Q ? key commands with the new small keyboard ?

Does the new small wireless work properly compared with the extended keyboard with logics default key commands ? Is it just like working with a laptop ? If anyone can help I would appreciate it thanks .

They key commands are the same for the smaller keyboard as they are for the laptop; nothing is different.
If you go to your system's library /Library/Application Support/Logic/Key Commands/ ...
you will see a bunch of different Key Command files with the extension '.logikcs'
You could get yourself a keypad too, I've seen them online and at the Apple store; or, if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you could make that be your keypad; then you can implement using the the 'U.S.logikcs'

  • Removing key caps on the new Apple Keyboard

I'd prefer to rearrange the physical key caps on the new aluminum keyboards, is there a relatively safe way of removing them?

After only a couple of months of use, some of the keys have become really squeaky, and some feel as if the spring is broken so they produce unpleasant sound.
Contact Lenovo about this and ask if they'll replace the keyboard under warranty.
Before you call, pull out the keyboard and write down the FRU number. The procedure for removing/replacing the keyboard is in the Users Guide.
Lenovo buys keyboards from several different manufacturers. When you call Lenovo, give them the FRU number and ask for a replacement from a different manufacturer. The FRU is different for each manufacturer of the same keyboard so by giving them the FRU of your keyboard they can send you a replacement from a different maker.

  • Do Mac Pros come with the new Apple Keyboard?

I know it's kind of a silly question, but I can't find anything that confirms this. Building a Mac Pro in the online store still pictures the previous keyboard, and Apple unfortunately didn't differentiate the names between the products.
Anyone buy a Mac Pro since the keyboard announcement?

ahaha, I got the new wireless keyboard for free shipped expressed overnight, how wonderful. If you order your macpro with wireless keyboard, you can call apple to complaint & they'll send you a new keyboard & you also get to keep the white one too. If they make you send back the keyboard, tell them to send you the usb one.
I love this new keyboard. looks very cute .

  • How many registration keys come with the new Final Cut Studio

Hi I'm thinking of buying the new final cut studio and am trying to find out how many registration keys come with the box. I have 2 others in the family that would use it on their comps as well, and my friend had gotten the previous version of final cut studio 2 (final cut pro 6) and said it came with 3 keys inside, which would be great for me. So I'm just making sure that's true. Thanks.
Also you can bring final cut pro 6 files from another computer onto a computer with final cut pro 7 and still work on them right?

    Hello Gibbs,
    Welcome to the forum.
    Re: your question.
Your friend is a pathological lier (or delusional - sometimes it's hard to tell the difference).
FCP is licensed for one laptop and one desktop as long as:
    1. Both machines are owned by YOU (your inlaws don't count as you)
    and
    2. They are not used at the same time.
If your family wants FCS, time for them to purchase their own copies. (Apple has dropped the price so low that even Junior High School students can afford their own copies now.)
Yes, FCP6 files will open without issue on FCP7. The reverse is not true.
    Have fun.

  • Delay after reboot: any improvements with the new BT Keyboard and mouse?

    Hello all!
I currently have the "old" BT Apple Keyboard connected to a one year old iMac. And of cause it suffers the delay after a reboot or awake of sleep mode. Sometimes it just takes forever till BT Mouse and Keyboard is recognized by the iMac.
Now as I am close to purchase a new iMac, I was wondering whether this mess is somehow fixed.
So, all who already have a new aluminium iMac and a Bluetooth keyboard - is it worth spending the money or will I still find myself in front of the MAC OS X clicking and typing and being full of hope that I finally can start working?
Thx for your experience on that!

    IOGear, Trendware and Startech.
    I'd stick with IOGear.

  • I can not pair my iPad with the new Bluetooth keyboard????

Can someone answer this for me...thanks

No, with Apple devices, life is different.
If you're trying to keep calendars, contacts, notes in sync, consider using iCloud as described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4436
Apps are automatically available to both devices.
You can keep the music in sync by using iTunes Match should you desire, or simply iTunes on your computer.
You can use iTunes on your computer as a repository to sync your devices.

  • Use the new aluminium keyboard on a PC with Windows XP

    Hello all,
That post is describing the problems I have when using the new apple aluminium keyboard on a PC using the windows XP keyboard drivers found on the boot camp CD (1.4)
This is my first post here so please be kind with me
First, let me know in case there is a better section where I should post that post.
I know that what I will ask here may not be a supported scenario. I understand that. But anyway. Here it is.
I am using Windows XP on a PC not a mac computer.
I bought one of the new aluminium keyboards. I love it, it's excellent. I know that the box says it requires mac os X 10.4 and up... I understand al that.
Because it is an USB keyboard, I thought I like it, let's try it on a PC. It worked but the letters on the keyboard are not placed like those on a PC.
Then I tought, why not use the driver for that keyboard provided on the bootcamp CD. I bought the keyboard. I own all my licences, so why not?
First I had a lot of troubles extracting those drivers from the bootcamp CD. I use Transmac for that.
A long story short. It's working and I'm typing that post right now on my cool keyboard.
so why am I here? Because it's not working perfectly.
All the keys are working perfectly, only the companion softwares are not.
I'm unable to launch the bootcamp dashboard, I have the icon in my systray but when I try to open the dashboard I get:
    Boot Camp
An error occurred while trying to access the startup disk settings.
You may not have privileges to change the startup disk. Make sure you have administrative privileges and try again.
    OK
I understand that. I guess this is related to the boot camp dual boot feature.
I guess that if this was working I could access to the bootcamp option panel and eventually have the opportunity to get access to the keyboard options? maybe I'm guessing wrong.
So, what I'm asking here is for the apple developpers working on the windows drivers for the apple hardware.
Do you think that you could test your drivers on PCs ? I'm pretty sure you could sell some more keyboard to the PC peoples as your keyboards are trully excellent.
The 'problems' I have are the following:
    - I cannot lock or unlock the fn key, what I would like to do is use the F7 to F12 keys by default and press the fn key if I ant to access to the scpecial features, like for sound and CD eject
    - kbrd.exe does not always start automaticaly. And when I start it by hand my computer freezes for about ten seconds
    - the keyboard layout should only be changed for the apple keyboard, not for all the keyboards connected to the PC. Because I have two keyboards attached to my computer, my previous pc keyboard and the new apple keyboard. The layout on the PC keyboard is now the same as for the apple keyboard. this is wrong as it renders my previous keyboard useless. why do I need another keyboard? because that other one is cable less, meaning I can use it to control my PC when I'm not in front of it. But now, with the apple keyboard drivers this is not longer possible
    - an option to have to press fn+eject to eject the CD would be nice. this will avoid me pressing eject by accident when I try to press the back delete key
    - also as the drivers exist, why not let people like me download them outside of bootcamp for the kind of scenario I'm describing here?
That would all be very nice.
If you need a tester for that scenario, count on me,
Thank you for your comprehension about me asking such a question
I love that keyboard and do not intend to stop using it,
    John.

