Putting text on top of a custom shape

If I put text on top of a custom shape I've added, the text doesn't show.   I know it's there because if I change the opacity of the "shape" I can see the text is in fact there.   How do I force the text to be on top of the customer shape?   I'm using the shape as a "thought bubble" so one would think this is a common thing to do.

It's probably not because of the shape. First of all check your color square to be sure the text isn't the same color as the shape. Also, you may  need to make text very much larger in PSE than you normally would, because text size is dependent on the resolution of the image. A high resolution image can need really big text before you can easily see it. Don't be afraid to type in a much larger number than is available in the pulldown menu.

  • How can I put text on top of a graphic in Framemaker 11?

I am using Framemaker 11. When I import an image from Photoshop (EPS file) and put a text box on top, I can't get the text to be on top of the graphic without jumping to the next page. Is there a setting that I'm missing in Framemaker? The image is just borders, like a frame, and I'm trying to put the text inside the blank space.

I suggest you use the text frame tool (to the left of Arnis' supplied screenshot) and set the background of the text frame (the diagonal b/w lines below the text frame tool) to None.
When all else fails, add the text to the graphic, save as PDF or other appropriate format, and place as needed.

  • Putting text on top of image

I'm sure I've done this before but I just can't remember how.
What I want to do is have an image with text over the top of it.
However, the image can not be a background image because it needs
to print. How do I do this?

There's no way that's really pretty. The easiest and most
    expedient, if
it's not too much text, is to make it part of the image. Make
    sure you
include the text in the alt attribute... Other than that, if
    you're
using positioned divs, you can put the image in one div,
    duplicate it,
give the duplicate a higher z-index, and put the text in the
    higher z-
index div. Or if it's really an issue (does the background
    /have/ to
print?) is to make it as a PDF.

  • What method u use to out put text

what method u use to out put text  is top ....end top or write_form.
say me 1 reason for using write_form rather than top...endtop.

Logic Pro is a professional application that is available very cheap, so that professionals and amateurs alike can use the same tools. This is because the cost is subsidised by the cost of the mac computers.
A reciever that has optical, coax and HDMI would be a consumer grade home theatre system. Mixing to 5.1 is a highly specialised task, and you are very unlikely to get good results through a home theatre system, even if you could plug it straight in.
Professionals who do 5.1 mixing with Logic (I am one of them) would have a serious multichannel external audio interface, and would plug the disctrete outputs from there into a monitoring system setup in a properly designed room. Anything less would result in a mix that would sound different everywhere it is heard, and probably only good in your room.
The mix as done by logic provides a file or files that are 6 discrete channels. You would then use a program like "Compressor", (previously available with Logic Studio and not to be confused with an audio compressor) to convert the files to one of a number of possible formats.
The format that your receiver would be looking for would be a Dolby digital format, a licensed format designed especially for home theatre. If every mac was designed to deliver that natively so the very few who might use it are able to access it directly, every mac user would have to pay more. This wouldn't make sense.
    Sorry.

  • Putting text in a shape vs in a text box on top of a shape

I want to put text in a shape (eg a rectangle). You can put text directly in the shape, or you can put text in a text box on top of the shape. I am interested in the pros and cons of these two methods.
It seems to me that putting it directly in the shape is better (if you are going to fill the shape with text). I don't see that using a text box adds any functionality.
    Any thoughts?
    thanks
    bob

Put the text directly into the shape. Anyway, putting a text box into a shape does not work, I don't think. You can place shapes within shapes, but not text boxes.

  • How do I save a custom shape to use as a text box?

I've finally worked out how to define a custom shape. Is there any way to save it and use it in other documents?

Save the document in which it's defined as a template.
Every document created from this custom template will embed your custom shape.

