Putting slideshow on DVD for use in DVD player

I have a slideshow that I need to burn onto a DVD for use in a regular DVD home player, not in a computer. Can I do this with iPhoto? If yes, how, and if no, then can I use iMovie instead?
This is urgent!

Urgent? Then in iPhoto Share -> Send to iDVD. You need to create the actual DVD in that app not iPhoto or iMovie.

  • Can't Pause Slideshow on DVD player

I'm new to iDVD 6. Created slideshow and burned DVD without a problem. It plays fine in DVD player, but if I hit pause, slideshow ends and goes back to main menu. Just want to create simply slide show that you can pause to talk about the photos then move on.
    thanks in advance.

And, in addition to SDMac's great advice, if you already have audio on the slideshow, maybe this is what is wrong?

  • I downloaded Motion 5 onto my laptop for working while on the road. I want to put it my desktop for use at home how do I transfer the software to the desktop?

    Super new to Motion 5
First..the easy ?,  I want to transfer the software from laptoip to desktop for use at home.
Second, I bought this to try to animate a steam engine and the various implements that it can power. I started with a jpeg and then wanted to make a flickering fire in the cumbustor, show the heat rising up through the boiler, piston moving etc.. does that need to be done in separate layers like in photoshop elements and then attach the behavior or separate groups?
    Thanks!!

Reply to "First ... the easy?" Hopefully it is easy. If the desktop has the same log-in to the App Store as the laptop then all you have to do is:
    1. boot up the desktop and log in.
    2. go to the App Store and check for software updates (click on the apple in the upper left corner - it's a Mac, isn't it? - and select "Software updates ...")
2a. If it isn't a Mac, then go to the App Store and log in with the same name and password as what the application was bought with,
    3. With a Mac, the App Store will check the computer for for updates, discover Motion 5 isn't there, and let you download it.
Unless there is something unusual, that should about do it. Hopefully I haven't muddled a step, but if so, hopefully you can work your way through.
As for the Part B of the post, the flickering flame, that's going to take more work. Sounds like an interesting project, though.

  • Putting slideshow onto DVD

I thought this was going to be simple. I selected the photos for an album. I matched it with a playlist from iTunes. I can play it in iPhoto, but when I click burn with a DVD in, I get a please put in blank disc. When I go to iPhoto help under Exporting a slideshow to iDVD it says to go to choose Share > Send to iDVD. But I do not see a Share anywhere in iPhoto.
And if I click on iDVD, I seem to lose the settings from iPhoto. I tried the tutorial, but now seem to be stuck in it if I open iDVD. What is the simplest way to get my slideshow w/soundtrack onto a DVD? And how do I get rid of the darned tutorial?

Hi, Kenneth. The iPhoto 4.0.3 updater very unhelpfully replaced the Help files for iPhoto 4 with those for iPhoto 5, which refer to features that don't exist in iPhoto 4.0.3 — among them Share. So you can ignore the instructions in iPhoto Help for what you're trying to do: you don't really have those options.
Since iPhoto 4 can't export a slideshow directly to iDVD, you'll need instead to export your slideshow to a folder or to the desktop as a QuickTime movie, and then use iDVD to burn it to a DVD. Not being an iDVD user myself, I can't advise you on the latter step.

  • Put slideshow on DVD

I have iMac G5, OS 10.4.11, iPhoto 5.0.4, and i DVD 5.0.1. I want to put a slideshow, with music, on a DVD. The slide show was created in iPhoto.
Here's the problem: When transferring the slideshow to a DVD, using iDVD, a message states that only 99 images can be transferred. I have nearly 350 images. Suggestions on how to overcome this problem will be much appreciated.

  • Putting slideshow on TV for presentation

Hi I'm wondering if it's possible to put my slideshows on my TV to make a presentation. complete with songs and all that. How would I go about doing this?

    Hi dRudo,
You can do that by Creating a slideshow with music > Share > Send to iDVD... from here you can do more customizing of the menu, music etc...
I just did a couple of these and they look pretty good. You've got to do a bit of learning to nail down just how to best do the slideshow but certainly fun and worthwhile.
You will eventually run into issues such as music length v. slide show length, types of Media to use, etc., but all of this can be overcome when you get to that bridge

  • How can I accept certificates for using QuickTime as player in web pages ?

    Hi,
I want to use QuickTime embedded in web-pages as a player for my content.
When I provide a link that is under a certificate, the player (web page that hat this embedded) won't ask for approval of the certificate.
This will make the player un-usable, as it won't be displayed in the page.
How can I see if the content can be played and ask the user to open a new page, approve the certificate and the come back to the parent page and play the media.
    Thank you,
    Cheers,

Well I am actually using a template. And the flash video that
was created is way beyond my ability. So I tried initially to
separate the two, the intro video, and the navigation. But they are
intertwined in a way that I do not understand. I do need to do the
variable thing. I took a flash class in school, and my book does
not touch anywhere close to this. I know its probably too
complicated to explain through a forum, but can you recommend any
resources online or books that would go more in depth with this
sort if thing. If I can just see the way it works on another site,
I know that I can do on mine.
    Thank you!!!

