PVC2300 wrong hostname

Hi,
we own two PVC2300. They have new hostnames in their configuration, but both registered in DNS with a wrong Hostname (CAM<mac-address>). I did a firmware update, but no chance. Has anyone a solution for me?
Thanks.

Sorry I may have misunderstood.
Are you registering these with a dynamic DNS service in the cloud?
If so, the IP address you subscribed with would have to match the registered name you submitted..
Or are you doing local DNS on the LAN, in which case the static NAT IP of the Cameras would match you local DNS table (like an /etc/hosts on Unix).
The key is a static IP mapped to a name so the IP doesnt change with subsequent DHCP assignment and make your names assoications wrong...maybe?

  • Wrong hostname in URL for broadcaster?!

    Hello all,
we (almost) successfully installed BI broadcaster in our productive BI 7.0 (after an upgrade).
But the URL in the mail contains the wrong hostname. Instead of the prd-host it contains the hostname of our BI development box.
Replacing the wrong hostname with the hostname of our productive box brings up the right document.
I could not find the place where to change the hostname. Does anybody have a hint where to look ?
The URL looks like this, but instead
    http://hostname_dev.domain.com:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3a
    Thanks for you help !

    Hi Satyabrat,
What is the version of the Solution manager system ?
Please delete the system in SLD and add it again using RZ70.
if u r using solman 7.01 version , goto smsy_setup and synchnorize the system details in SLD.
solman system version is 7.1 ,after system addition check the LMDB* job is completed.
then goto  se38 -> RLMDB_SYNC_TECHNICAL_SYSTEM run the report and select the system.
So it will delete all the old setting and synchronize and update the latest systen details.
Then try the managed system configuration, it will solve the issue.

  • Wrong hostname from DHCP

    Hi,
I've been  following a strange issue between Macs and Windows Server based DHCP for some time.
Mac's got their IP address via DHCP, just like Windows machines.
The compter name is set up in Sharing in System Preferences. Everything seems to be normal.
    Now the fun starts:
When I open a Terminal window I see a completely different name on the command prompt. This probably causes Apple Remote Desktop not to see some clients when they are on, because they have wrong hostname. ARD complains the Mac are offline when I can walk to the Mac and plainly see it's switched on and connected to the network.
So, my theory is, the IP Mac get's was previously assigned to an laptop computer, which goes off the network and the DHCP-supplied IP address is released and next get's assigned to a Mac. Somehow the hostname used by the previous IP lease holder sticks to the IP address and get's slapped to the Mac. Strangely this hostname overrides the name assigned on System Preferences.
Has anyone else observed similar behavior?

    Here's some of my journal:

  • Wrong hostname setting after Sun Cluster failover

    Hi Gurus,
our PI system has been setup to fail over in a sun cluster with a virtual hostname s280m (primary host s280 secondary host s281)
The basis team set up the system profiles to use the virtual hostname, and I did all the steps in SAP Note 1052984 "Process Integration 7.1 High Availability" (my PI is 7.11)
Now I believe to have substituted "s280m" in every spot where previously "s280" existed, but when I start the system on the DR box (s281), the java stack throws erros when starting. Both SCS01 and DVEBMGS00 work directories contain a file called dev_sldregs with the following error:

Please note that the PI system is transparent about the Failover system used.
When you configure the parameters against the mentioned note, this means that in case one of the nodes is down, the load will be sent to another system under the same Web Dispatcher/Load Balancer.
When using the Solaris failover solution, it covers the whole environment, including the web dispatcher, database and all nodes.
Therefore, please check the configuration as per the page below, which talks specifically about the Solaris failover solution for SAP usage:

  • Netstorage wrong hostname & virtual office empty page

    Hi,
I updates our oes box (linux) with the latest patches (not sp's) and
    ofcourse: Nothing works anymore.
When I login into virtual office, click on the netstorage link, I get the
    following message :
    NetStorage getData:IOException
    URL = https://virtualoffice.<mydomain>:443/oneNet/xtier-login
HTTPS hostname wrong: should be <virtualoffice.<mydomain>
So I thought, because of a newer netstorage version, I only need to change
the link and get rid of the ':443' section.
I login with the admin account, click under administration on the service
link and a beautiful empty screen appears.
Every link under the administration gives an empty page.
    So anyone experienced this before?
Can I change the link in a text file or do I really need to change it by use
    of the VO administrators links?
    Anyone any suggestions?

