Catalyst 4506 and Modules in Pwr Over state
Hello,
First of all, my excuses for my bad english.
I am experiencing a problem with a Cisco Catalyst 4506.
The switch is filled with 48 port PoE blades (WS-X4248-RJ45V).
The error we receive is:
Sept 5 15:40:12: %C4K_IOSMODPORTMAN-4-INLINEPOWEROVERWARNING: Inline power exceeds threshold: Module status changed to 'Pwr Over'
Sept 5 16:37:04: %C4K_IOSMODPORTMAN-6-INLINEPOWEROK: Inline power within limits: Module status changed to 'Ok'
Sept 5 16:37:04: %C4K_IOSMODPORTMAN-6-MODULEONLINE: Module 6 (WS-X4248-RJ45V S/N: JAB080609GN Hw: 2.0) is online
According to the Cisco website:
Explanation
This message indicates that the measured PoE is at least 50 w higher than the configured value. The switch has either misconfigured PoE or an unauthorized powered device that is connected to the switch and is drawing a lot of PoE.
Out put for the commands sh power details and sh module all are attached.
The switch has no PoE devices on the specific blade.
Atleast not that we know.
Does any one know some other solution?
Thanks in advance.
Martijn GroenleerWell, blade six went offline on the first row of the log i posted earlier.
The problem is, the log doesn't mention in the message which module went offline.
About the 'efficiency' i noticed this also, what could be causing this? Power supplies are already replaced. PoE is on default settings currently.

Please help me to identify this bug id for this , since it's seem a ios problems only.Did you read the release note? The bug you mention only affects the DC power supplies. Looks like you have an AC supply.
It is probably worth opening a TAC case on this issue, in case it is hardware related. -
Message on iPhone 3GS screen Pwr off/on; Cancel / Accept
I manage my business's AT&T account and iPhones. One of my users had his phone go off the 3G network sometime over the weekend. I called AT&T and had them re-send the signal to the phone. I shut the phone off, turned it back on and it seemed to be working fine - accepting email over 3G network, etc.
About two minutes after it started working fine, the phone popped up a message with a black screen that said, simply, "Pwr off/on" At the bottom of the screen were the [red] and [green] Cancel or Accept options. I chose Accept and the phone remained powered on and working fine. I have never seen this message before (and have been working with iPhones since they first came out) and was curious if anyone else has seen the message and knows what it means and/or why I got it. Thanks!That message does come up sometimes - usually when you first activate the phone. I think it has something to do with registering itself to the network. That will also happen if AT&T makes a change to a tower and you're on it, the same message will pop up.
Funny enough, if you hit the Accept button, nothing happens. I expected the phone to restart on its own, but it didn't. I ended up just manually powering it off and back on again. -
L2TP over IPSEC Static NAT trouble
I have a 5510 that i have configured for L2TP over IPSEC, not using AnyConnect. As of right now i have two open issues that i cannot figure out. The first, and most prevelant being, VPN clients are unable to ping/access any of the hosts that are assigned a static NAT from the inside interface to the outside interface. I was able to circumvent this by adding another static NAT to the public interface for the incoming clients, but this caused intermittent connectivity issues with inside hosts.
The second issue involves DNS. I have configured two DNS servers, both of which reside on the internal network and are in the split_tunnel ACL for VPN clients, but no clients are using this DNS. What is the workaround for using split tunneling AND internal DNS servers, if any?
I'm looking for any help someone might be able to give as i've had two different CCNA's look at this numerous times to no avail. The config is below.
To sum up, and put this in perspective i need to be able to do the following...
VPN CLIENT (10.1.50.x) -> splitTunnel -> int G0/2 (COMCAST_PUBLIC) -> int G0/3(outside)(10.1.4.x) -> STATIC NAT from G0/0(inside)(10.103.x.x) -> NAT (10.1.4.x)
A ping from a VPN client to any internal host works fine, unless it is one that is NAT'd. You can see in the config where i added the extra STATIC NAT to try and fix the issue. And this works perfectly across the tunnel but only intermittenly from the internal 10.1.4.x network.
As well as any help with DNS. Please advise, thank you.

