Python for s60 v 2.0.0

https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_id=854
Finally, there is a link, where you could download the new version.
I have this question: Which of all files from v2.0, should I install on my phone, because I have message appear, when I try to install on Nokia E52 apps like: Light Sabre and MarableMaze, "Python For S60 is missing"?

I'm using this Lightsabre app (v0.2) on my E72 and it works. (the image display on the E72 seems to be slight cropped on the edges, probably because the app is designed for phones with bigger resolution display though).  Didn't need to install Python for it to work (I hadn't installed Python on my cellphone when I installed that Lightsabre app that time).
(I forgot if I had to install the N95Accelerometer sensor API .sis installer or it's not needed, I recall I did try installing it though.)
http://graho.wordpress.com/2009/04/23/lightsabre-5th-edtion-v02/
However, I did try MarbleMaze (trial versions) and I think it didn't need Python either.
I installed the v1.70 which installed successfully, unfortunately, the marble ball doesn't move when I orient my phone (ball gets stuck in one corner of the screen, although moving my E72's optical pad sometimes "wiggles" the ball.
I also tried installing the v1.80 (for Nokia XM 5800), but I recall it didn't install or didn't run at all.
~~~~~
Granted, I did try installing Python 1.9.7 and could run the pre-included scripts. But other than the pre-installed ones, I haven't been able to run other "Python-required" apps (eg. Python apps like SlidEscape, CarMeter -- didn't seem to work even after I installed Python 1.9.7 on the E72).  Although, I don't know if I installed Python correctly in the first place. ;-)
Would appreciate help too.
    Python is not an app, it's an operating programme, like Flash or Java, you won't get an icon. By the way, why do you want Python ? I have it and it makes a novelty Beer programme fill screen then empty when tilted ! Only bothered with it because I have a mate who thought his fruit based product was the best thing since sliced bread, worry about Python if you find something you really want that requires it to work !
    Good Luck
  • Turkish tts support for s60 v3 &s60 v3.1
    Dears,
    I own one e90 commi and one e61i and using them flawlessly.
    I am living in Turkey.
    I am using text to speech function for emails and sms mesages in English while driving, it is a very useful function.
    Hence I am living in Turkey, most of my messages are obviously in Turkish.Unfortunately messages in Turkish are completely meaningless when they are read in English language and accent.
    When I check Nokia's text to speech support page, I realized that there is Turkish language modules for S60 v3.2 phones like e75, n78, n79, n85, n96, so on, however there is no turkish language support for s60 v3 and s60 v3.1 phones (i.e. e61i and e90).
    Is it possible to implement the language support for v3.2 phones to v3 & v3.1 phones?
    Do you have an idea about it?
    And one question to nokia guys; there are many nokia phones sold in Turkey (you know sales figures better than me), why dont you support Turkish tts for older phones?
    As I know, 2.1 version doesn't work with Tuxedo Corba on RH AS3.0.
  • Skyfire Browser for S60 5th
    A short while ago the Skyfire browser for S60 5th edition phones was released in beta.
    I've installed and have been giving it a try and I have to say that it's very good and extremely fast so would definitley reccomend trying this.
    I know it sounds like it but I'm nothing to do with Skyfire nor am I getting commission...... ah wel!!!!
    Oh.... best put a few smileys in having just read earlier posts.... some seem to think they're essential
    I was a huge fan of this up to a cople of weeks ago, but it seems that the Skyfire servers are now overloaded and data transfer is very slow. Connected through my WiFi I'm getting data transfer rates of less than 1Kb/s when Opera gives me 100s of Kb/s!
    I wonder if Skyfire has become a victim of its own success - the best thing about Skyfire is that you can view streaming videos, but this will mean that Skyfire servers have to handle a much higher amount of data per user. A normal Opera browsing session may use only a few Mb data in an hour, but browsing videos on Skyfire will take 10 times that amount of data. That means Skyfire has to maintain 10 times the server infrastructor of Opera to support the same number of users.
  • Db for S60 devices... how !
    Hi guys...
    I read the documentation of Db to build Db for S60. The problem is that documentation was not enough (at least for me!). The documentation speaks about a file called bdb_s60.mmp which i can not find in db-5.1.25 ! any idea!
    You can do that?!
    I thought iTunes locked everything up so tight that wasn't possible .. It's one of the reasons I've never understood why anyone would want to use iTunes - that and the fact they rip off us poor Europeans: we pay like 50% more per track than they do in the US (99 cents is around 50p at current exchange rates).
    At least the price one still holds ..
  • Python for WEC2013?
    Hello,
    we want to embed a scripting language into our native C++ application for customer specific adaptions/extensions.
    I already embedded
    Lua, which was fairly easy to integrate and fulfills our requirements:
    call a script function from c++
    calling c++ functions from script
    Our Boss wants us to evaluate
    Python too, but i didn't find binaries for Windows Embedded Compact and compiling the sources for WEC2013 gives me a zillion compiler errors.
    I found
    PythonCE, but it looks rather inactive and i think i have to invest some time to build it for WEC2013.
    So my question is: have anyone already embedded Python into a native C++ WEC2013 application and could give me some advice?
  • Pop-Port WLAN for s60 devices
    I have an n70 and feel it only lacks the wlan, I was wondering if it was possible to make a wlan device for s60 phones that would plug in to the pop-port, I have thought about it and don’t see why it wouldn’t work as the port can be used to transfer data. I wanna know is it possible and if it is why no one has thought about it yet.
    I suspect there might not be a market big enough for such a gadget to warrant the cost of developing, marketing and supporting it.
