Putting songs in chronological order

I've downloaded a cd directly into my iPad mini..
The question is how can I put it in chronological order..
1234,etc.. thank u

Since tracks on an album are generally released at the same time, there is no "chronological order", so I will assume you mean track order. Nor can you directly add a CD's contents to an iPad (it must be ripped to itunes on a computer first).  If the track order is properly assigned in itunes it show up in correct order in the Music app on the iPad, so that would be the first thing to check (each track should be as 1 of 10, 2 of 10, 3 of 10, for example). If not tagged properly, you will need to delete them from the iPad and then resync once the tagging is corrected.

  • Putting Albums in chronological order?

I was wondering if there was a way to get iTunes to put the albums of the artists in chronological order, rather than alphabitical order. The way I like to have my CDs arranged in my CD case is alphabetically by artists, and if the artisits has more than one album, I want those in the order that they were released, and I just can't seem to find a way to do with with my music on iTunes. Suggestions?

Like you and PT, I also have my (physical) CDs sorted by artist and the albums in chronological order.
iTunes can only set to sort on one column, but sometimes sorting is done on multiple criteria, so iTunes is capable of sorting on multiple columns.
If you sort on artist or album and have tagged the tracks with track and disc numbers, iTunes will also sort on these criteria.
Unfortunately sorting on multiple columns by the user, is not implemented.

Don't use the iTunes Feedback. That link directs to the music request page.

  • Putting tracks into chronological order

I've got approx 14,000 tracks in my iTunes library over a few hundred albums. The tracks on most albums are in chronological order; 1, 2, 3, 4 etc, but some aren't 4, 1, 5 ,6 , 10, 9 etc..., how do I put these tracks into chronological order?
    Thanks in advance, Simon.

  • Putting songs in album order

Has anyone figured out how to organize music into the order that it is on albums? Even if I manually transfer some songs in order, sometimes they are not in numerical order. I have tried reloading, drag and drop, etc. Nothing seems to work? Anyone else had this issue?

  • How do I make a playlist in chronological order?

I'm attempting to make a compilation CD of a favorite artist for a friend and I'd like to present the songs in chronological order. iTunes doesn't like my plan and wants to arrange songs alphabetically by title or by album. I'm not crazy about either, and I know one of you has the answer I'm looking for.

Set the sorting order to the leftmost column (with the numbers) in a playlist.
Now you can drag the songs in any order you want.
    Hope this helps.

If your iMac has a PowerPC processor, Leopard OS 10.5.x is the max OS. If your iMac has an Intel processor, it can run Snow Leopard OS 10.6.x or possibly higher.
Once we know your iMac model, we can better recommend what OS X version.

  • How do i get to put my songs in alphabetical order on my iPod ?

I put my songs in alphabetical order on itunes, i sync the iPod but when i look on my iPod the songs are not in alphabetical order .. anyone can help ??

I'm pretty sure everything from the 'Songs' list on the iPod is automatically alphabetical. It's the same on all iPods as well. Maybe you have some other characters in front of the song name or perhaps you're looking at a song list through another list such as 'Artist' or 'Genre'?

  • Wants To Put Songs In a Particular Order

I've subscribed to spotify in order to build my playlists for my upcoming wedding.
Though it doesn't matter what order the songs are in for cocktail hour, I have a DJ mentality and want to put songs into a good organized flow for the reception. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks for any and all help

