Q: Bi Statistics, DataManager time = 0?
Hi Experts,
We are currently analyzing our query performance using BI Statistcs (Bi7.0, SPS12). We are having problems fully understanding the values in the InfoCube 0TCT_C01.
We have made a custom query and drill down on query step. When looking at this result, if the "counter for queries" key figure (0TCTQUCOUNT) is 0, then we assume this means that it is an open or close of a query, and if the "counter for queries" = 1, then it is a data fetch (i.e. initial load of query, drill down or filtering).
If the above is correct, then if "counter for queries" = 1 and "Time DataManager" (0TCTTIMEDM) = 0, then we assume that this means a cached navigation. This does however seem a bit strange, since that would mean that almost all of our navigations are cached.
Does anybody have a good explanation to what the char & key figures mean? I have looked at the documentation at help.sap.com (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/46/f9bd5b0d40537de10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm) but I find this rather useless.

We have found that "counter for queries" = 1 and "Time DataManager" (0TCTTIMEDM) = 0 could also mean that the user has performed a filtering.
I.e. this combination could mean either cached navigation OR filter. I have checked all key figures and characteristics in the MultiProvider, and it does not seem as there is any way to separate these two, which then makes it impossible to find out how many cached navigations are performed.
Does anybody have any idea?

I have run the Run Time Query in Bw Statistics to get information about the time spent by queries on particular infocube (overall time, initialization time, database time etc).

When it says Time, Read on the Database is 0 then where is it getting the information from. Its a transaction query so it should get the data from the cube (does not have any aggregates).
The Master and text Read time is 1554.248 which means it has spent that much time reading master and text data.
Most of the time spent is on OLAP processor. Can any one give me more insight on what a query does in OLAP processor.
Also what does it mean when it says 0 records selected or transferred from database. I mean the query has to get data from somewhere. If not from database (Cube) where is it getting the data from?Hi
OLAP Memory will be in the Application server usually.
But with the reporting Agent settings you can fill OLAP Cache Per user also or based on the Role also.
Did you test your report with RSRT
Use execute +debug and select BW Statistics optio,.
Check the execution time.
Again Execute and cchek the DB time it will be 0 but the first time it will show you some value.
Now again execute with execute and debug option this time select the option do not use cache , now you can see the difference

BW Statistics (Query-Time; time for masterdata reading)
Hello,
with BW 3.5 it is possible to see the time for the reading of masterdata in Transaction RSRT (RSRT--> Execute+Debug --> DisplayStatistic data).
This Information was under the colum TIMECHAVLREAD.
With BW 7.0 this column not exist.
Where I can see this information??

MuratI was looking for the same KFs, but did not find anything meaningful in ST03N as well.
But I would recommend to execute the Web Report (from WAD or from Portal, if you are using Enterprise Portal) and then look at table view RSDDSTAT_OLAP. In this table view, BW Statistic data for each step is saved on event level. So if you execute the Web Report, you will find entries for the step corresponding to displaying the selection screen and for the step of generating the Web Report after the selection screen. The column RUNTIME displays the runtime of each step, which is a good indicator for the average runtime KFs you want to have.
Maybe there are more meaningful KFs in technical BI Content, but I did not find them yet. -
C100 / Export statistics wrong time-period / Howto change?
If we have a look at the "Monitor, Internal Users" we can change the time range from "day" to "week" to "month".
If we want to export the same displayed time range as CSV for Excel, we don't get the same period... :oops:

I dot not see an official statement that this particular issue was singled out for inclusion in a new release. That being said, any reporting issues resolved in this (or intermediate point versions not publically released ) could most definitely overlap the issue and allow the export to work properly.

Need SCA components instance-wise statistics (processing time etc.)?
Hi,
Is there any way to gather information (processing time, start time, end time etc.) on individual sca component instances by accessing weblogic MBean through java API?
Please note that, Oracle WebLogic System MBean Browser provides avg processing time, max time and min time for all instances, but we need individual instance processing time.
However, we can manipulate OFM Infrastructure Management Java API to get those information from SOA Infra DB, but instead of doing that, can we get the same using mbean api? It will help in minimizing coding effort.

