Q: Partition offset setting vs displaying

My customer has RHEL systems connected to CLARiiON storage. Per EMC recommendations, they have modified the offset of the partition start to 128 to align with the backend disk blocks. The default offset is 63 if I remember correctly. However, when I look at two different LUNs (one with the 128 offset and one with the default) I get different numbers:
</pre>$ sudo powermt display dev=all | grep Pseudo | egrep 'poweri|powerj' | cut -d= -f2 | awk '{ print "sudo fdisk -l -u /dev/"$1 }' | sh
Disk /dev/emcpoweri: 126.7 GB, 126701535232 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 15403 cylinders, total 247463936 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/emcpoweri1 128 247449194 123724533+ 83 Linux
Disk /dev/emcpowerj: 134.2 GB, 134217728000 bytes
64 heads, 32 sectors/track, 128000 cylinders, total 262144000 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/emcpowerj1 32 262143999 131071984 83 Linux
$</pre>
As you can see the offset for emcpoweri shows the 128 offset that was set in fdisk when it was created. However, when emcpowerj was created it was left to default which should be 63 but it displays 32. So which is it? Is the default 32 but the default for the "b" advanced option 63? Or is fdisk confused?

Using the { c o d e } tag (no spaces) before the first line and after the last line still works.
Or is fdisk confused?If the LUN or partition data changed behind the scenes (while the drive had a partition mounted) any changes won't be recognized until the disk is unused and then mounted again. Fdisk tries to alert you to this with its babble about "still using old table" when you write the modified partition table using its "w" command.
You may want to try to re-read the partition table:
# /sbin/partprobe /path/to/LUN-or-device
# /sbin/partprobe -sThis may help; check using:
# /sbin/fdisk -l /path/to/LUN-or-deviceHWH

    I understand that previous fixes involved setting the adf-config file. I have done this by going into the domain directory... but no joy.

    I had a similar issue, but it was after my application was automatically converted by JDEV from 1.1.1.3.
    Perhaps others have determined how to fix the application and projects after the conversion, but I recreated everything in 1.1.14 and this seems to work.

    Yes. Windows supports external USB drives.

  • Pause / Resume button combination not working when set to display for "rest of project"

    Good day,
    I have created a set of four objects on slide2 of my project
    1. Smart Object rounded rectangle with text "(playing) - CLICK to Pause" [this is the graphic the user sees]
    2. Smart Object rounded rectangle with text "(paused) - CLICK to Resume" [this is the graphic the user sees]
    3. Smart Object rectangle, transparent, used as button, set to not display in project - btn_Resume
    4. Smart Object rectangle, transparent, used as button - btn_Pause
    A. Script assigned to btn_Pause hides btn_Pause and the "CLICK to Pause" graphic, shows the btn_Resume and "CLICK to Resume" graphic, and pauses the project by setting the system pause variable to 1
    B. Script assigned to btn_Resume hides btn_Resume and the "CLICK to Resume" graphic, shows the btn_Pause and "CLICK to Pause" graphic, and resumes the project by setting the system resume variable to 1
    C. All items are set to display from the beginning of slide2 for the "rest of project"
    On slide 2, the buttons hide/show and pause/resume behaviors work correctly.
    On slide 3, the correct initial button and graphic appears, and the click sound works when clicked, but no behaviors (show/hide/pause) occur until a good amount of time into the slide: you can click all you want for 20-30 seconds, but nothing works except the click sound. Eventually, the behavior will work.
    On slides 4 and following, the correct initial button and graphic appears, and the click sound works when clicked, but no behaviors EVER work.
    If the behaviors NEVER, EVER worked, I would keep looking for what I did not have set correctly, but the correct working on the slide where they are set, delayed behavior on the next, and no behavior on the remainder of slides following has me stumped.
    Captivate version 6.0.1.240
    Windows 7 OS
    I hope I'm missing something obvious here, and I'm more than willing to face-palm if you tell me . Otherwise, I have not been able to find any setting that makes any difference. I would REALLY rather not duplicate the buttons and scripts on every page of the project. Given the blog posts I have seen saying this method should work just fine, I'm hoping there is a side quirk somewhere that I'm missing.
    Thanks for any help you can give.

    Without clouding with too much explanation, this technique arose out of a need to deal with (in a different project) objects that were grouped, and wanting to deal with the groups in as simple a way as possible, allow for easy swapping of group assets, and having a few buttons do multiple things. The idea of being able to have multiple interactive buttons stacked on top of each other while appearing for the rest of the project led to trying this simple construct before trying something more complex.
    You are correct, that there is a simpler solution, which we ended up using because we were not able to get two interactive buttons stacked on top of each other while displayed for the rest of the project to work properly (although that is SUPPOSED to work, as far as I understand).
    Here's what we ended up doing:
    A) Two smartshapes used as messaging graphics
    B) A single (one) interactive smartshape used as a button
    C) A conditional action to pause/resume and show/hide the appropriate messaging graphics
    D) All three objects (A&B) stacked, B on top.
    E) All objects set to always appear on top, and to display for rest of project.
    Our hypothesis, then, is that you are not able to stack interactive objects on top of each other and then display for the rest of the project.
    If anyone has evidence to the contrary, we would, gladly, take a look.
    Thanks for your interest Lilybiri, and for your input.
    Best regards,
    Hank

