Putting itunes' playlists on ipod

does anyone know how to get playlists, that were made on itunes, onto your ipod without duplicating those songs on your ipod? ive talked to a few people who have experienced this same problem.
(ps: my itunes and ipod libraries are the same)

Whenever you sync your iPod with iTunes your playlists should automatically sync up. I've never had a problem where the songs duplicate. You might need to go into "Preferences" in your iTunes and I believe there might be a checkbox that has something to do with syncing playlists.
You shouldn't have that problem at all. All the playlists I create on my iTunes just sync up to my iPod and never duplicates songs.

How do I put iTunes card on iPod touch

There are instructions on this page on how to redeem a gift card : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1574 e.g. on an iPod Touch you can go to the bottom of the Music tab in the iTunes app and there should be a 'redeem' option.

  • HT4235 Having trouble syncing itunes playlist to ipod

I am having trouble syncing my itunes playlist to the ipod touch. When I connect the ipod to the computer and open itunes, the ipod shows that it is in the sync process. However, the playlist does not show up. The Diagnostic Test shows "no ipod found". I installed the newest version of itunes and have reset the sync history.

    iOS: Syncing with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
After connecting your iPod touch to the computer, choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have see the options to sync "Entire music library" and sync "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres". If the latter is selected, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. It may be that the specific playlist you are referring to is not checked.
For a visual instruction on how to do this, see the following:

  • Syncing iTunes playlist to IPod

I know this is a no brainer. But I've forgotten how do it. I simply want to take my selected iTunes playlist ( let's say I call it Pete's Playlist) and transport, sync, whatever that Pete's playlist to my iPod, so that the song list is in sequence, and not scattered by title. In other words, let's say I want to transport 10 songs of Elvis Presley, 10 songs of the Beatles, 10 song of Frank Sinatra, and the entire Goldberg Variations. How do I take those selections from Pete's playlist in iTunes and transport them my iPod, so that when I go to "All Songs," the 10 songs of Elvis is one list, followed by the Beatles, and so on in sequence?
    Thank you for the info.
    Pete

Sort the playlist in the order you want.
Then on the playlist name, right click - *Copy to play order*.
    Then sync the iPod.

  • Cannot sync song from iTunes playlist to iPod Classic

I haven't been able to sync a song from one of my playlists in iTunes to my iPod ever since I've updated from earlier programs. The song was added to the playlist manually, but that never mattered before. If I can't clear this up I'm afraid my iPod is useless!

You could try creating a new playlist from that one. Select the complete Playlist and then select New Playlist from selection. In my screenshot, I right-clicked to get this pop-up menu, your iTunes may look slightly different, but the choice will be there somewhere (try the + icon in the bottom left of the iTunes window).
Once you have created the new Playlist, try Syncing that to your iPod. If only that song is missing, that suggests there is something wrong with the song that prevents it going onto your iPod. But if the complete (new) Playlist fails to transfer, then that suggests that something is wrong with your Sync preferences.

  • Having trouble putting songs/playlist on ipod

Not sure what to do, trying to add songs and playlists to my ipod but its just not working. It keeps coming up 'songs on the ipod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exists'. How can I get it to work?
    thanks alot

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Can you import iTunes playlists from iPod?

I have moved my iTunes library off my computer and onto an external hard drive and somehow in the process have lost my playlist.  (I didn't do a good job of moving over, had to basically download everything back from the cloud).  So my music is all there but not my playlists.  If I have my playlists on an iPod, can I import them into my new iTunes library from my iPod?  If I plug in my iPod will it sync with library and will I lose all my playlists??

  • Update itunes playlists using ipod after hard drive failure

I had Itunes loaded on a primary drive that failed - the library was stored on a secondary drive. I reinstalled itunes and adding the library back into Itunes, I would now like to recover my playlists from the ipod back into itunes. Right now the only place I have playlists is on the ipod and I am afraid that resyncing may cause the playlists to disappear.

    Try Senuti.
It's a program that transfers music from iPod to iTunes on a Mac.

  • Help with iTunes Playlist and iPod!

My first problem is that my Recently Added playlist disappeared and I can't figure out how to add it back to my list of playlists!
And secondly, when I plug in my iPod into the USB cord into my computer, it connects with iTunes but then a Yahoo! Music Player automatically opens with it.
    What can I do? Thanks!

No, you can easily migrate your entire library from one working compter to another.
If you fail to backup or migrate your library and find yourself with nothing but a new empty computer and a device full of content iTunes is designed to only recover the iTunes purchased content, however third party tools can help recover everything if needed.

I don't know what's up with the translation window thing appearing.  Anyway...
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
