PXI 8156B Battery Failure and restore harddrive.

Hi,
I am working on restoring a very old system built using PXI8156B, attached are the snaps.
The system has damaged OS. I want to restore by ghost image which was captured just before final system was ready for operation.
The CPU module has battery failure which cause "Loading defaults" thereby booting from C. I tried making boot sequence "A,C" but was no success.
I would like to know how do I restore the battery..? There doesn't seem removable battery.
How can I restore the ghost image if battery solution fails..?
Kindly advice.
Thanks and regards,
Kunal

I would like to erase a partition that I have on my 30gb internal harddrive.
Do you have more than one partition on the HDD? I suspect you have only one since the HDD is only 30 GB.
Your computer is now 8 years old, as is the original HDD. The average life of these drives is 3 to 5 years, so your HDD is well past old age. You may be getting the error messages because your drive is failing.

  • Battery Failure and Kernel Panics. Help!

    Hi all,
Thanks in advance for your help.
About a week ago, after I had left my computer alone for two days, it randomly shut off when the meter up top said it had 40 minutes. Then, when it was closed in sleep mode and I opened it, it told me it had to be restarted--which I, through reading the forum, found out is a kernel panic. Since then it has not given me any more kernel panics, however, it consistently turns off at about the forty minute mark. This is what I have done so far:
attempted to recalibrate the battery, which hasn't worked/I don't know if it really can because it doesn't get below 20% without shutting off. (btw, when I turn it back on, with the plug in, the battery is not dead, it's at around 20%).
have done the first three steps in the x guide to kernel panics.
Does this sound like a battery problem, and if so how do I solve that?
or does it sound like a kernel panic, hardware problem?
Thank you so much for any help, I desperately want to fix my computer.
    Besos.

    Hi alby23,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
If your computer is two years old, it's in need of a new battery. If you open System Profiler (Apple menu>About This Mac>More Info) the battery's capacity and charge cycles will be listed. If the Capacity is ~2000 you have less than 50% of a new battery's which is 4400mAh.
You may be able to solve part of the problem by resetting the PMU. That may get the time/percentage back to a more accurate number. If that doesn't help, get a new battery.

  • IPod touch 5th generation battery drained and restored after app is closed

I got my iPod Touch 5th generation about a year ago. I noticed it has since had an issue on the battery life that I thought was common so I did not do anything about it.
The issue my iPod has is that whenever I use an app that requires immense energy to function, the battery drains real quick. But after I closed the app, the battery life fills up again like it has only used a little.  Video recording especially drains the battery the most where after 10 minutes of recording, it pops up saying 20% battery left from fully charged and at one point it even shuts down itself. But when it was turned on, the battery life is still around 75%. Before it runs on iOS 8, the issue is more apparent although it still exist now with the latest update.
I did not know until just recently that I found out it is a big issue where I could not have a video recording that can last longer than 10 minutes or so. Is there anything I could do to solve this? Are there anyone else out there that has this sort of issue?

    Hey Leowjowee-
I'm really sorry if I'm about to state the obvious, but have you tried fully resetting the iPod touch and setting it up like it's brand new?
It's a crappy answer, but sometimes these are device specific issues, and other times, it can happen just because the kinks haven't been worked out of a new upgrade. I work in consumer IT, and the first thing I would suggest to a client with this issue (especially after an upgrade from one version of the operating system to another), would be to restore (reset the iPod to factory specs) the iPod touch, set it up like the day I bought it, only with the upgraded operating system, and see if there's still an issue. Sometimes, doing an upgrade like you probably did to get from iOS 7 to iOS 8, where it keeps all your previous settings from the last operating system, can cause bugs in the new code.
    Here's instructions for a reset: http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201252
Keep in mind that this will completely erase any content you have on the iPod touch, so be careful to make sure you have a backup of the device before you do anything. You can back up your device to iCloud or your computer with these instructions:  http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203977
iOS 8 is brand new, and I'm sure Apple is working out the bugs - but these things happen...