  • Cant put image on top of another image

    Hi,
I'm using keynote 09 with the 'Blueprint' theme. I'm attempting to edit the master slides by putting a company logo in the corner of each slide. This works fine on slides without images, but on slides with images, keynote will not let me put my logo over the image placeholder. The placeholder image always blocks my logo, even when I choose 'Send backward' on the place holder.
Is there a way around this?
    thanks

    Sorry, I was typing fast.
The problem is that you cannot put images above media placeholders on master slides. One suggestion was to make my image (my logo comprised mostly of white text) a media placeholder as well, therefore I could edit the master slide and layer my new media placeholder (logo) above the default-already-existing placeholder (some architectural image in the blueprint theme).
This works but has an additional problem.
Since my logo is white text, I wanted for it to stand out from the picture beneath it. As I sometimes do, I thought I should place my white-text-logo on top of a small black rounded rectangle with transparency (like a cartouche).
I like to do that because it makes my logo legible, while still showing the picture through the transparency. INdeed, this is easy to do if you are only dealing with pictures and shapes (and not the magical placeholder versions of them)
You can make the shape a text placeholder, and you can make the image (logo) a media placeholder, but you can't group the two together as a unit. And if you group them first, then you cannot make your group (shape+image-logo) a placeholder at all, so you then cannot layer it on top of the default image place holders.
I was saying that I'd have to open my logo in photoshop and put it on top of a 'cartouche' and then import that modified image, and THEN make it a media placeholder.
But obviously it would be easier if keynote just let us properly layer elements as you would expect it to work.
I mean, setting images aside, why can't I create a shape and put it in front of a media placeholder without making the shape a text placeholder?
Of course I can edit my logo and add dropshadow or glow to make it stand out, but even then, I would need to make it a placeholder before keynote would let me layer on top of another placeholder. And if I'm going through the trouble of using photoshop to add shadows or glows, I might as well just put the image on top of a cartouche as originally desired.

  • How to I add text on top of image? I am using pages version 5.2.2

I am working on an apple desk top OSX version 10.9.4. Since the new pages version 5.2.2 came out, I have been unable to add text on top of an image. Can anyone help me? Thanks ahead of time.

Pages v5 is not as flexible as Pages ’09 v4.3. If you want text over a free-standing image in your document, then you will need to place it in a Text Box, Shape, or other custom container created with the Unite, Intersect, Subtract, or Exclude items in the Arrange panel. Simply selecting the image and then, in the Arrange tab, stating move with text; setting wrap to none, and clicking back/ward — does not help.
You will need one of the containers from the second sentence positioned on top of your image. Once your text is input and styled, select the Text Box and the image, then from the Arrange tab, select group to maintain your text/image spatial relationship. If you need the image and its text container to adapt to other text in your document, you can enable the wrap functionality that best suits your document goals.
This can get interesting, because you can independently define the selected Text Box content as a text placeholder, and the image as a media placeholder. Save it as a template. When you open a new document with this template, you can drag and drop a new image onto the old one, and it is automatically scaled and replaced without effecting the Text Box content. You can then double-click the Text Box content and change it.

  • Custom Shape not showing up in animated gif

    Hi guys,
I'm fairly new to this/to PS so apologies upfront and send me elsewhere if I'm in the wrong discussion. But here's my problem: I'm trying to create an animated gif. It's pretty simple and only involves 3 layers, with some tweening for a fade in. Then 2 of the 3 layers are text layers with vector masks (the custom shape talk bubble with some text). But when I add a frame to the animation, select that text/vector mask layer, then add another frame, and select the other layer with the second text/talk bubble and then play the animation, the bubble never appears.
Also when just working with the layers in my psd, I see that when I click away to a basic layer and come back to a layer with the vector mask, I always have to actually click the vector mask thumbnail to see the whole thing on the screen.
    Any ideas? (I said I was new . . . .)
    Thanks.
(Using iMac with os 10.5.7, ps cs4 with latest update.)

You need to sign your app with a certificate that chains up to a trusted root certificate. In general that means you need to get a cert from verisign or someone like that. If you get the friendly warning dialog on the first installer screen rather than the scary one with lots of red x's, you should then see your image

  • Installing custom shapes in PSE 7

I have some .csh files I used when I had PSE 4 and have just upgraded. I've been able to successfully edit the meta data files and install layer styles but can't figure out how to access the custom shapes files. I had expected to click on the double arrow from the custom shape dropdown to get to a "Load shapes" menu but I don't see one. I have Windows XP.

