Outlook calendar

My daugher (and soon my wife) use the Mac/iPhone combo. My office requires us to use outlook. I want to have a family calendar where they can send me "meeting notices" (swim meets, playdates, etc) and have them show up on my work/Blackberry calendar.
Is there a way to do this short of major surgery?

Ken Abbott,
iCal published calendars use the iCalendar standard. Outlook 2007 and Vista's Windows Calendar are supposed to be able to subscribe to these, but I am not positive of the steps to do so. This article on Microsoft's website may be useful:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101673251033.aspx
You will need a place to publish the calendars to. Currently iCal supports publishing to .Mac or to a WebDav server.
Subscribed users are able to view only published calendars. Additional features have been announced for iCal in Leopard, and can be seen here:
http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/features/ical.html
Hope this helps,
Nathan C.

Hello Schimi. The Time Capsule is a kind of product that offer you two possibility:
    - To use the TC as a router or as an external HD.
The difference between WPA and WPA 2 are:
    - They are two kinds of internet connection.
WPA uses dynamic key encryption , which means that the key is constantly changing and makes the invasion of a wireless network more difficult than WEP . WPA is considered one of the highest levels of wireless security for your network and is recommended if your devices support this kind of encryption . Newer routers offer WPA2 security . WPA2 is compatible with WPA , but offers higher security level . In fact, it meets the high standards of many government agencies . If the router and computer support WPA2 , this should be your choice.
If you need any help or if you find some difficult setting up it you can contact Apple Support.
I am sure that they can help you with that.
I am sory for the delay. I holpe that you solve your issue.

  • How to retrieve appoinments from outlook calendar efficiently

I can now successfully retrieve different appointments/meetings from different outlook calendars thanks to the documentation provided online. The only issue I have with is its efficiency. The application could handle 100 users and I believe
that the application would run slow.  See the sample code below.
    service.AutodiscoverUrl("USER EMAIL", RedirectionUrlValidationCallback);
    FindItemsResults<Appointment> appointments = service.FindAppointments(WellKnownFolderName.Calendar, new CalendarView("START DATE", "END DATE"));
    //check each appointment
    foreach (Appointment app in appointments)
    "DO SOMETTHING WITH THE APPOINTMENT"
If you need more details please let me know.
    Thank you in advance

Another option would be to use the GetUserAvailiblity operation
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/hh532567(v=exchg.80).aspx this won't give you the same level of access to the calendar appointments as FindItems but it will return basic calendaring information for 100 users at a time in one op.
    Cheers
    Glen

  • Can I sync an Outlook calendar on my iPhone to iCal

    Hello,
My work uses Outlook for our email and calendar. That syncs with my iPhone in real time very well; my workplace uses MobileIron. I would like to take the Outlook based work calendar in my iPhone and sync it with iCal at home. I tried it analog (docking the iPhone and sync'ing with iCal using iTunes). The personal iPhone calendar came over to iCal, but not the work Outlook calendar. Is there any way to get the Outlook based calendar from my iPhone to iCal? Mobile Me? Another 3rd party app?
    Thanks for your thoughts.

I was able to sync Outlook to Itunes and it worked fine under version 4.2. When I upgraded to 4.3, I can no longer sync. Apple is working on it. What is interesting is my 2 phones will sync with each other thru Itunes and change the Outlook file, but they don't show up in the Outlook calendar, the upgrade setup a hidden calendar in Outlook. They way I know this is the save date for Outlook change after a phone sync, and the only thing I am syncing is the calendar.
I know this wasn't what you asked, but can you tell me what version of Iphone do you use. Especially if it is 4.3, I would like to discuss further.
[email protected] if you can help, I am getting despirate. I can't find a way to go back to 4.2. I have an open case with Apple.

  • TS1347 when syncing my iphone with my Outlook calendar, a few days appointments did not show on my iphone calendar while other days did. I have done this several times in the past, and this is the first time I've had any troulbe

when syncing my iphone with my Outlook calendar, a few days appointments didn't show in my iphone calendar, but other days did.  The appointments show in my outlook calendar.  I have done this many times, and this is the first time I have had this kind of trouble.  Any idea what has caused these appointments to not show?

Why start a new and very similar thread to your other one which you have not responded to (have you read the replies?)
I suggest that no response is made to this duplicate thread.

