PXI-4462 - Radio Sound Environment

Hi, everyone.
I have a PXI-4462 audio card.
Is it possible to use the card to analyze and measure the Sound Environment Settings (eg, Jazz, Rock, Classical, and etc) of a radio audio outputs?
20Hz and 20kHz is the range of the interest frequency for plotting a graph of Gain (dBr) vs freq.
As I know, I may need to sweep the freq range of 20Hz to 20kHz for obtaining the curve.
Hope someone can help to advise.

Can you share the image of the noise signal if you have?
One possible cause i can think of is the High frequency noise source nearby. Have you analyzed the Noise characteristic? You can perform simple FFT to identify the noise source by switching ON and OFF of the nearby lights or machines etc...
One more way is to move the measurement setup out of the current location.
I guess there shall be a better way of identifying the Microphone connectivity rather than comparing the floating signal RMS with the sound pressure threshold level for identification.

There have been issues reported with the 13.0.0.182 version of the Flash plugin crashing on some older Mac computers due to the compiler generating incompatible code.
The way to recover is to uninstall the Flash 13 version and revert to an older Flash version and wait for Adobe to release an update that addresses this issue.

PXI-4496 vs PXI-4462 resolution

Is it possible that for a same voltange range, the PXI-4462 card has a lower resolution that the PXI-4496, even if they are both 24-bit?

Both cards are 24-bits.
Using the PXI-4496, on a +/-1 Volt range, the 24 bits seems to be dictributed over à 2.2 V range (-1.1 to +1.1).
Using the PXI-4462, on the equivalent +/-1 Volt range, the 24 bits seems to be distributes over a 3.8 V range (-1.9 to +1.9).
By resolution, I mean the smalles voltage increment we can measure, i.e. Q= (Vrangemax-Vrangemin)/(2^24).

PXI-4462 problem...

I have PXI-1036 DC with 8101RT+6653+6682+4462.
It seems thereis a problem with PXI-4462 driver:
I format disk and install fresh system software (step by step). When I install DAQmx 9.7 with DSA, after reboot I see message after "Welcome to LabVIEW Real-Time 12.0f4" :
ing the driver might fix the issue. Ohterwise, contact National Instruments technical support."
PXI-4462 appears in MAX with some duplicated device (Dup.jpg). When I call Test Panel, I see error (see TestPanel_Error). After "Yes" and press "Start" I see error as on TestPanel_Opened.jpg.
What's happened?

Hi Jury,
Have you tried to Reset the device in MAX? I assume you've already tried rebooting the system, right? What about moving the device to a different PXI slot? Or even a different PXI system, if available?
If none of those steps work, try deleting the device from the Windows Device Manager, and allow the operating system to redetect it and install a fresh version of device drivers.
See this article, for reference. If none of these steps yield any change in behavior, it may be necessary to send the hardware in for repair.

Why does my new garageband 10.0.03 not have the legacy with sound effects or radio sound preset or applause preset???? I need these to be able to chop samples into the keyboard keys by dragging and dropping them into the keys.

I am just trying to chop samples and drop them into a track with legacy-sound effects- radio sounds, so that I can play with them and chop them onto keys. I see a bunch of videos on youtube showing you how to do it, but I can't find those kits on the newest garageband.

All these effects are part of the loops in the iLife Sound effects loop package, that was a part of the application bundle iLIfe '11 (iPhoto. iMovie, GarageBand '11). These loops are neither installed by GarageBand 10.0 or GarageBand '11, nor MacOs X, you need an iLife '11 installer disk to get these loops.
And GarageBand 10 also does not have the Sound Effects instruments any longer, that let you drag samples onto keys. It is one of the sorely missed features, that have been discontinued in the new version GarageBand 10. even if you install the previous version, GarageBAnd '11, to add the Sound effects instrument to GarageBand 10. it will not work properly, because GarageBand 10 will not save the custom instrument with the samples. You will have to complete your song in one session, without quitting GarageBand.

Radio sound is mono

Hello there!
I'm using the LG D300 and when I use the FM Radio, the sound is mono... Asked LG for support, but they said that it is related to OS...
I tried several different headphones, all with the same results...
Is Stereo FM Radio an unsurpported feature by now?

After reading the information provided about your issue I suggest a soft reset of the phone.
#Take the back cover of the phone off.
#Take the battery out.
#Take the SIM card and microSD card out (if applicable).
#Wait 10 seconds.
#Put the SIM card and microSD card back in (if applicable).
#Put the battery back in.
#Put the back cover back on.
#Turn the device on.
#Check if the issue you were having is still present.

Radio sound effects

Can anyone give me a quick link on sound effects for making voices sound like they are coming out of a radio. I'm doing some VO and using a Blue Snowball external mic and I can get the right sound. I'm fiddling around with the 3 Band Equalizer audio filter, but it just aint right.
Suggestions anyone?

Scroll almost to the bottom. The section you want actually deals with making a "telephone voice" effect, but once you get the idea, it should be possible to tweak the sound to your liking.

Smooth radio sound not correct

Anyone else have this the sound on smooth radio stuttering, the sound is fine on all other channels.

FM radio sound stopping intermittently.

Hi I have an Xperia Z1 and the FM radio has started to stop working. There is no pattern, it could work for minutes or seconds and then the sound just stops. Looking at the screen it looks normal and the only way to get the sound back is either switch to Mono or tunr the radio off and on again. This extremely annoying especially as I use the FM app loads. I tried a software reset before and no joy. Any ideas please ?

I’m using Nokia Internet radio, but sound quality is very poor /yes i have selected "high quality"/, it sounds like music is playing from bath, can Nokia team check this issue? My phone is N8.

Is it possible:
1. Set gain for particular channel using DAQmx Channel -> AI.Gain properties instead max/min voltage?
2. Set DC offset for particular channel using DAQmx Channel -> AI.DCOffset properties? What units of this offset?
3. What properties control LP analog filter? Or this filter always ON? May be this filter controlled by writing F/T to the AI.Lowpass.Enable properties?

Yes. This article should be helpful.
DSA modules like the 4462 will remove a DC offset automatically when AC coupling is selected. You'll select AI.Coupling as the property to write in your DAQmx Channel property node. You will not be able to enter a value for the offset. Related info, here.
The anti-aliasing filters on DSA devices are not configurable through a property node. They automatically adjust with sampling rate to follow the Nyquist frequency. The AI.Lowpass.Enable is not a property supported by these modules.

Well, I suppose you could do it with bus sends, but for "all or nothing" FX stuff like this, I usually opt for the completely unbureaucratic method:
New track with that channel setting, snip and copy/move the audio material to the second track for the passages where you need the effect.
If you need certain settings from the original track (like comp or whatever), you can just Cmd-click them in the mixer to drag them, and then switch to holding down the Option key to copy the plug-in w/ setting to the second channel.

Radio sound not coming through - Nokia 6120

It could be that your recording is in MPEG-2 format, which seems to be common among hard drive camcorders, and you require the MPEG-2 codec (available from the Apple Store).

PXI-4462 actual sample rate and delay...

Is the DAQmx properties, which give me actual sample rate and filter delay? Or I must manualy calculate this values, as described in DSA manual?

Hi Jury,
I am not sure if I fully understand your question, but there are DAQmx properties that do return the actual sample rate, but there is not one for filter delay. If you place a DAQmx Timing property node down, the actual sample rate will be returned by selecting Sample Clock » Rate.

Just got Apple tv and my radio sound does not work. HOw do I get it to work?

Could you explain a little more what you are trying to do. Are you trying to play an inbuilt iTunes radio station or one of your own. You cannot add your own radio stations.
