PXI-2501 relay life

Hi,
I would like to know the relay life of PXI-2501.
For PXI-2503 and others, I can find the relay life (electrical and mechanical) in its specification manual, under Dynamic Characteristics. However, I cannot find the relay life for PXI-2501 under its specification manual, under Dynamic Characteristics. Could anyone tell me the relay life of PXI-2501 (for both electrical and mechanical)??
Thank you & Regards
Lee

Itok,
This is probably the wrong forum for this thread. Please post it here.

  • How to measure different signals with PXI-2501

    Hello everybody,
i have a an understanding problem.
I have a PXI-2501 switch and i want to measuere signals with the pxi-4071, so far so good.
I did some voltage- measurements and everything worked fine. Then i disconnected the power source and measured the temperature with a PT1000 in four-wire-mode ... also worked fine.
But i want to measure voltage and temperature, in the same VI, so i connected the voltage signal on CH0 and the PT1000 at CH5 (in four wire mode), and now i get problems. The temperature is fluctating. There are a few measurements that seems OK, and then i see some that are far away from the truth.
The VI consists of a state machine, the measurements are done in different states, of course with the correct scan list for each measurement.
Any suggestions? Am I doing something completely wrong?
    Thanks
(and excuse for my english )

    Hi Roman,
    id I understand you right:
The temperature measurement works fine, if the sensor is directly connected to the 4071, but if connected via the 2501 you see the big deviations?
Have you measured the the resistance of the Switch-Matrix yet?
    kind regards
    Heinz

  • How could I route 20 channals via a PXI-2501 to ch0 on a PXI-4472

I would like to use a PXI-4472 card to scan 20 signals. For this purpose I have a PXI-2501 which can be used to multiplex the 20 signals to, say, ch0 on the PXI-4472. I would like to know how can I scan each channel with a sampling freq of 1000S/s? Is it possible to synchronize the sampling and the switching?

    Ali,
It will not be possible to hardware time the two boards due to the oversampling of the 4472. There are no hardware passed signals present that would correctly align the switch with the individual sampling of the 4472. As a result, it would be necessary to do this in software...Switch, take readings from the 4472, Switch, etc.

  • PXI-2548 relay module calibration

#1)  Where would I find the date when my PXI-2548 relay module was first calibrated?
#2)  Are there different ways to calibrate the this relay module and if so what are they?
#3)  How often should this relay module be calibrated?
    Thanks,
    Julian
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Julian,
The NI PXI-2548 does not require calibration because it does not have any electronic components that can get calibrated.  Therefore, there is no calibration done, there are no ways to calibrate the module, and there is no calibration schedule.
Note that you can compensate for the insertion loss of the switch on a per path basis.  These compensations typically include the loss through cables and are performed when the board is placed in the end system.  This is more of an offset compensation for the system "switches+connectivity" rather than a board calibration; it is system dependent.  I recommend making this compensation measurement before proceeding with any automated testing.
    Hope this helps!

  • NI TB-2605 terminal board to NI PXI-2503 relay card pin GND interconnect?

I am using the NI PXI-2503 relay card and the NI TB-2605 terminal board to impliment some interconnects My question is on the terminal board there is a GND terminal listed on pin GND. What electrical pins or internal backplane or relay card terminal does this "point" interconnect to?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Figuring this internet stuff out is not for the feignt of heart....!
First....thank you for your initial effort.
I am a test equipment engineer.
As you probably know, I am confused with the threads through the documentation. I am looking at the figures provided on the TB-2605 Isothermal Terminal Block Installation Guide,  Figures 1, 2 and 3. I am also looking at the NI PXI-2503 Specification pdf figure 1.
There is no mention of a GND connection connected to the Relay card Figure 1. This GND may go into the PXI chassis backplane and mate to the power cord neutral line or some other connect like that, but I cannot tell.
I would like to peice together a guide to my manufacturing people as well as to my software people how this thing works using software to select 1 x 48, 2 x 24, and dual 2 x 12 switching modes when I specify the use of this fine equipment for solving our test needs.
I beleive that I am close, but a very few questions remain.
Thank you for you excellent approach to "looking" into the answer for my question. Any additional insite to GND paths is appreciated.

  • Controlling PXI-2501 Switches in C#

What is the best - prefered - way to control a PXI-2501/2503 Switch Matrix in C#.
I have only been able to find examples showing SCXI switching units. Is it done in the same way?
    Code examples would be nice.
    Thanks

I am assuming that the examples you are using are the DAQmx C# examples (Program Files\National Instruments\MeasurementStudio70\DotNET\Examples\DAQmx\Switches).
These examples work for all SCXI and PXI switches that are supported in DAQmx. NI-DAQ 7.1, the currently released version of NI-DAQ driver software, does not support PXI-2501/2503 under DAQmx. These modules will be supported in DAQmx in the next version of the driver.