  • No SubPictures on DVD Player

Have seen this listed in the forums several times, but have not found a definitive answer -
    Mac OSx - Snow
    Encore CS3
    Menu created in Photoshop
Auto Sub Pictures created in Encore
Will play find in preview, and on a computer, but no sub pictures on a standard DVD player.
Have - created subpictures manually in Photoshop (=1) layer
    Completely rebuilt the project
    used Adobe templates and buttons.
Same result every time.  Sub pictures show up fine on a computer and in preview, but not when the disc is put in a DVD player.
Has anyone found an actual solution?
    Thanks

    Same result.
Here's a caputure of my last attempt using buttons from the Adobe library.  This doesnt have the =3, but it should still work.

  • DVD Studio burn works on computer, error on DVD Player.  iDVD works fine.

I'm a new DVD Studio user. I've spent a few days researching this problem but am running out of answers. I've had no problems using iDVD. I haven't got a successful burn from DVD Studio as of yet. I've used +R and -R and a few different brands of each to make sure that's not the problem.
I've created the movie in FC Pro 5 and exported the movie as a Quicktime Movie. Imported into DVD Studio. Created a menu. Simulator works fine. Pressed Burn. After burn the DVD Player pops up and plays the movie fine. Put it into DVD player and receive an error message.
Bitrate looks to be set at 4.0Mbps - 7.0Mbps, One Pass VBR.
    Any advise would be great.

You know what is strange I know a few people who have DVD Players that play thingss from iDVD perfectly, but seem to choke out on DVD SP projects. Actually tried it myself to see (in other words, proper compression etc.), the DVD SP discs fail (though they will play on other machines fine) but the iDVD discs work. And you would htink since iDVD uses PCM audio they would have more issues

  • My DVD won't play on a DVD player.

I created an iMovie project. I brought it into iMovie, created a DVD project, titles, chapter headings, everything great. I burned the DVD project to a disk image. When I subsequently burned the image to a disk, it played on the computer, but when I put into a DVD player, it claims the disc is a data disc, and nothing plays. Any clues as to what I did wrong, and better yet, how do I make it work. ~Thanks.

    Hi
When DVD do not play it use to be
    • One has made a Data-DVD and not a Video-DVD
Data-DVDs are made by just popping in the DVD and You see it on DeskTop/Finder and drop files onto it. When Ejected it Burns and result is a Data-DVD
To make a Video-DVD You need to use a program that can structure the DVD into a Video-DVD structure
    a. iDVD can do this
    b. DiskUtil tool can do this from a DVD DiskImage
    c. Roxio Toast™ too
    • Use of Cheap DVD Brand - I only use Verbatim
    • DVD-type used - I use DVD-R as they play on more (and even older) DVD-Players
    • I set down Burn speed to x4 as this gives less Burn Errors ==> Plays better

  • DVD will not play in dvd player

    Hi,
I created a dvd in dvdpro and put into my dvd player and it says it can not play my dvd. Is there some sort of setting that I missed?

You misunderstand. You most likely created and burned an HD DVD in DVD Studio Pro.
iMovie will only build and burn standard DVDs so of course it will work.
Drew put up a link to another thread where this is discussed is excruciating detail. Read through it and you should be on you way to addressing your problem.

  • Do I get charged for using Itunes player or just for downloads?

    Hi,
I never used Itunes before.  I've downloaded the player, completed all my details - user name, email etc.  But the question I have am I charged for using the Itunes player or just for the download originally?

Neither.  The iTunes player is a free download, and there is no charge for using it.
You will only incur a charge if you make a purchase at the iTunes Store.

  • How do I save a slideshow (iphoto 09) and share it for use in a dvd

I created a slideshow in iphoto 09 and want to save it and then share it with another person who will be adding it to a dvd with movies. I originally created the slideshow and then sent it to idvd and then saved it as an .img file but the file could not be imported so I was looking for an option of simply saving my slideshow and sharing it but I can't find a way to do so.
    Thanks

Actually you should have selected the 640 x 480 size or 720 x 540 size as iDVD will reduce what ever you choose to the 640 x 480 size as that's the default DVD size.
Also try using the Share ➙ DVD menu option which does all of the work for you and import the resulting QT movie file of the slideshow into the iDVD menu.
Once you have the iDVD project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • I'm making a DVD for our class reunion.  A fellow classmate has some video on a mini cassette that he said he could put on a dvd.  Will I be able to import from that dvd to imovie to use in my dvd?

I'm making a DVD for our class reunion.  A fellow classmate has some video on a mini cassette that he said he could put on a dvd.  Will I be able to import from that dvd to imovie to use in my dvd?  Or does it have to be in another format, maybe flash drive?

Ask your friend to supply you the DVD as a data DVD using either DV or AIC as the video format, burning the DVD as a DVD for a DVD player will degrade the video quality.

  • I used i-photo to create a slideshow for a 50th anniversary and was trying to download it to a dvd for viewing on a dvd player but can't seem to get the format right so that the player will recognize it.

i created a slideshow in i-photo and was having trouble creating a dvd that could be shown via a dvd player.have already done a dvd of just the pictures that worked fine, would appreciate any input on this problem

As Quicktime Kirk says: buy the retail iLife 11 disk at various online resellers (the Apple Store no longer carries it); also available at ebay.
Other than that, there is Roxio Toast - an excellent application, but costs $$. I use both Toast and iDVD. I've not used or tried any free apps; I am sure there are some - make sure it is compatible with Macs.