: endNo one? I'd be happy to provide any more info if someone needs it, i'm just looking for some sort of direction. I did almost this whole config by myself and i'm completely self-taught Cisco, so weird things like this really through me.
Please help. Thank you -
Aironet 1100 / 802.3af Power Over Ethernet (POE) Support
I was under the impression that the Aironet 1100 supports 802.3af POE. I purchased a NetGear FS108P POE switch, however, when I plug in the 1100, it does not receive any power.
I have seen references in the documentation to a Cisco inline power injector and a Cisco Catalyst switch that can provide POE to the 1100 and maybe they will work, however, will the 1100 only work with those devices?? If so, it would seem that the 1100 really doesn't support the 802.3af standard and that Cisco's implementation of POE is proprietary.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks,
MichaelHi Michael,
As you have discovered (unfortunately) is that the 1100 only supports Cisco Pre-standard PoE :( Have a look;
Single 802.11g radio offering 54 Mbps of capacity
2.4 GHz integrated diversity dipole antennas
Available in an autonomous version only
16 MB of memory with 8 MB of storage
Operating temperature range of 32 to 104?F (0 to 40?C)
**Inline power support (Cisco pre-standard)**
From this doc;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/prod_brochure0900aecd8035a015.html
The good news is that either of the options you listed will work just fine. I would go for the power injector probably just for neatness sake.
POWERING OPTIONS
The Cisco Aironet 1100 Series can be powered either locally using the AC-DC power adapter, or over the Ethernet cable when coupled with a device capable of delivering in-line power, such as an in-line power-capable Cisco Catalyst? switch, Catalyst in-line power patch panel, or Cisco Aironet Power Injector.
The AC-DC power adapter is included with the access point and can also be ordered as a spare part. The Cisco Aironet Power Injector can either be configured to the order or can be ordered separately.
You can use either;
AIR-PWR-A= Cisco Aironet Power Supply-Input 110-240VAC, Output 48VDC, 380 mA-for 1100 and 1200 Series
AIR-PWRINJ3= Cisco Aironet Power Injector for the 1100 and 1200 Series Access Points
From this doc;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_data_sheet0900aecd8045690f.html
Hope this helps! And good luck!

Broadband Noise All Over The Place
Cannot seem to get this resolved after many chats with BT support.
My noise profile used to be about 6dB with FAST path After the bad weather about 8 weeks ago, my noise profile went up to about 20dB and nw INTR.
Ever since it's been all over the place.
Contacted support many times - they say they will look at it and nothing happens. Keep connected, run speedtester etc.
Had a chat with support today, who performed a rest with BT wholsale - got a fantastic connection of about 7mb. All started getting wobbly and has climbed all day back up to about 14db.

Thi is very frustrating - was getting a reasonably stable 4mb at 6db. Now connection keeps resetting all the time and hitting by speed.Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Can a WS-PWR-PANEL be used for POE to Access Points?
We have an AP1010, AP1030, and an AIR-LAP-1232AG. Will they be able to use a WS-PWR-PANEL for POE?
Hi Richard,
The WS-PWR-PANEL only supports AP's with a single B-radio,so I think this will be problematic. Have a look;
Cisco Platforms and Daughter Cards
Access Point Compatibility Matrix
WS-PWR-PANEL
Cisco IPM Support - No
1130AG Series with 2 Radios - No
1200 Series with 2 Radios - No
All Access Points with 1 Radio - Yes (Only with 802.11b radio.)
From this doc;
Cisco Aironet Power Over Ethernet Application Note
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a008039e541.html#wp35628
The WS-PWR-PANEL is EOS/EOL as of May 25, 2006. Have a look at the migration options;

