  • PXI-8532 DNET card is not detected in MAX

    Hi all,
I'm using NI PXI-1031(4 slot PXI chassis). I have the following cards in the respective slots
    Slot 1= PXI-8106 Controller
    Slot 2= PXI-6259 card(AI)
    Slot 3= PXI-6509 card(DI,DO)
    Slot 4= PXI-8532 Card(DNET)
In MAX(Measurement & Automation Explorer), I was expecting all the above cards(PXI 6259, 6509 & 8532) to be detected under Devices and Interfaces. But only the AI and DIO cards are detected in MAX under Remote Systems>>PXI>>Devices and Interfaces.
    PXI-6259 (PXI1 Slot2)
    PXI-6509 (PXI1 Slot3)
The device net card, PXI-8532 is not detected in MAX. Does MAX shows/detects the DNET card?
In MAX, I selected Tools menu>>NI-DNET>>RT Hardware Configurations. Then a window prompts for RT IP address. After entering the IP address, I pressed OK. A message appears that no device is found.
Can any one help me how to detect the DNET card in MAX and do the DNET port configuration?
    DNET driver version - 1.6.4
    Thanks,
    Raja
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dirk,
Thanks for the reply. After updating the new driver, I am able to detect the DNET card PXI-8532 in MAX
New driver - NI-Industrial Communications for DeviceNet 2.1
But Im not able to configure the Device Net port. In MAX, I selected the menu option Tools>>NI-DNET>>RT Hardware Configurations. Then a window prompts for RT IP address. After entering the IP address, a message appears that no device interface is found.
By default, the DNET0 port is configured for the card in MAX. So I tried to communicate from LabVIEW using DNET0 port.
After installing Devicenet 2.1, an additional function palette has been added for DNET in LabVIEW.
Old DNET function palette - Instrument IO>>DNET
New DNET function palette - Industrial Communications
My original application was written with old function palette VIs which corresponds to DNET 1.6.4 version. In the download link that you shared has a description about the driver compatibility. The description says still the DNET card PXI-8532 is compatible with NI-DNET 1.x LabVIEW VIs.
With the old DNET VIs, I tried to establish communication with DNET interface port "DNET0". But it shows error while opening the interface.
Error Code ="-1074388957" - The Interface is invalid or unknown.  Solution: Verify that the interface is assigned to a specific port within the Devices and Interfaces branch of the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX).
With the new DNET VIs(DNET 2.1.0), Im able to open the DNET interface successfully. But my original application was written in Old DNET VIs (DNET 1.6.4).
    1. Do you know why the DNET 1.6.4 LabVIEW VIs are not working with PXI-8532 DNET card?
    2. Can you help me how to configure DNET port in MAX for PXI-8532 DNET card?
    Thanks,
    Raja

  • Pxi cards on 1000b cahssis not detected under windows 98

my mxi-3 card is being detected on windows startup (mxi-3 optimization software is running correctly) but all other pxi cards on my 1000b pxi chassis are not detected.

    Anis,
Well, I always prefer to try the simplest things first. In this case, that would be fully powering down the chassis and the computer. Then powering on the chassis first, and a few seconds later, powering on the computer. If this doesn't help, then you would probably want to try any or all of the following troubleshooting steps to try and isolate the problem:
    - Try removing all but the mxi-3 and one other card from chassis and then try booting up.
    - Try placing the pci mxi-3 card in a different slot in the computer.
    - Try uninstalling and reinstalling all the NI software on your computer. (better yet, format and reinstall).
    - Try the pci mxi-3 card in a different computer.
    - Try a different set of mxi-3 cards (if available)
    - Check
device manager to see if there are any errors or warnings.
So those are the things that I would try. If after all that you still have no luck connecting you may have a hardware problem and need to RMA (Return Materials Authorization) your hardware.
Please post back with what you find.

  • Presario CQ 71 - Built in Webcam not detected under Windows 7 Professional - No HP-101 device

