Q. eding rolling text/titles

I thought I posted this already, but I
can't find it.. so here goes again.
I created rolling text/titles in white on a darkened
screen as the audio played in the background.
Each set of text frams appeared for a few seconds,
then was replaced by the next set of text.
All good so far.
Now, I have to edit one of the text panels.
I can isolate the inital frame, click EDIT,
but can;t seem to highlight or delete the
offensive line of text.
I'm stuck.
I'm using Element 9

Another idea: with the CTI over the clip you want to edit (i.e. text is visible in the playback monitor) right click in the monitor panel, then pick Select, then the item you want to edit. At that point double-clicking in the monitor window should edit the text.

Hi,
please don't double post and instead continue with your original threat. In the previous post you got the correct answer to use skinning. You did not like the solution as it doesn't allow per-instance titles. I agree with this and a logical consequence is to file an enhancement request instead of re-posting the question. I'll file the ER, so no need to follow up for you anymore

How can I enter special characters in a text title?

Hello to all!
Have been trying to get in a special character [the tick mark] onto a text title on my current project. Had gone to the special character option under EDIT menu, and added the desired special character to the 'favourite' list, but after that I do not know how to move ahead. Would like help.

However I am afraid that neither double click nor drag/drop is adding the character to the text.
Is there any other method to get special characters into FCPX?

LiveType Credit Roll Text Blurry Shaking in DVD Studio Pro Completed SD

I first created text scrolling directly from inside FCP. The texts appear shaking/blurry in the exported MOV. After trying different font family/size but still getting the same bad result, I did more research. I then created the credit roll in LiveType, imported that into FCP. This time, the exported finished MOV looks great on computer. I thought this is the right fix but after I got everything done in DVD Studio Pro and burned a SD to test on my 50" screen SONY, the credit roll part is again shaking and blurry!! This really drove me nuts!! Well, other texts that I created both in FCP and LiveType appear just fine!! I am trying to export the credit roll texts part as self-contained mov then import back to FCP but really suspect this will fix the problem.
That part of rolling credit texts were shaking in DVD Pro simulation but I thought that's only becuase it was not the final product. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
p.s. I spent the past few hours googling and tried different methods but still had no luck...:(

Ok...I just export a MOV with ONLY the credit roll encoded using QuickTime conversion, change the compression type to Uncompressed 8-Bit 4:2:2 which was supposed to retain the graphic/text quality better than normal setting. The completed credit roll still look shaking, however. It's white text on black, yeah I know not the best combo but there must be a way to get the text to not shake/blur...no?
Please help, if anyone could.

Using Trailer text "Titles" in other imovie projects?

The various trailers in the new imovie 11 are great, but I can't seem to utilize the text / titles specific to those trailers on any of my other projects? Is there a trick to pulling it off? Same thing with the music in the trailers, can't seem to apply it to / access within any other projects in imovie ....

There is a better way to use the "Animatics" used in iMovie's trailers. Unfortunately, Apple didn't consider that more text may be need in a trailer as there is currently no command or native function to create new text using the same title effects used in iMovie's trailers. Fortunately, after a short search on the net, I found this:

PE7 - stop video from running after rendering text titles

Hi gang,
When I add manual "sub-titles" aka text titles to my videos, it works best when I render them as I'm going along with the ENTER key. That's fine but the video then wants to KEEP start playing from the start and that's driving me bananas. Can I turn this off?

Indeed, I would never want the video to playback automatically after rendering.
In PE7, it was exactly where you mentioned.
BTW - rearranging menus is part of the neverending game, that drives us all constant upgraders completey bonkers!!! Just like how AVI export dissappeared and reappeared into SHARE in PE 7. What a nomad! hehe

Entering black space for text titles

Hello
Is there a way for me to enter black space so I can extend the length of my text titles? I would like to add text at the beginning of a clip, but can only get the black space by entering a "fade in video." Thank you Avo

With FF 2.0.0.7 and Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) on a Mac, Il have a
bad positioning of an h2 text title its <dv> container,
itself above another <dv> element.
The option "no superposition" is not marked.

I think you will need to show us your code. Can you?

Cursor not stopping rolling text when pointed at it

Unable to stop rolling text when cursor pointed at it. This works ok on other browsers. By using the reset with the disabling or enabling any add on the scrolling text will stop with the cursor as it should, but once you close Firefox and return it stops working.Same when computer is restarted or shut down. I have tried using the Firefox restart with add ons disabled and also uninstalled Firefox 27.0.1 and reinstalled with no success. The operating system is Mac osx Mavericks.

Premiere Elements 13 , Problems with new text/titles

Premiere Elements 13, bisher keine Probleme. Nachdem die Filmlänge etwa 15 Minuten beträgt immer größere Probleme Titel/texte einzugeben. Wartezeiten sind extrem lange oder Programm stürzt ganz ab.

