Python, Windows binary distribution dbxml 2.5.13

I'm having trouble completing the installation of the binary distribution of Dbxml 2.5.13: I seem to be missing the Python bsddb libraries.
On XP SP2 I installed ActivePython-2.5.4.4-win32-x86.msi and dbxml-2.5.13.msi.
In c:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.5.13\python I find the following file: dbxml-2.5.13.win32-py2.5.exe. I did not find bsddb3-4.7.6.win32-py2.5.exe or any bsddb3 installation files. Is this a bug in the Windows distribution? Or, if I must download then from where?
Thanks,
John Cooper

  • Read windows binary files

    Hi,
Our company have been receving the binary data (filename.BIN) files only avaible for Windows.
Even though Linux and Windows are both little endian I can't read them directly. If I do I receive the following messages.
    Error 1010: record too long
    Unit: 2
I also tried to compile the Fortran program with the option "-xfilebeyeorder=little4:inputfile " or "-xfilebeyeorder=little16:inputfile " and received the same erro message.
Have tried many things no of which worked.
Really appreciate for your help or suggestions.

I do not think the change in compatibility mode affects byte alignment: as far as I can remember it is defined at processor level, not at compiler one. Are CVI 8.5 and 2010 installed on the same machine?
On the other hand, a change in CVI version could affect structure packing (I seem to remember to have found such an issue when porting some applications from CVI 6 to 7): if you are reading your binary files through a struct you may want to investigate on default structure packing between the two systems and add the appropriate #pragma pack preprocessor clause to guarantee compatibility between them.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Windows Programming with Java??? Is it possible???

I have a small request from a client (Windows User) who wants a really simple POP3 email checker. I basically need to achieve the same thing that many email clients do, where they show some sort of symbol in the System tray when there is new email. I, however want to do this without the actual email client. All I want is the checker. This program will not download the email, gather information or anything. It will simply check the POP3 account and let the user know if there is new email.
1.Can I get an icon to appear in the system tray and have a program that runs in the background, simply checking the POP3 account for new mail???
2.If it is possible to interact with windows, then how is it done??? If this is too large of a question and you know of some resources that can answer this question for me, that will do.
3.Is it even possible to have Java programs run in the background without appearing in the task bar??
    4. Am I trying to do something with Java that it just plain cannot do???

Another really god option is to use the coroutine package from http://www.nevaobject.com/java/index.htm. This allows you invoke COM and Windows API's without having to write the JNI yourself. Its about $695 for a site-wide development license and has no binary distribution costs. A nice, cheap solution to spending lots of hours doing it youself. From the few things I tinkered with, it really does a great job too, but I have not deployed in a real production environment.

  • Windows installation missing php extensions

After installation, I`ve tried to find some dll files for php. But there is only vsproj files, which eventually turned to be empty. Is there any kind of additional package or something to get these files ?
    php_db4 and php_dbxml

    Hello,
Yes, we do not provide php dlls in the msi installer. You can build the php dll yourself after downloading the source distribution, dbxml-2.5.16.zip. The php windows build instructions are at dbxml-2.5.16\dbxml\src\php\INSTALL.WINDOWS.txt. There is some mention of php dll files in INSTALL.WINDOWS.txt, but they do not seem to exist. Please skip over that part. I'll let you know what else I find about it.

  • "cygwin-stick" project or something? ("bash-on-stick-for-Windows")

    Hi!
Well, what can I say... "sorry, the Internet is a mess" (and I probably keep looking in the wrong places), so: Is there a good "cygwin-stick project" somewhere?
I keep noticing, how helpless I sometimes am with batch. And I'm missing things like find, grep, curl, rsync and sometimes imagemagick & ffmpeg. Is there already a neatly maintained repo somewhere to sync the most important stuff to an usb-stick and carry it around?
( I know how to install cygwin to and make it run from an usb-stick... I guess I could figure out how to compile the most important stuff with XP... and there has to be an old WinXP cd+license somewhere I can use to do so... but there has to be a better solution, right? )
    Thanks!

The cygwin installers I can find don't really look like thei're meant to be carried around on an usb-stick and used on different computers where cygwin isn't installed. Also, there's limited precompiled AND limited "should-be-able-to-compile/run-maybe" software, which seems to be all over the place.
So what I was searching for, was - like I wrote - something that's meant to be run on an usb stick. Something better maintained, maybe containing more software. Maybe as a zip archive or image to be extracted to an usb stick or as a svn repo or something. With updated every once in a while... and stuff. Sort of like a "small windows/GNU distribution".
Not a binary .exe file I have to install on a Windows Machine (which I'd have to scrap together from old parts first), copy installed system files around to get it run on another computer from usb-stick, search around all over the net for versions of things that could work, fiddle around with stuff some more to actually make it compile... and have a windows machine standing around just for updating the usb-stick.