I have a Compaq Presario CQ 71 EB400. On this notebook I run both Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bits and  Windows  7 Professional 64-bits to compare behaviour of apps and windows features in both  environments.
Windows 7 Home on  my  HD C partition
Windows 7 Professional  on my HD F partition.
The CQ 71 has a built in Webcam, that shows up under Windows 7 Home premium Device Manager - Imaging Devices  (Cameras and Scanners)  as HP-101, linked to the required drivers.
    Under Windows 7 Home premium:
    - The built-in CQ 71 Webcam is detected and operational - the HP-101 entry is present in Device Manager.
    - Applications using a Webcam like Skype, Mycam, Manycom etc connect with the Webcam
    - When I  plug in an external Webcam,  thet webcam is detected as well, drivers loaded etc.
    Under Windows 7 Professional:
    - The built in Webcam is not detected, in the Device Manager -Imaging Devices, the HP-101 Webcam entry is absent
    - Skype, Mycam, Manycam cannot find a  Webcam (also not when an external USB Webcam is plugged in)
    - A plugged in external Web cam is not detected as an imaging device.
I use a Brother printer/scanner/fax machine,  the Brother scanner device is visible as Imaging device in Device manager in both Windows 7 Home premium and Windows 7 Professional.
Other USB devices, portable disks, card readers etc seem to work OK in both Windows 7 environments.
The HP support pages provide information what to do when a internal Webcam is not detected; The recommended actions make no difference.  Going back to a  previous W7 Prof restore point is no option,  as on the CQ 71 notebook the built-in Webcam  never functioned under W7 Professional.
The major difference is that all Windows 7 Home Premium relatede system software resides on the C partition, all Windows 7 Professional system software on the F partition.
I'm looking for a way to kickstart the built in CQ 71 Webcam under Windows 7 Professional installed  on a non-standard partition.
Your suggestions will be very welcome.
    Jan Dijckmeester.

    Hi again jdij,
It is good to hear back from you!
To enable your system to detect the Webcam in Windows 7, I recommend re-installing the original drivers and software that first came with your computer. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 7). To update the newly installed software, please follow this resource on Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 7).
If the webcam is still not detected, I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7).
Should the problem continue, I suggest performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. This can be done by following the steps in this resource on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7), as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7). This should return your system back to factory defaults.

  • Sound card is not detected under Windows 8

    Hi there,
I bought an Asus Xonar DGX PCIe soundcard. When inserted it is not detected by the system; it is like it doen not exist.
I have a new Dell Inspiron 660 pc with 3mHz I5 processor, 8Gb memory, 4 extension slots, one full lengthand 3 PCIe, Nvidia Gforce GT640 graphics card (in the full length extension slot). Its running Windows8. The Xonar is inserted in the 3rd slot as the
second is blocked by the vent of the Gforce card.
I loaded the latest driver form Asus and disabled the on-board soundcard in the "Bios" but to no avail.
The first card was returned to the distributor with those problems as they expected it to be defect. Now i got a new one and installed it has the same problem.
Can anybody help me with this one??
    Regards Steffen

    Hi,
    Please try the following:
    1. Check if the card can work on other Windows 8 computers.
    2. Update chipset driver and BIOS.
As this is a hardware issue, it is also recommended that you contact Asus and Dell for help.
    Thanks.

  • IPod classic 160GB not detected under Windows Vista

    Hi,
I was trying to find something on that problem, but obviously all the problems with iPod and Vista are slightly different.
    Here's my story:
    Toshiba Portege R400
    Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
    iPod Classic 160GB
    iTunes 7.6.0.29
    USB 2.0
When I try to connect iPod to the computer NOTHING happens. Not that it starts searching for drivers or something like that. NOTHING.
The same iPod works fine with another computer but there's XP. I haven't tried it with different Vista so far.
USB ports are fine cause other devices like mouse or headphones work fine.
What else... I re-installed iTunes 3 times so far, didn't help. I also have the latest updates for Vista (at least Windows Update says that).
I know there are some workarounds to point different folder to look for drivers etc. But I don't even have the opportunity, cause nothing happens.
I've noticed one thing: when the iPod is plugged-in and I turn on the comp then, the iPod display flashes. It doesn't say it's connected but it reacts. And that's all. Later it comes back to normal "not working".
    Have anyone encountered similar problem?
    Regards
    Tomek

I have the same problem and I have Windows XP on 2 machines with iTunes. I plug the iPod in and it is not detected at all.
I plugged it into my girlfriends laptop (also XP) without iTunes and it is detected and works fine.
I have uninstalled iTunes and that does not help, it's like the iPod Classic 160GB is invisible on my 2 main machines...

  • CRIO not Detected in MAX

    Hello,
I'm totally new to NI and LabVIEW, so I may have done many unnecessary steps or missed something obvious, but here's the rundown (what I can remember) of what I tried:
I'm trying to make a cRIO-9073 (newer revision, IPreset switch does not reset IP to 0.0.0.0) work with LabVIEW 2011 SP1 (includes MAX 5.1.0f0 and NI-VISA 5.1) installed on Windows 7 Professional SP1 using a crossover ethernet cable.  MAX does not recognize the cRIO in the Remote Systems tab.  After initial problems, I was able to locate 2 IP addresses corresponding to the cRIO, but its still does not appear in MAX.  I have tried the following:
refreshing the list using F5, rebooting the cRIO, and using the IPreset switch
reinstalling drivers on the computer using September 2011 NI System Driver Set CD
manually adding the a new remote VISA system in MAX (tells me that a device is already using that IP address)
manually adjusted the LAN settings in the Windows control panel and disabled DHCP
edited Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
manually set IP address and local subnet mask to match the cRIO settings
Added exceptions to the Windows firewall
    NI-RIO RPC Server
    VISA Interactive Control
I think that the software and/or drivers on either the computer or the cRIO may not be up to date or compatible with the rest, but I'm not too sure on how to install software on the cRIO if I cannot see it in MAX.  Any ideas?
    Thank you!
    Solved!

