PXI Controller will not boot when 6071E is in chassis. (new problem).

My PXI contoller stopped upon an acquisition error, and then would not reboot until I removed the 6071E card from the chassis. When I put the 6071E back in the chassis the controller again fails to boot.

I agree.  It sounds initially as though it is a faulty card.  I would try the card in a different slot and if possible, try a different card.  If niether of these solves the issue, then I would call in and RMA the card.

acording to INTEL the cpu is X64 bit, but the bios will not let a X64 boot up only a x32 bit ?
and i get a message on black screen  "you are trying to load an opperating system not compatable" or some thing like that
it would seem that the bios is the problem and not the CPU ? the 08 bios update only covers x32 bit and not x64

i see that you work for HP ? do you have any suggestion's for my problem ?
as i mentioned before the notebook works faultlessly when X64 windows 7 is installed via the OEM disk in the external DVD drive , but if i disconnect the DVD drive it will not boot, but gets stuck in boot loop , then if i connect the drive with any windows installation disc loaded in it , it loads perfect and works perfect even if i disconnect when loaded  , but i can not keep the drive connected ?
i have tried to use a USB flash drive to install X64 windows 7 but it comes back that the present CPU is not compatible ??
when it clearly states on Intel web site that it is and it works perfect when loaded ?? even the Windows update manager confirms that it will run all X64 windows OS
i understand the the bios "InsydeH20" is a very difficult bios to work with, and that Insyde have blocked the "hidden menu" via software ? i have exhausted all the software functions to open the complete bios that i can find at the moment  ,  i think it is locked out from out side the bios and not from inside.?
any  pointers in the right direction would be very helpful  ,

  • W520 will not boot when docked; blue screen

W520 fails to boot 100% of the time when docked. Blue screen shows SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, STOP x0000003B for nvlddmkm.sys
nvlddmkm.sys is the NVIDIA driver, which is version 8.17.12.9620, the latest shown on the NVIDIA and Lenovo websites. BIOS is also the latest.
Systems boots fine if I remove it from the dock, but it will not boot when docked.
    Windows 7 PRO SP1
    2 external monitors via DVI
    Any suggestions?

Boot with Option held down. After the cursor changes to an arrow, Command-. (Command Period) should open and close the optical drive. After you insert the disc, click the curved arrow to have it re-scan the discs for boot volumes. Then select the optical drive and click the straight right-pointing arrow to start.
Try it with the Apple Hardware Test disc first and run Extended Tests.

MacBook Pro will not boot up.  Hardware test found no problems.

Sorry. What I mean is I selected the SL boot up in the start up panel and it would not boot into the cd. The CD rom sounds like it just keeps reading with it slowly loading from grey screen to blue screen to the Block screen. Almost like it is booting into normal mode from the hard drive.
What I can't understand is why it runs fine is Safe mode?
Also why do I get a " this disk cannot be used to start up your computer" message on my hard drive when trying to install Lion in safe mode? Well why not it's the only hard drive in the computer?
The first screen shot is the Tech tool showing everything passed the hardware test is safe mode.

  • Windows 8 and Canvio Desk 3TB: System will not boot when external hdd is connected

    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-e-g/HP-PAVILION-A6109N-amp-windows-8-System-w...
    Hi,
just recently upgraded to Win Pro on my HP PAVILION A6109N.  I also bought a toshiba canvio desk 3TB.  What I notice is that if I reboot my pc with the extermnal HDD connected, my system will not boot.
I have check my BIOS boot settings and the order of the boot.
I have tried disabling USB Legacy Support in the BIOS
I have reformatted the external HDD
but still my desktop will not boot if the external HDD is connected....If I disconnect the external HDD...the system will boot up ....
I am at a loss....*** scratching my head ***

Update:  The only solution for me was to format the drive as ext3 and plug it into one of my Asus RT-N66U USB ports, as most routers don’t yet recognize 3TB drives as NTFS.  It’s not much help to people who don’t have a router with this capability, and it also slows transfer rates to ~12MB/s.
Given the short length of the cable, your only other options are to have the 3TB Canvio sitting right next to you so you can unplug from a front USB port before each boot, or place it towards the rear of your desk and crawl under the desk to disconnect it from your PC prior to each boot.
It's a pity because Toshiba produce great internal HDD's, but my experience when it comes to external drives is they're simply junk.  I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing.