  • Windows update on windows 7 laptop will not work

Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.
I am receiving the above message every time I click the ' check for updates' icon. Restarting does not resolve the problem.
I have trawled the internet and found a solution that worked for several people- going to services.msc, closing windows update,
deleting files in c:\windows\software distribution, reopening windows update through services.msc- however this has not resolved the issue for me.
Under systems.msc it is listed as started, automatic (delayed)
The Background Intelligence Transfer service is the same. I have checked the profiles of both programs and there are no discrepancies.
I have used the microsoft fix it program. No effect
    Please help!

Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver was THE fix for me as well.  I had spent many hours on this today trying to resolve the following errors:
Windows Update could not get updates because "the
service was not running" (even though Windows Update and the BITS services and others
    were in fact running).
Also Windows Defender Service could not start.  I opened the Windows Defender Control Panel applet, it told me it was stopped, I clicked on the Turn On button, while at the same time I monitored the services app (command prompt - services.msc).
I watched the status of Windows Defender service.  It kept changing from Stopped to Started just for a second or so, then the service would immediately stop again.  In Control Panel, Windows Defender finally timed out
with the same error listed by amerianz:  Error 0x8e5e0247: 0x8e5e0247
I tried many things from different search results for these 2 issues.  Among other things, after I disabled Antivirus, I stopped WUAUSERV and BITS, renamed Windows\SoftwareDistribution then restarted.  I tried a Windows Update
FixIt on the Microsoft FixIt center.  It said it found and fixed Windows Update issues, but no change.  I tried running SFC /SCANNOW from command prompt. The log said it found corrupted files but this made no difference.
Finally after installing the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, my PC immediately found new hardware and installed a driver.  Note: before installing this driver, all hardware listed in
Device Manager already had drivers installed.  I was then prompted to reboot.  After rebooting, Windows Update still had a red X and could
not check for updates.  So I opened the Windows Defender Control Panel applet, which showed that updates were available.  This meant of course that the Windows Defender service had started successfully.  I then clicked on the
Check for Updates button on Windows Defender, and after several seconds while Windows Defender was looking for updates, I noticed that the
Windows Update icon had appeared in the system tray and Windows was downloading new updates.  Both issues fixed.  Many thanks.

  • How to make Windows Update work properly after a fresh XP Home Installation

    1. Set up Boot Camp 60 gig partition.
    2. Install full copy of Windows XP SP2 on the Boot Camp partition.
    3. Using the OSX Disk, Install the Boot Camp 2.0 Drivers for Windows.
    4. Download the Boot Camp 2.1 Update from apple.com and install it.
    5. In Windows, run the Apple Software Update.
    6. In your Windows systray, you probably have notice of "automatic software updates". Install them from the systray notification and they will install correctly.
    7. Now manually visit Windows Update. You can view all available updates but if you try to actually install any updates this way you will hang immediately at the "Downloading" status. No actual download even starts.
This problem will persist across reboots, etc. It will occur if you try to upgrade from Windows Update to Microsoft Update, and even if you then uninstall Microsoft Update and go back to Windows Update.
The only action that corrects this problem is to perform the following steps:
    1. In Windows, choose Start > Run and enter "msconfig".
    2. In the MS Configuration utility, choose to restart Windows in diagnostic mode. (You must perform the following step in diagnostic mode or some of the files you need to delete will be locked by some running service or whatnot.)
    3. After Windows comes up in diagnostic mode, open the C:\Windows\Software Distribution. Delete everything inside that folder (but not the folder itself).
    4. Run msconfig again and select to restart Windows in normal mode again.
    5. When Windows comes up in normal mode, it recreates the entire default contents that you just deleted in the previous step, and Windows Update will now work properly.

I kept running into this same problem with Windows Update every single time I restarted into Boot Camp from the OSX side of things. (System Preferences > Startup Disk > select Untitled > Restart.)
I could clear the problem every time by rebooting (while in Boot Camp) into Diagnostic mode, clearing the contents of the C:\Windows\Software Distribution folder, and then restarting back into Normal mode.
On a hunch, one time I did not bother with the above steps, but just restarted Windows (Start > Shutdown > Restart). Whaddya know? That worked to clear the problem with Windows Update too!
So at this point I think the root cause of the problem is something about Boot Camp itself, particularly when you first switch from OSX over to your Boot Camp partition. It is 100% repeatable that Windows Update will run and find your various uninstalled updates, but if you try to actually download any of them, the process will hang right at the start of "Downloading".
Simply shutting down and restarting Windows while already in Boot Camp solves this problem completely.
It's also interesting to note that if you use VMWare Fusion to run a VM of your Boot Camp partition you do not have this problem at all. Windows Update will run perfectly each and every time you run your Boot Camp version of Windows under VMWare Fusion. You only need to do this restarting of Windows if you are actually in Boot Camp.

