Px4-300d copy job setup problem. Firmware version 4.1.108.32627

Hello.
I have a wierd problem with copy job setup on my px4-300d (4.1.108.32627) . I was able to set up one job, where I take a folder from my NAS and put it to a remote machine. That job ran fine.
When I go to setup a similar job but for a different folder, I have two possible outcomes:
1. When I go to chose the remote folder I see it fine and the job is setup fine as well. However when I run the job it throws an error. And in the log I see that instead of going to the folder I setup like "\\remoteserver\backupfolder" it's going to "\\remoteserver\u_myremoteserverusername\backupfolder" , which is obviously not there.
2. I can see my remote server, but I don't see my shares on it. I don't get no "Access denied" error or anything - I simply don't see any shares on that particular server. I do see shares on other servers, which use the same credentials. In addition the job that I was able to set up previously stops working.
Then when I reboot, the first job (the one setup successfully) may or may not properly run, yet I still cannot set up the second job.
I did check permissions and all the stuff that you would regularly check (connectivity, ports etc). Seems to me the script that is being generated from the UI is a bit too smart and is in fact outsmarting the NAs itself.
I also suspect that the fact that I could set up the first job and not the second is that the second job goes to a subfolder of a shared folder. Or that the shared folder's name starts with an underscore "_" . But these are just my guesses - I cannot verify this yet.
Any ideas how to fix this or how to bypass the problem?

I recommend double checking that the remote server's folders that are not being seen by the px4 are infact shared from that remote machine. If they are not, copy jobs will have problems accessing the folders.
I also recommend trying to use the remote machine's ip address for now to see if there is any change in behavior.
If the issue does not happen when using the ip address, it my be an issue with how your network's DNS is setup.

Cannot update to Firmware version 4.1.108.32627 on ix4-300d

Just bought an ix4-300d with 4-3Tb drives. I cannot update Firmware to the latest version. After uploading to the NAS, when I click 'Apply' or 'Apply all pending updates", I see a message that says "The update file is being decompressed". After several seconds, I then receive dialog box that says, "Error – The software could not be updated."
Any ideas what the issue could be? Are there any log files to look at?
Current Version: 4.1.102.29716
Upgrade to: 4.1.108.32627

Check the event log for any abnormal storage alerts such as degraded storage, recoverable errors, missing drive alerts, etc. Those sort of alerts could contribute to the firmware update issue.
Some basic steps to try for the issue:
Re-download the update file again and check the md5 checksum from the download page. If the checksum fails, try downloading from a different browser or computer and check it again.
Try uploading and applying the file using a different browser or computer.
Try re-seating all disks with the unit off, then try uploading and applying the update file again.
Try swapping disks 1 and 4 to opposite bays, then try uploading and applying the file again after booting.
LenovoEMC support should be contacted to create an incident if the above steps do not work.

Ix4-300d Copy Job credential Errors

I am trying to run several copy jobs to run from servers in a domain to my iomega unit. The unit and the server are all in the domain and work with active directory. Most of the time, these jobs work fine, but every so often the copy jobs fail, looking for all the world like they've somehow lost thier credentials. The job history says that there are no files to copy, and when I go to select the file source, it says I do not have permissions, even though I selected the file copy location with those credentials, and it had been working fine up until this point.

When you have run into this issue, have you tried to delete the copy job(s) and then recreate them?
Also just to double check, are you using a fully qualified domain username? i.e., DOMAIN\username for the user account

Strange behaviour of support procedures: ix4-300d copy jobs - ix2-200 '

I raised a support request 140130-000100 (german support site) , trying to verify that we can trust rsync copy jobs results . Daily full 1:1 copy jobs (delete,add,overwrite) to separate (per day) shares are finished within a minute, while at earlier times it took about 1 hr over a gigabit / powerline connection.
Various material including memory dumps / logs / screenshots have been added to the call and the call has been worked on. But after answering a few questions to the already escalated case, case has been closed (by itself ?) without receiving a solution.
Can someone pls. look into this issue (and possibly explain why case has been closed)?
Customer needs an answer!

Copy job problem in ix4-300d

I have an ix4-300d in my network I have comfigured copy job as directed in manual ans schedule it now everyday I am getting error " Unable to write to '/Backups' on 'local'. The Copy Job failed at 09:54 on 08/03/15." I am not able to resolve this issue.I have updated firmeware also..