Turn off your pc, remove the jumper near the battary for 5 seconds, then put the jumper back.
If it works go to BIOS and switch off (disable) Audio on Board or Sound on Board , (if you have it), then start your pc. Should work !!!
    I hope it helps!!!

  • Mac OSX will not boot, when I log in, it shuts down after grey screen and grey loading bar show up: PLEASE HELP (:

So here is a lowdown on my problem.
I start my mac OSX, I hold down the alt/option key and load my MAC osx drive (which is the only drive available; however, when i do not hold down the alt/option key it will go to a black screen that says "no bootable device, press a key when device inserted").  Continuing, it then goes to my login screen where I have my username, and I can enter my password like usual.  I enter my password, hit the enter button (like I always do), and this is where my problem begins.
After I enter my login and hit enter, the screen goes grey, with a little apple symbol in the middle and a different shade of grey loading bar underneath.  This grey loading bar shows up for about 10 seconds, fills up about 10-20 percent, and then shuts my computer down.
No matter what I do, this process repeats over and over, and heres where the problem gets worse, and this part is VERY IMPORTANT and is the most depressing, stressful part of the process.
NONE of the startup/boot commands work except holding the alt/option key.  I can't hold: Command plus r; command pr  to reset PRAM; shift to enter safe mode.
I really dont know what to do here :/.  I have files that I want on the hard drive, that are pretty important but not critical.  I gave up on wanting the files back but now I want to simply WIPE my computer and re-install a clean version of OSX onto the computer, but I CANNOT GET TO THE REINSTALLER :(.
More information that may be helpful:
I do have a partition on the HDD that I was going to use for Bootcamp, but it does not have anything installed on it (thus causing the "no bootable device" screen to load, and probably causing the boot commands not to work).
My version of Mac OSX is 10.8.4. "MBP 15.4/2.8/16GB/768 flash"
The last time I restarted my computer, my mac OSX RAM was down to 1.75 GB, with nothing open.  Usually when nothing is open the free RAM is around 10-13 GB (I know this because I have the activity monitor always open, and I use my computer a lot).
Again, boot commands will not work, except for holding the alt/option key.
So if anyone can help me fix my problem(s), which are:
1: using boot commands; 2: reinstalling mac OSX; or 3: getting my files,
I would love you forever.  I would really prefer 1 or 2.  Thanks for reading this.

Oh and one more thing, I do not have a disc drive in the mac osx.  The version I have comes without one.
I am very puzzled about what to do right now.

  • Computer will not boot when iPod is connected

    Hi everyone,
First time Mac user here, so I'm not very experienced when it comes to troubleshooting - there may be a very simple fix for this, but I've searched online and come up with nothing so far.
I've recently bought a 20" Intel-based iMac (Core 2 Duo). I'm using Boot Camp (1.1.2 Beta) to dual boot with Windows. I already owned a 30gb iPod, which has previously been used with a Windows laptop. The iPod has disk mode enabled as I use it for transporting data as well as music and video.
Now that I'm using the iMac as my main comptuer, I keep the iPod docked & connected whenever I'm not out of the house in order to keep it charged & synchronised. However, if the iMac has to restart for any reason (like switching between Mac OS and Windows, or rebooting after a system update), it will not continue booting after making the chime sound. The screen remains white, holding the option key does not display the Boot Camp menu, and no matter how long it's left like this it will not continue to boot either OS. Pressing the Power button causes the computer to immediately switch off. Turning it on again after removing the iPod from the dock results in it booting normally.
Has anyone had any similar experiences?
    Thanks

    hi xJamez
    Welcome to Discussions
Because you said you use the iPod as an external hard drive, I am going to assume that it's not a nano, shuffle, or mini. What I suspect is that the computer is trying to boot from the iPod because the iPod actually has a hard drive in it, and the iMac thinks that it's an external hard drive that it can boot from. In the future, I would disconnect the iPod before each time you shut-down or restart your iMac.
    Hope this Helps

  • MBP will not boot when a USB/USB2 Device is plugged into either USB port.

