Putting songs(tracks) into an album

I have loaded a CD into itunes but many of the tracks have appear in seperate albums(with the same album title). How do I arrange the tracks into one album. I have tried "get information" but all the relavant headings etc appear to be the same. Nor do appear to be able to "drag" the tracks into an album. Please can anyone help.

Check to make sure that the album title is exactly the same for all the tracks (copy and paste the album name from one track to make sure). Any variation, even an extra space, will cause iTunes to treat the track as belonging to a different album.
Hope this helps.

  • When Transferring to iPhone, iTunes Splitting Tracks Into Separate Albums

I have an album in iTunes; when I transfer it to iPhone 6, it puts 2 tracks into a separate album on the phone. All "Get Info" fields are matching; using latest versions on both Macbook and iPhone 6.

Sounds to me like you want to go into Settings > Music and turn Group By Album Artist off.

I recently recorded a few tracks from a CD album into my iPod Touch and each track shows up on my music screen as a separate album (all showing the same album cover art). How do I combine these tracks into one album/ help!

    Welcome to AD!
Usually, they all need to have the same exact tags for Album & Album Artist.
Or maybe the "Part of a Compilation" checkbox is giving problems.

  • Consolidate tracks into one album

I have the latest version of itunes and I ripped one of my cd's last night.  It's a 2 disc album and it ripped disc 2 fine as one album, but disc one is all separate tracks.
I have selected all the tracks and clicked "get into", changed all the info to the same and it used to combine all the tracks into one album, but now for some reason it won't work.  I have tried the "consolidate" option and that doesn't work either.
I don't particularly like the new itunes interface to be honest, it looks very cold and uninviting
Apologies if i'm on the US site of Apple, I keep changing the page to UK and it keeps reverting me back to US again!

    Hi there.
Thanks for your reply.  I was trying to do this last night, I updated to itunes 11 a few days ago.  I turned on my laptop this morning and found there was another update, so I updated and now it works!
The album in question is a various artists one, so I change the album artist to various artists, so it preserves the artist name on each individual track.
I don't know about you, but when an album has more than one disc, I always re-number the tracks and combine them all into one complete album, it looks tidier that way, instead of having disc 1, disc 2 etc.
I guess I'll have to get used to the new interface of itunes, as long as it works properly that's all that matters I suppose.

  • Putting selected images into an album, without dragging

Once multiple images have been selected in the library of iphoto2, how can you put them all into an album ?

If you have numerous photos selected, if you drag one, the rest will come too.

Can I use Consolidate Files to move different tracks into one Album?

No, that's not what the Consolidate command is for. That command for getting all your track files into a single folder. To get all the tracks in an album to appear together, just Get Info on the tracks and make the album name all the same for each track. See:

  • How do I put a group of tracks into one album

How do I put a group of songs into one album?  They copied separately into iTunes.

Generally, in iTunes, all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist to keep things together. For older iPods each track from the same album should have the same artist, or be marked as a compilation where appropriate. On iOS devices you may need to go to Settings > Music > Group By Album Artist > On. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.

  • I have 500gb of music and itunes separates album tracks into individual albums any ideas how to fix?

    please help!!

That's normally not a helpful information.
But, as your problem is well known ...
The way iTunes groups files (songs) into a Album depends on the entry in "Album" if "Sort by Album Name" is checked.
All songs from an Album should have the same entry in the "Album" and "Album Artist" field.
To regroup the albums choose all songs from the album at once (cmd+click) right click -> get Info -> and put the appropriate info in the two fields.
If you sort your Albums by other information e.g. composer, the songs get grouped by this feature.

  • How do I get iTunes to not sort 2 or more songs automatically into an album?

Hi everybody. It's my first time here so take it easy please .
I get my iTunes music by getting MP3 files and then dragging them into iTunes to get my music, and then I sync.
However, I have a problem. For example, I drag Song 1 to iTunes and it shows up. I then drag Song 2 to iTunes and it makes the two into an album, same or Song 3, 4, etc.
I want the music in my iPod to be organized with the bars with the 26 letters. In "N" bar I get Not Afraid by Eminem, in "M" I get Man in the Mirror, etc. I want that. Thanks for the help, I appreciate any solutions.

Thanks, but that's not what I mean. I don't want my songs in an album, when I synced on my iPod it just says Shuffle and below that is just a regular list of songs. I want the bars with the letters on top.

  • When i import a compilation cd how do i get all the tracks into one album in the music library. They are currently listed as individual tracks or albums.

When I import a compilation CD the tracks list as individual albums. How can I get them consolidated into one album?

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For a compilation use Various Artists and also set Part of a compilation to Yes on the Options tab of Get Info.

  • Combining tracks into one album, choosing track order

Hi, I've searched this forum and haven't been able to solve this yet.
I have a bunch of b-sides that I want to add to an album proper. Say the album has 12 tracks. I am able to add an additional song to the album, which increases the track count to 13 tracks. Only problem is, track number 13 is at the top of the list (album view), so the play order is 13,1,2,3 etc....
I have experimented with the "track number 13 of 13" option, and although the info tells me it is indeed the last track of the album, iTunes refuses to show it numerically in order.
How do I make it so these additional tracks play at the END of the album, and not the beginning, with the ultimate goal transferring the entire thing to my iPhone?
    Thanks!

    Ryan:
First off, in the Get info>Info pane, make sure that they all say disk 1 of 1, OR that there's nothing there at all. Also make sure that Artist and Album Artist match up.
Second, go to the sorting pane, and make sure that anything you've added matches what was there in the first 12 songs.
See what those do for you--
    Best of luck,

  • Why is iTunes splitting my albums songs up into multiple albums

i have ticked the box for varies artists and in the sorting tab i have even done cd1 and cd2 but they are still showing up as albums.

    Hi, trucker2006.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that music you are importing is not grouped together in iTunes.  Here are some steps that will help you with this.
Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together?