  • System Partition Not Set. Bcdboot failed! bcdboot.exe

    Hey guys,
    I have an issue that I can't get past, and I've completely run out of ideas.
    I have an SCCM 2012 SP1 server and it has KB2801987 applied.
    From this server, I run a Windows 7 Enterprise x86, and a Windows 7 Enterprise x64 task sequence for bare metal deployment to workstations.
    Everything works perfectly fine, EXCEPT when I deploy the Windows 7 Ent x64 WIM, and I've used bootable USB media.
    PXE Booting a machine, and running the task sequence that deploys Win7x64 = works perfectly.
    Advertising the Win7x64 task sequence to a machine = works perfectly
    Booting from a 32-bit boot usb media, running the Win7x64 task sequence -> downloads the boot(x64) WinPE image, then starts deployment = works perfectly
    Booting from 64-bit boot usb media, running the Win7X64 task sequence = Task Sequence Error (0x8004005).
    I've recreated my USB boot media several times. I've tried different brands/models of USB keys, and I always get the exact same error.
    And this is the same error that always happens in my SMSTS.LOG.  It seems it can't set the boot partition, and fails at the every end of applying the WIM image.  And again, this is ONLY when I use USB boot media for THIS particular task sequence.
    The exact same TS, WinPE boot image and WIM image work just fine when deployed via any other method.  I guess the only thing I haven't tried yet is to make a bootable CD with the same media to see if I get the same issue.  I will try that as soon
    as I can.
    But any ideas/help is appreciated.  Thanks guys.

    http://www.dreamension.net

    I am getting the exact same issue as the original post, however strangely only with one model of computer (HP Compaq 6300 Pro tower desktops).
    We are using SCCM 2012 SP1 but are not using PXE, USB media only.
    Same symptoms, running a deployment task sequence for x64 Windows 7 Enterprise makes it all the way through the Apply OS step which installs a .wim I've captured previously and fails when attempting to copy down the WinPE environment to continue the task
    sequence.
    All boot images have been updated to WinPE 4.0 and have the according driver packs added. My format and partition step creates 1 partition to use the whole drive. We do not use a separate partition for system reserved because our FDE product does not play
    well with encrypting that partition because it is not an active partition.
    Running the initial attempt from an x64 boot key results in failure, but running on an x86 boot key that requires the x64 boot image for deployment will complete. After the initial failure from the x64 key, the machine can't even be deployed from an x86
    boot key because it still fails to write to the partition. No combination of diskpart and format from the command prompt has been able to get it deployed yet.
    Any other ideas or steps to troubleshoot? I'm open to anything because this is hindering our ability to fully migrate to our 2012 environment.

  • How to set up display properties for a crosstab is CSS?

    I am woundring how to setup css class and code like in this tutorial.
    myalerting.css ?
    Set up display properties for a crosstab: Design Studio 1.2 - YouTube.
    Design Studio 1.2: Set up display properties for a crosstab
    if you have sample file please share I am sure other can be befits from as well.
    I would like to use color display on numbers or icons in seperate column if the value in certain range  or a value is below or avove business needs.
    Thanks.

    Kevin,
    I could not get this to work on my installation; perhaps you can review and "run with it" or someone better with CSS can assist.
    The gist of it is there is a class .sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert1Background to define the status symbol for the alerts
    Based on your Exceptions in the BEx query, Good 1 is .sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert1Background
    Good 2 is .sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert3Background
    etc... Bad 3 (red symbol) is .sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert9Background
    I tried the following custom CSS on the crosstab, note using IE (which now we can no longer use until Microsoft patches)
    myAlerting.sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlternating{
    background-color:#F9F9F9 !important;
    myAlerting.sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault{
    background-color:#FFFFFF !important;
    myAlerting.sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert1Background
    color:rgba(0,0,0,0.0);
    background-image: url('/aad/resources/~1398612272195~/sap/zen/crosstab/themes/sap_platinum/img/exceptions/status_1.gif') !important;
    background-repeat:no-repeat !important;
    background-position:center top !important;
    myAlerting.sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert2Background
    color:rgba(0,0,0,0.0);
    background-image: url('/aad/resources/~1398612272195~/sap/zen/crosstab/themes/sap_platinum/img/exceptions/status_2.gif') !important;
    background-repeat:no-repeat !important;
    background-position:center top !important;
    myAlerting.sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert3Background
    color:rgba(0,0,0,0.0);
    background-image:url('green.png');
    background-repeat:no-repeat !important;
    background-position:center top !important;
    myAlerting.sapzencrosstab-DataCellDefault.sapzencrosstab-DataCellAlert9StatusSymbol
    color:rgba(0,0,0,0.0);
    background-image: url('aad/resources/~1398612272195~/sap/zen/crosstab/themes/sap_platinum/img/exceptions/status_9.gif') !important;
    background-repeat:no-repeat !important;
    background-position:center top !important;
    I didn't want to hold you up and for sure I hope there is someone in the community who could help.  I'll try again when we can use IE

  • How to set the display size of the PDF - in percent?