    In any case, with newer models, Pop-Port seems to be on its way out anyway.
    Are there any guides that make learning python easier if you know bash?
    I used, and still do use, The Python Phrasebook by Brad Dayley. I find it handy for when I forget how to do something simple. It is a fairly simple book and as others have mentioned, the online python docs are very nice. The library reference in particuar.
  • Music metadata editor for S60 5th
    Is there a musin metadata editor for MP3 and/or AAC (ID3, etc) that runs on S60 5th?
    Since the player is so dependant on metadata to organize stuff it would be good to have one editor in the phone itself for the ocasional update.
    Yes.
    It's called the Music Player
    Open the Music Player then go to Options -> Song Details
    You can also add Album Art there if you want.
  • Skype for s60.3.2 fails?
    It seems I have yet another s60.3.2 app to add to the group gradually becoming flaky with age: Skype. It will no longer sign in properly. Skype tech support merely stated it was no longer officially supported (only the versions for touch-screen Symbian phones are, although I'd be surprised if any further updates appeared for any Symbian phones). So, my usual question: Anyone getting Skype (latest version is 1.5) to work on an s60.3.2 phone?
    Was able to finally get Skype to work (but for how long?)  Procedure:
    Uninstall Skype.
    Turn off phone.
    Remove battery, leave out for at least a minute.
    Reinstall battery, reboot phone.
    Reinstall Skype.
    Wait for at least 10 minutes before running Skype.
    Try running Skype (will require choosing a few preferences, and then entering name/password).
    Pray to the god of your choice.
    Worked with N79, might also work with E5 and other s60 phones?
    Do you really use this app.. Could you tell me of some application.
    Iguess why it wont come on S60v3 is because these multimedia computers (as they are called) are hungry on battery and this app would add to the worry :-)
    That and the problems with bluetooth. Probably a complete nightmare to try and get round these issues.
    Dreaming of a 5320XpressMusic - 128MB RAM makes up for the 2MP cam !
    Thanks everyone for the replies and you WERE right almsdriver. I WAS going to buy the 6120c. I read almost every review on it on the net, searched so much on it's bugs and did everything. Sadly, it seems, I'll have to give up the idea of buying the 6120c. I'm not the type of kid (I'm still 17) who always bothers parents to buy things (I don't usually. Not even for food. This is the only thing that I asked from them after a long time). Money problems. Because I won't be able to sell my 6233 for a worthy price. 6120c is around USD290 here. I had asked mom to ask from shop whether they'll buy it, but the answer from shop wasn't good enough. I don't like to bother my parents. I almost cried. I really loved the 6120c. But I have already faced many sad things (you'll know if you've visited my blog, address on my signature), so this is not new. Thanks anyway for your answers.
    P.S: If I bought it, I was thinking of getting a third party headset in exchange to the microSD. As it seemed to be one of the biggest issues for me as I was used to 6233's audio quality. I loved the super light weight Symbian champion, I had long wanted a Symbian upgrade. Unfortunately it was the only smartphone that was at at least a bit affordable price for me.
  • Nokia emulator for S60 is too slow!
    Hello.
    I've installed:
    1) J2SE
    2) J2ME
    3) NetBeans
    4) NetBeans Mobile Pack
    5) Nokia S60 Emulator
    All works fine, I'm able to compile all midlets correctly and to test them on nokia emulator, but because of I'm a newbie, I control what happens at my midlet very often after i've done an change. But when I click on RUN, the nokia emulator takes about 1min to launch, and it's so boring to wait 1min every 3-4min to debug my app!!!
    If you want to know information about my PC:
    - OS Windows XP HE SP2
    - 512MB ram
    - Intel P4 3.2GB
    - 256MB Ati radeon 9550
    - 200GB HD
    I hope you'll help me.
    Thank you for any help.
    This sounds like you are using the emulator with a computer with Hyperthreading. This will cause the slowdown. You need to set the emulator to only run on one of the processors (since winxp thinks it has 2).
    I'v found an explaination on how to do this on http://www.arsfoodcourt.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&file=index&func=display&ceid=49&meid=19, here ya go:
    This way requires "imagecfg" from the Win2k or WinXP Resource kit and modifies the actual FAH exe.
    * You can permanently set processor affinity for a non-operating system executable, on both Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0, by using the Imagecfg.exe tool from the \support\debug\i386 folder of a Windows NT 4.0 CD-ROM, or the Imagecfg.exe tool from the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit Supplement One.
    * NOTE: Do NOT use imagecfg on any kernel operating system files.
    * To permanently set the processor affinity for your 32-bit executable, open a CMD prompt and type:
    o imagecfg -a 0xn <Drive:>\Path\yourprogram.exe
    o where 0xn is the affinity mask. The mask constrains your application to a specific CPU, from 0 - 31, where:
    CPU      MASK
    0      0x1
    1      0x2
    2      0x4
    3      0x8
    4      0x10
    5      0x20
    6      0x40
    7      0x80
    8      0x100
    ...      etc.
    o For instance, to set the affinity for "c:\util\Country Codes.exe" to processor 1, use:
    + imagecfg -a 0x2 "c:\util\Country Codes.exe"
    + which received the following response:
    c:\util\Country Codes.exe contains no configuration information
    c:\util\Country Codes.exe contains a Subsystem Version of 4.0
    c:\util\Country Codes.exe updated with the following configuration information:
    Process Affinity Mask: 00000002
    + When Country Codes.exe is launched now, its' affinity is set to CPU 1.
    "