  • Instantclient 11.2.0.3 on Windows XP (x86) ODBC Error

    Greetings,
Trying to deploy instantclient 11.2.0.3 w/ODBC on Windows XP.
    Unzipped files to c:\oracle\instantclient_11_2.
    Ran odbc_install.exe.
    Added c:\oracle\instantclient_11_2 to path.
    Created/set TNS_ADMIN environment variable.
    Reboot
Running windows ODBC Data Source Administrator to add Oracle data source gives following error:
"The setup routines for the Oracle in instantclient_11_2 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 14001."
Click OK. Next dialog box says:
"Could not load the setup or translator library."
    Any ideas?
The instantclient 11.2.0.1 distribution works fine with the same setup procedure. I'm not new to instantclient--been using it for at least a year with great success. Just trying to use the latest version of the instantclient software on this computer. I also notice that the 11.2.0.1 base distribution includes a number of dll files that are not included with the 11.2.0.3 base distribution. These include a number of mfc*.dll and msv*.dll files. Does instantclient no longer support XP installs as of the 11.2.0.3 release? Did Oracle forget to include a bunch of dll files in the base 11.2.0.3 window x86 distribution? Did the deployment procedure change between 11.2.0.1 and 11.2.0.3? Am I installing 11.2.0.3 incorrectly?
We can fall back to the 11.2.0.1 distribution temporarily. But I'd like to get the newest 11.2.0.3 distribution working for our XP computers.
    Thank you for your assistance.
    Griffith

    Hi,
I've no idea about the reason but I can confirm that the latest Instant Client Version is not supported by XP.
    I've tried a win7 install and evrything works fine with 11.2.0.3.0 version;
on XP I need to use 11.2.0.1.0 version.

  • How to install Ant in Windows XP

Er, what do I do? I've downloaded the binary distribution from Apache; where do I put it so it will work from the command line?

You installed the JDK at some point, did you not? You
should have added to the "path" environment variable
when you did that as well - otherwise it's kinda hard
to run "javac" and "java" command-line tools. When I installed the JDK, I saw nothing but an executable file on my desktop that installed the JDK to a Java directory in my Program Files. There were never any questions asked beyond whether or not I wanted to accept the license and where I wanted to put it. I hadn't tried to run a javac command until just now, when I tried to do so to see if that was taken care of automatically; it was not, and javac is not a recognized command. What do I do?

  • Selecting Distribution Rule in any Transaction

When generating journal entry I want to input distribution rule in the row. Now while clicking 'Choose from list' button in 'Distribution Rule' field system pops up an window to select the appropriate rule. But in choose from list window in 'distribution code' drop down list shows only the code of the rule and not the description for which user finds trouble to select the appropritae rule e.g. when attaching employee system shows only employee code in the distribution code. Now let us know how to bring the description of the ditribution rule along side the code in this drop down list.

    hi
for the employee code, use the actual Employee code as distribution code which will help the user to identify easily

  • Bdb xml & python api

I've been experiencing problems trying to build the python api library against python 2.5 on a PC running Redhat Entrprise Linux 4 using dbxml-2.3.10.
If I run the following against python 2.3 I get no problems, and files _dbxml.so + dbxml.pyc are correctly created in /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages. Output being as follows:

Initially when I ran again python 2.5 I got the following:

I think the bit about creation of _dbxml.so + dbxml.pyc at 2.3 and not 2.5 was probably a red herring; when I deleted these files and re-ran the 2.3 build they were not recreated in /usr/lib/python2.3.
However, can you confirm that the build has done what it should, and if so, are files from the build directory copied ( do they need to be copied elsewhere) in order for the python api library to work correctly? Perhaps I have missed a keyword in the build?

  • How to remove Flash Player from Windows 2012 R2?

We don't use any of our server to navigate websites and we don't install any third party softwares. Windows 2012 R2 comes with flash player which we don't need and we definitely wanna remove that software. How can I remove it?

A little more information to possibly close this out.
The patch you are wondering about - 2942844 - was superceded by 2755801 on May 13.  Since my tests were after that, they would be getting the new patch and not the old patch.  Evidently the new patch did not contain 'Adobe Flash' in the title.
Furthermore, what the patch is doing is patching Adobe Flash libraries used by Internet Explorer.  It it not patching an installation of Adobe Flash.  Those libraries are part of the Windows distribution to allow for use of Adobe Flash by the browser
without the need to install Flash on the system.
Ergo, Adobe Flash, as stated from the beginning, is not part of the Windows Server distribution.  But there are libraries that Adobe provides in the distribution.
In the future, if you have questions about what's happening, Microsoft documents every patch in pretty minute detail.  My bad for not looking at the detailed information in the first place.  To look up any security advisory with the detailed information,
    modify this URL -
https://technet.microsoft.com/library/security/2755801 - replacing the seven digits at the end with the KB number.

  • Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860

After restart is Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860 update will resume ?

    Hi,
From my observation, if I click download now, it would create a BITS task:
We can use following command to check:
    Import-module bitstransfer
    Get-bitstransfer –allusers
From the output, we can see the system account created a BITS job for transferring, under the C:\Windows\Software Distribution\download, we can get the temporary downloaded file, which is approximately about 2.5G.
After we restart, and go to C:\Windows\Software Distribution\download, the temporary file is gone.
If I click the download again, the BITS would create a new task, a new temporary file, if we compare the JobIds of the two times downloading, they are totally different.