  • Where i can find exemples for PXI-2564 relay module

    hello,
I'm beginner in PXI module using.
I bought a PXI solution for use it as a custom instrument.
My aim is to read RTDs and command some line using relays.
So i take the system below:
    NI PXIe 1071
        PXI-8100
        PXIe-4357
        PXI-2564
I can see all the material on NI MAX.
In MAX, i can read RTD a channel value and can operate relays.
i have read and practice exercice on "Getting started with Labview RT module" and all it works,But i don't find any resources or exemple to deal with relay card or read RTD.
I have try to access it using "visa connect" and this step works, but what must i do to go further.
In a first time i want to swap relay position, by reading position, invert value ,set position and return the value.
And for RDT i'll want to make a simple measure and make a average a N measure for 1 or all input.
Can you give me some exemple or trick?
    Best regards

    Hello,
What software do you use? what version?
Have you look into the LabVIEW Example Research with KeyWord "Relay". There are examples with NI-DAQmx and niSwitch drivers.

  • Is there any DDK, RLP or examples programming Relay cards PXI-2567?

I am trying to write a Device Driver for PXI-2568 Relay card. I can not find any Device Driver Kit (DDK) or Register level Programming (RLP) information. I program in Visual studio C++ using RTX. I have diver for M and E series ADC cards as well as DIO cards, but can not find any help for the relay cards. Where can I find any examples or other info?
    Thanks,
    Tony

    Hi Tony,
I have RLP information on the PXI-2568, but the information is limited and may not give you all the desired functionality that you're looking for.  If possible, can you provide me an email address to contact you personally?  Because the information is somewhat limited, additional support may be required, so I would rather not make the RLP manual public.  Also, I would like to discuss the caveats to the existing RLP manual and verify the information I have will make you successful.  Please note the email address you provide will be public information (at least initially), so you may not want to use your primary email address.
Another option is requesting support through phone or email via http://www.ni.com/support/, however phone and email requests require a valid service contract.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Problem reading PXI-2503 channels above 23 in 1-Wire 48x1 Mux mode in Linux

I'm having trouble getting relay positions above 23 in the 1-wire 48x1 mode
    % nilsdev | grep 2503
    NI PXI-2503: "Dev1"
The topology is set to "2503/1-Wire 48x1 Mux" via the following API, using device "Dev1"
      DAQmxSwitchSetTopologyAndReset(device,topology)
In theory that means there are 48 inidividual relays than can be read, however, the following fails:
     switchname = "/Dev1/ch47"
     DAQmxSwitchGetSingleRelayPos(switchName, &pos)
    The error returned is:
DAQmx Error: Relay name is invalid.
    Relay Name: ch47
    Status Code: -200202
    which is
        #define DAQmxErrorInvalidRelayName   (-200202)
I am unable to get the relay position for anything above relay 23  ( /Dev1/ch23 )
Is that the expected behaviour, or is there a driver or hardware issue ?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When using this switch in "1-wire" mode, we are essentially breaking each (+)/(-) pair into their own channels.  Since this topology utilizes double pole, single throw switches whose individual terminals cannot be switched independently, another switch is introduced to decide which side of the switch is being accessed as what point in time, (+) or (-).
Instead of having 48 single pole single throw, we can have 24 double pole single throw and one single pole double throw to decide which polarity we're referencing.  You can still utilize this topology in a 48x1 1-wire mode.
To manually switch using DAQmx relay commands, you will have to specify the channel switch and the polarity switch as Maggie mentioned.  When you call "DAQmxSwitchConnect /Dev1/ch47 /Dev1/com0", the driver knows to close the ch 24 relay in addition to "HLSELECT" AND "1WIRE" to route only the positive terminal (effectively ch.47).
The NI Switches Help document contains a more detailed explanation of the topology if you navigate to Devices >> NI PXI-2501/2503 >>
    1-Wire 48×1 Multiplexer Topology.

  • Why are my PXI cards not recognized by Windows or MAX?

I have a PXI-1045 chassis connected to a PC through MXI-4.  When I turn the chassis and PC on with a PXI card in slot 2, the message "Windows could not load the installer for DAQDevice.  Contact your hardware vendor for assistance." appears, and the PXI card is not recognized (it is scene by Windows as an unidentifiable PCI Devices, though I have a DAQmx installed).
    More details:
    Windows XP
    LabVIEW 8.0 installed
    TestStand 4.0 installed
    Latest DAQmx 8.XX installed
    NI Scope installed
    NI CAN installed
MXI-4 PCI card installed in PC and recognized by Windows (as PCI-PCI bridge, and MXI-4 Device)
I identified PXI chassis 1045 in MAX and on subsequent boot up saw that MAX complained about pxisys or some other ini file (in the chassis status area of the screen) so I configured it as 'other' then put in the PXI-resorce CD and selected the ini file for PXI-1045, MAX no longer complains about pxisys and instead says the chassis is configured properly
If I have nothing but the PXI MXI-4 card installed in the PXI system and boot up the chassis then the PC, I get no errors
If I have a card in slot two (I've tried PXI-6509 Industrial Digital IO, PXI-2569 Relay Module, and PXI-5102 Digital Oscilliscope) and boot the chassis then PC, the message "Windows could not load the installer for DAQDevice.  Contact your hardware vendor for assistance." shows up when Windows boots and Windows sees a PCI Device but can't identify any drivers for it.