    Peter

  • Adapter Engine has wrong hostname after HSC with Distributed System

I have an interesting situation where I have performed a homogeneous system copy from a standard system to a distributed system.  The only that really has changed is the database server name.  I performed the global host install, the database instance import, and then the Primary Application Server install.
The strange error is that the adapter engine after the install shows the hostname of the database server.  The SLD CIM Instance data shows the hostname of the database server as an adapter engine.  The correct hostname for the adapter engine is there also, but is not updated by the SLD Data Supplier/or RZ70 update.
The SLD entries for the ABAP and Java stacks are never updated after this copy.
I'm pretty much stumped on this one.  I think I picked the correct options for the install.

    Hi,
you said that you have done homogenous system refresh. As a check please follow the below note and let me know if it is helpful.

  • Register soa composite has wrong hostname dest unreachable

    Hi All,
I am trying to register an SOA Composite and getting dest unreachable because the hostname originally configured no longer exists. I have searched the file system looking for anything that has the old hostname but find nothing.
where can i change the hostname? not sure if its a weblogic thing or a manager server thing
    Thanx
    Fred

    Hi,
Yes it is the command line. Yes I give it the correct OIM url. but it seems as part of registering the composite it wants to turn around
and connect to soa-infra so it fails with this
    t3://oimvm.THEOLDHOSTNAME.net:8001/soa-infra: Destination unreachable.
I recently changed the hostname on this machine and I know if I change it back it will work but I would like to know where to change the hostname so I can make the old one match the new one.
    Thanx for the reply.

  • Media files are published to blog with the wrong hostname

    Hi there,
I've changed the hostname of my server and everything is working correctly with the wiki/blog server but when I submit a podcast producer job, although the job finishes without error, the media that's embedded on the page still has the old hostname as the url.
This works internally (as it's the computer name) but I can't see the poster frame or the video externally.
Is there a file somewhere I can tinker with to change this?
Where is the value for this set?
    Many thanks!

    Thanks,
There was nothing for it but to rebuild the server, though it was quicker and less painful than I remember it being before.

  • Wrong Hostname for OIM/OAM implementation

    Hi everyone,
I'm having some issues with OAM redirecting using the machine name instead of fully qualified hostname.
Linux: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6 (Tikanga)
In my base domain I have installed OIAM 11.1.1.5 (OIM, OAM, SOA, OAAM) and in my secondary domain sits IDM 11.1.1.5 which has OVD, OID, ODSM.
For my base domain, OAM appears to be listening on http://machine... when I try to login using http://machinename.domain/7001/oamconsole it fails because the page redirects to https://machinename:14101/oam/server/ and this fails... likewise http://machine.domain:14000/oim sends me to the same oam link and ends up failing
i'd like it to use the fully qualified hostname including domain... how do i do this?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The likely suspects for this would be the settings for the OAM Server(s) and Load Balancing (if set) in the oamconsole. Please check the hostname settings in the "System Configuration" tab in the screens for the OAM servers (oam-server1 etc) under "Server Instances", and in the "Load Balancing" settigns in "Access Manager Settings".

  • Installation using a virtual host created .dbenv with wrong hostname

Discovered that during the installation of a Solution Manager on Solaris that the .dbenv_<hostname>.sh and .dbenv_<hostname>.csh and were created with <hostname> = Virtual name. However the .profile uses the 'hostname' to determine which .dbenv to use. Since 'hostname' returns the actual server name and not the virtual name the db environment is not set.
This is easily resolved by renaming the .dbenv to the actual host name. My concern and question is whether this will cause me issues down the road and also I cannot seem to find anyone else or SAP note that reflects this issue.
    Please advise...Thanks...
    David

    Hello David
We always install using virtual hostnames here, using seperated ip addresses (physical host X with IP Y and virtual host S with IP T) using sapinst option SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<shortname virtual hostname> and we have those profiles with the virtual hostname after installation.
    Kind regards

  • Wrong Hostname reference in SM51

    Dearl All,
We have one BI server where in we have installed the below application servers:
    1. SAP BI Central Instance    (Host1)
    2. SAP Application Server 1 (Host2)
    3. SAP Application Server 2 (Host3)
When I go in TCODE SM51 and click on HOST3 , system is displaying the work processes belonging to SAP Application Server 2. The name of the host (Host 3) is correctly displayed in status bar of SAP front end.
When I go in TCODE SM51 and click on HOST2 , system is displaying the work processes belonging to SAP Application Server 1. The name of the host (Host 2) is correctly displayed in status bar of SAP front end.
However, when I go in TCODE SM51 and click on HOST1 (Central Instance) , system is displaying the work processes belonging to SAP Application Server 1 but not the Central Instance. The name of the host (Host 2) is displayed in status bar of SAP front end intead of HOST 1 i.e., Central Instance.
Has any one faced this issue before? I would appreciate your help on this.
If you need any more details about this issues, please do not hesitate to ask.
Waiting for your valuable suggestions and kind help.
    Regards,
    Faisal

Check your Host name entries in /etc/host and compare them to the Host anem entries in SAP profiles.
You need to compre the host names entries from central instance and your application servers as well.
After correcting the issue you need to restart all your instances.
    Hope this helps.

