Q10 bluetooth ability

I just upgraded from a Blackberry Bold to the Q10. The keyboard is essential for any smartphone.
I download podcast's every day and listen in car on my commute. With the BB Bold I plugged in with the audio cable and listened. When a call came in, the car's bluetooth would answer normally.
With the new Q10, when I have the audio cable plugged in listening to a podcast and a call comes in the phone is not answered with the bluetooth, instead the Q10 answers as if it has headphones plugged in. I have to unplug the audio cable from the Q10 every time the phone rings in order to use the bluetooth through the car.
Is it possible that the Bold is a superior to the latest and greatest Q10. I love the phone, and i can't believe this tiny piece of programming would be overlooked.

I'm having the same problem.  My last phone was the 9790 and it handled bluetooth calls in my car with the music player operating simultaneously through my auxilliary jack.
With the Q10, if my aux jack is plugged in, calls default to use the headphones even if the bluetooth is connected.
I can't hear anything from the other end of the call.
Really irritating and unsafe problem to have -- disconnecting the aux jack, taking the call, then reconnecting the jack, maximizing the music player window, and THEN pressing play to restart the music.  I've just about given up using the music player while driving as I don't want to risk missing a call and certainly don't want to play around with my phone while driving.
Talk about messing up something that worked perfectly before.  I'm hoping Blackberry addresses this issue immediately with a software update.  It's completely unacceptable and unsafe.

  • Blackberry Q10 - Bluetooth Audio gone / Contacts not shown in HUB

    Dear Blacberry Community,
I have some questions regarding my Blackberry Q10, that I use since not even a year.
    1. If I buy a mobile phone from a company that wants to be the star in the business world, why do I have to solve any issues with the help from other users? That the company that produces the product is not able to fix it themselves may be part of the problems...
    2. After my last recovery action the phone does not show the name for some specific contacts in the Hub, though caller ID and contacts entry is ok. Still, the Hub only shows only the number.
    3. After an OS software update the phone occassionally failed to contact to my car via bluetooth to play audio files - The hands-free speakerphone always worked and works! But I used to play the MP3 files stored on my phone via bluetooth on the cars stereo system. Similar problem like this.
Sometimes it works, sometimes the option Bluetooth Audio was not available in the cars built-in stereo.
After finding no solution in the internet I decided to re-install the phone software. After recovering the phone (and loosing half of the contacts that magically got lost during the backup process, and picking up problem no.2) it worked ok - until it started again, getting worse day by day. Sometimes the music started, but on the phone, not on the car speaker.
Then came the new software update to 10.2.1.2977.
Instead of the anticipated fix this update did something unexpected. Now, the Bluetooth Audio function does not work at all, never. I already deleted the bluetooth connection with the car, and reinitiated it, but no change. Phone works, Audio doesn't.
Which basically means that I do not use the audio function anymore. Which I consider a cool statement, such as driving a Mercedes S-Class, but you can't give the three blondes on the curbside a lift, because at the last inspection the Mercedes workshop accidently removed the rear bench - and then asked you to ask other Mercedes drivers to install it back in.
Bluetooth Audio connection to bluetooth speakers works, though.
Anybody a good idea? I'm reluctant to re-install the phone again, since it damaged as much as it fixed last time. And didn't last long.
How about a software update that, for a change, fixes the problem, instead of creating it?
    Thanks!

    I'm having the same issues.
My NEW Q10 will work fine for phone connection in my Hyundai Elantra GT(2013). It will connect via bluetooth to similarly enable speakers(Altec theJacket - not the XL) but NO AUDIO through the connected speakers!!! This is quite frustrating. The manual says it supports about a dozen 'profiles'. The Q10 supports APT-X technology, but not many speaker manufacturers support this. The Altec XL-Jacket is twice the price of theJacket.
When will BB fix the audio streaming problem? This is a major nuiscence!

