Putting Music Library on Ippod

I do not have a music library whatsoever and I do not feel like looking up hundreds and thousands of songs to put on my ipod. My question is since my brother has about 2 thousand songs on his iPod can i just connect both of our iPods to iTunes and put his playlist or songs onto my iPod?
Thanks in advance.

*Can i just connect both of our iPods to iTunes and put his playlist or songs onto my iPod?*
No you can't transfer songs from one iPod to another. The songs have to be in iTunes and the iPod updated from there. Also iTunes for Windows doesn't support connecting two iPods at the same time: iPod for Windows: Only works with one iPod at a time

No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • How to put music library files onto new iPhone 6 with iTunes

I set up my new iPhone 6 on my Macbook Pro for backup to the cloud using wi fi. I also set it up as a phone, not as an ipod. But when I synced the phone, no music library files copied onto the phone, which has 128 gigs, only reference graphics showing an iCloud icon, so I have to play everything by streaming from a hotspot or using cellular data.  How do I just put the music library on the phone?

Thanks!  Fascinating, but playing the very same files for the first time through my car's stereo system, the volume required was much lower and the sound was much better. I think the old 4s must have been deteriorating, or the new 6 is far more powerful and better.

  • Putting music library on a computer that already has an itune library on it

Hello...I have a problem that I can't get an answer to. I have a 60gb video ipod with about 22gb of music on it. My old computer went down and my son installed his ipod on muy new one. I can't get it to recognize my library and to allow me to import and manage my music onto my new computer. Anyone who can help? thanks!

There are a few different ways to use two iPods with one computer, have a look at this help page for suggestions: How to use multiple iPods with one computer
Once you've decided on how you are going to use the iPods (single library, multiple library, different Windows accounts etc.) there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
One last thing, if your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7.3 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed above your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc. Then depending on how you plan to use the two iPod on the one PC you may want to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Cannot put music library onto iPod

For some reason, iTunes will not let me get my music onto my iPod.
This problem started earlier, when I accidently removed the majority of my music off of my iPod (not iTunes). So, naturally, I decided that I needed to put the music back on. I connected my iPod to the computer, the program recognized my iPod, and started to load the songs back on. However, after it has gotten about 350 songs back onto the iPod, a box pops up saying that iTunes cannot find the file to sync my player to iTunes and stops putting the songs on it. This has happened three times already, and I am 100% positive that my iPod has enough memory for all of my songs. If anyone could help I would be extremely grateful!

You can also just go to the store menu at the top of itunes annd there is an option to authorize the computer...just put in email and assword and this will authorize anything purchased with that account, and any future purchases

  • I want to put music onto my partners phone from my Mac computer. The message comes up that her phone is synced with another iTunes library (not in use anymore) and do I want to erase this iPhone and sync with this itunes library.

There is currently no music on her iPhone and all the apps are already in the iTunes library on the mac that I want to sync it to so its not a problem, the apps won't be lost.
My question is are photos and messages and contacts classified as iPhone contents? Because I don't want those to be wiped. So can I sync her phone to this iTunes library? I have not been able to find online whether or not photos and contacts will be lost.
Also her phone is already backed up on this computer because it gets plugged into it all the time we have just not tried to put music onto it yet until now.
Thanks for any help clarifying this

  • Hello there - how can I share my iTunes library between two users on the same computer? I put the library in a shared folder between both and have selected this library on both as well, but when I update iTunes with music etc it only appears on one?

Hello there - how can I share my iTunes library between two users on the same computer? I put the library in a shared folder between both and have selected this library on both as well, but when I update iTunes with music etc it only appears on one?

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly   Thanks anyway!

  • I have just put an audio book into my iTunes music library.  When I tried to transfer it to my iPod shuffle it rearranged the tracks so that they are in the wrong order.  How can I put them in the order they appear in the book?

I have just put an audio book into my iTunes music library.  When I tried to transfer it to my iPod Shuffle it put the chapters in the wrong order i.e. Chap 1, Chap 10, Chap 11 etc. rather than Chap 1, Chap 2, Chap 3 ...  How can I get it to put them in the order they appear in the book?

First, we need to know if the audiobook chapters are being treated by iTunes as music files or as audiobooks. If they are not audiobooks purchased from the iTunes store, they might be getting "shuffled". You will need to look at "File" - "Properties" (I think - I don't use iTunes under Windows - or right-click on the file and choose "properties") and look at the media type. If it is "Music", change it to "Audiobook". If this is not the problem, or does not fix anything, please post back.
Actually, looking at your post again, a second thought occurs to me - assuming there are less than 100 chapters in the book, just renaming them with a leading zero on the first nine chapters might do it. A computer will alphabetically sort filenames in the order you quote (1, 10, 11, 12, 13, ... 2, 21, etc.) but a leading zero will fix that (01, 02, 03 ... 10, 11, 12)

You can have two separate libraries, just do not put them into the same location on the computer. You could also create a new user on the laptop, you, and then you would start out with a blank iTunes library, then just add yours to that. It would also prevent you and your girlfriend from mixing content up unless you share an Apple ID.

  • Is there a way to put music from an ipod into the music library?

I want to put music from an ipod into the music library. Is there a way of doing it because i dont know how?

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
Everything on your ipod should also be on your computer and included in your regular backup of your computer.

  • HT1535 How do I put music into iTunes that is on my iPod touch? I have music on my iPod touch that is not in my iTunes library.  I do NOT want to loose these songs when I sync to iTunes.

Recently I had to replace my computer with a new one. The old hard drive died and there was no way of retrieving any of my data from the dead computer. When I downloaded iTunes onto my new computer there were several songs missing in my iTunes library. I was able to retrieve most through purchased music, however there was some music that I had downloaded from other sources and that music is still on my iPod touch. the iTunes app on the iPad is updated when the iOS is updated. What version of iOS is on your iPad?
The message you are getting is about updating iTunes is for your computer, not the iPad. The current version of iTunes is version 11.

  • How Do I put the music in my iTunes library onto my iPhone music library

Just bought a new iphone. I want to put music on it. My iTunes library is full of music, how do i move it to my phone?

You can make a playlist in iTunes to and fill it with the music you want on your phone. Then when you sync your phone you can select the playlist to sync. Creating a playlist will allow you to choose the songs you want.
    Create a playlist by selecting
    1. File
    2. New
    3. Playlist
    4. Name the Playlist
    Adding Music to the Playlist
    1. Select song
    2. Right Click
    3. Add to Playlist
    4. Select the PlayList you created
