if you go to the ipod updater, you can click restore, but you will lose all your settings and music.

My iPod touch is not charging, nor is it syncing with my commputer and iTunes. It will charge on the wall charger, and in the car, but not on the computer. My wife's iPod Nano syncs on the computer. I went in and reset my iPod Touch back to factory settings and now it will not let me get in unless I sync to iTunes on my computer. Well, it still will not connect thru the USB cord. Does anyone know what I should do to get this corrected? I want my iPod back.

  • How do you put it back to factory settings?

How do you put a 7 year old desk top Mac back to factory settings?

You must have the original install discs. If you don't have them you can order a set from Apple for a small fee. You'll need your serial number. If you have your discs post back and we'll instruct you how to erase and reinstall back to factory spec.

  • I had to put my ipod back to factory settings, It crashed and now is saying to connect to itunes but when I do this it wont detect my ipod? How do I fix this?

I really need to get this fixed

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Does anyone know if I restore my Ipod back to factory settings, will I be able to resync everything that I have saved on my computer?

I synced my Ipod to my parents computer and now about half the apps I had don't show up on the Ipod.  They are on the computer, but I can't see them on my Ipod.  There are also pages showing on the computer than are not on the Ipod.  It's confusing.  Anyway, I want to restore it to factory settings since there are several issues I seem to be having.  If I restore it to factory settings, will I be able to sync it to my computer at home and be able to retrieve everything I have purchased and downloaded over the years since it's all saved on my home computer.

Yes.  Yu have to just ensure that the iPod is signed into the iTunes account(s) that purchased the apps and other stuff and you have iTunes et up to sync the stuff to the iPod.  You will loose however, any app data you have.
BTW, you can always redownload app at no addition cost.  See:
How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store

  • MY iphone 5 do not start after putting it back on factory settings

Which button combination do i have to push for restart my iphone on factory settings?

    Hello Viktor,
I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not powering on.  I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this.  I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • I was just sold an ipad 2, they put it back to factory settings but they never took it off of their account. they claim they dont know the password to their account anymore so now i have a useless ipad. does anyone have advice?

    please help

If the iPad has Activation Lock - that is, it's asking for the previous owner's Apple ID and password to activate the device - then you will need that information, or you'll need to get the previous owner to remove the device from his/her iCloud account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2702
If  the previous owner is unable or unwilling to cooperate - and the claim that they "forgot the password" is very fishy given the multiple options available for resetting the password to an Apple ID - then the device is unusable by you. Return the iPad for a refund if you can.
    Regards.

  • IPOD TOUCH UPDATED BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS

My computer broke a few months ago, it had all 6000 songs that i had downloaded from CD's and songs people had sent me of their recordings etc etc.
It had my full library on and i know apple updates every time you plug your ipod in and so any changes to the library will also be made to the ipod.
I then found out you can add songs using a different computer without the ipod wanting to update to only a few songs using the new library. Very happy all 6000 songs still on there and could easily update with new music without losing all the old stuff.
Today 03.05.2012 i have just tried to add a few songs, the itunes wanted to update to the most recent update, fine, clicked okay then next minuite my ipod lights up and it also says its updating.
Message "You ipod has now been reverted back to factory settings"
Great, lost all my music, pictures, videos and apps.
And Apple don't have an email address for complaints.
I wish the update had been clearer before i accepted it, stating "WOULD REVERT YOUR IPOD BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS" even with someone with a full library of 10,000 songs that would have taken a very long time to update.
So thanks Apple thanks a bunch.

You are not addressing Apple in this forum. We are just users like yur self.

It has always been the case that restoring or updating the iPod on other that the syyncing computer that has all the apps and mucic in it will result in the iPod being erased and it contents replaced with the contents in the iTunes library of the computer. Also see:

I just purchased this at auction, it has been used. It still has the persons apple id on it.
I need it off and back to factory settings. Please help.

Connect the iOS device to your computer and then restore restore to facriry setings/new iPod (not from backup) via iTunes. The iOS device will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • I put older model shuffle back to factory settings, how do I get it to work now?

Older shuffle put back to factory settings. How do I get it working again?

Please post the exact error message you get if it fails again. It may help to clear your browser's cache and disable any AV software when installing iTunes. You should also install from an account with administrator rights.
Hopefully, as others suggest, you have a backup of your library and media, or failing that a device containing it. If the latter see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Otherwise you will only be able to recover qualifying past purchases as detailed in the link Limnos gave earlier.

    No app is required.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