    Hi, I wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to set
    the display size of the PDF document, so that it always
    shows in, let´s say 100%, in the viewers browser window?
    Much grateful for any help!

    In Acrobat, under Document Properties (Ctrl+D), you can edit the Initial
    View settings, including the zoom level.

  • Setting the display name in a message

    Hello for the following code:
    String from = "[email protected]";
    Message msg = new MimeMessage(session);
    msg.setFrom(new InternetAddress(from));
    I'd like to set the display name, i.e.
    "A Message From Foo"
    However I did not see a msg.setDisplayName() method... is there any way to do this?
    As a working example, amazon sends an email with a return address of [email protected], but the display name is 'Amazon Payments' which looks a lot nicer for the customer. I'd like to do the same.
    Thanks

    Solution is:
    new InternetAddress(email_address, display_name);

  • Set One Display as 'Default' on Startup?

    I have a Mac Pro 2.66 GHz Dual-Core that I have connected primarily to one external display (22" LCD monitor by Insignia) and two LCD projectors. The projectors are not always plugged in, because the primary use of this computer is in the tech booth of a theatre space, but logistically, we need to have the VGA cords for the projecters plugged into the back of the Mac at all times. I'm having trouble getting the computer to recognize the LCD monitor as the default/master display on startup (both when the projecters are plugged in and when they're not.) Is there a way to set the display settings to always recognize the port that the LCD monitor is plugged in to as a default? When it doesn't, I can't see the login screen on startup.
    Thanks for any help you can give!

    Login to your administrator account and in the "Arrangement" tab of "Displays" system preference, drag the menu bar to the picture of the 22" display.
    Have you tried switching DVI ports on the back of the computer?

  • Outlook 2010 Signature: Resizes GIF-pictures when you do not have 100% dpi set on display settings

    Our automatic signature tool creates signatures for all our employees. The signature works fine until people with non-100% dpi setting on display (e.g. medium 125% or Larger 150% in Control Panel > Display) try to edit their generated
    signature and saves. Suddenly the images get resized and blurry, even if it is not displayed as resized when save the updated signature.
    It works fine to edit and save if you have display DPI set to 100%.
    The company logo is 127x38 pixels, 2,15KB GIF file.
    Is this a known bug or something else? I'm not sure its fair to blame the signature-tool as it works okay before the editor has been doing its stuff.
    Another strange thing. If I have edited a signature in 125% and saves it. I send an email and the signature logo is blurry.  But if I change display DPI to 100% and send another email (logoff and logon first to change dpi) then the logo is fine again.
    Seems like the logo is bound to text size

    Our company is having this exact same problem.  We have Outlook 2010 SP2 and Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise.  As the OP we have a signature creation tool that helps us create these HTML signatures dynamically.  OP did you ever resolve this issue?
    However, in our situation our logo gif image is already 96 DPI.  Our HTML signatures work perfectly fine when Windows DPI is set to 100%.  But, as soon as you go to 125% or 150% we have problems when saving email drafts and sending emails where the
    logo increases in size.
    Here is an example of the HTML code for my current signature.  Any help on this issue would be appreciated.  Is there a way to prevent Outlook from doing this when DPI is increase from default.  We have a lot of users that need to increase
    the DPI to see their PC better.

  • Can't set Main Display

    Hi
    I have just connected up my new MacPro. I am using 2 displays - 1 DVI and 1 VGA. The DVI display needs to be my main display but nomatter how I connect them the VGA display ends up as the main display. I have looked in Display System Prefs and for an nVidia pref app (I have the 7300GT) but can't find anything by which to set which display I wany as main.
    I'm sure there is a dead obvious answer but I can't find it!
    Thanks

    Did you go to the Arrangement tab (I think that's what it's called) in the Displays System Preference and drag the menubar item/symbol that's presumeably on your VGA display to your DVI display? This is probably all you need to do.

    Try booting to Safe Mode (hold Shift while booting).
    Or, try resetting the PRAM (hold commandoption+PR while booting, hold to second chime).

    any idea?
    tnx

    When exactly it stopped displaying in Problems View? Have you installed any other plug-ins to Eclipse?
    Try the following steps:
    - Quit & relaunch Workshop
    - In Problems View, Launch Filters... window
    - Click "Restore Defaults" button (make sure JSP problem is checked)
    - Click OK
    - Does the warnings displayed in Workshop JSP/XML Editor appear in the Problems View?
    In case you still face the same problem, please send the following information to [email protected]
    * Help > About Workshop > Click on Eclipse icon - Version & build id
    * Help > About Workshop > Click on Workshop icon - Version & build id
    * Window > Preferences > Java > Installed JREs - the JRE/JDK version
    * .log file from <Eclipse Workspsace>.metadata directory
    * m7.log.0 from <Workshop_Home_Dir>Workshop\eclipse\plugins\com.m7.nitrox_3.0.0 directory
    * <Workshop_Home_Dir>Workshop_InstallLog.log
    * If you can remember, the steps exercised (or plug-ins installed) before encountering this behavior
