  • How to put videos in a classic iPod with the new version of iMovie (iMovie 10.0)?

Hi guys, I've just had a classic iPod, and I've been able to put movies I made with the "old" version of iMovie (iMovie'11) but whenever I want to put movies I've made with iMovie 10.0, I can't, my iPod "can't read them", what can I do to put them in my classic iPod?
I know the videos can only be read if they are MP4, but still, when they are, it doesn't want to be in my iPod...

Share to "iTunes" and be sure to set the size to 480.
In the Share window you'll see a small triangular image next to Size. Click on it to change dimensions.
Once in iTunes you can move it to your iPod.

    Go to
    http://www.digital-digest.com
Search on IPOD. This will explain how to convert video files to IPOD ready files. The programs mentioned (at least three) are free and easy to use.
On this same website is a wealth of knowledge on how to convert DVD files to any video file format you desire.

  • Trouble putting videos and songs on iPod

I was and am still having trouble uploading a wmv file to my iTunes playlist and putting it on my iPod. When I decided to upload the six videos I had already had on my Movies playlist (via syncing) I aborted due to it taking too long. After aborting, however, it removed all 1500 songs off my iPod. Now I cannot drag and drop songs onto my iPod.

I was and am still having trouble uploading a wmv file to my iTunes playlist and putting it on my iPod.
The iPod cannot play .wmv files, so you need to convert it to a format that the iPod can play.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).
Now I cannot drag and drop songs onto my iPod.
Bear in mind you can only do this if the iPod is set to manual transfer.

  • Putting video from TV onto iPod

I want to record live TV and put it on my computer so I can then put it on my iPod.
What can I do to record live TV and what do I need to buy to put it on to my computer?

For starters, it is outside of the scope of this discussion forum to be able to tell you how to record live television. As much as I can say to that you may be able to find some third-party software which will link between your television and PC or use an existing PC/TV tuner card to capture video. Again, it is simply outside of the scope of discussion.
However, I can tell you about the next step after you figure out how to get video from your television to your computer. You will need the following items: a fifth generation iPod, a high-powered USB port (USB 2.0 recommended), iTunes 6 or later to transfer video to the Fifth Generation iPod, and lastly, video content that is in an iPod compatible format I believe you can use Quicktime Pro 7 or above to 'convert' the video into an iPOD-usable format.
Now as for what type of video content should play on your iPOD here are some suggestions for use: video content purchased from the iTunes Music Store, videos that have been converted for iPod with QuickTime 7 Pro using the Creating Video for iPod tutorial, and videos that have been converted for iPod with iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and others.
Below are some additional and helpful video-related guidelines and formats that the Fifth Generation iPOD should be able to play:
    H.264
File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
Video: Up to 768 kbits/sec, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second (fps), Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3.
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, and stereo audio.
    MPEG-4
File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
    Video: Up to 2.5 Mbits/sec, 480 x 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile.
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, stereo audio.

I can then put it on my iPod.

  • Can't put video into itunes or ipod

    Hi,
I did spend some time searching and I tried several things but I can't figure it out. My friend burned me a cd with Wedding Crashers as an .avi file. I used "im too mpeg encoder" to change the file into .mp4, mpeg4. I click and drag it and drop it in my ipod folder on itunes, and nothing happens. I try the same thing except drag it into my library and nothing happens, doesn't even show up. I have clicked on file 'add file' to library and i click on it and nothing happens, and add folder and added the folder it was in. All the files in the folder loaded except the wedding crashers .mp4. If anyone has any suggestions or links to places where this has already been asked and answered I would be very appreciative. Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I need HELP!

  • Very upset that I can not put videos on my 5g 60gb ipod

I paid near $600 for a 5g 60gb ipod of which does not come with any software to help one transfer video to the ipod. Apple expects me to use itunes to surf to their website to pay and d/l music videos for $1.99 or movie trailers.
but what if I have a large collection of dvd movies? well apples answer is to cough up $20 for quicktime pro which claims it can do this, help encode movie files for playback on ipod. To make matters worse you ahve to pay another $20 for the mpeg encoder so you can actually encode vob files into .mp4 format.
I admit I paid a bit more for my 5g because i know the issue apple has had with poor batteries so i got a warranty plan. Well for $500 apple will just screw you beccause you have to cough up another $40 for software that claims it can help encode for playback in the ipod, but the truth it the software hangs at 100% and fails to finish.
please explain to me why I have to pay $40 more for something that does not work and which should come included with the ipod 5g 60gb for $500.
I'm looking for a 1 click solution to convert my dvd movies collection into a playable format which i can upload to my ipod with 0 problems from start to end.