Well, I figured it out by trial and error I guess. Here is the path where you put the custom shapes (Windows and PSE 7.0).
    C:\Documents and Settings\Lisa\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Presets\Custom Shapes
The difference is that we put the layer styles in the path C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Photo Creations\shapes.
Note the difference between "Lisa" and "All Users".
After doing this and deleting the ThumbDatabase.db3 and MediaDatabase.db3 files, PSE rebuilt them and my custom shapes now showed up. WHEW!!!! What a pain. I guess the confusing part was the difference in that some things are for A user and not All Users.

  • MY CUSTOM SHAPE TOOL HAS DISAPPEARED

The tool CUSTOM SHAPE all of a sudden disappeared from the tool bar on the left. (where you can add text, crop, clone, etc.) I uninstalled Photoshop Elements 2.0 and reinstalled it and it's still not there. Can anybody help this grandma before I go into cardiac arrest?

    Mary,
    This might be your problem.
Refer to this screenshot of my PSE2 desktop:
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1ubxepKqYpQJZwRWoXkClf5otuL1Ah1
The toolbar item indicated by the red arrow activates the 7 shape tools. Whichever of these tools is active, that icon will show on the toolbar. In my example it is the Rectangle Tool. If you click on the Custom Shape Tool icon in the options bar (blue arrow), the Custom Shape Tool icon will then show on the toolbar.
If the shape tools icon on the toolbar has totally disappeared I have no idea what happened. Try resetting your preferences file (similar to shat VkSharma said). To do this, press and hold Alt-Ctrl-Shift immediately while starting PSE. The timing is critical, you may have to try this several times. A dialog box will pop up with the question "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings file?". Click YES.

    Premiere Elements 11 Mac.
Best go to the Expert workspace so that you can see what is going on. If you need to use the Quick workspace, then I will point to those directions next.
    Expert workspace
    Video on Video Track 1
Move the Timeline Indicator to where you want the Title placed
Go to Text Menu/New Text/Default Text and click on Default Text
When you do the Titler will open, displaying its Text (opened), Styles, Animation, and Shapes sections.
At the same time, the title will be placed on Video Track 2 at the location of the Timeline Indicator on the Timeline.
When you are finished creating the Title, you have click the "Done" arrows, and the Title is closed, you can always open the Title for more edits in the Titler by double clicking the Title on the Timeline Video 2.
Please review the Creating Titles details in the Adobe document. If you run into any difficulties, please post what they are and we will work through them with you.

  • Custom shape library

    Hi all,
is there a way to have the custom shapes library always open on a panel, like the brush preset panel?
I am using them a lot and I don't understand why I still have to right click to select an other shape, and I cannot  have it on a panel like many other tools (brushes, swatches, style, .....).
If there is a trick I missed, thank you to teach me.
    thank you in advance,
    regards
    Thomas

Your diamond looked like it was square to me. So I centered your diamond over your canvas add a vertical  guide at 50%. Measured your square to be 190 PX  Dragged out a 190 PX square shape no fill 1 px red stroke.  Transformed the shape rotating it 45 degrees and moved it up to align with your diamond.   Dragged out a horizontal guide to match your diamond cut. Used the Pen tool to add two control points the square shape. and then use the pen tool to delete the top control point then convert control point tool to convert the two added control points.

  • Putting text in the soldermask

    Hi,
Is there a way to put text in the solder mask layer?
When I try to do so (select solder mask top or bottom/place/graphic/text), the text button is grayed out.
    I'm using Ultiboard V10.01
I'd like not to add an extra silkscreen, for the few letters that nee to be placed in a new layout....
this way, the board will be a little cheaper...
    Thanks
    Stressed user

For putting text in the Soldermask Layer use DXF import

  • Trying to make a custom shape

I'm attempting to create an object out of a square but I need to change the dimensions of all 4 sides, is it possible to manually input the dimensions of each side? 4 by 6 1/2 by 7 3/4 by 6

If Photoshop is your only Adobe product like me. Its not the best tool for something like what you want to create.  To do what you want I would open a new Document or your jpeg. The Jpeg I would use the perspective crop tool to crop the EPS Design to square it up some. Then transform that to the correct aspect ratio you want.  I would then add text layers to on it to get as close as I could to the three line using a font that matches the logo.  I would then make shape layers for the three text layer and merge then into a single shape.  I would then edit the shapes path to make it closer to your image design. Then define a custom shape named EPS.
