Hopefully it brings the issues we have with Skype for Linux to someone's attention. Alternatively, they might just delete my posts and ban me.

Q&A with the team behind Skype for Android

Skype for Android is one of our most widely used mobile products. Over five hundred million installations of the app have taken place from the Play Store, so it has a lot of fans out there. That’s why the Skype Community wants to connect you with the people who make Skype for Android happen.
If you have questions about how the app works, what the team are working on at the moment, or what their favourite sandwich topping is, you’ll get a chance to ask them at our #SkypeFeedback live event.

I downloaded Skype for Android. The application dosen't show anywere. How can I start Skype?

It is indeed almost beyond belief that a company with the resources Microsoft has, has managed to release an app for production use which:
-Cannot be turned off (the point of your post). I'm seeing this as well. If I choose to "sign out", I will anyway be bothered with notifications and new messages again after about 10-15 minutes. It seems to run as a service in the background of the phone, and auto-signin if offline.
-Has the pretty much extremely serious bug of that the caller with some easy actions can lift the receiver on the called end, thereby enabling eavesdropping.
Even though these probably are unintentional "features", it's the kind of stuff you would expect to see in highly malicious spyware or viruses: sneaky application background persistence plus eavesdropping, not a funny mix. Very scary.

Skype for Android comes back after log out

I'll try this message again because apparently the first time I wrote it it just went into the ether of the internet. Recently Skype on my S4 has been logging back in and starting up after I've logged out even after I've forced closed the app. Previously when I closed the app by signing out it would completely get out of skype. If this behavior continues I will make sure that I make my company and friends leave skype and Lync (since they are becoming the same thing). This is on top of the terrible redesign of the desktop app that you pretended to listen to feedback on but after over 80 pages of feedback, decided not to listen to at all. Please don't present this as a "feature" or say that you can solve the problem by turning off "Sign in automatically" and "turning off notificiations." I want those things to remain as I don't want to have to enter my password each time I use the app and I would like the notifications when in use. And turning them on and off each time is the mark of a terrible interface. If this is some sort of feature, it needs to be made separate and made sure that Skype doesn't autorun when turning on your phone. I should mention that some of these have been notifications in the middle of the night, so it not only can affect ones sleep, it can cause additional communication problems with people thinking they are online when they truly are not. Definitely not something you want in a business or personal atmosphere. Skype for Android even with it's new notifications is still a terrible battery hog, with no option to change the now strange formatting and call button is in a place that results in a lot of unintentional calls because it's by where the touch keyboard is instead of at the top like it was previously. There is no reason that Skype should come back after being forced closed, but it should not have to get to that point. Please fix ASAP. This does explain some of the terrible battery life I've been experiencing lately.

THERE IS A WORKAROUND FOR THIS VERY ANNOYING AND BAD BEHAVIOUR I also have experienced this problem on S4mini, SII and other Android devices running all sorts of versions of AOSP. You are all correct that this should not happen (signout should == signout) but if you don't want to reboot you Android all the time then do the following (instructions for A 4.4.2 Kitkat on Samsung running TouchWiz but similar to other devices)0. Signout of SKYPE1. SETTINGS2. MORE ...3. APPLICATION MANAGER4. RUNNINGYou should find a SKYPE process; select it and STOP (ignoring any warnings). Voila, no more zombie SKYPE Worring things include being online and woken in the middle of the night - but more so is that the running process is VIDEOMONITOR - now why would MSFT want to leave that running???

I accidently sent Video Message from my Android mobile (Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini)
Now i wanto Delete that Video Message, But i cant delete it. Please help I tried following methods:
Settings > Applications > Applications > Skype > Delete data & Cache Data
Uninstalled Skype
It Doesn't work please help. I tried both methods twice

Skype for android still not working

Since nearly to months now skype for android is not working on my phone. Reinstalling and uninstalling and then reinstalling does not help. Erasing and cleaning up eather.
It seems that the skype account is not being accepted on the phone . any sugestions?

Long hold on the Skype installation item in the Store application and select "Cancel". Then move to your phone's application list, find Skype there and select "Uninstall".
After that reboot your phone and install from the Store again.

Sound delay with air for android

Hi,
I am building a game with air for android, all work just perfect but I have just little problem with the sfx.
When I play sound I have 500 millisecond delay.
I tried to use wav format instead of mp3 and its help a bit but still there is a big delay.
Any ideas?

First, never use the nativePath property of File.applicationDirectory (as the example does). This isn't supported on Android. You get an empty string. While you could usually bypass the write-restrictions on te application directory using this technique on the desktop, it definitely does not work on Android. Always use URLs rether than native paths to refer to application files.
What you should do is create the database in the applicationStorage directory. You could do this with SQL, or by coping a "template" database file that you packaged with the application from the application directory o the application storage directory (using the URL not the native path, of course.)

Any chance for the "away" and "busy" statuses to make it back into Skype for Android?

I recently realized that the new (well new as of early July) Skype for Android is missing the "away" and "busy" statuses (and perhaps some other one as well). I've seen other users around this forum mentioning the same thing, but it's unclear to me whether this was done intentionally or not. Are there any chances for these statuses to be added back? And if not what has been reasoning behind the decision of taking them out? - Adriano

The worst about it is, that you aren’t even able to see the real status of your contacts: Contacts who have their status set to “away” are shown as online. Contacts who have it set to “busy” are shown as offline. (Which is even worse…)This simply can’t be intentional. Also.. It's been possible in older skype versions for android, it's also possible on ios.. So where is the need to get rid of the busy/away status in the new android version?

when will skype for android allow me to host a group call? I know when using skype on a mobile device, I can join and participate in group calls but I cannot host one. Just wondering if that will ever be enabled for mobile device users?

Skype for android messes with pc client status

I have skype for windows and on android phone. When I set do not disturb on pc after some time do not disturb is gone and status is online... this happens even faster when I open skype on mobile...
any ideas? seems that this problem accoured only recently because till now all was fine.
Here's a short list of items that could really assist the team troubleshoot issues:
DeviceMaker - LG
Device Name - D821
Device Model - Nexus 5
Android OS version - stock version 4.4.4
Network (mobile carrier or wifi) - both
Skype client version installed - 5.0.0.52727
- windows 7 X64
- skype v. 6.21.32.104

Bump, as this is a problem for me as well. I'd much prefer to be set to a Do Not Disturb status all the time, allowing me to contact who I want when I want.

Need Help with Skype for Business!

I purchased the Skype for business for an entire year. Now, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to log in. Do I have to link it to original skype? I am new to this and have no knowledge of the formats of Skype or it for business.

A few questions for you to clarify the Skype product you are working with, so we can send you in the right direction in an effort to resolve the problem:
Are you referring to either Skype Manager, or Skype Connect? Do you recall what "business" product you have?
Or, what are you trying to sign in to? A Skype account via the Skype website, or the software itself?

How do I disable the tab with 'Firefox for Android' advertisement ? It is freaking me out

Every time I open the Firefox browser, a new tab opens up with the ad suggesting me to try Firefox for android mobile. This is additional tab along with my regular home tab. My browser version is Firefox funnel cake 22.0 . It is freaking me out as this happens every time I open the browser. Provide me a solution or tell me to switch to a different browser. I mean who is the dumb idiot who suggested this idea ? Really ?? you want the add to stay there and irritate users everytime they open it ?

Try to change your new tab by going to about:config, and in that address bar type in browser.newtab.url, right click it, and then hit modify. There will be a window that pops up that will let you type in the address you want to show up in your new tabs. There also might be a warning when going to about:config, but just accept it if it's there.
