Putting moved files back onto iWeb
I think I've really messed up here but I moved a site I designed out of iWeb and into a folder on my hard drive. I now want to move the whole thing back into iWeb and make some changes only I can't. It won't let me! Does anyone know how to open those files saved somewhere else in iWeb? Please tell me I won't have to rebuild the whole thing because I'm going to shoot myself!!!!!!!!!! Eeeeeeeek!
iWeb can't import anything. If you deleted pages from inside the iWeb app and don't have a copy of the Domain file that created the pages, you have to recreate the site.

It seems like you may need to re enable Manually Manage Music now that the device has been updated, and this article should help with that.

How to put exported iPod Garageband files back onto Garageband?
Hi,
Last year before I got a new iPod Touch I exported my Garageband song files onto my laptop using the "file sharing" feature on iTunes, at the bottom of the "apps" screen. I now want to put these files back onto Garageband on my latest iPod but am not sure how. The songs have saved in folders titled *songname*.band and upon entering the folders I am presented with more folders entitled ontents, media, output and thumbs. There is also a standalone file named ProjectData. I've tried adding the ProjectData file to garageband, but this has no effect.
Both iPods were 4th gen. My current IOS is 6.1.6.
So in short, how can I get the songs contained in these folders back into my iPod touch?
Thank you for any assistance.You should be able to sync your projects back to the iPod, if you add the .band files back to the GarageBand file sharing area in iTunes, when you sync your iPod again.
But this will only work, if you did not open the projects in GarageBand on your Mac and convert them to GarageBand for Mac projects. -
I have a dilema i use a programme called Mackeeper i accidentally moved several checked files to my trash BUT i didnt delete them,i would like to put the files back where they belong but the put back option is in grey and wont work?? i have spoken to Apple and to no avail !!!
Mackeeper moved my files to my trash so i pulled them out of my trash to my desktop it has copied them to my desktop as well as kept them in my trash!!
im so confused and things are not working properly anymore such as my google chrome for example...all my book marks are gone BUT i can go to the google file which is out of place on my desktop and view all my bookmarks data...ALL of my files still exist but they are just out of place now which is making it hard for certain options on my computer to work...

Remove "MacKeeper" as follows.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Failure to remove MacKeeper will result from neglecting any one of these points:
Quit MacKeeper before dragging it to the Trash.
Don't empty the Trash after dragging the application to it. Let MacKeeper delete itself.
Don't try to drag the MacKeeper icon in the Dock to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this stuff is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.

Restore from the last backup that predates the unwanted changes. -

After clean install of Snow Leopard, Time Machine did not restore all files. When I try to restore these files I get "Not enough disk space" error. What do I need to do to get these important files back onto my Mac from my external hard drive??

For what the Apple Store's charge you can buy almost buy a new computer.
Just for giggles I brought my old laptop in for a drive upgrade and asked, they wanted $600 for a drive that only cost $120 at the time and it was a slow 5,400 RPM drive. The new Mac's of a similar make were going for $1000.
I did the drive replacement myself, got a faster drive of better quality for $300 instead.

I think what you should do, if your out of warranty/AppleCare, is to call up the local PC tech guy who also does Mac's and have them fix you right up.
They can offer more personalized care which you need. Clone your old drive to the new and everything.
With Apple they are overworked at the Genius Bar and just place roadblocks so you buy a new machine instead.
For instance, all new iMac's now have proprietary drive software installed on the hard drives for heat monitoring. So now the only choice a user has is to bring their iMac into a Apple Store for a very expensive drive upgrade, which a person then decides the money is better spent buying a new machine. -
Transfering backed up files back onto my Nomad Zen X
So I backed up my Xtra so that I could upgrade my firmware and media organizer. That was all done with no problems, everything is up and running. The only problem i am having now is when I went to transfer all my files back onto my Xtra, they can now only be viewed by files and not by songs like it was before.
in short, when I backed up onto my external, it created a different file for each 'album' and now will only transfer back the 'albums' so the organizer will only see them as folders and not as individual files! This makes organizing my files next to impossible since I have to go folder by folder (kind of defeats the purpose of the organizer). Is this a glitch with the new Plays For Sure upgrade? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible to get published to folder files back into iweb?

I have created a website in iweb and published it to a folder and to my .mac account. I have recently closed down my .mac account so I could reopen one with my new business name. In the meantime I have upgraded to Leopard which deleted my iweb application.I have got another copy of iweb but now when I open iweb it does not automatically open my website up. Does anyone know if it is possible to open my old website which I have Published to a folder in iweb so I can publish it to my new .mac site?
If i click on the html files in the folder it runs like the website but from that folder only. All the work is there I just can't find out how to get it back on the net.
Please help so I don't have to spend weeks re entering all the files back into iweb one by one!
ThanksYou can upload your website files by drag and drop to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites to get your website up and running.
To be able to publish changes you will have to do a search for the original domain.sites2 file and drop this into Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb.
If you can't find it, then rebuilding is your only option. This is frustrating but doesn't take too long if you copy and paste all your text, images etc from the published files to your new iWeb pages. -
How do I put recovery files back into ASM?
I'm trying to recover a database for testing. I have all the backup files in a directory. I've restored the controlfile.
When I run the restore, the error is:
RMAN-03002: failure of restore command at 10/21/2009 19:24:52
RMAN-06026: some targets not found - aborting restore
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 4 found to restore
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 3 found to restore
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 2 found to restore
RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 1 found to restore
I'm guessing that I either need to tell rman where to find the files or put the files back into the ASM +FLASHBACK.
So 1) How do I tell rman that the files are now in a directory
or 2) How do I put the files back into ASM?
Thanks - JRI restored the control file with the rman "RESTORE CONTROLFILE FROM 'filenamegoeshere'; It was the control file backup from the corresponding DB backup.
I couldn't use the RESTORE CONTROLFILE FROM AUTOBACKUP because it was expecting the backup files to be in the ASM +FLASHBACK.
The catalog lists all the files that I have, but it thinks they are in ASM.