In Stad if we see Processing time is much higher than the CPU time,
there may be some lost time.
You can confirm this lost time as follows:
Perform ST05 or ST12 trace for any particular transaction and you can
see the Detialed trace list. Search for the particular time stamp
for which STAD has been opened in the detailed trace list.
Difference between the two consecutive time stamps should be equal to the
value in the duration column. If this is not equal, means some lost time
is there.
Inorder to find where this lost time has occured, go to the transaction
SQLR and for the same time and date( which you entered in STAD). If you click on the
Summary tab, then you can see the SQL Trace Records with Longest Non-Database Times (Gaps).
You can tune the programs listed in this table.
Note: STAD and SQLR data won't be available for more that 24 hours, so better have the data copied in HTML format.
There may be some kernel bug also for this difference in the CPU and processing time. But as per your message, other application servers are fine.
If you need any help kindly attach trace files and stad record files to this message so that will try to figure out the exact problem.
Please dont forget to check the kernel level of your system before performing the ST05 trace.
For 700 release minimum patch level should be 145
For 640 release minimum patch level should be 193.
If your system kernel patch is not updated, kindly update it and do the trace to avoid system crash.

BW Statistics Cube is not Getting Data
Hi All,
I have installed BW statistics first time and every thing goes fine , it activated succesfully.
But when i checking in the indivisually in every cube, not getting any request, as well as none of the Technical contained query giving Out put,
But I can trace it in the ST03.
So please let me know where i made mistake during installation of BW statistics.

You can do the Init manually this way you will also see if the data load is working or not...and in the process chain infopackage include it for delta laod.
The frequency of the data load for stat cube depends on your systems and how much the accuracy the users wants from the RSDDSTAT* table. We have the process chain to load the stat cube on weekly basis...this should be enough.
Assign the points if these answers helps.

Precalculated Web Template Usage Statistics
Does anyone know if there are usage statistics stored for a web template that has been precalculated (HTML) through reporting agent? It is accessed through a URL with the DATA_MODE=STATIC querystring parameter added. The statistics are stored in RSDDSTAT when the reporting agent job runs, but not when a user requests the precalculated web template through the URL directly in a web browser. Are the usage statistics stored in another location, other than the RSDDSTAT table in this situation?

We had the same problem and sorted out it but don´t using BW standard functionality. I added a image tag on all web template that reference to a .Net application. This application get Windows user from Internet Explorer and store statistics (user, time, webtemplate, filter options, etc) on a SQL Server Database. I don't finish the application frontend but we are getting good information directly of the database.

Oncard applet execution time (write operation)
My Java card applet store on Java card blocks with length 192 bytes (just byte arrays) without encryption . Total block count is 200. All blocks are allocated before with operator new. Off-card application could write at once any block count to card. For example it could write 10 blocks, and in this case there are required 10 calls to applet.
There is some statistics of time, which is required to write different count of such blocks:

153 74 0.48What could be the reason why more calls take more time? May be it is some Java Card features?
p.s. In case of read operation time is approximately the same for any call countIt is an storage architecture question. How would you store byte arrays belonging to an object, using C or Assembler? One possible way could be for instance to use linked lists --> when the amount of byte arrays increases, the pointer has to run longer distances to reach the end or the insertion point in the linked list. That could explain why the average time increases. I do not know how the storage mechanism is implemented in the smart card OS you are using. Java Card is not an architecture specification, so there is nothing mentioned how to implement the storage mechanism. There is a reference implementation in the Java Card Kit though, maybe you can find more hints there.

You may increase their number if you have enough memory .

Goto - > Statistics

Less than 1 second is the recommended , though sometimes you may breach it .