  • Q10 Bluetooth problems

Approx 5 weeks ago I updated the software on my Q10. It caused all sorts of problems, e-mail would not delete, Bluetooth would not sync with my MB car. It worked perfectly before the so called upgrade.
I called my provider and after an hour of this this and that was transferred over to BB support, which is somewhere in South America. They were completely useless. Over the next month or so, I spent so many hours on the phone with them trying to resolve the issue. I reset the phones software at least 3 times , sent them logs of the phone several times and they were unable to tell me why my Q10 cannot sync with my MB car. Finally, last week, they told me to read the BB Forum , it mentions that many people are having this problem and BB is working on finding a fix.
BB support telling me to look it up myself ????
I asked to go back to the previous software, but they said it was not possible....I should just be patient.
I've been a loyal BB owner for over 20 years, but now Ive had enough and Im switching to Samsung Galaxy  as soon as my contract is up.

I also have BT issues with my Q10.  I have AT&T, so of course I have NO IDEA when we'll ever get updated to 10.2, but I hope it's soon!
My issue is that when I pair my Plantronics Voyager it never asks for the passcode.  When I make a call, first the Q10 rings  and a second later it passes it to the headset.  When it does I get a screen popup saying "Call  Forwarding-Conditional"
This is annoying enough, but unlike my last cell, it doesn't pass notifications to the headset.  So not only do I not hear them if I set the cell down & walk away, unless I set the Q10 to silent, people around me hear full volume for ringing, texts or calendar notifications!  If I turn it to silent then I don't know about them unless I SEE it on the display.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks!

  • Q10 Bluetooth to PC problem

I have been trying to no avail to pair my Q10 with my laptop. Everything goes well until I want to pair the two. The computer sends a number to the phone and I accept because they match and then all the drivers are installed after this I try and connect to the computer through my Q10 and receive a message stating,"Con't Connect. In device setting on your BlackBerry device, turn on Internet Tethering using Bluetooth." I am not trying to set up this bluetooth connection for internet tethering and cannot turn that option on because I do not have a tethering plan. Any possible reasons and help would be appreciated, thank you. Photo at the bottom is what I receive when I try to connect. I'm running OS 10.2.1.2141 and it was also the same issue on OS 10.2.1.1925

i don't know if i had the same problem ,but i will share it with you.
i was breaking my head for 2 days on this
and it was long long time ago on a failed project
my VERY small problem was the channel the the device is listening on
in the URL you specify the channel
the channels must be the same
in the PC and in the phone
    hope that's helps.
and where did you get the Bluetooth api for the PC ?

  • Q10: Synchronization ability has just disappeared...

Another Bug or is it a feature?
Due to travels, I (unfortunately) was unable to return my Q10 prior to the regret window, so I am now struggling to make it productive.
Latest surprise this morning - the synchronization button in the Link software is gone...  so i cannot synchronize.
I am close to solving the problem with a hammer, but though I would wait a little bit - any thoughts on this forum?

SOLVED - Uninstall and reinstalled the Link software did the trick.
this Q10 is becoming a full time job...

  • BlackBerry Q10 bluetooth issues since software upgrade

I have a BBQ10 and a chevy sonic with mylink. UP until Monday night they paired fine everything worked and then I had a software upgrade on my BlackBerry. It installed just fine no issues there. Now when I try to make/receive calls while using bluetooth in the car my phone has to be using speaker. Handset doesn't work, nor does bluetooth. The first time I start car up and the devices pair I can get the bluetooth to ask me "what would u like to do" I can get all the way to connecting to the call. As soon as call is connected it tells me it's going into private mode. This is the point where only the speaker on the phone itself will work. I can not talk via bluetooth or "handset" speaker only or I don't hear people but they hear me. I know it's not an issue with the mylink in car I paired my mum's bold and everything works as it should. Suggestions?
    Solved!

Problem solved. Changed phone name. Deleted pairing between phone and car bluetooth rebooted phone turned car off and back on. Repaired devices and seems to be fine now

  • Audio from X1 box to bluetooth speakers

how do i get the audio to my bluetooth spreakers?

