Putting pictures into iTunes

I need some help with this. I am trying to put a couple pictures of mine into itunes and then transfer it to my ipod.
When I try and drag the photo into iTunes nothing appears. It doesn't work. I get a red circle with a cross in the middle indicating that it won't let me do it. The picture is in a .jpg format. What am i doing wrong?

you can't physically drag into itunes.
you have to have iphoto. or maybe theres is a windows app that will allow you to do it.
but you have to go into ipod prefs and the photo selection and choose to download an album or something to your ipod.
like I said I'm not particularly sure you can do this without iphoto.

is it possibe to put pictures on itunes. i keep trying to do file and then add file to library. and it doset work

The photos don't go into iTunes, you just use iTunes to syncronise them between a chosen folder and the iPod. Here's the tutorial: Transferring Pictures to Your iPod
After you have looked at that here's a tip to prevent all your photos going on the iPod. Create a folder on your hard drive called "iPod Photos" or something similar. Under the photo preferences for the iPod, point iTunes to "synchronize photos from" then point it to your folder and update from there. If you keep a dedicated folder like this, you won't need to edit your normal picture collection just for the iPod and you can add and remove photos from it whenever you need to.

  • How can I download a song without automatically launching/putting it into iTunes?

How can I download a song without automatically launching/putting it into iTunes? I download my royalty-free music from VideoBlocks and it automatically launches iTunes and plays the song in iTunes. I just want to save it to a location without going through iTunes. How do I do so?

Open your web browser's preferences and set it not to automatically open safe files. If you're using Safari, this option is in the General tab.

  • HT1535 How do I put music into iTunes that is on my iPod touch? I have music on my iPod touch that is not in my iTunes library.  I do NOT want to loose these songs when I sync to iTunes.

Recently I had to replace my computer with a new one. The old hard drive died and there was no way of retrieving any of my data from the dead computer. When I downloaded iTunes onto my new computer there were several songs missing in my iTunes library. I was able to retrieve most through purchased music, however there was some music that I had downloaded from other sources and that music is still on my iPod touch. How do I put music into my iTunes library that is on my iPod touch but not in the iTunes library? I do not want to loose the music on my iPod when I sync to iTunes library.

As for the content purchased from BN.com that shows up in the nook app... check with Barnes and Noble to see if it's possible for that content to show up on your computer.

  • Putting video into itunes

How do you put movies or tv shows that you have downloaded from limewire, kazaa etc into itunes. Also, how do you convert video files into whatever format that the ipod reads.

Hows about using Google or maybe I will educate you.
Purchase Quicktime Pro 7 and it will do it for you.
Just so you know, The new Video IPOD (Got mine today)
is and never will be a replacement for products like
the Archos AV 700 or similar units. It doesn't
support DIVx, which is the easiest format to work
with. Great Quality. I have done testing all day and
I have come to realize that their MP4 video files,
which of course are locked (and they want to keep it
that way) were meant for the IPOD and iTunes.
MP4 files (audio or video) are only locked if you purchase them from Apple. If you convert your own files to MP4, they will not be locked in any way.

  • Putting Playlists into Itunes

    Hi all-
Can you put playslists from my ipod nano into itunes.  I switched computers (pc to a mac).
    Thanks,
    Larry

    LOL Welcome to iTunes.
No matter how many times I change details/album covers, there's always one or two that are wrong or don't sync.
You could download a program to edit the metadata so that iTunes reads the info directly from the file instead of editing it in iTunes yourself.

  • I have my iMovies in QuickTime format on an external drive. Is there anyway to show them from the external drive without putting them into iTunes?

I havei my personal iMovies in QuickTime format on an external drive. I prefer not to have to import them into my iTunes library which is nearly 1GB already. Is there any way to play them from my MacBook Pro through Apple TV 2 without importing them into iTunes?

Just wanted to add a little to the excellent comments from those above... I have debated on adding the content to iTunes or just accessing the content through some folder structure.
What has worked best for me and my family:
use VideoDrive - http://www.aroona.net/VideoDrive/Home.html to import the videos/tvshows into iTunes and make them in the correct format for my iPad/iPhone/AppleTV devices in the house. This software is cheap and excellent and make the adding of content to iTunes (i everything) easy!
I store my videos on a usb 2tb drive and my tvshows on a different usb 2tb drive. And I swap a drive out every year or so and give old drive away to family/friends. That way my media drives are new(ish) and 1 drive is never older than 2 years.
for media that I don't want to add to iTunes I still use AirVideo as it is an excellent piece of software. I also use AirVideo to allow me to access content on my home network over the internet.
my "media server" is a simple 4 year old intel mac mini with 1 gig of ram best $700 I spent when I first flipped to all things mac. Family now have 2 mbp's, 2 iPads, 4 iphones and 1atv (2nd gen)
I'm working on a document that shows how I did my setup - if you want to read more please feel free to download my preview - https://files.me.com/lee.gaupp/aq0gst

  • Can't put music into itunes????