I've spent weeks now trying to take a dvd movie I have and putting it on a .mp4 file format and i'm having lousy luck with it. I've tried videora v2.0 and more than half the time the application hangs/crashes when it gets to the end. Also tried imtoo mpeg encoder and imtoo psp video converter and both of these apps will hang when it reaches the end of the movie and it does this randomly. Once in a while the mentioned apps will 100% convert the movie.
When I bought my 5g ipod it was made clear it could play digital video but apple misleads you because they make it sound like, after paying $500 you would have the tools to do it with included for the price. Even after I shelled out extra money for quicktime pro 7 and the mpeg encoder, it still fails. So far 4 apps can not seem to do the job. Its really a hit or miss if it actually converts a file. Thus far I've managed to convert only 3 movies out of 2 dozen dvd movies I've tried, and I experimented on 3 machines to just be sure.
I am not going to pay extra money to send away my ipod to have movies put on it that I already own, thats not a solution. your solution is to throw more money at the problem to fix it when in fact apple needs to seriously rethink about the blunder they have made and correct the problem.
first apple, needs to bundle/add software which can do the job, ie. quicktime pro with the mpeg encoder. This is their answer to the question people are asking "how to put dvd movies on my ipod". Next they need to have real support for the problem. Myself and my friend have been fighting with apple support for the past few weeks in trying to find a working solution to get dvd movies onto my ipod.
Using itunes to download movie trailers to my ipod is not the same as having a real movie. I find no interest in the poor selection of music videos either. I have my own collection. I just want to use what I have.
I find it dishonorable and a disgusting tactic by part of apple to sell a product for $500 that won't even let you take a dvd movie from your collection and enable you to put it on the ipod. I agree there does not seem to be an easy solution to the problem (I've tried other video app solutions which all fail) however I dont see apple making any real efforts and or documenting the issue.
its like when I first bought my 1g ipod and the battery failed after 1 month, it went from 8 hours of use down to 30min and when I called apple for help they said I had to send it in to be replaced for the price of a new one!!!!! and that is a very real fact!!! So now it sound like I should return my ipod, and buy a new ipod thru some website which will preload it with dvd movies. please, gimme a break. if they can do it then why not just document the process to do this and make the software available for owener of 5g ipods so they can in fact put video on their ipod.
now I have a 5g ipod, battery seems fine thus far but there really is no way to put the video one has collected on it, none what so ever and apples solution is buy their software which fails to work too!!!!
for some reason every aplication I've tried seems to hang when it gets to the end of the movie or its some other problem that leads to a dead end.

  • HELP!! i need advice how to put video to my ipod??

Anyone help, just got my new ipod & i'm having trouble putting video's on it, i can put them in the video library in itunes but they wont transfer over to the ipod?? any ideas as i'm getting miffed ........

iPod only support 2 codecs, mpeg4 and h.264, both have to be encased in .m4v .mp4 or .mov files. If your files are not in one of these formats you'll have to convert them and they have to be under the maximum resolution for the format you chose. Videora seems to be the converter of choice for windows users.

  • Help!!! I cant put videos on my iPod!!

i cant put videos on my iPod, i tried everything. yes, they are .mov files. Yes, my iPod IS connected to the computer and iTunes did recognize it.
please help!! why is it not working???

The parameters given are all within specification. However, you have not stated what your average video data rate is. (This may give some indication as to whether or not you have exceeded the iPod player's playback capability.) You have also not indicated the audio data rate nor the sampling rate. (This may provide an indication as to whether or not you are using the low complexity music profile.) Since you did not indicate the application/preset used, there could be other problems. For instance, if you use the QT "Movie to QuickTime" export, then I would have to ask if your audio was in the VBR or CBR mode.

I think iPod requires special settings when your captured video is rendered to the .mp4 (AAC/AVC) format. I use SONY Vegas 7 video editor which uses the Mainconcept .mp4 encoder (http://www.mainconept.com). Everything is automatic and it has worked flawlessly for me. Just select the templates specifically for iPod video. One is 320x240. Use this if you are not going to output your iPod to a TV. The other setting is 640X480. This takes significantly more memory but gives excellent quality if you output the iPod video to a TV.
Also, I think that Quick Time Pro (upgrade from Quick Time free program for $30 US) can convert and re-save video files to iPod format (not sure about this). Other video editing programs probably have iPod rendering feature built-in or available on web.
I wouldn't blame Apple. Video output formats are, in my unqualified opinion, very complex since each of many different file formats can be encoded using numerous settings to satisfy specific user and hardware needs. Apple probably chose their format based on widest compatibility (downloaded videos, PodCasts, etc.) Note however that not all Podcasts are compatible with iPod.

  • I CANT PUT VIDEOS IN MY IPOD

i hav an iPod Video 30GB
and i've been trying to put videos in for a while.
i converted the videos to MP4 nd the video went in my iPod but with no image. no Video just sound.
does anyone know how to solve this problem?
if u do, please let me know.
    THANK YOU

Did you "customize" the vid? Meaning did you alter the dimensions beyond the vidpod capacity?
    I think it is 320 x 240 using H.264 Encoding.
Though there is a new codec for 640 x 480 H.264 BLC (Baseline Low Complexity)
I think if you have quicktime pro for windows it should convert fime.