    Hello,
Can you post a screenshot of the problem? Are you switching on the chassis first or the PC? Please make sure that you switch ON chassis and then boot the PC. This typically happens when you have a corrupted installation.  I would suggest downloading the latest version of driver from here and re-installing it.
Please uninstall all the driver software from computer before installing the new software.

  • What is the pin out for your PXI-2503?

    Hello,
I have purchased a PXI-2503 analog switch, and I have been unable to find the pinouts for this device anywhere. I have connecting directly from the PXI-2503 into my board.

    Hi Champ065,
If you have the NI-Switch drivers installed, then you can go to the NI-Switches Help.  This can be found by clicking Start >> Programs >> National Instruments >> NI-SWITCH >> Documentation >> NI-Switches Help.  When you open this up, navigate to NI Switches Help >> Devices >> NI PXI-2501/2503.  From there, select your topology and you can see the pinouts on the right.
Please let me know if you have any problems finding this.
    Thank You,

  • PXI-2570 switch capacitance

I am generating a 5V peak, 400 kHz signal from an ARB (NI 5401) and inputting it into an amplfier with a gain of about 2, current draw around 400mA and an input voltage of 13V. I am taking the output of that amplifier and going straight into the PXI-2570 relay switches. From NO-1 and NO-2 I run the cable directly to DUT and get a ~2.5V peak-peak signal in which i should be getting a 10V peak-peak signal. If I take the output of the amplifier and without putting it through the relays I run it directly to the DUT i get the 10V peak-peak.
My Question is why when i generate the 5V peak, 400 kHz signal and run it through the PXI-2570 and attach to the DUT do I see the large decrease in peak to peak voltage? Is there some internal capacitance of the relays that would be causing such a drop? The spec for PXI-2570 seems to be able to handle a 400 kHz signal?

    Murphyky,
There’s one more test I’d like you to do with your setup.  Connect the signal from your amplifier, through the switch (modeled as 1 Ohm resistors), and then to a large load (not connected to your DUT).  If the signal shows up without attenuation, then we can confirm that the switch itself is working correctly.
Switches have a resistance listed in the specifications manual.    It is small, but it should still be considered in your design.  You’ve basically built a voltage divider with your circuit.
A colleague of mine simulated your DUT in our Multisim circuit design software to see if we could determine the exact source of the signal attenuation in your DUT.  What sort of load are the two transformers driving?  We found that we could get a wide range of voltages across the DUT just by altering the load attached to the transformers.  See the images I’ve attached for reference:
With the transformers driving 2 Megaohm loads:
With one load reduced to 100 Ohms:
Do you know the specifications of the amplifier that you're using?  Is it possible that it can't source the power required to drive the DUT.
Let me know how the test with the switch goes.  If it passes, there is some other limitation in the circuit that is causing the signal attenuation.
    Good luck with everything.

  • How could I control PXI-2567 from my C/C++ program?

I need to control the PXI-2567 relay driver from inside my C/C++ programs.
How could I do this, is there a dl, com, or something?
Please tell me if there are any integration documents or user manuals for using whichever method if any.

    Hi BSA,
You'll want to utilize the NI Switch Driver, which will install both example programs and the NI Switches Help.   There is a Function Reference Section in the NI Switches Help (which is installed with the NI Switch driver, and as well can be found on our website).  Example programs will be installed on your computer under Start»All Programs»National Instruments»NI-SWITCH»Examples»C .  You can also program your switch with2567 with DAQmx.  The differences between the two drivers can be found in this KB.  As well, additional resources for your switch are discussed here.

  • PXI-2564 RLP

I'm trying to find RLP information for the PXI-2564 and PXI-2570 relay cards, can someone point me in the right direction?
I'm trying to run in RedHat 6 64-bit.
    Thanks

    Johnbull,
The short answers is yes, but due to its ability to potentially damage the hardware if used incorrectly we generally try to keep this as internal as possible.
Normally we would suggest you to attempt to use Linux NI-DAQmx 8.0.2 to program your device [as both the 2564 and 2570 are supported]. There may be some changes you might need to make in the installer as this is designed for Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 4 but this has been done by many others in the past.
That being said if this does not work for you, and you NEED Register Level Programming, it would be best to call in to NI Support (1-866-ASK-MYNI) as we have some options* for you.
*These options are officially unsupported by R&D, and can not be published externally [hence the need to call in for support].