MBP hangs on the initial Gray Screen when anything is plugged into either of my MBP's USB ports on boot and reboot. I've tried it with a USB mouse, USB2 Hard Drive, USB Memory Stick and USB RF Mouse. It DOES NOT happen when anything is plugged into the Firewire 800 port, only either USB port.
It happens on reboot and a fresh start whenever something is plugged into either of these two USB ports. I've let the gray screen sit overnight, just to see if it would enter the Login Panel. Didn't happen.
As soon as I unplug the USB item, the HD whirls up and a few seconds later the booting continues as normal. I have booted in verbose mode just to see what the system says. It stays on the gray screen, again, until I unplug the USB device. However, the screen does note the following:
"The IOUSBFamily is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying. (Port 3 of hub @ location: 0x6000000)."
The above error may or may not be related.
........AND BEFORE ANYONE SUGGESTS IT, YES I HAVE ZAPPED THE PRAM and reinstalled the OS from new MBP Install Disks from scratch! Still occurs.
Hope someone can also validate what I've wrote with the newer MBP, as well.
    Many Thanks!

I'm having exactly the same problem with my MacBook Pro.
It's either the usb hub or simply the iphone... every time I need to boot my macbook pro I have to disconnect every device. It's getting quite annoying.
The previous 17" Powerbook G4 had no issues.

  • RD430 will not boot when PCI card is added

I'm having an issue where my RD430 server will hang if I try to install a graphics card. My BIOS is up to date, using    v2.12
I purchased an NVIDIA Quadro K2000 card. I attach it to one of the risers, connect my monitor to the NVIDIA card, and turn the server on.
Immediately before displaying the "American Megatrends" BIOS screen, the server beeps twice, the beeps are about one second apart from each other. The options F1 for set-up, F12 for Boot Menu are displayed, but they do not function. If I press F1 or F12 nothing happens. After about 20 seconds, the server beeps again but the screen does not change. Another 20 seconds, another beep.  This happens a third time after another 20 seconds. After this the screen then goes black, and a blinking white cursor is up in the top left corner of the screen. Nothing happens after this point (I've waited hours.)
I turn off the server and I remove the NVIDIA card. I connect the monitor back to the on-board VGA port. I turn on the server and it operates normally. The OS boots, and I can also get into the Boot Menu and BIOS by pressing F1 or F12 when the American Megatrends screen is displayed.
I installed the NVIDIA card into a desktop computer to make sure it was operational, and the card worked perfectly.
Any idea what I should try? I checked the boot order in the BIOS and did not see anything wrong.

Update the bios... I had the same troubles and explain some about it in this thread.

    Hi Mqual,
    Thank you for the reply!
This kind of issue occurs if there is an issue with drivers or firmware, hence I request you to please check if you are getting any error in the Event viewer under system option.
Check with updating all the drivers from ThinkVantage system update utility.
If the issue still persists then check with updating system BIOS.

  • K8N Neo4 Platinum Will not boot when SP2 is installed

I installed everything on my pc. Used MSI live update to get everything up to date. I then realized that I didn't do any windows updates (was up to SP1) When I put sp2 on the pc bluescreens after the windows splash screen. I can bring up in safe , vga , and network enabled modes. I didn't install sp2 on the old bios so I don't know if it is a bios issue. Has anyone else had this problem? I need to put sp2 on eventually...... I was thinking that it might be a vga problem but I don't have another PCIX board to swap.

If you have another computer with a CD burner you can slipstream your copy of XP with SP2 (just google XP SP2 slipstream). Then you can just do a windows repair. If you can't I would suggest doing a windows repair anyways but right after you get into windows install SP2.
To me it sounds like a driver conflict. If neither works, you may have to format. Again when you do install windows then immediatly install SP2, then drivers and so forth.
    Good Luck
