Pvlan (promiscuous port) not permitted on etherchannel
This is probably an often-asked question: I've read in the 7K v5.0(2) NX-OS docs, the 6500 12.2SXF/SXH IOS docs and the 5K docs that the pvlan feature cannot co-exist with etherchanneling on the same uplink. This would assumedly include promiscuous trunk ports.
This seems so counter-productive and self-defeating. Especially where the 7K vPC feature is cfg'd requiring LACP etherchannels from the single switch into both 7Ks.
What am I missing here? Is there a work-around short of new dedicated links? The cost of the 10G optics for that approach is prohibitive. Is it possibly on the road-map for some future upgrades?
Maybe I could configure an unconditional port-channel with no protocol, no negotiation? I'm waiting on the vDC licensing to let me direct-connect the lab 5Ks.
Thank you,
Ken Johnson

Pvlan promiscuous port on port-channel (Nexus)
Dear All,
I am getting the followin error:
(config)# interface port-channel4001
(config-if)# switchport mode private-vlan promiscuous
ERROR: port-channel4001: requested config change not allowed
Is there any workaround to have LACP etherchanel to the promiscous port?
Does Cisco ever plan to have promiscous port support on FEXs?Required info:

Nexus 1000v / pvlan promiscuous trunk / Cross-host communication.
Hello,
We are planning the deployment of Nexus 1000v with “promiscuous trunk” uplink ports. We want to be sure cross-host in isolated pvlan will not be possible .
Looking at the picture, I was wondering if the communication between VM-A on ESX1 and VM-B on ESX 2 (both on isolated pvlan) will be impossible as expected.
Example: If VM-A on ESX 1 tries to send traffic to VM-B on ESX-2, the vlan 11 tag is remapped to vlan 10 tag at the outgoing uplink on ESX 1.
Then the flow arrives on ESX 2 with vlan 10 tag on the promiscuous trunk. I understand the promiscuous port can talk to all secondary pvlans, so VM-A can in this case talk with VM-B.
Is my understanding correct ?
Or does the Nexus 1000v have an enhanced cross-VEM mechanism which allow to check the source mac address and know that it comes from pan isolated pvlan and as a result cannot communicate.
Best regards.
KarimHello Karim,
N1k enforces pVLANs across all hosts. Think of all the N1k VEMs as a single switch. In your example, VM-A will not be able to talk with VM-B. We accomplish this isolation by poisoning VEM mac address tables with a null destination. For example, ESX1 would contain a dynamic entry for VM-B that points to a null LTL value. If VM-A attempted to send traffic to VM-B's mac, it would not leave the host.
Please be aware that N1k can only enforce pVLANs for traffic behind the VEMs. If you have other servers in VLAN 10 on the blue switch, it would be seen as a promiscuous port from N1k standpoint. Additional configuration would be required to prevent communication. -
[webgl] sluggish performance ( /dev/nvidia0 Operation not permitted )
We (folks on #archlinux already tried helping) have been at this for hours now... no solution found yet.
summary: webgl works but performance is sluggish(20 to 30fps) which makes me assume it's falling back to software rendering for some unknown reason
already tried many things: vmalloc kernel parameters, irq control left to bios/archlinux, being in the video group, not being in the video group, having an xorg.conf, not having an xorg.conf, different AGP aperture sizes in BIOS, regular gl performance is normal (60 fps (capped to display refresh) in glxgears), only webgl slugs, card (GT 7600 256MB VRAM) should support the required shader language version for webgl (and webgl performance is only sluggish in linux... so I think it must be a configuration issue on some driver/kernel/browser setting?)
Different browsers show different messages when started from the console but I don't know what to make of those and googling them did not reveal any solutions so far either.
browsers tested: firefox, google-chrome(from AUR), chromium
window managers tested: enlightenment, fluxbox
kernel: linux-lts
driver: nvidia-304xx-lts (can not use Nouveau as Nouveau keeps locking up the GPU)
It's a fresh archlinux installation (Ubuntu had the same performance problem btw in case that might be useful to know for looking for the cause).
Everything I tried so far, did not change anything about the sluggish webgl performance problem.
One thing I noticed is that /dev/nvidia0 and /dev/nvidiactl both do not exist until after "startx". Could that be a problem?
Here are some logs, hoping someone sees something which looks suspicious and knows what else I could try to make it work.

