Putting QT Files onto a DVD?

I have 4.7 gig, 120 minute DVDs, and need to compress 1 hour and 40 minutes of footage (I want to put the footage on my DVD as a QT file). Is MPEG4 the best way? If so, what settings do you recommend?

I am off-loading some editing work to another editor. I have about 10 hours of documentary footage and want to give the editor QT files on DVD, rather than the original tapes. He is using Premier and doesn't, I don't think, have QT7. One suggestion was to create data DVDs, i.e. just drop the QT files right onto a DVD. Is the best thing to make sure the sequences I export are under 120 minutes and 4.7 gigs? Thanks.

  • Putting CD files onto my windows

A few months ago, my iTunes library crashed and all my music went missing. I recovered nearly all of it (my dad did it somehow) but I'm still missing my CDs. I have most of them, some were borrowed from friends, but seeing as how I purchase most of my music in CD form and not by digital download, I'm lost. I can import the CD into iTunes, but the files are not on my hard drive. Is that supposed to be happening? Is there a way I can put the files onto my computer somehow?
    thanks,
    amylynne

Make sure you do all the steps of importing. Following is the article from iTunes Help.
    *Importing songs from CDs*
You can import songs from your CDs into your iTunes library. Imported songs are stored on your hard disk so that you can listen to them without having the original CD in the disc drive.
To import songs from CDs into your iTunes library:
    - Insert an audio CD into your computer's internal CD or DVD drive.
    - When the list of songs appears in the iTunes window, deselect any songs you don't want to import.
    - To add the selected songs to your library, click the Import CD button (at the bottom of the iTunes window).
To cancel importing, click the small X next to the progress bar at the top of the iTunes window.
When the songs are finished importing, click the Eject symbol to the right of the CD or click the Eject Disc button (shown below) in the lower-right corner of the iTunes window.

  • Backing up files onto a DVD+RW disc

I have backed up files onto a DVD+RW disc from my Mac.  However, when I go back to do another update, I get the message that I can't copy file because the disc is a read-only.  Why do I get this message?

It's foolish to backup to a CD or DVD, get yourself an External HD (they're relatively inexpensive) and use Time Machine. Please get one that is 1.5 to 2x the size of your internal HD. If you don't know how to use TM then simply look on YouTube and search for "Time Machine Tutorial" and you will find many videos.
The reason you get the error message is because writeable CD & DVDs can only be written to once, you cannot go back and add information. This make the practice silly and ineffective for backups.

  • How do I put an iMovie onto a DVD?

How do I put an iMovie onto a DVD to share with others?  Mac OS x Lion operating system. iMovie ... not 2011!

    Hi
Do not use - Share to iDVD - if You want any kind of Good DVD as this gives poor result BUT
    • Share to Media Browser - and as Large - Not HD or other resolution as this too costs in quality.
    • in iDVD im port it from Media button (down right) / Movies
Use good brand DVDs - I do
    • use Verbatim
    • DVD-R (as they work on more and even older DVD-players
    • burn speed set down to x2 - x4
    By using
    • iMovie HD6 or
    • FinalCut
You get an even better resulting DVD

  • How do you get a 4.36-gig file onto a DVD-R that will only take 4.28 gigs?

Hi there -- the kind folks in the iDVD forum explained why my 4.7-gig DVD-Rs won't actually hold 4.7 gigs, but the topic seems to have ground to a halt after that.
I have a 4.36-gig video/movie file (suffixed "ISO," if that's relevant) that I tried to burn to a 4.7-gig DVD-R, but the DVD-R says there's only 4.28 gigs available. I tried this on three different disks from two different packages.
What can I do to burn the file onto a DVD-R?
I have Final Cut Express if that can be used to reduce the size a little bit -- I've never used the program, so any instructions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Al -- thanks for your reply. I actually e-mailed the file's originator and he suggested using Disk Utility instead of just trying to drag the files onto the DVD-R. He said it would fit if I did this, and darned if he wasn't right!

  • Putting MIDI files onto an Ipod.

Is there a way to put MIDI files onto your Ipod?

One option is to load the midi file into iTunes (via "add to Library..." menu), and then "Convert Selection to MP3..."
Then you can treat it (the MP3 copy) the same as any other MP3 tune.
At least this works for me, with with MacOS X v.10.4 and iTunes 7.0.2.

  • Putting 2 vob files onto 1 DVD -Please help

I borrowed a handicam that burns to mini DVD, as mine broke. Usually I import files as DV on the mac from my camera and cut them together there.
With this camera, I have two halves of a recital that I want to put onto 1 DVD. I saved the DOB files from each mini disc ont my Mac and I figured I would just put them both into iDVD or edit with iMovie and burn onto 1 DVD, but I cannot import or use DOB files with them. I also have Final Cut Express, but again - no DOB files. iMovie won't take them.
I tried converting the files with VLC or MPEG Stream on a PC but the audio and video don't sync.
All I want to do is put both VOB files on a DVD that will play in a DVD player.
Please help me! I am extremely frustrated and under a deadline...

