Putting music on my web pages in iweb

Is there a way to put music on my webpages in iweb without adding it through the "Add Media" option? I was looking for the music to come on automatically, rather than have someone have to click the little player everytime they go to a new page.
As well, does iweb have a page that's designed for comments from viewers? I know there is a page for Blogs but I wanted to add a page in which people could add comments to it, kinda like a virtual guest book.
TIA for all answers/suggestions/comments,
Dale

There are a few methods, they all require post processing of some sorts.
one of the simple method is using (QT) embed tag and insert the tag into you page, see this for details:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61012
or using pseudo AJAX, as I do in my unorthodox method (you will have to wait for the fading, the audio kicks in after), see it here:
http://www.geocities.com/[email protected]/widgets.html
the page fading is another unorthodox method that isn't included with iWeb, but it is do-able with current iWeb.

  • I started setting up a web page with iWeb. Auto play box is checked, but music will not play when page is opened.

I started setting up a web page with IWeb.
    Several proplems so far:
    1) Auto Play box checked for music, but music does not start when page is opened.
    2) Can't get Quicktime "start/stop" slide to start and finish a section within a long piece of music (classical for example).  How does one work the slide bar to do this?

Yes the audio file plays on the iWeb page when I click the play button.  I even made sure it played both without the “little boxes” that surround the icon (don’t know the technical name for those), and when I click the music icon without the little boxes.
I did note that the iTunes window that appears when I open the Inspector is not highlighted until I click the music icon and those little boxes appear.  Then the Start/Stop, Auto Play,  Loop, and Show Movie Controller are highlighted —  and work properly.
One other thing.  I see that the iWeb icon I am working from says “Domain copy.sites2.”  Does that have a bearing on anything?

I updated to os x 10.8.5 today and now I cannot publish changes to my web page through iweb.  iweb crashes every time I try to publish

    First do the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Next, in Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • How can I add a podcast episode to an existing web page using iWeb?

How can I add an episode to an existing web page using iWeb?
I could probably figure this out but I am afraid if I make changes to the site and re-upload it to the podcast area I will have just doubled it. I see them repeated from time to time.
What is the proper protocal? Thanks

    Hi apple-owner,
    Method 1.
To create this scatter-plot, I selected the whole of Columns A and B. (Shift click on the Column reference tabs).
The plot ignores blank rows, but they are "ready" for new data:
    Method 2
If you did not select whole columns, you can extend the "active" rows. Rows 1-5 selected:
Add more data rows and drag the fill handle (small white circle, bottom right) down

  • I need an addon to extract music files from web pages like myspace.

I'm running Firefox 23 on Ubuntu 12.04. I would like to be able to extract/download music files from web pages like MySpace. I searched through the addons but didn't find any. Is there and addon to download music from MySpace?

    There's a Search box at addons.mozilla.org which you can use. <br />

The first one listed there says it works with MySpace.

  • Making an editable web page in iweb

Hopefully someone can help me out here.
What I am trying to do is make a web page with iweb that will basically be a
page that anyone can edit (type) in. It would need to be password protected. but basically an editable journal type page. If that isn't possible, does anyone know how to make a simple hmtl page that would do the same effect that i could load into my .mac account? thank you for your time.

does anyone know how to make a simple hmtl page that would do the same effect that i could load into my .mac account?
I don't think what you want to do is possible on .Mac. Such things require php or other server side stuff which is not available there. But you can probably incorporate a forum hosted elsewhere into your .mac site. Search this forum for "forum".

  • Can't insert a music file onto web page

When I try to use the media window to drop a song into my web page, I get the following:
The image file 01xxxx.m4a cant be used because you dont have access privileges or because it has no content or is corrupted.
Wrong on all counts. The song plays just fine in iTunes and I've burned it to CD's. Its ripped in Apple lossless and isn't downloaded from iTunes so there is no DRM issue. What gives? I should be able to put it on my web page.

I have no option to download the document until I open it.  I am having this problem with any webpage, not just this one bank's webpage.
    Any other suggestions?

Will you be working on the site with both computers over time? If so Old Toad's Tutorial #21 - Managing an iWeb site from multiple Macs with Dropbox. can show you a way to make it easy to keep the domain file current on both Macs.

  • Change web page using iweb

How can I change my web page using iweb?

Then you would need to publish to one of the 3 options that iWeb provides. Now, MobileMe ceases to exist come June, 30th. If you do not allready have a 3rd party host you will need to get one.
I use ix webhosting. Their plans start as low as $3.95 USD a month & they have excellant customer service.