The username should be "root" and the password is "sohoadminpassword". There are no spaces, just soho+admin password.
You have enabled security, created an administrator user and are logged in as that admin user? Are there any other admin users?
What is the firmware version on your device?

Copy Jobs Not Running with Firmware 4.1.102.29716

I have two ix4-300d NAS units and I use Copy Jobs to regularly transfer files oner the network. Since I upgraded both systems to the latest firmware, my Copy Jobs give error message "The Copy Job has unexpectedly stopped".
The firmware upgrade went smoothly and otherwise the units are functioning normally. I can access the remote ix4 manually but the Copy Jobs no longer run.

Tech Support had me revert to the earlier firmware, 4.0.8. Did that last night. Still getting copy job errors but they are "connection refused" rather than "copy job unexpectedly stopped". The problem is that, in reverting to the old firmware, the user information is messed up badly so the NAS is really not workable. (No data is lost if you remove the drives before updating the firmware.) I resinstalled back to v 4.1.102 and at least it's functional except for copy jobs. I have not heard back today from tech support today and I don't know if they are aware that others are having the same problem.
I may try switching from rsync to ftp for file transfer. This should work provided I can change the port from 21/22 as they are in use for other systems. It seems the rsync server has a problem in 4.1.102.

I moved house and have fibre network so 38mb/s - they all look ok on the utility, but its not till I saw the App version that they are not compatible as mac will not upgrade the version 6 ones, leaving me with 2 disjointed networks and 7 appliances, 4 of the old , 3 of the new.
my new house is expansive so i wanted the extended range and airplay in each room.
This is not told to customers, and utility doesnt show any issues.
I do not seem to get any range from either network now, - and I'm quite experienced with airport (6 yrs of setting up & using & extending)
Any advice ?

Rsync Copy Job Failure ix4-300d

I'm trying to run Copy Jobs between two new ix4-300d devices Firmware 4.0.6 I prefer to use SSL and rsync. So far I can't get it to work.
I can access the remote ix4, browse directories and upload files. When I set up a Copy Job from my local system (a) I'm not offered rsync as a protocol option in the "From" box, but I can select the directory to copy from using Windows File Sharing. In the "To" box, I select rsync and input username and password and can browse the remote ix4 shares to select the directory I want to copy to. However, when I run the Copy Job, I get the message "Access denied to the secure rsync service at <IP Address>"
I have tried disabling rsync and using only Windows File Sharing, but that configuration will not let me into the remote ix4. I have also tried disabling SSL being required on external connections and that does not work either. My sense is that rsync is actually working, but I have something set wrong.

Got it solved. I need to add the remote ix4 as a trusted device to my local ix4. Eventually figured out how to do that. Copy Jobs run fine now with rsync.
We could use better documentation.

Hopefully some smart persons here will be able to help me. First it has been awhile since i used my itune store because i didnt needed to and did a format of my computer after the last time i used it..so i had to upload my library etc and start from scratch. I downloaded a couple new games,everything was working fine..then when it came the time to sync and put these games on my ipod touch 2 gen the installation failed. I retried again and it keeps failing again and again so i choose to do a restore on it and expecting the problems would be solved. Problem wasnt not solved at all and it said an error (6) occured and i have the image on my ipod of the white cord trying to connect to itune store.
Restore doesnt work at all and it seems like my ipod is totally useless as i cant use it anymore. I did the diagnostic..it said no ipod were found. I also did the check up thing for the technician so ill paste it here maybe it will give some clues..
I have this error now as well... No iPod, iPhone, or iPad found. It also said secure link to itune store failed..not sure if these are all related to the same problems or all different at all..im clueless and need a generous soul to help me out.

@Edit : Even with my other 2gen ipod i cant install these new games,it keeps failing as well..but at leasnt i havent done Restore on it yet and i fear to do it for reason you guys can guess.

Ix4-300d can I run Rsync copy jobs accoss VPN

I want to set up a point to point VPN to an offsite location with an ix4-300d at each location then run copy jobs between the devices. By necessity these will be different subnets (172.16.16.x and 172.16.20.x) The user guide seems to indicate that the devices have to be on the same subnet. I need a definitive answer. Can I install an ix4-300d at each location and schedule copy jobs between the two?