I have spent the last few days inputting my old CD's into itunes. I pressed the import CD button at lower right and then they went into the 'music' folder.
Now, when I click 'import CD' it seems to be inputting the music but when I click on the music folder afterwards I cannot find the music. At one stage I got an error message 1009 but I don't know what this is.
    Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Not necessrily, you just need to find a 3rd party program to transfer content that is ripped or purchased outside of iTunes.

  • Putting Mpeg4 into Itunes.

I ran a video through videora and converted it into the proper format. But, I am having problems getting the video into itunes and into my ipod video. I've tried dragging it and going to file add to library. And those didn't work, I am running the newest version of itunes. Help?

What exactly do you mean by "...into the proper format"? Are you encoding in H.264 or MPEG-4? I have heard that alot of people are having trouble with H.264. What resolutions are you encoding in? It has been my experience that if you try to import a video that is outside what iTunes expects it just seems to ignore you. No error message or warning or anything. That sounds like what you may be suffering from.
The iPod will support the following:
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats

  • Putting files into itunes

ok, so i copied some songs from my damaged ipod and now they are files in my music folder. but when i try to add to my itunes library nothing happens. does anyone know what i am doing wrong?

iTunes (or Quicktime) doesn't play back avi's by default. There are some workarounds, which may or may not work (I have mixed experiences).
First of all, install Perian for Quicktime. This allows you to play most video&audio formats which QT doesn't play by default (except windows media & real media).
From here you have 3 options:
    1. Install Xcode. Then, in terminal do this:
    +SetFile -t "MooV" YourTarget.avi+
This tells your Mac that it's a movie. You'll have to navigate in terminal to your file though.
Then just drag & drop into iTunes.
*2. & 3.* Open your movie in Quicktime Pro and save it as a QuickTime Movie (either referenced or self-contained). There also is an "utility", movie2itunes, which does the referencing automatically & you don't need QT Pro. Again, just drag&drop into iTunes.
    Note:
    - Most of the time this works for me (I'm using movie2itunes). Recently I've gotten some files which don't work in iTunes, but do in QT.
    - There is no such "cheat" for iPods, you'll have to convert.

  • I have a question that I think I know the answer to, but am looking for confirmation.  I have a dell computer at home that has clip art available on it for putting pictures into documents.  Do I need to install an APP to get something similar to clip art?

I have a question that I think I know the answer to, but am looking for confirmation.  I have a desktop computer at home that has clip art loaded onto it.  I recently got an iPad and am looking for something similar.  I assume I need to get an APP for it, and if that is correct, does anyone have one that they like?

Sort of.  There is an app called art shop that gives you a place to park clip art.   But I don't think you really need it.
If you have a collection of clip art you want available, move it to the camera roll on your pad/ phone, then copy paste into your document the clip you want.
You can get them into the camaera roll by putting them in a single event in your picture library and syncing them over,  or e mail them to your self, and save to the camera roll, or send them to drop box, and bring them down that way.
The challenge is getting them all in one place to make it easy for you to find, which is why syncing might be the best approach in the long run.
As near as I can tell there is not a ready made clip art collection in app format laying around.

  • I want to take a voice memo off my iPhone, put it into iTunes Library and convert it to an .mp3.  How do I get the voice memos from my phone?  I can't seem to move them out of the Devices folder, no matter how much I try to copy and paste or drag and drop

I want to take a voice memo off my iPhone, turn it into and .mp3, and email it.  My iPhone shows up under "Devices" in my iTunes but doesn't allow me to move the voice memo files I see sitting there into my Library no matter how much copying and pasting or dragging and dropping I try to do.
Also, I need to convert the file to an .mp3.
How come no voice memo files show up when I go into my iPhone via My Computer?  All it shows are the videos and pictures in the DCIM folder, but not the voice memos.  Is there another way to access the voice memos other than through iTunes?

Email it to yourself, then save the file and then see if you can convert it to MP3.