    Hello:
Yes you should be able to do this. Just create your playlists, and add the tracks you want and put them in the play order you want. You can do this by dragging each track up or down the playlist order listing you wish for the track to be played in the order you want, after those tracks have been added to the playlists of course. Just make sure you do not click on any of the columns in the playlists as that reorders the track listing accordingly to whichever column you click on. You probable will want to double check these playlists a day or so before the wedding, as the content gets updated daily, so any content not available before the wedding will be unplayable unless you download it previously before the wedding. If you have a permium account, what you can do once you have the playlists set up how you want, with the music you want, and the order I would download those playlists for offline use, as you can keep the music for up to 30 days without a device app resync to update the music licenses. Just make sure before you download the playlists for offline use, you select in the app Preferences for High Quality streaming so they are downloaded in the higher quality when you set the playlists for offline use.
You can set up a test playlist and do the offline listening option in the high quality streaming to see how it will work when you use the device in offline mode without an Internet connection. A broken stream due to Internet issues could put a damper on things with songs having problems streaming over the internet. When you are ready to get the proper playlists downloaded for offline mode for the wedding, just put the test playlist back to online mode, and set the wedding playlists to offline so they can start the downloading procedure. The switching playlists back to online and offline ensures you stay within the 3,333 track download limit, but you should be fine for a wedding though unless it is going to go on for a week. :-)

  • The new update 5.0.1 wont put my songs in alphabetical order

Is anyone else having this problem? is there anyway to fix it?

Click on the top of the Album column to sort the songs by Album order. If you have proper track numbers, this will also do a secondary sort by track number, thus putting the album in the correct order.

  • Putting pdf pages in chronological order

I have several documents in one pdf folder that are dated.  I would like to put these documents in chronological order by date, how do I do that?  I also got a message that some of the content is not editable because it was scanned.  So, if I export this to a Word document, how do I put the pages in chronological order?
    Thank you,
    Slspencer

Use your OS's file browser/explorer to sort the files (in the folder) by date.
Rename each. Top down put a numeric prefix in place.
    000-filename
    001-filename
    nnn-filename
Open Acrobat and use the "Combine" feature to combine the files into a single PDF.
An option available with the Combine feature is to have Bookmarks used. Tick this choice.
The single, new PDF is created. Save it.
Open this PDF file's Bookmark pane. There'll be a bookmark for each of the files.
The order of Bookmarks and the order of PDF pages reflects the order you set when you renamed the source files (a date sort).
Note that you could manually position the order of files to be combined in the Combine dialog.
I find it easier and quicker to add the prefix to the source files.
Using Acrobat XI you'd process the new, single PDF through OCR.
As some of the PDF pages already have renderable text they cannot undergo OCR.
Acrobat will alert you of this when it comes to the first of such pages.
Just tick the box in the lower left. This tells Acrobat to ignore any upcoming pages that cannot be OCRd and to keep on truck'n to OCR the page that hold the scanned image.
Now, use Acrobat XI to export the the PDF to the Word file you want.
    (File :: Save As Other :: <make the desired choice> )
Do not expect a 1:1 export. You have a diverse collection of source files.
While you might get 1:1 if ALL the PDFs combined were well-formed Tagged PDF (compliant with 14.8 of ISO 32000-1 & ISO 14289-1) you don't have that.
So --- To be expected — cleanup of the content in the Word file.
    Be well...

  • Can't get albums/songs in correct order!!! (11.1.3)

I can't get songs and albums to order correctly on my iPod. All but one album has the correct song order on iTunes on my laptop and they are all ordered by artist/year on iTunes, I can't get that ordering method to transfer to the iPod. And on half the albums on the iPod the songs are out of order and/or the albums are out of chronological order.
So I had been using some outdated version of iTunes on my old computer for some time, and with that version and my 4th gen Nano I was able to get my albums arranged by year like I like them.
I bought a new computer (old one still works) and had my iPod stolen about the same time so I had a new computer and was forced to resort to a secondhand 3rd gen Nano, using iTunes 11.1.3, completely unfamiliar to me. Some of the stuff I own isn't off iTunes and that's what I'm having the biggest problem with.
I had the issue of two songs being in the wrong place on one album. The track numbers were appropriate, everything else in the "get info" field was identical to the rest of the album. Frustrated, I once again copied my library from my old computer to my new one. This was a huge mistake.
In an attempt to get everything back the way it was I started messing with the iPod settings in iTunes, checking boxes like "manually manage songs" without having a clue what they did. I tried "converting higher bit songs to 192kbps" due to this old turd not being able to hold all my music otherwise. This helped none.
At least half of my albums were now out of chronological order, some of them were split into 2 albums, (one album would claim to only have one song. It had all 12 or so songs from that album but they were out of order.) Some had all the songs in order but were chronologically incorrect. (2002 album appearing before 1997 album) and some (like the one I got off a CD) are impossible to order correctly. I manually filled out every. single. field. in the "properties" section. The track listing still goes like 2,3,4,5,1,10,7,8,9 or something like that. It is just infuriating.
I have just had it. I've tried everything I can think of, I've scowered the internet and can't find anything helpful.
I'm at the point right now where I think it would be easier to just buy 50 CDs and use those to listen to in my car rather than have to deal with Satan's idea of user-friendliness. Any help is greatly appreciated, I've just had it.