Unable to capture audio from BlackMagic HD Extreme via Voice Over tool
Hi !
I'm trying to capture audio via my BlackMagic HD Extrem card using the Voice Over tool in FCP6, but I can't, no audio is incoming.
I can ingest audio with video using log and capture, then I know my card and my cables are working.
I tried to set the BM card as audio input in my Audio's System Prefereces Pane, but it isn't working either.
I've been looking on the BM website, but I found nothing.
Can you help me ?
ThxThanks for the reply.
Looking at system preferences I found that audio input was set microphone. Don't know how it happened. I switched it to DeckLink and now FCP displays 16 input channels in Log and Capture dialog. I didn't try to capture yet but I think it solved the problem, because before I had only two channels displyed. -
Jabber call to voice mail fails with fast busy over VPN
I have an issue that I ran into with CIPC phones over a VPN. If a CIPC phone called over a VPN and started ringing a phone the call would fail with fast busy at the time the call would be forwarded to voicemail. I found the issue was when remote the CIPC phone would negotiate the g.729 codec, when forwarded to a voicemail pilot over a SIP trunk set to g.711 the call would fail due to codec missmatch when no transcoders are present.
So now I am running into what I believe to be the same issue with Jabber, when on premise the calls to voice mail work just fine, but when remote they fail. I can directly call the voicemail pilot without error, but if calling a phone the call gets fast busy at the point we are forwarded to voicemail. Even though all my regions are set to talk to all other regions on G.711 and the voicemail SIP trunk is set to G.711, I believe with the new features in CUCM9 that a lower speed codec has been negotiated since the we are going over the VPN, or Jabber has done this as it knows it's over VPN (not sure). WIth CIPC I could go into the settings and turn off the Optimize for Bandwidth check box and the call would negotiate G.711. With Jabber I can't find anything that would tell my Jabber client to stay on G.711 and I can only imagine this is a codec missmatch as the following are true.
1. CIPC and Jabber share the same line
2. VPN established and CIPC optimised for low bandwidth un-checked
3. Over the same VPN the CIPC phone can leave a voicemail
4. Over the same VPN the Jabber client gets fast busy once forwarded to voicemail
5. Voicemail environment is Exchange-UM over SIP trunk
6. SIP trunk is assigned a Device Pool, that is assigned to a region that all other regions communicate G.711 to
7. On CIPC if optimised for low bandwidth is checked I get the exact same issue as I get with the Jabber client (fast busy when forwarded to voicemail)
Would anyone know what I can do in CUCM 9 to fix this issue, as said no issue when all devices are on premise. Wondering if there is a service parameter or a way to change the codec selection so the Jabber client attempts to always negotiate G.711. The correct answer would be to get some PVDM DSP resources and kick up a transcoder in my resource group, and that may be what I talk them into doing if I have no other options.We have been getting the exact same thing for almost a year now... since switching to FiOS Digital Voice in May of last year! Every time I call in to report it they 'escalate' the issue but it never gets resolved. The problem seems to be in the initial connection. Most of the time it works fine but, several times a month, after I call to get messages and it starts to play the new message it goes dead and I get the busy signal. I get the same message when I call back: “I’m sorry – that account is in use at this time. Please try again later!” I have even called in with my cell phone and get the same message! I HAVE EVEN used the Internet to see if I could get my messages and, when I hit Play, I get a pop-up saying: “Your Voice Mail box is currently in being accessed; please try again later. If the problem continues, please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-888-553-1555. We apologize for any inconvenience.” This is obviously a software bug that Verizon has no clue on how to troubleshoot OR fix!!! I wonder how many people have the problem and just don’t bother reporting it because of the hassle? When it first started happening they destroyed my entire mailbox and I had to re-enter the complete mailbox setup again – 3 times!!! NEVER let them talk you into that!!! It’s their problem and they need to fix it!!!!!!! I wish I could go back to the ‘normal’ voicemail we originally had… they want hundred$ to switch back because I’d be breaking my #$@%^&* contract! Good luck if you have Verizon………

I have files that have been on my computer for over a year and I have used them several times and all of a sudden they wont open. I received an error message saying they are improperly downloaded or came as an email attachement which is not the case. Please advise
They seem to be word files - they will open if I choose "open with" microsoft word, but if I double click they don't open they are appearing as PDF on my screen. I even opened one and then tried to "save as" making sure I chose .doc and they still appear as PDF
I just created a new document response.doc in word and when I saved to my desktop it appears as a PDF file and I absolutely did not create a PDF or save as PDF it was a simple word
doc.
The message says "Adobe reader could not open response.doc because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example attached in an email and not properly decoded)
The reader version is I believe the most current, I always update when prompted. OS is Windows 8 -
There's probably alot of questions on this subject asked already but I've gone over just about all of the possibly relevant ones that've been already asked and I still can't figure out what to do. I'm trying to move my complete history from an XP Firefox profile over to a Windows 7 profile on another computer. Do I just do it by copying the places.sqlite file within that XP profile over into my USB flash drive, then replacing the places.sqlite in the Winodws 7 profile with the one from the other one? And after the file's in the right profile will I be able to just view all the sites I viewed on the old computer on the new one's history dialog box? I only am transferring my XP history to my Windows 7 because I want to look at stuff several months back and it keeps expiring on me, even to the point of getting rid of a month of history a week or so ago. This brings me to my other point, I keep up fairly well with updating both of my Firefoxes but recently (and I think this was way, way after they updated the browser so the history isn't set to expire by days anymore) the history just isn't reliable anymore. My XP will not only expire older months of history faster and faster it seems, but individual websites at the end of each month will actually disappear as I view new ones, instead of it all staying in there and just expiring each old month as a whole. Also, random sites in every month scattered all over the list of URLs will just disappear, and random sites that I've only visited in the past couple days will insert themselves randomly into much older months of history, which makes it hard to figure out the URLs I've seen, this last one seems like a common problem from what I've read, and all of these problems seem to be slowly creeping into my Windows 7 as well when they were originally on only my XP. The thing is for a very long time my Windows 7 would keep every ounce of my history that I kept on it, unless of course I went through the Clear History process myself. Now it seems to be slowly deleting it and having all the other problems that I mentioned earlier. I've got 592 GB out of 931 GB that's free space on my Windows 7 that I want to transfer my XP history into, and my Control Panel System panel says I've got 8 gbs of RAM in total. If I need to get some other information on RAM mention how to do that if you could. So in total, how can I transfer my XP history over into my Windows 7 so I can view all the sites I viewed on my XP in my Windows 7 history panel, as well as view all the old expired and/or manually deleted history on my Windows 7, without worrying about whether it will expire itself while I'm viewing it and writing down the relevant URLs that I need to know about. If I can only keep all my history through installing an add-on, a link to a relevant legal add-on that'll work well on both operating systems would be appreciated. Thanks to all here. (:
Hello Saethwyr99,
''Do I just do it by copying the places.sqlite file within that XP profile over into my USB flash drive, then replacing the places.sqlite in the Winodws 7 profile with the one from the other one?''
you are correct : [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Recovering%20important%20data%20from%20an%20old%20profile#w_your-important-data-and-their-files Your important data and their files]
''Also, random sites in every month scattered all over the list of URLs will just disappear, and random sites that I've only visited in the past couple days will insert themselves randomly into much older months of history, which makes it hard to figure out the URLs I've seen, this last one seems like a common problem from what I've read, and all of these problems seem to be slowly creeping into my Windows 7 as well when they were originally on only my XP.''
from Firefox 4 and above versions there is not a time limit for the history.
Firefox determines automatically how many pages can be kept '''without affecting the performance.'''
''as well as view all the old expired and/or manually deleted history on my Windows 7''
i think this in not possible
''If I can only keep all my history through installing an add-on, a link to a relevant legal add-on that'll work well on both operating systems would be appreciated.''
check the next add-on : [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/expire-history-by-days/ Expire history by days]