    Hello spidermains,
Happy to see that I have a friend in that adventure
Look I have a blog entry here:
    http://www.happytocode.com/post/Can-I-use-the-new-Apple-USB-Aluminium-keyboard-o n-Windows.aspx
That post describes all the steps I followed to extract the drivers from the dual boot camp CD.
I'm using a PC, only a PC. I do not have any Apple computer (yet).
When I mention boot camp, I mean the boot camp CD on one side and the boot camp utilities on the other side. To be more specific the tool I'm talking about is the kbrmgr.exe
That tool sits in the systray and is handling the special keys of the keyboard.
If you have other questions... let me know,
    John.

  • My mission control key does not work with the new Mac update

The key on the keyboard doesnt work, neither does the button on my dock.  Any help?
P.S. is anyone else having as much trouble as I am with the new update?

The pre-2006 Mac models this forum covers cannot run a Mac OS high enough to have Mission Control. If you can identify your Mac to us we can get you moved to a more active forum.

  • Is the new iMac keyboard (small) the same as the one in the new 15" MBP?

Hi, I have an easy question but I couldn't find any information on the Internet. I just bought a 24" iMac and I was willing to buy a skin for the keyboard (I already have an iSkin for my 15" 2008 MacBook Pro and is great). When I opened the box I had the surprise of a smaller keyboard (without the number keypad). So the skin that I was looking to buy for the imac keyboard did not fit in the new one. My question is, if the iMac keyboard is the same as the one in the new 15" MacBook Pro. I ask this because I can't find a skin for the new small imac keyboard and if it is the same as the MacBook Pro I can buy the skin for that keyboard. But before wasting my money I wanted to be sure they are the same.
Thank you very much in advance

That's no news, although it there are other things apart from the layout that could make them different: the spaces between keys and the format of the keys are also important. As I don't have an new MBP I was wondering if someone could tell me if the keyboard of the imac and the one of the MBP are the same.

The problem is with the new operating system  and sending photo via email when used in my iPad.
From photo I selected 3 photos to send via email. I choose the upload key and choose to send by email. Typing text on the email is very slow. This is solved by saving the email as a draft and opening the email again from mail.
Can you amend he system to allow emails to be sent from photo as previously.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • Customizing pronunciation with the new voices (speech synthesis / say command))

    Hi,
I’m trying to use embedded commands with the “say" command to customize the pronunciation of some words (I’m using made-up words so the speech synthesizer does not place the lexical stress where I want it to). I followed the documentation found there: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/userexperience/conceptual/ SpeechSynthesisProgrammingGuide/FineTuning/FineTuning.html . So for instance:
say -v Tom “[[inpt PHON]] gr1AESOWIHN [[inpt TEXT]]”
should produce “grashoing” with stress on the first syllable.
My problem is that it only works with Alex and the original MacinTalk voices, but not with the new voices introduced in Lion (such as Tom and Samantha): they seem to support embedded speech commands (the parts between [[ and ]]), but they pronounce the phonemic representation as a list of letters and numbers (so “jee ar one a ee …”).
Do you know how I can get around this? How do I provide phoneme input with the new voices?

I know I'm a litte late to this party, but after conducting my own tests and then finding this post, I would like to say that it appears Scansoft voices don't respond to Phonemes. I learned this long ago while messing with TextAloud on the PC. They seem to only respond to plain text and alternate spellings unless the 'PRON SYM' is used, but the latter has unpredictable results and I don't know how to do this in on the Mac side. For example, the workaround for that partiular word goes something like this:
say -v Tom “[[inpt PHON]] gra showing [[inpt TEXT]]”
It works when tested in the terminal and sounds like the expected pronunciation after listening to Alex with the phonemes you chose. The breaks in the word are where you'll get emphasis for particular sounds. It is my assumption that you will have to do all edits for these voices in this manner.
Hope this helps for others that stumble upon this post.
I have to admit that I have a gripe about Apple not offering a way to edit pronunciations for Text-to-Speech within the system. The voiceover utility is a seperate entitiy and has no effect on TTS. I have sent feedback to Apple requesting an editor of sorts, and I would like to urge others to do the same.