  • T500 Battery Failure and Replacement Options

The battery on my T500 recently "failed due to normal wear" and will no longer hold any charge. It had over 1000 cycles in a little under two years of use, so I guess that's not to be unexpected. The failure happened suddenly though (went from 2 hrs of normal life to no charge overnight). I tried reseting the battery through power manager to no avail, so I'm looking for a replacement now.
I'm currently looking at a couple of options and wondering if anyone has experience with any of these:
Stock Lenovo (I assume it would be the most reliable, but also most expensive at $179)  http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?...
C&K on Amazon (Claims to be genuine; $136) http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPad-40Y6797-Thinkpad-Standard/dp/B001TQ6VQ6/ref=sr_1_35?ie=UTF8&m=...
eComElectronics (Claims to be genuine, although some older reviews say it's non-OEM; $97) http://www.amazon.com/ThinkPad-SL-Cell-Li-Ion-Battery/dp/B000CBG0XI/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
Assortment of non-OEM batteries on Amazon ($25-$60) http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_26?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=lenovo+t50...
Do #2 and #3 seem fine?  Even though they aren't sold through Lenovo, would they still be eligible for the 1 year warranty?
What about the non-OEM's? Are the price savings not worth the hassle of getting a lemon and the compatibility warnings from the power manager?
    Thanks

if they are an official resellers then you can claim warranty from Lenovo, otherwise you would have to get the warranty through the retailers themselves.
Non-OEM quality can vary, since there are so many of them, it is hard to give you any sort of advice as to what you would expect.
But you could try the 6 cells Boston Power Battery, they have 3 years warranty, and priced competitively. They are the only non-OEM battery i would buy.

    Jin Li

  • Battery failure and loss of connectivity

I have an older iBookG4 10.5.8, currently running Safari 5.0.1. The battery is getting old, will not run for more than 30 minutes so I leave plugged in. I have two questions:
    1. Does clock function fail if battery power get too low, if so does this cause other failures?
    2. Why is my Safari always losing internet connectivity (Wireless). The router is new (today), I replaced my old Airport (today) and I continue to get meaasges "You are not connected to the internet" I then must trouble shoot and re-try. I usually can get back on line but it is getting old always having to trouble shoot connectivity.
    Thanks

I have a 1.2 GHz G4 iBook running 10.5.8. I was having similar problems running on battery. I managed to source a replacement battery from Hong Kong. I now get more time running on the battery but it is still unsatisfactory as battery drain seems to accelerate and the computer shuts down.
I have had similar problems with Airport connectivity which is inconvenient to say the least.
My iBook is probably six years old and is probably due for retirement.

  • Another update failure and restore

An observation after another updater failure.
Do NOT update on a shared USB port. I have a USB dongle to let  several USB devices be on one port. This is not normally not t a problem with syncing, but this will not work with iPad OS update.
Plug iPad directly into a USB port or it will probably fail. This is probably the same reason you can't plug into a keyboard USB port as not enough power to run the operation.

Apple recommends the same when syncing as well.

I have had Adobe XI for about two years and My harddrive just crashed. My backups were part of the failure so I can't get it back. I purchased it from a third part supplier and it was a download. I need to find out how to get it restored. I can send screen shots of all of the drive location where the drive is still good and I can see my Adobe Acrobat pro information, but the download itself is missing. NEXT STEP?

If you are talking about Reader (you did post in the Reader forum), then just download http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise. However Reader is free not purchasable. You can download a trial then install using your serial number, which if you didn’t register or write down somewhere you will be out of luck to track down.

  • Trying to restore my Mac OS  after a hard drive failure and my password is no longer recognized, however I can log in by double clicking on the Lion Icon? How can I reset my password

I am trying to restore my Mac OS after a hard drive failure and my password is no longer recognized, however I can log in by double clicking on the Lion Icon? How can I reset my password

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
Another reason why your password might not be recognized is that the keyboard layout (input source) has been switched without your realizing it. At the login screen, you can cycle through the available layouts by pressing the key combinationcommand-space or command-option-space. See this support article.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • My 16b 3gs was working perfectly.  The battery died and I plugged it in correctly to charge and it also neohook up to itunes for restore.  It also had a little exclamation button that reads: IMEI:unknown and just below it read ICCID: Unknown. Nothing else

My 16gig ipone 3gs was working perfectly since it was replaced only a month or to prior.  I was visiting with some friends around the ole pipe and low and behold the phone was completly dried of it's go juice.  One we noticed I reached into the kitchen and plugged it in to the outlet.,,,  The battery died and I plugged it in correctly to charge and it also said Emergency calls only in various foriegn languages. It also said to plug it into your itunes. All the while haviing no calling options to say the least.  I followed the apple instructions perfectly when it said that there was a new version of itunes I should download first, prior to refreshing it.  It went through all of the installing and so on then at the end you still get a useless phone that doesnt work.  IMEI: unknown and ICCIC; unknown (both of which can be found by you on the box or on the sim card case.  I  completley removed the sim card and it worked in my hubbies 3g.   I tried several times and also AT&t had made sure the imei and iccic where correct.  So I spent hours getting nowhere with this.  Its new and nice and broken.. Im going to leave that Apple store with a brand new iphone 4 tomorrow.  Simply b/c it is for my pain and suffering and for giving me a crappy refurbished phone.  Fair is fair.  So if you've found a way to fix great, but Im going to get that free iphone 4  xoxo  toodllloooo