This is a programming error, obviously - to me. Is someone addressing that issue? Anybody?
What behaviour exactly do you consider to be a programming error? If repeatable and clearly not an intended design choice then a bug report might be in order. If it works as designed but you think it should work differently then feedback would be the way to go. Either way nobody is likely to address an issue that isn't brought to their attention.
I am unable to put the songs of a playlist I created in the order I want. iTunes 11.1.3 has been on my machine since September of last year and this issue began today. I'd lke to believe it's the result of something I have done, but the world is full of things I would like to believe that are not.
"View Options" was set to 'manual' and songs would snap back when I attempted to move them, so - as that was the only preference I could find that applied - I changed it to "Artist Name" and back to manual. Now they don't budge when I attempt to move them.
Ah, when viewing a playlist use the List view and select the heading of the left-most column of numbers. This is the Play Order column. You can drag tracks up and down the list. If you sort on some other column and would like to use this as an initial order which you can then modify, right-click on the playlist name and click Copy to Play Order then select the play order column. Note the triangle should be pointing upwards otherwise the list will play in reverse on your device.

  • Album Art in Chronological order

Ok so I finally got a Lion OS (whilst kicking and screaming) and thus involuntarily downgraded to iTunes 11. It looks nice but the more I use it the more I realize how impossible it is to customize or at least have a similar organization to my iTunes 10.
One thing I can't seem to do at all that is driving me nuts is I'd like to click on a playlist or an artist and see the albums and cover art in chronological order. List view is the closest it gets, my playlist is in the same order, but there isn't a way to view the album art anymore -- it should be a category at the top that can be added -- but it's not. Grid view looks nice but Apple decided I needed to always view these in alphabetical order -- no compromises -- not sure who decided that but they should not be on the UX team for iTunes anymore. Artist view is really annoying -- doesn't show details, breaks the tracklisting to two columns...
Seriously. All I want is to view my albums with a picture in the order I put them in.

Well, it's also more difficult to search this forum than it used to be. I couldnt find anything while searching, but this result poped up at the top of "More Like This" after I posted.

  • Songs arent in order on Ipod

Hi all just a quick one i hope someone will be able sort out for me. Some albums i recently put on my ipod dont play in order. they are in order on itunes an even in order on my ipod when looked at on itunes but not when i disconnect an play! ive tried everything, going on get info and changing tabs an track listings etc but still to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks, Kev

mhm ... are the songs shown in order if you look at them on the iPod display (not the iPod in iTunes). if not, it's most likely because you havn't entered any "track number" information. without those, the iPod naturally can't sort your songs.
but since you say iTunes DOES sort them correctly, and iTunes shouldn't be able to do so if there are no track number infos, I guess you entered them correctly.
only other thing I could think of is that you accidentelly have shuffle turned on? press the center button a couple of times when you are playing a song. you will get to the "shuffle"-option at the bottom of the screen, if it is turned to "songs" or "albums" then that is your problem. turn it to "off" and the problem is solved.
if shuffle IS off ... uhm ... I don't know. If your songs are tagged correct and shuffle is off your iPod SHOULD play them in the right order ...