Make your sequences, export out as DV AVI files, bring them into Encore and author as usual.

  • How to burn VOB files onto a DVD?

Hello everyone, I've seen this question asked in other forum postings, but I can't seem to find the specific answer I'm looking for. Basically, I have several VOB files that I want to burn onto a DVD that I can play in a regular DVD player. Can anyone please recommend any applications that would be good to do this? I appreciate any help and support I can get, thanks!
    ibook Mac OS X (10.4.10)
    ibook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

If have the complete set of VOB files for a DVD, put them in a folder named "VIDEO_TS" and use DVD Imager
    <http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html>
to make a .dmg file that can be burned to a DVD.

  • Putting iphoto slideshow onto a DVD

I saved my iphoto slideshow to Quick Time Player, but when I try to send it to imovie I get the message "imovie has not been setup". Is there another way to put a iphoto slideshow onto a DVD without having to do the whole thing over on imovie?
    Gordon

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium, 640 x 480.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • How do i burn files onto a DVD??

I got a NEC 2510A and it didnt come with any software
I put in a DVD disc and windows doesnt seem to have the ability to burn files onto it like a regular CD-R.
I guess i have to use a program?
What is the most popular program for burning files onto DVD discs?  I am not copying DVD's just using the discs as backup for files.
    Help thanks!

Adeptecs easy cd/dvd creator, also works and has improved greatly from 5.0.  It now almost competes with nero, there is also discjuggler and several other burning suites.  Depends on what you want to do and how much you want to spend.  Probably nero will be your best option.

  • Putting big files onto your zen tou

    Hey there,
yesterday I installed the zen touch playsforsure firmware & explorer and of course tried to get some files onto the zen. Pictures and small files worked, but when I tried to put a file of 3,5 GB on it, the zen gave an "unknown error" and it didn't do anything. Why isn't this possible?
(And, no, the zen is not full , i've got 5 GB left)
    Greetings!

Although I'm not sure about what the exact size limit is for the file system I take it its 2gb , but if you haven't already done so Microsoft has a hotfix, for MTP players, for files which encounter an error when attempting to transfer it from the player to the computer.
    Download it <a href='http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;89536' target=_blank>here[/url]
Files will transfer fine to the player but encounter an error going the other way, download the hotfix and you should be fine if you encounter that problemMessage Edited by DM on -2-2005 09:3 PM

  • Burnin a large iMovie file onto multiple DVD's.

I have a large iMovie file on my hardrive. I would like to back it up onto a DVD, but it is too large for a 4.7 Ghz DVD. Is there a way to copy the file onto several disks?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

Disk storage is cheap. For a modest amount of money, you can easily buy an external hard drive that's several times the capacity of a DVD, so I suggest you simply back up your movie file to an external hard drive.
If that option doesn't appeal to you can probably use iDVD to divide the movie file up into chapters, then burn the chapters to different different DVD discs.

  • Putting .avi files onto DVD

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question (and I can't seem to find any other threads about it), but I have a bunch of TV Shows in .avi format on my computer. I'd like to be able to place them on a DVD where I can simply watch them on my TV or through a DVD drive. Is there a way to do that with iDVD or is it iMovie that I need? Thanks for any help!

I might be able to help...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2091550&#2091550
a post discussing playing .avi files. Download the divx component to enable Quicktime to play majority of .avi files. Anything that Quicktime still can't play can be played in VLC.
I had 3 .avi movies, one widescreen, and couldn't burn them in iDVD. They previewed, tho, so I converted the widescreen into .mov using Quicktime (Pro only?). Quality was still good. Without converting the other 2 .avi files, I easily burned all 3 (1 .mov and 2 .avi) using iDVD.
My theory is that iDVD can burn .avi files, just as long as 1)they play perfectly in Quicktime and 2)at least one .mov file is included in the burning.
But I've no idea why this worked, and it was the only time I tried it, so it might not work. Although the 3 .avi files were exact same format (DivX 6.0)
You can use an iPod converter, like iSquint, to convert any .avi file into iPod format, which obviously plays in quicktime. Just make sure H.264 is unchecked, since it degrades quality for TV viewing.
oh yeah, iDVD burning and Quicktime converting takes really long! I had to leave my iMac on overnight once for each.
    Hope this helped
    peace

  • Need help quick! Please! How do I burn Picture Files onto a DVD?!

When I put in a blank DVD, it doesn't show up in finder. So i thought i'd try using the Disk Utility. I select the DVD on the side bar and press the "burn" button. The picture files are grey and unelectable; i actually didn't see a selectable file. Please please help, I need this done in 30 minutes! Do i have to burn them onto CD's?

Since I have no idea what Operating system your using I will give it for both Tiger and Leopard.
Mac OS X 10.4 Help: Burning a CD or DVD
Burning Data CDs and DVDs in Leopard and Tiger
Mac OS X 10.5 Help: Burning a CD or DVD
Depending on which version iPhoto you have that could also be used. More detail would help make answering easier.