    Zach-H wrote:
To add the device manually you need to select "Remote Device (not on the local subnet)" not "Remote VISA System". The cRIO should try and default to a link local IP address (169.254.x.x Range) if it can't communicate with a DHCP server. This will likely be the case with the cRIO connected directly to the computer.
If your computer isn't on an agreeing IP and subnet mask its likely that the cRIO wouldn't show up unless you add it manually. You don't want to set them up as the same as the cRIO as they need individual IP addresses. I would recommend setting the subnet masks the same and adding one to the last number of the cRIO's IP address, which should allow it to show up in MAX.
Very useful document for this kind of a situation: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/abe4bc247e8ac9bc8625734e005cab42?OpenDocument
When I tried to add it as a "Remote Device (not on the local subnet)," I got the error message "The device at this address is not supported by the drivers installed on this host."  I checked that my version of NI-RIO 4.0 is compatible with the cRIO-9073.
Also, I ran through the link you provided, and the steps did not remedy the problem.  When I ran the cRIO with the CONSOLE OUT switch ON, I was able to get lots of information from the cRIO in the command prompt in Windows.  This makes me think that there are no problems with the cRIO, but with the software I have installed on Windows.  I'm not sure what else I can try to install, though.

  • CDAQ-9181 not detected in MAX

I have NI device which I am trying to connect to in NIMAX however it just not getting connected to it or searched. But I see it running in NI Network browser with some random ip address which I can not ping. Hence I can't configure that device in Network browser either.
Any Idea what's wrong? or if there is any utility to configure it? Or it's a NI-DAQ version problem. ??
I tried NI - MAX 5.1, 5.5 & 5.6 but no use, they all failed to detect it.
Where I can download just the device drivers but not whole NI suite?

    Hi prabhushrikant-
Which version of NI-DAQmx are you using currently?  You can download the latest version here, but make sure first that it meets your O/S and LabVIEW (or other NI software) compatibility requirements.
What 'random ip' do you see in the network browser for the device?  What happens if you try to click on the link in the network browser?  Can you tell us more about the networking setup on your PC and network?  Do you have multiple NICs in the PC?  What are their networking settings set to (DHCP, static IP, etc)?

  • Board not detected from MAX

The machine is equipped with NT4.0 sp5, and was using an old PC-TIO-10 with NIDAQ6.1.
We decided to sobstitute the board with a PCI-6023E, as we needed some analog signal inputs.
We installed NIDAQ6.8.1 (without first uninstalling 6.1 version), put away the PC-TIO-10, and installed the PCI-6023E.
Once MAX opened, it showed the PCI-6023E, but also continued to show the PC-TIO-10 board. We manually removed this old board from the list("delete"). But, at successive MAX openings, it was impossible to find the PCI-6023E board, also refreshing or setting the preferences at "every time I launch MAX".
We tried unistalling and reinstalling NIDAQ6.8.1, reinstalling NIDAQ6.1 so to try to uninstall it, restarting the machine many times, changing slo
t for the board, but we never more managed to see the PCI-6023E board among the devices.
Now the system is on, the board is in the PC, NIDAQ6.8.1 is installed, but we have not the way to use the board.
We cannot reinstall all (NT, applications, etc.) as the PC is on a plant and cannot be stopped for more than a few minutes.
We are sure that no secondary things may have caused the problems (bios settings, applications, etc.) as the first time after installation the board was correctly recognised.
    Many thanks.

    Moroli
Here is what I would suggest to do.
    1. Uninstall NI-DAQ
    2. Clean the registry
-Click on Windows 'Start' Button and goto 'Run'
-Type in regedit to open the Registry Editor
    -Follow this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> Software >> National Instruments >> NI-DAQ
    -Delete the NI-DAQ folder
-Shutdown computer and take out PCI-6023 board
    -Reinstall newest version of NI-DAQ
    (NI-DAQ 6.9.1 can be download from ni.com
-After installation is complete, put PCI-6023 board back in computer
By going through these steps, you should be able to use your board normally.

  • 7332 is not detected in MAX

    Hi,
We have a PCI NI7332 motion controller purchased with us. We installed the drivers and softwares  from the cd that comes with the package. The problem is PCI NI7332 showing as NI7330 in MAX . Anyway its listing the two axis in max. When i tried to connect an encoder and read it in MAX nothing is happening.  Do i have to change any setting when using the board for the first time?
    With regards,
    Jerry

    Jerry,
    I don't quite understand this:
" The problem is PCI NI7332 showing as NI7330 in MAX . Anyway its listing the two axis in max. "
I'm assuming that the board just isn't showing up in NI-MAX.  If you are running Windows, I would go to the Device Manager on your machine and make sure the computer is recognizing it first (I'm not familiar with the Mac equivalent of this).  If the computer is not recognizing it as a piece of hardward installed on the motherborrd, there may be a bad connection.  Restarting the computer is also not a bad idea just to make sure everything is operating correctly.
Hope you get it figured out.