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

  • Wi-fi failure and battery problems started at the same time

I can't get the wi-fi to connect to any network. It stopped working a couple of days ago. I have tried with my own wireless network at home and several other networks as well.
    I have tried the following:
    *Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings
    *Restore to Factory Settings
*Tried my network without security and with WPA (and yes I know the password)
*With and without MAC-address filter in Router, added the iPods MAC-address (called Wi-Fi Address in the iPod)
*Changed channel for my Wi-fi network
*Tried with and without my wi-fi repeater
*My router is broadcasting the SSID
*Tried to join the network when it is found by the iPod, with 1 as strenght but then I get "Could not join the network"
*Tried to add the network as other network, typing in the SSID the it says that it can't find the network.
I have tried a mix of the above and as I stated above I have also tried other networks that it has been able to join without problems before.
    Some info:
iPod Touch 16 GB Model MA627ZG
    Version 2.2.1 (5H11)
    Purchased in December 2007.
    Router: Netgear DG834GT
    Firmware: V1.02.04
    Wireless Repeater D-link DWL-G710
At the same time as this started my battery started to get drained very quickly. 2 hours of listening to an audio book and the battery is empty again.
    I have wi-fi off
    Auto brightness off
    Fetch new data off
    EQ off
The iPod gets very hot when attached to my computer via USB to get battery charged and I don't have it in a case.

I am having excatly same problem. It started about two days ago, but I did not update or installed anything just before this issue came up. It looks like it came from nowhere.
It feels like the touch is constantly trying to connect to wifi, even if it is sleeping and even if the wifi is off! That would explain the very short battery life.
I have tried to update to 2.2.1. It did not help. I have tried to restore both to 2.2 (which was on when this issue came up) and both to 2.2.1.
I tried to revert to older firmware 7.3.2 on my airport express. But it it did not seem to make any difference. My macbook is still seeing the wifi as well as before, so it should not be a router problem.
as well, to comment on ipod being connected to turned off/hibernated computer. it does not make any difference whether it is connected to it or not. Computer does not suck the energy from the ipod. It can only charge it. So whether it is connected or not, the ipod should discharge slowly, which it does not in our case.

  • My IPad1 has completely shut down. It has no power. I have tried a restart and a reset with no results. I have tried charging through the keyboard dock, the wall charger and my Macbook Pro with no results. Is this a complete battery failure?

My IPad 1 has lost complete power. I have attempted a restart and a reset without results. I have attempted to charge with the keyboard dock, the wall charger and connecting to my MacBook Pro. Again no results just a black screen. Is this a battery failure? I am in Mexico for another 6 weeks and hoping to find a solution.

    Cathi-
How long did you have the iPad connected to the wall charger?  A completely dead iPad battery may not work until it has been charged for some time - maybe a half hour or more.  I suggest leaving it on charge overnight, and then trying the reset.
The MacBook may be able to charge the iPad if it doesn't go to sleep, but it will be extremely slow.  the Wall charger is definitely the best way.

  • Ios 7.0.4 battery issue and DFU mode restore

Hi guys. My iphone has an issue with its battery since i updated my iphone from ios 6.0.2 to 7.0.1 until now ios 7.0.4. I have tried many things, like turn off parallax, background app refresh, location service, mail to fetch, air drop, bluetooth, celular data, delete icloud back up from iphone, delete email acount, reset all setting, restore from back up, restore and set it as new phone, but all thoose things didn't help. Now I loose 1% for 3 minutes. Before thoose update i loose 1% about 6 minutes.
But i have been oberseving so far to know what is causing this issue. This morning i did the DFU mode restore, exatcly not recovery mode restore. After DFU restore completed, i watched every each percent of my battery begun increases to 4,30 minutes while using internet via safari. After that i restored again from my itunes backup, and the battery back to 1 % / 3 minutes while using safari with the same setting. This is first time my battery increases, and my first time i used the dfu mode restore. So far i always using itunes restore.
I guess there are something make the battery drained. I think that icloud data and email account causes this issue. But when i try delete manually my two email accounts and icloud data backup. My battery still 1% / 3 minutes.
So, are you guys have some experiences? Any ideas?
    Thanks before, regards from Indonesia

I'am sorry. I'am using ios 7.0.4 now. I forget to set it before i send that post