There are many standard applications for statistical system data like:
- ST03N: General system statistics (response times,
- ST06: OS monitor and statistics
- ST04: DB monitor and statistics
- SPAD: Printing statistics
- You can also configure a log file for webaccess statistics (see the document mentioned by Eddy above)
- and so on, and so on...

BIA question...
Hi,
I have activated the BIA index for some of our cubes for our testing purpose. Now if BIA is active for a cube the query first checkes if data for report is available in OLAP, then it check if BIA is active for this cube and at last it reads from Cube if both are not available.
How can I make sure that the query has used BIA index?
Is there is any table where it writes a staistics information?
Please let me know if anybody has any idea about this.

since all queries read the data from the BIA - if the BIA index is active for this InfoCube, there is no "real" need to check it.
But if you neverthelesse want to check it, you should go to the Query runtime statistic tables or the appropriate technical content.
The mentioned table RSDDSTATTREX holds the statistics for the BIA-index fill times, not the queries.
The table RSDDSTAT is no longer valid for the query/OLAP statistics. The new statistics information can be found in the tables/views:
- RSDDSTAT_OLAP for all Frontend and OLAP times, and
- RSDDSTAT_DM for all Datamanager times, i.e. the data read access times, either on the DB, the BIA, or a remote system if you use a virtual InfoProvider.
If you then execute a query, that reads data from the BIA server, go to SE16 and get the STEPUID of your query execution in table RSDDSTAT_OLAP. With this STEPUID you can select in table RSDDSTAT_DM the corresponding entries of the read access. Now in these rows you find in the column "aggregate" the entry <InfoCubename>$T if the data was read from the BIA server (techn. name of the BIA index). If the data was read from an aggregate you find the technical name of the aggregate, somthing like 1000xx there, or the name of the InfoCube.
Btw: make sure that you have turned on the statistics for the InfoProvider or the Query and have set the correct detail level(transaction RSDDSTAT) otherwise you will not see what you want.
You can also use transaction RSRT1 and the debug-option "show statistics". After you see the query result, press F3 and you see two Tabs with the OLAP/FE and the Datamanager statistics.
Of course you can do the whole analysis much easier using the technical content for the query runtime statistics, but this here can be used as a quick check.

ORA 04030 Out of process memory error
Dear experts,
I know there are multiple discussions around this error and I have been reading through most of them in the past one week or so, but looks like we are running out of options or are missing the color altogether. Ok, we are getting ORA-04030 - out of process memory while allocating....while one of our batch process runs in the night. It simply tries to insert/update to a table. Our installation is 11.2.0.1.0 with no RAC configuration and on 64-bit AIX having 6 cores, 12 CPUs and 16 GB memory.
We have checked the Workarea_Size_Policy is set to be as Auto so Oracle decides how much memory to allocate to PGA automatically on run-time based on the demand. And based on the AWR report it doesnt look like we are anywhere near the country having a PGA-deficit!! I am attaching the AWR report in a word document here for your reference.
Also attached below are the configurations and the ulimit values.

If you want to see the full report, please email me at [email protected]Unless your database is strictly a DSS-type of database, your AWR report exposes loads of issues with it. And I think none of the time during the AWR window was spent on database. Look at the DB time (with all those multi cores) compared with the elapsed time of the AWR.
As you are on 11g, why not make use of MEMORY_TARGET (a single parameter to manage both SGA and PGA)? If you are already on it, ignore this as I can't see it anywhere. If not, get rid of SGA_TARGET and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET and replace it with a single MEMORY_TARGET parameter. However you may have a minimum threshold set for different SGA pools so that they won't shrink beyond that point.
Having said that, setting MEMORY_TARGET is not a guarantee to avoid ORA-4030. Just a single bad PL/SQL code could go and exploit the untunable part of your process memory and even go and blow up the physical memory. If you are using FORALL and BULK load, see if you can cut it down into few chunks rather than running as a single process.