  • Outlook Calendar Sync Frustration

Ok....I've done it all. I've reinstalled....numerous times...earlier iTunes versions...operating systems...reduced my pst files to less than five appointments, none of which are recurring...rebuilt pst files....you name it, I've done it. My Outlook calendar still does not sync with iPhone/iTunes. I get the "outlooksyncclient.exe" has encountered a problem and needs to close..." error message. I'm inclined to subscribe to the point of view I saw from one poster that PocketMirror/Palm figured it out, Apple should be able to as well.
What really appears to be happening is that one of the two add-ins that iTunes/iPhone requires isn't being loaded. According to Apple documentation, you need "iTunes Outlook" and "Outlook iTunes Sync" add-ins. I only get the iTunes Outlook" add-in from iTunes, no matter what version I install, reinstall, deinstall, reinstall, etc. One would think that if "syncing" is the problem, you'd want to get that second "Outlook iTunes Sync" add-in loaded and seen by the OS, no?
Even when I was with a VERY good tech at the local Apple store, he didn't want to touch the issue that the add-in wasn't being loaded. To be fair, he saw it on the computer (haven't been able to locate it myself, but I saw it when he ran a registry list), but somehow it's either not being activated OR seen by iTunes. Seems to be a key player here, but the tech could only report the issue to tech support...leaving me in the dark since there is no way to follow up on the progress of the report to tech support.
Am I alone here? For a smart phone/PDA, not syncing with what is probably the most used corporate contact management software's calendar is, well, not very smart (especially right out of the gate on this cutting edge tool).
I'm not complaining about the phone features. It's LEAGUES above any phone I've seen. Having an iPod on board is just bonus. The Map widget is great too, especially linked in with the contacts (...which, by the way, seems to sync fine with Outlook...). But come on...if you can pull all that off, what's up with not being able to do the calendar? Want to lose the majority of sales folks out there that could truly benefit from this product? No sweat, just don't put a priority on fixing this Outlook calendar sync issue.
I'm posting this because I have a feeling that if I don't, and no one else voices this opinion, it won't be addressed....and this would be a shame since this product has so much immense potential.

Try this. Forgive me as I am not at my work computer but expericenced exactly the same problems.
Go to edit your email account and assuming you are using outlook 2003 since I don't 2007 you will need to find the dialog box that says something to the effect of send your information to your personal documents. It is a drop down menu within settings. You will then need to close outlook and open it again. Try syncing your iphone and this worked like a charm for me.
To sum it up your mail, contacts, and calendar entries are curetnly being stored on your work server. Iphone doesn't like that. When you tell outlook to store these items on your personal documents they then are stored on your hard drive and Iphone loves that. When I first tried doing this I noticed that I didn't have the option to send these items to my persnal files so if that is the case for you you will need to create it by clicking add and just pointing to personal files.
    I hope this helps.

  • My Outlook calendar items won't show on my iPad

I am not very tech savvy. I use Outlook 2010 on my PC for all my calendar appointments. In other words, I enter all of my calendar appointments via Outlook 2010 on my PC. I want them to show up on my iPad Air as well. My iPad Air says the only way to sync my calendar is via iCloud, I can't do it via USB cable and iTunes sync. It also says it will happen automatically. Except it's not. The calendar is not syncing. None of the current or past appointments that are on the Outlook calendar on my PC show up on my iPad. Why is this? How do I get it to sync? I have gone everywhere, in iCloud, iTunes, on the iPad and in Outlook on my PC and I can't see anything that will make a sync occur.
What specific settings do I need to check or enable on either the iPad, in iCloud or on my PC to make the appointments on my PC Outlook calendar show up on my iPad Air?

Thanks, Sooner Al, I had read those support instructions before posting here and did not understand them. What nothing in there says is that Outlook has two versions: an Outlook data file version (My Calendar) and an iCloud version.Or maybe the support instructions say this but in a techhie way that I could not understand. Anyway, iPad will only sync with the iCloud version. The Outlook data file version will not sync to iPad. So, any appointments you enter using the Outlook data file version (My Calendar) will not sync to iPad. Also, you cannot copy appointments from the Outlook data file version to the iCloud version, you have to manually re-enter everything into the iCloud version.
I cannot use the iCloud version because it will not communicate properly with my clients who use Outlook and who constantly send me appointments. It's important that I be able to accept or decline these appointments in Outlook and the only way I can do this is to use the Outlook data file version. The iCloud version will not communicate back to my clients properly.
I dont' know why you can't just connect the iPad to iTunes on the computer using a USB cable and manually sync with Outlook like I can with my iPhone 4s. This works perfectly for my phone. Stupid that you HAVE to use iCloud with the iPad.
For anyone else reading this, I have found third party software that will copy all appointments from the Outlook data file version (My Calendar) into the iCloud version and allow them to sync with iPad. It is called Code Two Sync for iCloud. You can Google it for reviews, the download link, etc. I downloaded this and installed this and it did exactly what it was supposed to, and all of my appointments showed up on my iPad. However, there were a bunch of duplicates. I'm sure there is some way to fix this. The bigger issue for me is that I have an older computer that is having hard drive issues and the Code Two software crashed Outlook, so I had to uninstall it. However, maybe it will work for other people.

  • TS3999 How can I put my appointments that were removed from my Outlook calendar to iCloud BACK on Outlook calendar?

