Putting iPod Music into new library?

I got the ipod nano for Xmas, and I put a ton of songs on it. However, I put the songs on it from a different computer (I was at my Grandma's at the time).
The songs are on the iPod, however, I need to bring them to the new library on my computer somehow, because whenever I clicked Library they aren't showing.

Go back to Grandma's and do the following.
1. Bring up iTunes and export the 'Music' library.
2. If you can, e-mail the exported list file to yourself or copy it to CD.
3. Go to your PC and retrieve the e-mail and save the file somewhere on your system or if you put it on CD then do step 4.
4. Bring up iTunes and import the file.

  • Can i upload ipod music into itunes library?

I want to put my ipod music back into the itunes library, and i dont know how. Is there any way to copy and paste, cuz it doesnt seem to be working..I want to upload the ipod music into the library so i can put the music onto my cell.
well i hope i can get some help, cause its frustrating me.

Syncing between iTunes and iPod is intended to be one-way: from iTunes to iPod. The exception, with recent versions of iTunes, is that content purchased from the iTMS can be copied from iPod back to iTunes.
There are (nearly) countless third-party utilities for recovering music and other content from iPods, however, so perhaps you should have a look around the Internet for something that meets your needs.

  • Old imac hard drive crashed... how to put ipod tunes into new imac's itunes

I'm sure this is something that's been revisited a number of times already... My "old" imac (2 years old -- yes I'm ****** but let's not go there) hard drive ceased living. I literally lost everything (had all data backed up, whew!).
Anyway, how can I put my itunes library, which is on my ipod, onto my new itunes on my new imac?
Thanks in advance for your help, Craig

You can't do this using regular Apple software (it's designed to work in one direction only). However if you Google "transfer from ipod to itunes" several helpful links come up with utilities you can download to do this.
But if you have protected music on your iPod, do remember to "authorise"" your new HD first.

  • How do I put iPod songs into my library?

Originally, my brother and I shared iTunes on his computer. Then his hard drive got erased, so we installed iTunes onto my computer. We both still have all of our songs on our iPods, but not in the new library, so I can't just go back and find the Music Folder or whatever. Is there any way to get the songs from my iPod into my library? Dragging doesn't work.

    take a look at this
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300173
if you want a more simple method you could download third party software that will allow you to take the information on your ipod and transfer it onto your computer..
    go to www.versiontracker.com
you can find what you need there.

  • Reinstalled computer - How to put ipod tunes into itunes library?

Hi sure there is loads answered this but i couldn't see exactly what i needed so apologies if i am repeating but i have a headache ><
My laptop suffered a terrible virus and i had to format my HD. Now everything is reinstalled phew
However, my ipod still has its music on it, i want to put that music back onto my laptop via my itunes library.
I am worried that by using sync i will erase all the ipod music. as 'sync' will sync the ipod to the (Empty)Library.
I need to sync the music on the ipod to the Library, so I will have my original Library from before back!
Hope this makes sense, thanks for any help
    Buffy

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

The transfer of purchased content to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7, look under under File>"Transfer Purchases from iPod". A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If your iPod is set to update automatically you just need to take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Old puter crashed i lost everything want to put ipod music on new puter

My old computer crashed and I lost everything including my music. I have my ipod with all of my music on it and want to download it to my new computer. I read the instructions for putting music on my new computer but it calls for having the old computer which i do not have. There has to be a way to put the music on my new computer, I have itunes downloaded but am afraid to try cuz i dont want to lose everything. PLEASE help, i would be forever grateful!!!!!!!!

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • PC died and in turn my main iTunes library. iPhone was synced to it. Now when I try to connect to another library it tells me the phone must be wiped clean before I can manage music with new library. Any way around that? Don't want to lose music.

My PC died and in turn so did my main iTunes library.  My iPhone was synced to the library that is gone.  Now when I try to connect to another library, it tells me the phone must be wiped clean before I can manage music with new library.  Any way around that?  I don't want to lose the music that is on my phone.  I am looking for a way to tell the phone to "forget" the old library and let me start working with a new library.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone.  Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars.  So do NOT sync yet.  This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data.  Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync.  They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.
