Q: getting Compass server without iPortal?

Hi!
we are currently using Netscape Enterprise Server 3.63 with Compass
Server 3.01. we are upgrading NES to iPlanet Web Server 4, but we're not
sure what to do with Compass. we only need the searching functionality
of Compass, so we don't need the whole iPlanet suite. would someone
please explain the situation to us?

Compass itself uses Verity, quote "Searching. Part of iPlanet Compass
Server is a Verity search engine". so should we be just get Verity
instead of the whole iPortal suite, or can we just get Compass Server

surfing around Verity's website, i couldn't find any clear product
information either. ie a product that clearly replaces Compass 3.01.
what should we do? please advice.
if we have to get both iWS and iPortal, which versions should we get? ie
which versions are compatible with which? we're migrating to iWS 4.1 SP2.

one that came in the box that someone ordered recently was 4.0 sp 2.
or is there a downloadable upgrade that goes with the 4.0 sp 2 media
that will upgrade it to 4.1 sp X?

NetStorage server without eDirectory installed on Linux OES2-SP2

Hello Forums
I was wondering if NetStorage can be working on a Single
SLES10-SP3/OES2-SP2, server without actually having eDirectory on the
server itself but pointing the NetStorage configuration to any server
holding a R/W replica of eDirectory, by this making the NetStorage
easier to move to e.g. DMZ, e.t.c, or just making it a simpler setup for
the NetStorage.
I have tried this with 2 servers, one server with eDir installed and one
where only NetStorage is "ticked" under the OES Install and Configuration.
I can get as far as getting the login page up byt aint able to authenticate.
for the Certificate i took the pem file from the server i points to and
place in the /etc/ssl/servercerts/xxx.pem
Well i think i read sometime this was possible without eDirectory
actually on the NetStroage server, could be i'm Wrong.
Any ideas on this would be great.

Any OES2 server HAS to have eDirectory on it (that I'm aware of to function properly). However, you may be asking the question in the wrong way. Not sure how you'd login to iManager on the OES2 server to manage NetStorage if the eDir database isn't on there.
You MAY be wanting to know if the OES2 server needs an eDirectory REPLICA on it (there's a big difference).
If that's what you REALLY are asking, then the answer is:
No, you do not need an eDir replica on the server that runs NetStorage. In fact, you could even put the NetStorage server into its own tree if you had to (it's a little more complex to setup at that point, but it CAN be done).

Use share located at server without SCCM roles

The scenario is the following: sccm 2012 R2.
2 servers: first one is the server where sccm was installed and is DP too. Second server only is DP.
I need to deploy aditional software which source files are located at third server (without sccm roles).
Problem: When creating additional packages, I use a share located at the third server, and distribute the content to the second server (only DP role), but the package never distribute to the DP (in the sccm console I get an
error).
The question is:
It is possible to use source files located at a server without sccm roles?

Source file access by the site server has nothing to do with the network access account.
Yes, the computer account for the site server must have access to the UNC where the source files are located -- both NTFS and share permissions (as Jörgen mentioned) There's no need to make it a local admin.
Note that the location of the source files has nothing to do with where the clients get those files from; clients always get source files from DPs.

Is there any way to restart Agentry Server without restarting SMP3.0 server?

Is there anyway to restart Agentry server, without restarting SMP server? I want to modify the setting of Agentry app and restart the Agentry to make change effective. Each time I restart Agentry, I have to restart the SMP3.0. It is very inconvenient.
Please assist me on this issue. Thank you very much.

That is something I believe they are working on for the next SP release (along with multiple Agentry apps on the same SMP 3 server). I don't know if there is an offical way to do this but will see if I can get any answer.

SCCM 2012 MP - Site Database Server Without Valid Certificate fail

When we just imported the 2012 Management Pack we cant get this monitor back to green state:
Site Database Server Without Valid Certificate (Database Certificate Validity Monitor)
But we have a valid Certificate, so i dont know what this monitor reacts on.

Automator not saving server's name in "Get Specific Server" action

I just upgraded to Lion and realized that the Automator actions that used to work with Snow Leopard are no longer working.
I created an automation application and put it in the "log in item" to mount servers when I started the computer.
With Lion, I could not save the specified smb://* address in the action. Although I could run and test it in the automator, the specified smb://* would be gone when I reopened the application in Automator.
Strangely enough, one of the similar Automator applications was able to retain the two smb://* addresses when I open the application in Automator. This application was created in my prior Snow Leopard machine. However this application will not let me save any new smb://* in addition to the two.
Any idea what is happening?