I wanted to try iCloud, not realizing it would REMOVE my appointments from Outlook and not COPY them...I want them back in Outlook

    kfrenchie wrote:
I was looking for more of an answer like, uninstalling iCloud resets things back to where they previously were, but I guess I'm dreaming
It should, but unless you have a current backup I would not rely on it.
I know how to copy and paste in general but I'm not real familiar with doing it between calendars...I was just getting used to Outlook calendar and the installed iCloud.
Right click on an appt, from the secondary menu decide whether to move or copy to another calendar, it's easy, but slow.

  • Transferring outlook calendar events to iCal....automatically?

My employer uses Outlook to arrange all meetings. While I have a Windows machine in the office, I happily own a Mac at home.
I can access outlook appointments via Web Outlook, but would much rather be able to download this info straight into my iCal calendar - and see my work and social calendar at a glance.
Although I realise this seems to be a general problem - does anyone know if there's a way of getting events from web outlook to iCal - better still automatically?

I'm using Outlook2Mac to import Outlook calendar information into iCal. However, it doesn't work in the other direction - for which I'm still looking for a solution.

  • How to subcribe to a published Outlook calendar in iCal

I use MS Outlook for work and iCal for my personal calendar.... I use my iPhone for business and personal use. I can't use MS Exchange on my iPhone to sync my Outlook calendar without it overwriting my iCal appointments.
I have published my MS Outlook calendar [privately] and want to subscribe to it in my iCal, but have been unsuccessful.
Do I need to work-around it somehow by subscribing to it from Entourage, Google, Yahoo! etc first then subscribe to that calendar? I'm game with any work-around; whatever will work, I have tons of appointments I need to track that are business and personal. Using MS Outlook directly for any personal use is out of the question.
Bottom line - I want my MS Outlook calendar (work calendar) merged with my iCal (personal calendar) so I can have both on my iPhone.
Thank you in advance for your help!
    Erica

Have you ever gotten an answer to this question? I'm researching new phones. I'm trying to merge and globalize the whole shabang. And I'm like you -- Outlook at work, iCal at home.

  • 2007 Outlook Calendar not sharing all events when saving it as iCal and sending to an iphone

Found a way to sharing Outlook Calendar to an iPhone without syncing. I save the calendar as iCal format and then send it to the person to open it on his smart phone. He opens the file, adds them to his calendar, and can see only certain events, not all
of the ones i can see on my computer. Before i started working here, there were 2 other calendars i had to merge so i can have just one. All the items I've added, show up (appointments, calls, etc.) but the ones that were done before me are not showing up
like birthday reminders once i share them.
    What am i missing???

    Hi RPMM,
According to the description, I suggest double checking whether we select the "Full details" instead of other options. Pic as below:
I have tested on my Outlook 2013 + Exchange 2013, it works well.
There is no limitations of the save as ICS feature in Exchange 2013 server. It seems an issue on the Outlook 2013 client side.
Since Exchange Online is different from Exchange 2013 server, if this issue related to Exchange Online server side, I suggest creating a new thread on the Exchange Online Forum so that we can get more professional suggestions.
    For your convenience:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/msonline/en-US/home?forum=onlineservicesexchange
If it still not works unfortunately, I suggest exporting the calendar into .pst file for testing as a workaround.
    Hope it is helpful
    Thanks
    Mavis

  • Sync Outlook calendar on iCal on a different computer?

Forgive me if this has been answered in another thread. I did a search, but I couldn't seem to find anything that answered this question specifically. If so, if someone could kindly direct me to it, I would greatly appreciate it!
Here's my set-up: I currently have a work-issued MacBook (for work), a MacBook for personal use, and a personal iPhone for both work and personal use.
On my MacBook (10.9.3) for work, Microsoft Outlook (Outlook: Mac 2011) is set-up as the email client, and I use the calendar in Outlook to view all of my work-related appointments.
On my MacBook (10.9.3) for personal use, I don't have Outlook for email, and I use iCal for all of my personal-related appointments.
On my iPhone, I use the iOS mail and calendar apps to view all of my personal and work related appointments in one place. Which is great!
So my question is, is it possible to view my Outlook calendar (on my work-issued MacBook) on iCal on my personal MacBook?
I use iCal daily to view all of my appointments, and it would be nice to see everything (personal and work) in one place (other than my iPhone). I know I can do this on my WORK-ISSUED MacBook by simply setting up my personal iCloud account to iCal, and then import from Entourage (I've done that before)....but I would rather not have my personal calendar on my work-issued laptop. And for security purposes (as well as personal preference), I can't have Outlook and my work-email installed on my personal MacBook.
So....if anyone knows a way to make this work, that would be fantastic!
    Thank you!
I just found this, which is SORT OF what I'm trying to do: https://discussions.apple.com/message/8324761#8324761 ...HOWEVER, the question was marked as SOLVED for some reason, even though the response didn't actually solve it. This was back in 2008...eek. I hope someone has figured it out since then!

    Thank you so much.