  • What Is an Appropriate Hostname & DNS Zone Configuration for External DNS Setup?

I setup servers that are hosted on a secure external data centre. The data centre has its own DNSS, so the DNS service is never setup on the server itself, and is handled by the data centre. I have already setup a handful of servers, and they all seem to be working well. Nevertheless, a couple of people in these discussions have told me, that I'm not setting the servers up 'properly' because of the way I'm naming the server - ie., they believe I'm assigning a 'wrong' hostname - and because of the way I'm setting up subdomains in the zone file. Here is how I'm currently doing it:
    CURRENT SETUP:
The server is public, and it is also the ONLY machine publicly in the domain zone. So, if the client's domain is "example.com", there is only one machine that will respond to all services in that domain. Because of this:
    - Server Hostname: "example.com"
    - reverse DNS PTR record points to "example.com"
    -  'mail.example.com', 'www.example.com', 'ftp.example.com', etc, are all setup as A records that point to the same IP address as "example.com".
This has been working fine so far. I have not had any problems with any service, including mail. However, a couple of people suggested that "example.com" is not a fully qualified domain name, and that this setup is therefore  'incorrect', and that it will cause me problems in the future. They suggest I should be setting these servers up like this:
    SUGGESTED SETUP:
    - Server Hostname: "server.example.com"
    - reverse DNS PTR record points to "server.example.com"
    - setup "www.example.com" as a record pointing to the same IP address as "server.example.com", but avoid setting up other subdomains unless absolutely necessary - ie., tell client to use "server.example.com" as the 'proper' address for mail/ftp/etc.
Technically, 'net', 'company.net' and 'server.company.net' can all be fully qualified domain names, if each one of them points unequivocally to a single IP address. An domain name is not fully qualified, for instance, when it points to a subnet instead of a single IP address. Using "example.com" as a FQDN is technically correct. However, what is 'technically correct' and what Server considers acceptable are not always the same thing....
I certainly don't want my clients to have problems in the future, and if OS X Server is going to misbehave because of the way I'm setting up my hostname and zone files, I need to know for sure NOW rather than later!

I'm the "other people" referenced here.
For general information on DNS, please acquire and skim a copy of Cricket Liu's DNS and BIND book.  It was on its fifth edition when last I checked.  DNS server on OS X Server is the ISC BIND server, which is discussed in that book in some detail.
If configuring OS X Server in a data center, the OS X Server box probably does not want (nor need) to be running a local DNS server.  (Running local DNS services just means that DNS server will potentially become part of a DNS DDoS, if who can issue queries to the server isn't carefully controlled.)  Use the DC DNS server(s).
If you want the domain itself to be used as an IP address (eg: example.com), then that's usually an A record, particularly if you're getting email via that domain (and not an MX record going elsewhere).  Some versions of OS X Server have had some issues with setting up this record within Server Admin.app and Server.app.
The previous issues were likely due to stale DNS translations lurking within the configuration, and caching of that data up to the TTL.  (FWIW, this discussion is related to this thread and this thread.)

I started the Database(11gR2) single instnace successfully. Please let me know what all changes need to be done to start the dac(10.1.3.4), informatica(9.0.1 Hotfix 2) server and also OBIEE(11.1.1.7.1)
I did run ./startServerprompt.sh for DAC but still the service cannot be started.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi kt1,
Informatica and DAC is also on Linux servers. As a first step I'm trying to start the services on  DAC and Informatica servers but still no luck.
When I'm Trying to start it gives me the following error in the log
    For Informatica:
Domain service init method is called
java.net.UnlnownHostException: santa.pti.local (which is the  wrong hostname)
it should be picking up the new hostname panta.pti.local
but I don't know where exactly is this information stored and how to get over it.
The same case is with DAC server when I try to start it it's picking up the wrong hostname
Anybody who can help me get through this. I have go ogled  it but so far I couldn't solve it.
Appreciate if anyone could help me solve this.