To address original bug in Automator ...
1. Create/ update your mount application in Automator (add URL's for servers/ drives to mount) - save version
2. Open/ view the package contents of this new application/ version (via right click context menu of application > 'Show Package Contents')
3. Manually edit the document.wflow file (within the contents folder of the opened package) with TextEdit (via context menu of document.wflow file > 'Open with'), adding bold/ italic entries as per below for relevant mount points where the information is missing..

FormMail / Sendmail on server without mail?

For some reason I cannot use FormMail.pl from a server without mail services running. It is a barebones server used to serve a single website driven by Filemaker. PHP5 is installed. A form on the website will send mail if I reference the script in cgi-bin on another server with mail running, but it will not send if the script is located on its own server.
As I say it's a minimal setup -- is there a service or configuration I need to get running in order for the script to work?

Olivia, hopefully by now you have solved your issue but just for the sake of answering that question here so that people having the same issue can later find it I'll go through the motions:
there are a couple of ways you can achieve this.
A. get a certificate for free out there
B. generate your own self signed "fake" certificate.
certutil will certainly let you do this, here's how:
1. First, create a file/directory layout to store your certificates
mkdir -p /path/to/certificates/selfsignedCA2. Initialize a database for the certificate you want to create
certutil -N -d /path/to/certificates/selfsignedCA -P "ca-"3. Create a self-signed CA certificate
certutil -S -x -n "ca-cert" -s "cn=SelfSigned CA Certificate,dc=yourSuffix" -t CTPu -v 120 -d /path/to/certificates/selfsignedCA -P "ca-" -5Note: when prompted, select choice (5) SSL CA and 'y' for critical extensions
4. Export the your newly created self-signed CA certificate in PEM format

I am unable to get SQL Server Agent to run after installing SQL 2012 Standard with SP1. Log message is as follows:

According to your error message, there might three reasons for this issue.
xplog70.dll is corrupt, you need to check if you have any SQL Server running on same file version and same production
edition. If xplog70.dll is corrupt, you can copy it from the new server where agent is running fine to your problematic server.
Native client not installed properly. If you try applying any latest Service Pack or Cumulative Update then check if the SQL Server Agent can start, if that also doesn’t solve issue then try to reinstalling SQL Server Native client from SQL Server setup
files.

After making sure that all services are up and running, I had to deactive and activate the "SharePoint Server Site Search" web site collection feature. Then the search started working for the time being.
However, it throws the error again after 8 to 9 hours. This has been happening for last couple of weeks. I also came to know from my windows server team that they moved the AD from one place to another. Since then I am having this issue.
The log file has the following error:

Good sound costs money. And with a 5.1 system your usually doing surround sound decoding for BlueRay movies etc. for home theater purposes.
The PC 5.1 surround sound systems require a audio card in a PC tower and mainly used for playing 3D games so that won't work for any Mac at all. So don't buy a PC 5.1 surround sound system for your Mac.
Harmon Kardon has the GoPlay, it's a portable stereo with awesome sound (not as good as their theater systems) and you can hook up a analog male/male stereo mini cable to it from the Mac.
$200 and it has a iPod dock and also takes like 8 batteries so it's portable.

I deleted iPhoto because it was installed under a different Apple ID, now I can't get it back without paying. HELP!!!

Hello. I started work at a new job and am continuously being asked for the previous employees Apple ID for various different reasons. I have sorted out most of the places where his ID was set as defualt, but have run into an issue I can't seem to figure out.
My Mac update notification popped up to lket me know I had some updates ready for downloading. When I clicked it brings me to the App store update screen. From here I selected the updates (iPhoto and iMovie). The only problem is that as soon as I select these and hit update, it brings up a window which instructs me to put in the password for this prior employees ID. Obviously I don't have this and can't get it. The problem here is that the ID name is grayed out and doesn't let you change it to my own. I did some reading in these support community walls and found that the reason for the name being grayed out is because the app that I am trying to update was orginally downloaded by using that ID. It instructed to delete the app from the computer and reinstall...
Here's where I am now and my current problem. I can't reinstall iPhoto or IMovie without paying for them through the App Store. How can I get these back without paying?

Is this your machine or the company's? Machines that came with Snow Leopard or earlier installed come with system and software install disks that can be used to reisntall the iApps that came with the machine orignally.
If this is your machine and it came with Snow Leopard or earlier installed the disk will look slimialr to one of these:
If it is the company's machine see if they have the disks.
Do a custom install and then use Software Update to update iPhoto to the highest version that is available.

2) Type cmd and press enter. A new window will open up.
3) Type "netsh winsock reset"
4) restart the machine and try again
5) Let me know how if it worked.