I was originally told by Verizon that if I joined, I can eventually take over the lines of various family members. Now that I've joined, and my family members all upgraded their phones and are on Edge, Verizon is telling us that we can't merge into one plan (because Edge lines can't be transferred to another account).
Is this true, and, if so, what is my recourse since I was lied to.Well, yes and no (as far as being lied to). I asked on several occasions (I have the chat transcripts to prove it) if there would be any issue if the lines were all already on Edge, and was told each time that under no circumstances would there be any issue. The latest being today (I know it's after the fact, but I wanted proof that this is what the chat people are saying). I asked "I have currently have an account with 3 phones on Edge. My brother and his wife, and my parents, also have plans all on Edge. I would like to 'take over' their lines. I want to make sure there is no issue with the Edge plan and that I can simply 'take over' their lines with no problems." I was told "Yes. That would be correct." Again, this is what I was told in the past as well (my original post didn't make clear the timing of the chats and upgrades to Edge..). Every time I chatted I mentioned that the accounts were going to be on Edge or (later on) were already on Edge. Even before my family members upgraded to Edge, not one single chat or phone representative (and my brother asked the same thing in a store) mentioned NOT to upgrade to Edge because it couldn't be transferred. Everyone just said yep, no problem. The ONLY reason I even joined Verizon (I was on Straight Talk) was because of the More Everything and Edge plans (we wanted a family plan with 6 people and over 10GB so we'd each save $25/line). Otherwise I never would have joined Verizon and my family wouldn't have upgraded either.

I need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes (it won't let me update). I have IE 8 on Windows XP, and iTunes 10 something. In my Program files list I see iTunes and iTunes (2) and even iPod and iPod (2) where a tech had to back up and do this for me before. I'm just trying to fix it all. I keep getting the "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below." I can even run a search and find the folder, but it gives me the same error message. I was planning on using the Microsoft Fix-It tool to help uninstall then Reinstall iTunes. But I need to backup my library. So, how do I copy or back up my iTunes library of over 1,500 songs? Can I copy the folder to desktop or can I use a Flash Drive to backup my music? I don't want to do anything until I know for sure how I can backup my songs, and then reinstall them into iTunes. Thanks for any help.
Ok, thanks that helps. I don't have an external hard drive though. What about backing up through 'the cloud'? I'm just wondering since my husband syncs his iPod to the PC through iTunes and he's worried that he will lose all the songs on his iPod if the library is lost from iTunes and he tries to 'sync' it up again. I'm not exactly sure how to 'copy the entire iTunes folder' either. I kinda suck at this unless I have step by step instructions, which I haven't found yet on iTunes help or other sources.
The only way I know how to back anything up is by going back to a restore point, etc. (as stated before, we don't have an external hard drive.)
Thanks for the info.
