Putting songs on to my Nano

I can put most songs onto my nano, but there are some songs that just will not copy over. ITunes comes up with "disk full or unreadable" or something like that. It's only with some songs but the rest of the album will copy fine. Whats going wrong?

Check your preferences under the music tab for your device in iTunes.

hello! i just got my ipod nano (4gb green)and it says to put songs on your ipod manually, click on your ipod under 'devices', which i did. then it says, if the summary pane isnt showing, click on the summary tab. what is the summary tab? i dont have one! where is it? how do i put the songs on my ipod! ahhhhh! please help me!

ok 2 add manually first you need to set the ipod to do this. On the left hand side you will have a list of stuff and somewere about halfway down you will see your ipod. Click on this and in big panel you will see the option 2 update manually, apply them settings and to add the stuff all you need to do is, click on the top music bit on the left side, select the music in the big window and drag it over to your ipod bit on the left. all going well you will get a spinning thing showing next 2 your ipod bit and it telling you what going on in bar at the top

  • Putting Songs From One Ipod Nano Onto Another!

My kids both have ipod nanos. One has the 1st gen. nano and my other one has the 2nd gen. nano. My son with the 2nd gen. ipod nano, he accidently deleted all his songs. Anyway,he wanted to try to put all the songs my other son with the 1st gen. nano on his 2nd gen ipod nano. IS there anyway to do that? Can you copy and paste songs from the 1st gen. ipod nano to a 2nd gen ipod nano. If you could please tell me how. It will be a great help. Thanks!

I am guessing that your computer does not have the music library your #1 son has right? If your music library simply had the music #1 son has then simply sync the same songs to #2 son's ipod.
If this is not the case then there is NO way of getting music from #1 son ipod to #2 son ipod directly without going thru the computer. Hence it is vital to have the songs from #1 son ipod in your itunes music library for #2 son ipod to have the same music as #1 son has.
    (confused yet???)
So you either need to get the music from the #1 son ipod to your computer itunes library or say that #2 son is out of luck. which is not good
So look at this link of a previous discussion for software that will get the music from the ipod to the computer.

  • I can't put songs on my iPod Nano.

    I get these messages:
    http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/423/ipoduo0.jpg
And a frequent, "The required folder can not be found." (or something along the lines of that)
    Help!

    First, backup your library.
Then, that sounds like a problem that StarDeb55 pointed out to me, documented at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300554
...where you would basically use the Restore function of the updater to wipe the iPod clean and restore it to out-of-the-box settings.
There was also a pretty good general troubleshooting doc here...http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976 Cheers!

  • Cant put songs on New nano

    Hey guys!
I just got a 1gb iPod nano. I've been getting 2 error messages since I've been trying to put songs onto to it. When I plug the nano into my computer and start up Itunes, i get this message
"Songs on the ipod Jenn's Ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist."
And when I actually am able to drag and drop one of my playlists into my ipod, I get this message,
"The Ipod Jenns ipod cannot be updated. The disk could not be read from or written to"
But the ipod is connected to the computer...it charges and everything. I have the latest version of iTunes and I have tried the 5 R's. But they haven't helped. I'm just confused and I'm hoping someone out there can help. THanks for your help!

  • TS1363 Putting songs on a new iPod nano

I have a new iPod nano.  When I plug it in to put songs on it, I get a message "An iPod has been detected but could not be identified properly".  I have uninstalled and installed an updated version of iTunes, but still get this message.  How do I get iTunes to identify the iPod?  Thank you!

    Hey gotfaith,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities! There's an article that addressed that exact error message on iPod nanos. Check out the article here, go through the troubleshooting steps, and it should resolve your issue:

  • Skipping songs and only letting me put 300 songs onto my 4GB nano

On my 2nd generation nano ipod, it will play a couple songs and then skip a lot. Certain songs will skip and certain songs will play. any suggestions?
My other problem is it will only let me hold about 300 songs on my 4GB nano. Right now i have 326 songs and it says " 2.12 GB required, 47.58 MB remaining" I'v had his ipod for about 2 years.

While I think the first may be related to the second, I will pass on it.
The song count can vary widely depending on the format and quality of encoding. What are your songs encoded as, and what bitrate/quality are you using?
Are all your songs encoded the same? Easy way to check that is to enable the "kind" column (right click on the column headings) in your main iTunes display then sort by that column. Quality/bitrate can be seen using the "bit rate" one.

You'll need to be connected to a Wi-Fi source in order for the Photos to download to your iPod Touch.

  • Playlists, songs not displaying on nano

I am unable to see any new playlist or song in my iPod nano.
I just purchased a 4GB black nano, installed iTunes 5.01.
To try it out, I purchased 1 album and 3 individual songs. iTunes created a playlist called "Purchased". All songs were downloaded and put into this playlist.
I have tried both option setting to auto and manual updates. I can see my iPod and everything as it should be from iTunes but when I browse the iPod nothing shows up.
I have restored factory settings and tried again.. Still nothing shows up despite I can see it in iTunes.

Hah! I figured it out. I had a virtual drive mapped to d: (from the subst command in my startup). I removed the mapped drive and all was well.
I had a hint that this was the problem from another thread.
I wish it could have at least given me an error message that would have given me a clue..
Anyhow, problem solved and everything is working great!

I have a similar problem, except we have a computer. However, we are not connected to the Internet. One day last week my daughter came to work with me and used her iTunes gift card she got for Christmas to go with her iPod. She was able to download some songs just fine. This week, she mistakenly erased them but they were backed up to my computer at work. So I opened the folder and copied the songs to a CD and brought it home for her to put back on her iPod. The problem is that it looks like we need to be connected to the Internet just to be able to copy the songs from the CD to her iPod. Is this right or are we doing something wrong. It keeps saying that the computer is not authorized to play music (or something similar to that). Can someone help with this?

  • Unable to put songs on Ipod

    Hello,
I have a Ipod Nano I think its the 5th generation. Anyways, I originally set it up with my laptop but since my laptop got stolen I got a new laptop and it wont let me put songs on my ipod. I clicked to "authorize computer" but that doesnt work. I get a black circle with a line across not allowing me to put songs on there. I have songs in my Itunes but it wont put them on my ipod...please help!!!

As to how to get rid of the exclamation marks, I would locate all of the music into one or tow easy to find files. In iTunes go to File...Inport. Then, browse for your folders and open them. iTunes should put them back into the iTunes Library folder. You should be able to relocate this folder on your ext. drive. It should be located in a folder called "My music" with a subfolder called "iTunes Music".
As to how to delete all of the duplicate music. I think (but not sure) that iTunes will only load one copy into the music folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • I put songs onto my IPhone 4, and they show up under the "On This Phone" section in itunes, but when I go to play the songs on my phone, they aren't there. How can I fix this?

I put songs onto my IPhone 4, and they show up under the "On This Phone" section in itunes, but when I go to play the songs on my phone, they aren't there. How can I fix this?

When you look at your iPhone, are you looking in the Music app or in the iTunes app?  Be sure you are looking in the Music app, and look in the Songs category.  If your songs are not here, you may want to try syncing your information again through iTunes.  To do this, uncheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync in the bottom right corner of iTunes, and then recheck "Sync Music" and then click apply or sync again.
    I hope this helps!
