Puzlng Nano prblm - Nano puts dsktp on the frtz and iTunes wn't rcognz Nano

After about a week and a half of not plugging my Nano into my Mac the songs I loaded onto the Nano that I downloaded from iTunes stopped working (this is an irritating iPod function - but I accept it). I plug the Nano into my mac and upon doing so the time, spotlight, modem, volume, American flag and other assorted icons located in the right corner of the upper task bar start flashing. The sequence goes like this: The Spotlight icon comes on first and alone for about three seconds then the volume, time, American flag etc. will come on and all will stay up for about two seconds and then vanish. The sequence then starts all over.
All the while iTunes will not recognize the Nano. However, the Mac sees the Nano because it appears on my desktop with the very telling name I gave it (My Third and Final F@#$%ing iPod). I can open the Nano with Finder to see the various folders - contacts, notes, etc. - I never use.
If I eject the Nano by dragging it into the dock's trashcan/eject icon the flashing icons in the taskbar return to normal.
I am running the most recent version of iTunes and I have downloaded all iPod updates to date.
Now before anyone tells me to do any of the dang 5 Rs let me tell you that I've done all of the ones I possibly can (resetting didn't do jack, retrying a different USB port didn't do jack, restarting the Mac and following the instructions to open iTunes and then plug the Nano didn't do anything and Restoring and Reinstalling don't seem possible since I can't get iTunes to recognize the Nano).
The one X-factor in all of this is that my Nano has been receiving charges during it's hiatus from being plugged into my Mac from a Bose home stereo system. Is Bose the sabotouer (sp?)?
So honestly, what's next?
I'd like to add that my Nano, "My Third and Final F!@#$ing iPod", has also functioned strangely since the day I bought it. Screen freezes during songs, delayed and occasionally unresponsive click wheel as well as consistent failure to shut off when the play/pause button is held down.
Do I have a blue Nano lemon? Or are my Nano and Mac together trying to warn of some impending doom I'm destined to encounter but I'm just not smart enough to decipher the message encoded in the flashing icons in my taskbar?
Any thoughts on or jokes about my situation would be appreciated. And if I'm not being clear about anything ask away and I will answer your question but I swear if any of my answers lead you to think that I all I need to do is reset the thing then I sorely hope you don't go around telling people you are an iPod trouble shooting expert because that would be misleading.
Oh and if anyone else has had this same exact problem I'm starting a very exclusive club for us that you should consider joining.

Try plugging the iPod's USB cable to the Mac, without the iPod at the other end of the cable. See what happens. Try plugging that "dummy" cable to the USB port in your keyboard.
I got something similar. See my question in the same category : "Plugging iPod freezes the Mac".
When plugged to the keyboard I get a message "USB device takes too much power". When plugged to the Mac, I get either a freeze, and sometimes a shutdown. As suggested by someone answering my question, I went to the Apple Store and had the USB cable checked my a Mac Genius. He told me the cable must be replaced. Called AppleCare, my new cable is on its way.

Last night my iphone screen all of a sudden was solid blue and now it is black. I tried turning it on and off. Still nothing appeared on the screen. I put it on the charger and this morning it is totally black. However, when I hit the on and off button, I did hear the text message signal go off. When I turned the volume on and off a big white bell flashed. In the last week, there were some other display problems such as the screen blowing up large. The only way to fix it was to turn off the phone and then turn it back on.
What does all of this mean? It seems like I've had these problems since the iphone 4 upgrade.

How can I put asterisk in the beginning and end of a search parameter..?

I'm developing a program for a user where he wants a search parameter for the description about some purchase orders....
The problem is if the user want to make a search for any word he need to put asterisk in the beginning and end of the word because if the user don't put the asterisk the search will not find anything because the program don't know if the word is in the beginning of the description or in the end or in the middle...
How can I put one asterisk in the beginning and end of the search topic entered by the user internally in the program..? I was thinking using the concatenate function but for this will not work because the program think that the asterisk is part of the word and not..
The search parameter of the Description is in range.. (Select-Options).

In the code desc_search is the select_option that I tell u. I use the DESCRIBE to see first if it is not initial... if desc_search have an entry then access the DELETE to remove all the records that are diferent from desc_search.. This desc_search will have the word with the asterisk... and the question is if it works if I use the concatenate before this... anyway I will try but I think that if I use the concatenate the program confuse and take the asterisk as part of the word..
DESCRIBE TABLE desc_search LINES desc_count.
IF desc_count IS NOT INITIAL.
DELETE core_table WHERE desc NOT IN desc_search.
ENDIF.

Nothing showed in the Podcasts nor the iTunes U.
In fact I also subscribed to Stanford's lectures and despite actually managing to DL them there is still no subscription in iTunes U, just the Intro to Computer Science belatedly.

How can I put content on the AppleTV and have it STAY there??

I want to put movies on the AppleTV and delete them from my computer. I want the movies to be persistently on the AppleTV How do I do that?

Most important thing to realise is that AppleTV cannot be regarded as a storage or backup device - once content is on AppleTv you cannot get it back to your computer.
Assuming you have a backup copy of a movie elsewhere in case your AppleTV fails or needs a factory restore you could either:
- Show the files location using a right click on it in iTunes and delete it from the laptop drive directly but not delete the entry from iTunes. (Not ideal but apparently works)
- Keep larger files on an external drive and change iTunes Preferences not to import to the main library - when the drive is connected you will be able to add new entries to iTunes and synce them. When disconnected iTunes won't delete them from AppleTV as again there's still an entry in the library, just that the file isn't available.
These are workarounds - it's a shame you can't just drag and drop media to AppleTV manually rather than having to sync things.

Snow is water so it could have been water damaged if left in snow for that long.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