High ATR,
Computer running on Widows 7 ,64 Bit System, Service Pack 1, Processor AMD Phenom(tm) X4 945 3.00 Ghz;RAM 8 GB
Grafikkarte: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
If the video on the timeline is longer than 10 minutes the problem will be remarkable. The response times adding a title is getting longer(2-15 seconds).
As the video is now 18 minutes the response time is after each action(resizing of letters or any changes of the text) up to 30 seconds or the program crashes completely.
Project settings are the following:
General HD 1080i; 29,97frames/second; Video:1920v 1080 H, 30 fps
Video: maximale Bittiefe, Dateiformat i-frame only mpeg, Kompressor MPRG i-Frame, Standbilder optimieren
The video is a mixture of full HD videos 1920x 1080 .mov and pictures up to 4608x3456 pixels.
When the program crashes I remarked that the main memory RAM(8Gb) was fully used by the premiere program. Might there be a problem?

How to make a rolling image title

I want to make a rolling title scene where I can have images that move into the screen quickly then slow or stop at the middle of the screen, with text somewhere on the photo. A new image would come in every couple of seconds and this would repeat. How can I do this?

The titler has roll/crawl option that will let you scroll the typ automatically. For the images, you'll need to animate by hand using the Effects Controls Panels > Motion properties. it can all be done in prPro, but it more typically a job for After Effect with that much animation having to be in sync together.

PE-11 Rolling Text Question

In PE-11, I am trying to adapt Steve's Cool Trick #48 from his "Cool Tricks & Hot Tips" book for an HD (1920x1080) project where the text appears in the middle of the screen and then rolls down wide to bottom of the screen. I am having a hard time recomputing the corner pin properties for the HD screen where the text scrolls down (not up) and does not get inverted. What should the corner pin properties be for the UR, UL, LR, and LL?
I forgot to say that Cool Trick #48 is the "Star Wars" style rolling title that starts wide at the bottom of the screen and then scrolls up and "disappears in the distance" in the upper-third of the screen.

Hi Steve - thank you for the reply. I am using HD 1920x1080. The effect that I am trying to create is text appearing (small) in the middle of the screen and then rolling out to wide to the bottom of the screen so that it appears as if you are flying over the text as if it is appearing in the distance and rolling to you (somewhat like the star gate effect in the movie "2001" when Dave goes through the monolith and text and math symbols are scrolling by him). Is there a trick to make the text scroll in that fashion?
The text will be a series of one-liners with blank space between each of the lines, it will not be paragraphs. The reader will not get dyslexia while viewing the video
BTW - I use both of your PE books - Guide and Cool Tricks - they are very useful.

Text / Titles Get Cut Off After 3 Lines?

I did some searching but couldn't find a discussion on this. When I add a Title of any kind and try to fill it with more words that fit on the screen (in vertical space) it just cuts them off at the bottom. I've attached an image that shows the third "wednesdays" text in my project and you can see it cuts off the bottom of the Y. If I add a fourth "wednesdays" you don't see it at all. Using the transform tool only stretches the text, it doesn't increase the vertical space available for more text. I am running Lion if it matters.
Has anyone found a fix for adding more vertical space for text or is this a known bug? Or am I missing something really easy?

You should turn on the TV Safe Area and make sure that everything that you care about is within this area. Anything outside the area is subject to the over-scan of TV sets.

Dynamic text (Titles/Section titles)

Hi,
I'm diving into Keynote for the first time and am struggling with trying to figure out how to create dynamic text within my masters.
I'd like to be able to have the user enter the title of the presentation on their title slide (using the title master) and then have that title propagate through the other slides in the footer of the section/content slides as meta data.
Is there a solution for how to do this? Essentially, I just need to flag the text box with a variable and then repurpose that variable in a differently styled text box on other slides.

Keynote and PowerPoint are both presentation packages; however, they're not identical, and offer different feature sets. If you can't live without a feature that PPT offers but Keynote doesn't, use PPT. However, in my experience most of the things that PPT will do can be done in Keynote - it's just a matter of figuring out how.
I've been using Keynote (various versions) for several years, after having used PPT for several years. Yes, I've found things that Keynote didn't do that I was used to being able to do in PPT, but the only one that I couldn't find a workaround for was motion-path animation, and it appeared as a Build option ("Action") in Keynote '08.
If there is a feature you would like to see in Keynote, you can always use the "Provide Keynote Feedback" link in the "Keynote" menu to send you ideas to Apple. There's no guarantee that your feature will appear, but that's the way to let Apple know that you would like to see something changed.
As for your original problem, one simple way to propogate the title information in the footers of the other slides is to add a small text box to the master(s) used for the other slides and copy the title into it. No, it's not automatic, and if you change the title you must also change the text box on the master(s), but it's a workaround.
There is definitely a non-flat learning curve associated with the transition from PPT to Keynote, but once you pick up some familiarity with Keynote, you may find it's much more intuitive to use.

How can I paste an image into a text/title box?

Hi,
I am putting together a 'memories' video using the 'Photo Album' theme in iMovie 11. What I want to do is insert some titles along the way (photo album type), have text above (no problem) with a still image in the box below. However, when I try to drop the image on the title box (on the timeline) it plays about 1-2 seconds of the still before it merges into the titles frame. I want it to merge/play instantly. It doesn't seem to matter whether I place the image directly on top of the title, before it or after. Any ideas?