Printing user validation errors from .php file back onto a form
Hey all. I have written a simple contact form with the extention .php. It includes the php validation and the form inputs on one page. If the input does not validate, a warning in red is printed at the top of the form after the user pushes submit. When I cut and paste the php validation code into a seperate file, the validation errors print on a blank screen. What I want is to have the same results with a seperate php file as I do when I include the php code on the form. (print errors from the seperate php validation file back onto the form). </form>You want the form to submit its results to a separate file which processes the data. If this separate file finds errors, you want it to return control to the form page which would a) display the error messages, and b) populate the fields with the data entered?
If that's the case, then the processing file would have to send the errors and the data back to the form page either as a) URL variables, b) a cookie, or c) entries in a database.

HT4692 Ok. Now how to I get the garageband file BACK onto my iPad?
Ok. I have successfully transferred garageband files from my ipad to my itunes into file sharing and then saved them onto my mac in a file. Now, the question is.... how do I (after deleting garageband files off of my ipad) put them BACK on???

First you put the the GarageBand Project back onto the GarageBand Documents area of you iTunes File Sharing section and make sure your iPad syncs with iTunes.
Step 2
Now in GarageBand, go to the My Songs window, click the + button and select "Copy from Tunes". You should see all the GarageBand Projects that are available in your iTunes FIle Sharing section (from step 1). Tap on it to copy the Project to the My Songs window.
Now you can open it.

Putting Ipod files back on after backing them up
So my Itunes had 7000 songs or so, and about 700 videos. Consequently my poor laptop got quite full and quite slow. So I bought an external hard drive and enlisted the help of a computer-savvy friend. We copied all the files over to the external HD (I for some reason found the files in "My Music", which was in "My Pictures" in "My Documents", weird. There was a file folder for each artist, and every time we tried to copy them all at once, my computer would act up.
So, I had to do it a line or so at a time, like 10 folders at once and that seemed to work (I hope I copied EVERYTHING).
He cleared my Itunes for me, and I think made it so from now on it will all go to my external drive, but still keeping the icon on my desktop.
Now I have to add them back in.
I tried to do it all once and it messed up.
So I deleted the files. I hope I didn't lose them!
I hit "restore" after they all went to the Recycle Bin, so I think they are all back in the Ex.hrd.drv.
Now my Itunes is empty again.
Is there any easier way to put 'em all back w/o doing it artist by artist?
It doesn't want to let me select more than one folder at once.

I'm really nervous about all this, to think of how many HOURS and DAYS and WEEKS of my life I've spent building and editing all my music n videos. . . wow!Your friend was not iTunes savvy at all else you would not have done it as you did.
All you needed to do is to move the *iTunes folder* to the external drive.
Start iTunes holding the Shift key.
Select *Choose existing library* and pick the iTunes library file in the *iTunes folder* you moved.
That's it.
Or else you can point iTunes prefs -> Advanced to the new location where you want your music to be located. (Don't move it there yourself. Just set the prefs to point to where you want it).
Then menu Advanced -> Consolidate library.
Everything will get copied to the new location.
*Is there any easier way to put 'em all back w/o doing it artist by artist*?Make sure iTunes prefs -> Advanced is pointing to the top level folder they are in.
File -> Add folder to library and pick the top level folder where they are. -
How do i get hosted website files back into iWeb after they were lost off iWeb?
Lost all website files from my iWeb program. Possible I updated a newer non compatible iWeb version? At any rate........have website files back on my desktop and have no idea how to get them back into iWeb so I can modify. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
You can't. iWeb has no import capability. Search your hard drive for a file named Domian.sites2. It normally resides in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you use Time Machine you can go back in it to find the latest copy of that file.
However,
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
If you can't find it you'll have to start a new website. You can open the files from the website in your browser and copy/drag photos from the existing website pages into a new or blank iWeb page. Text should be selected and copied and then pastes into the new webpage. No need to add a text box first.

Moving files from one iweb program to another
Well I've posted so many times and it seems no one has an answer for any of my issues going on with inspector. I can't change colors on anything in inspector, text, lines, hyperlinks, shadows. They are all "stuck" on black, except the shadow which is stuck on electric yellow.
I have 2 web sites to finish by tomorrow morning and I will not be able to, unless.....
I have a mac air and it has iweb on it how can I get the files from my iWeb on my iMac to the the iWeb on my Mac air?
I've published to a folder on the iMac and can zip it up and send it to the MacAir. but once there they don't go into iWeb and there seems to be no import function.
Is there some way to get them in there? I don't know what else to do.
Would reinstalling iWeb help? Will I lose my 10 websites that are currently in iWeb if I reinstall it?