You can't Restore to any iOS other than 7.1.
If the error persists, try on another computer. Still no joy, it is a hardware failure.

Firmware version explanation + sleep problem

My 10 days old iMac baby has problems to sleep. It goes to sleep but after 5-6 minutes it's awaken again. I tried everything I found relevant to this problem on this discussion board but no help at all. Mac baby was born with 10.4.8 and now it's at 10.4.10 - combo update, everything else is working perfectly well except this sleeping problem. I
After all, I went on Apple download in order to check if there are some EFI Firmware updates and now I'm more than confused with numbers.'
On Apple's site it's clearly written that the most recent firmware version for my iMac is "IM51.0090.B03 (20-inch late 2006)" http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imacefifirmwareupdate11.html but my System Profiler shows higher number count: "IM51.0090.B08".

Others have also found what appears to be a discrepancy in the firmware that System Profiler reports installed on their Mac versus the version reported in Apple Knowledge Base documents. The definitive document for me is Mac OS X: Firmware Updates for Intel-based Macs. This doc confirms the information that you report, so the logical explanation to me is that, although the doc was last updated by Apple on 1 MAY 2007, there has been an update to installed firmware in Macs shipping since the doc was last updated.
But the firmware shouldn't have anything to do with whether your Mac sleeps or not. Sleep is one of the things regulated by the System Management Controller. This can be reset.
But there are many other things that can interrupt the Mac auto-sleeping; external FW/USB peripheral devices, wifi, Bluetooth, etc. Have you added any such devices recently.

6270 Headst Problem on 3.81 Firmware Version!!!

Px4-300d shuts down/powers off while on UPS battery, regardless of remaining battery level

Upon line power failure, the UPS is instantly available to supply power to the px4-300d. The UPS is adequately sized to provide well over an hour of runtime during a power failure. The only way to have caching operate is to have a UPS connected. With the UPS connected, the NAS sees the UPS, the current power condition, and an accurate battery power level (%). Once the power fails, the unit begins its shutdown process and completes gracefully, even though the remaining power in the UPS battery is still near 100%. The whole point of having UPS backup is to keep the device running for as long as possible during a power failure, and then to gracefully shut-down the device should the UPS battery level reach a critical level and line-power still not restored. This is MANDATORY to be addressed in the next firmware release, or provide access to a configuration file that specifies the battery level percentage which triggers a shutdown. Why choose this "Enterprise Quality" storage solution if during a power outage it shuts itself down while everything else is still operating? Makes absolutely no sense.

What is the firmware version on your device currently?
LifeLine-based network storage devices should remain up and running normally using only UPS battery power until the UPS reports remaining battery is less than 3 minutes or below 5%. At his point, device shutdown will be triggered and your network storage device will gracefully shut down.
Have you checked to make sure it is compatible?:

If it is not shutting down properly, I would suggest contacting technical support to see if they can troubleshoot the cause of this problem.

Copy job repeatedly fails, manual initialization completes

I have a few copy jobs scheduled to run on my network; I back up several of the company's departments from the network share onto the Iomega StorCenter px6-300d. The directories specified are correct, exist, and do not have any restictions that would hinder the copy job from completing. The neccessary credentials are also verrified. It has worked accurately in the past, but over the last couple weeks it has been causing problems. The jobs do not complete, and now error out. When I look at the logs, I get a message saying that the folder did not mount, because the directory does not exist. However, when I manually click "run the copy job now", it completed just fine. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Is there any reason you can think of that the automated job isn't completed, but the manual one is? I'm baffled, I've checked to make sure the machines dont have a nightly reboot or anything, ensuring that they are online at the time of the request. Any input would be helpful

I am seeing a similar problem on ix4-300d:
- daily full copy to a separate folder on a network attached ix2
- intermittendly failing copyjobs ( apparently right at the end ), can sucessfully be restarted manually ( finishes then in 2 minutes)
- after a few weeks strange behaviour: copy jobs finish within a minute ( typically needs 2 hrs ) but no error indication. Normal operation after rebooting target and source
This problem has been reported since quite some time. Network itself has no problems, error indicatons of copy job do not lead to problem. Firmware has been updated since, both units already replaced (under warranty).
Various PCs / Laptops ( sorry I still really love Dell and Fujitsu ;-))