  • PXIe-1073 not detected

I'm trying to install a PXIe-1073 chassis on a new Dell system running Windows 7 x64.  I have the latest version of Labview, NI-DAQmx, etc.  The PCI express controller shows as properly installed in the Device Manager ("PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge").  The chassis and installed DAQ card are not detected in MAX.
I am actually transferring this system from an older computer.  I recall having exactly the same problem before, and I'm fairly certain I solved it by installing the "MXI-Express BIOS Compatability Software".  There was never any way to actually identify the "PXI System" as anything other than "External PC" even when it was working properly.
After installing the current version of the MXI-Express software, I rebooted and was able to load MAX briefly before Windows BSODed with an error involving "niraptrk.dll".  This proceeded to occur every time I tried to load Windows.  I was able to start in safe mode, but attempting to uninstall any NI software gave me an "error 1601".  I was finally able to load the last known good configuration and uninstall the software.
When I checked MAX again, the chassis was still unrecognized, but there were multiple broken entries for the DAQ card installed in it, so I assume it was detected at some point.  It looks like the MXI-Express software worked, but it's obviously unusable if it causes the computer to BSOD every time Windows starts.  Why is the computer unable to recognize the chassis without it?  What else can I do to solve the problem?

    Hello Bob_mcbob,
After looking over this issue, I think we have a problem with the Windows installer on your machine. I have found a KnowledgeBase about the Error 1601 stating that this is a Microsoft Windows installer error and that the installer will need to be reinstalled. The Knowledgebase explains how to do this.
As for the BSOD, do you have any more information that it provided when this occurred like the address line, etc? Did you do something in MAX before it crashed?
Since accessing MAX now gives you a BSOD, I think it would be best to uninstall/reinstall the drivers to fix the issue. What cards do you have in this system?

  • Pxi rt detection issue in MACX

    hi frenz,
i'm using PXI-8186 RT for my application. The issue is, sometimes RT is detected in MAX and sometimes it's not detected in MAX. If once i do format and reinstallation everything, it's been detected and again it becomes unable to detect in MAX. give me the solution if anyone knows.....

    ragu,
There are many factors that can cause your RT PXI not to show up (networking, firewalls, software, driver, etc). The most common issues with real-time targets not showing up in MAX are outlined here:  Why Does My CompactRIO Controller Not Show Up in Measurement & Automation Explorer?. The document is written for cRIO, but some of those run the same RT operating system as your controller (PharLap). One difference is that you will not need the NI-RIO driver to see the PXI.
If you are connected through a router or a switch, I would try connecting directly through a crossover cable and see if the problem goes away:  Connecting to a LabVIEW Real-Time (RT) Target with a Crossover Cable

  • IPod 5th Gen constantly resets and is not detected

My iPod 5th Gen erased all my music and constantly resets when plugged in.  I've searched far and wide through support to no avail so I look to the community to aid my quest to load music to my iPod again.  Thanks in advance for the help!
    Situation:
    - music and all data erased suddenly and is currently in factory settings
    - when iPod is plugged in to computer, the iPod screen shows (in order):
° "connected, eject before disconnecting" (~5 seconds)
° off screen, completely blank (~1 second)
° apple logo appears as if restored (~5 seconds)
         ° repeat perpetually
    Attempted Remedies and Scenarios:
    - restore iPod via select / menu buttons
    - try running Disc Mode via select / play buttons
    - restore iPod via iTunes (cannot attempt because it is not detected under devices)
    - reformat and erase all data in iPod via iTunes (cannot attempt because it is not detected under devices)
    - reformat iPod via Disk Utility (iPod is not detected on Mac so cannot select)
    - attempted all of the above with the following variables:
° with pc running Windows 7, iTunes current
° with Mac mini running Mavericks, iTunes current
° with Macbook Air running Mavericks, iTunes current
° tried all USB ports on all above computers
° tried 2 separate 30-pin USB cables (both USB cables work with my iPhone 4s)
         ° iPod is fully charged
         ° restart all computers

Hi everyone..  just found the solution... conveniently after I start a thread.  Turns out that my iPod nano had converted all 7.3GB of my 8GB into "Other" space and reset all my settings.
    Solution is as follows:
    - run disc mode while plugged-in (running Macbook Air)
    - restore dialog box appears via iTunes while in disc mode
    - restore iPod nano
    - upload music
    - enjoy