  • Blocking the ability to download a photo from a web page using iWeb

You guys have been so helpful about helping me make video files and music tracks unavailable for downloading from my site by altering the javascript code on my iDisc. Now I have another problem.
The photo/pictures placeholders in iWeb permit me to place photos on my web pages. Is there a way to alter the code so that the option to drag-copy or download the picture from my site can be disabled?
    Thanks for your help!

Here are some variations that make messing with strings easier.
    $LocalPage ='\\server\share\sam1.html'
    # build URI
    $template= 'https://server/reports/116/output/?start-year={0}&start-month={1}&start-day={2}&days=1&company-code=1'
    $d=[datetime]::Today.AddDays(-1)
    $uri=$template -f ($d.Year-2000),$d.Month,$d.Day
    (Invoke-WebRequest -Uri $uri).Content | Out-File -FilePath $LocalPage -Force
    & $LocalPage
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • The .Mac sound files: Can I put them on a web page?

Well, now that I have all those sounds files (Thank you, Diane Cayton!), I would like to put them onto some iWeb pages for atmosphere. I refer to the sound files of the squeaky door, the horse whinny, the typewriter clicking etc).
    1) Would I have to convert the sound files the same way that I did for my .mp3 music files? (From .mp3 files to .mov files)
    2) Would they be edited in the same way as the other sound files that I got from Michael Wong's website? (height 16px, controller False, Loop True, and Automatic Start True) If so, then I assume that they would be treated the same way in MassMoveIt as the other .mov files.
    Thank you -----

My new reason for uploading photos to a photo sharing site is: backup security for my photos, and simply an alternate way to show photos/slideshows/videos.
I liked the LOOK of Picasa a lot, but then I discovered that Picasa system requirements are PC; I didn't see Mac anywhere. I sent an email and the response was to send me to a page where I surmised the above. They do not say, "We don't work with Macs." They only list PC jargon in system requirements.
Another photo sharing site I found: Dropshots, where you can upload your VIDEOS. They play all kinds of video formats. I am considering uploading my videos to Dropshots or some such site and then putting hyperlinks onto a "Movie" page template in iWeb. That way ALL of my friends can see my videos, not just those who have QuickTime. I did an informal survey among people in my email group, and enough of them said that they don't have QuickTime to make me think twice.
There is another site which has My Space in the title, and it mentions slide show creations.
WHAT I MIGHT DO TO DECIDE WHICH ONE I LIKE:
I will choose a folder of photos (probably Nancy's African Safari) and join those sites, which are free. See how difficult or easy each site makes it for me to upload photos. See what options are offered for formatting and making the page look good. See what the final outcome is. How good do the photos look? I am old, those photo sites make the photos look better than iWeb slideshows do. Then after researching it to death and beyond, I will choose the site that satisfies my requirements.
I am going to a funeral today; yet another light in the universe has blinked out forever. I know that it is balanced out by some baby being born somewhere, but theoretical and philosophical constructs are no solace for personal loss.

  • Web page using iweb/mobile me

Why doesn't my web page set up through mobil me come up on the computer when I enter the address with www.me.com/..........It won't load up unless I use only http://me.com/etc.etc..
I want it to load my web page when I enter the address www.me.com/.........What is going on here? I have to advertise this web page and I cannot put it under www. Why?

The url of any website published from iWeb to MobileMe will always be http://web.me.com/username/page name.html. www.me.com only exists to allow you to log into your MobileMe account online.
If you want anything different, then you need to go to a domain name registrar and register a domain name from them and then link it to your MobileMe account. That is the only way.

  • I am connected to my remote server and "put files" but the web page files do not update, whats going on?

I really can't figure this out:
So I use a different computer at school for web design, I bought Dreamweaver to work on it at home, I get the files fine from the server that I uploaded at school but then I make changes at home computer and connect and "put" them and I check online and the web page doesn't change one bit.
I don't have the exact file extensions from the computer at school but when I connect and get I have a similar folder(s) set up and then it downloads them into Dreamweaver file manager box and makes the folders there I downloaded. The site shows up fine in Dreamweaver after I "get" so great I thinking.
But... not so fast, I change the page in Dreamweaver, preview n a browser and look right on so I "put", connect to server and upload. Then I check online an its still the same I uploaded the CSS and HTML and dependent files by dragging over and also using the up arrow "put" as well but nothing changes on the web page online.
What is happening here I am so confused?
Thanks a bunch, I mean I can still preview as I go but I really curious why my "put" files don't change my web page like at all!

Have you tried refreshing the browser, or deleting the browser cache?