Digging around the web I found how to enable fastwrites and did so by
creating a file /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf
with this content:
options nvidia NVreg_EnableAGPSBA=1 NVreg_EnableAGPFW=1
after reboot, startx
cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status

The problem of sluggish webgl performance persists though and the
browsers as described in the OP are still giving the same messages.
Here is some more data, maybe it's relevant...

although, it seems that the OES admin server is up since i am able to access the OES admin console.
i have tried playing around the policies to grant the "weblogic" the priviliges for an Admin but is still get the same issue. Although, when i try to distribute the changes in the policy, "ASI ( Policy for entire Oracle Entitlements Server system ) " still appears in the list of changes.
any thoughts on what the problem is? is there a way to force the distribution of the policy? maybe through the command prompt or other console?
Edited by: user9056644 on Mar 5, 2010 12:02 AMHave you applied CP2 or CP3 to OES? There were enhancements that allows these policies to be scoped within an organization. I only ask to help guide you on distributing policies for the runtime WLS domain. The ASI domain is only for the admin. There should have been a set of resources and policies created as a result of running ConfigTool for your new instance (looks like you named it 'wls'). If no CP, it will be in DefaultApp next to ASI.
You have to distribute policies for 'wls' immediately following running ConfigTool before starting WebLogic or you will put it into a state where it can't be started. The corrective action is to remove the state.ck file under C:\BEA_HOME_10/ales32-ssm/wls-ssm/instance/wls_ssm/work/runtime, distribute policies, restart WebLogic.
If you need to re-run ConfigTool (after installing CP for instance), revert the following files:
<domain>/config/config.xml
<domain>/bin/startWebLogic.sh | .cmd
Revert from the no-ales backups created. Remove the instance folder under C:\BEA_HOME_10\ales32-ssm/wls-ssm/instance. You can then re-run ConfigTool if you have to. -
Firewall service not permitting as it should
The firewall services in OS X Server 10.5.1 are not permitting traffic as expected.
Any ideas here to help me understand why would be appreciated.
IP address block 11.22.33.0/26 has been changed from the original but should have no effect on the example. I don't understand why address 11.22.33.62 hhas no access.

please help - thanks!Hello Marek,
I suppose you are not planning to do any kinds of advanced config using several VLANs and multiple SSIDs so let's just make your configuration simple and working.
In short, you need to remove all references to VLAN 1 and to any subinterfaces possibly related to the VLAN 1. This means in particular (follow these steps in sequence):
Remove the Dot11Radio0.1 subinterface entirely
In the Dot11Radio0 section, remove the encryption vlan 1 mode ciphers tkip command
In the dot11 ssid ciscowifi section, remove the vlan 1 command
After performing these steps, make sure that the ssid ciscowifi and encryption mode commands are still present in the Dot11Radio0 configuration, and if not, reenter them.
Best regards,

Mountain Lion Mac Mini Server Ethernet Port Not Working
I have a Mac Mini Server and once I upgraded to Mountain Lion Server the Ethernet port is unresponsive. It worked before upgrading. Is there something with Mountain Lion Server that is causing the Ethernet port not to work properly?

Posting to G/L accounts with open item management not permitted Fagl_post
Dear Expert,
When i run the foreign cur rev. through FAGL_FC_VAL then system is not post the currency rev on open item on GL account. It showing subject message and also show below mesaage:-
Message no. FAGL_POST_SERVICE012
Diagnosis
You use GL account 210012 in company code 1000 with open item management. However, posting are not permitted G/L accounts in individual ledger with open item management.
Please advice on this issue.
Thanks & Regards,
PankajHello Pankaj,
Is your adjustment account was defiined as OI management. if yes, then t is generally not permitted to use the O/I managed account as an djustment account. The adjustment account is the same as O/I
managed GL account, so the error message FAGL_POST_SERVICE012 is issued. This is justified because open items must be made valid for ALL ledgers in the client but FAGL_FC_TRANS posts ledger specific posting by having ledger group in the document header - Ledger Grp 0L.
The best solution is to assign non-O/I managed account as an adjustment account, and this is the 'standard' solution. Please also check note 884639.

Error : Reading from Aggregation Level not permitted
Hello Gurus,
Could somebody please give some help or advice regarding this?
I have a multiprovider on a regular cube and an aggregation level, for some reason the multicube gives me the following error message when I try to display data using listcube.
Reading from Aggregation Level is not permitted
Message no. RSPLS801
Also the Query on the multicube does not display data for any of the KF's in the Agg Level but when I create a query on the Agg level itself it is fine.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Swaroop.
Edited by: Swaroop Chandra on Dec 10, 2009 7:29 PMHi,
transaction LISTCUBE does not support all InfoProviders, e.g. aggregation level are not supported. LISTCUBE is a 'low level' to read data from the BW persistence layer, e.g. InfoCubes. Since aggregation level always read transaction data via the so called planning buffer and the planning buffer technically is a special OLAP query LISTCUBE does not support aggregation level.

Postings to G/L accounts with open item management are not permitted
Message no. FAGL_POST_SERVICE012
Diagnosis
You use G/L account 200100 in company code RLIF with open item
management. However, postings are not permitted to G/L accounts in
individual ledgers with open item management.
Procedure
If you have not yet made any postings to this account and if the
account is to be used for closing processes in non-leading ledgers,
deactivate the Open Item Management indicator in the company code data
for the G/L account.
Thanks,