No Bluetooth boxes I am aware of but it sounds like a good idea for hearing impaired people. FYI, Sennheiser makes some RF cordless headphones that are designed for hearing impaired people to aid them with TV watching. They aren't cheap but my customers that have them absolutely love them. kenbre wrote:

  • Help - How to stop Bluetooth on BB10 from repeatedly trying to connect to unknown device

    Hi,
So about a week ago I was trying to connect my Q10 to a Bluetooth speaker. In the process of this (and rather stupidly) I tried to connect to some unknow device that is not mine (nor was it the bluetooth speaker). I quickly deleted this connection. However my Q10 now constantly asks me to enter a "numeric passkey" to connect to this unknown device. I've tried changing the Q10 Bluetooth name, my "discoverable" option is set to off and I've deleted ALL saved Bluetooth connections, but my Q10 keeps beeping at me asking for a passkey. Short of a factory reset how do I stop this happening? It appears (to me at least) that something in the Q10 still thinks this is a valid device and wants to complete the connection.
I have unchecked "Connect to the last device when turned on" and also turned off rSAP Mode (whatever that is).
I work in a congested area with mutiple companies very close so have no option to go find the device (it only bugs me as I drive into the carpark and I am at my desk).
    Software version is 10.2.1.2122.
thanks in advance for any help to stop this as Bluetooth is basically useless right now for me at work.

If you put in 0000 as passcode, does it pair?
So a follow up to this (and using the question you asked). Taking the question about can I connect I did connect to the device again and then turned "Handsfree Calling" off in the Device Details. This seems to leave the device present, but unconnected. It is no longer bugging me, which is something. I'd rather not have it present at all of course, but that seems to be hard!
I'd appreciate your thoughts on this as a long term solution?
    Many Thanks,

  • Bluetooth - Skip Tracks/Full Implementation?

    Hi
Does anyone know when Apple will implement the Bluetooth ability to Skip Tracks whilst using the iPhone? They've partially completed all the Bluetooth capabilities by adding volume control to OS4, however they left out Skip Tracks. It's very frustrating not to have this whilst Running or Cycling or working out in general.
The "Shake to Shuffle" is OK, but useless when you're working out because it constantly changes. I just want to put the iPhone in my pocket or arm holder and control it from my Bluetooth device. Other phones I've had seem able to do this so not sure what the issue is with the iPhone.
Anyone have any news on when Bluetooth functionality will be finally complete? I thought it was a simlpe case of a firmware change rather than anything hardware related.
    Thanks
    Andy

Found the thread. Still no AVRP support on OS4

  • Q10 linking with VM-605 speakerphone

    Hi,
I see that someone asked if this linking was possible and the reply was yes but not how to. I have tried putting the VM into pairing mode with the Q10 bluetooth sw on but it fails to recognise the speakerphone and the comands for bluetooth on the phone like search just dont appear. Refresh doesnt help either
Can anyone tell me how this is done please?

Thanks for that info.  To troubleshoot is there another device that you can try to pair the VM605 with?
the only other thing I can think of is to provide the pairing instructions for the q10 in case something was missed.

  • Bluetooth device passkey (pairring)

First attempt to use bluetooth capabilities.  Trying to connect my Moto phone so I can transfer some photo's.
Computer identifies device but will not connect.  Phone identifies computer but asks for a  bluetooth pin number that I can find on any IBM site.  Any Help with how to use the bluetooth ability of the computer ?

    welcome to the forum!
usually you can pick your own passcode.   they just have to match.   if other numbers fail, try "0000".

  • My Wishlist for WebOs Update 1.4.5 - ALL REASONABLE AND Somewhat EASY.

I just bought a Palm Pre and I love it far more than any windows or blackberry phone I ever had and far more than my old iphone. Its also, in my opinion, more of a draw for me than the android is.
And I am sure that even though I am posting this, many users have mentioned this and Palm is aware. But I figure I could voice my opinion and hopefully make these things more of a reality than not. Now basically the options I added would help me to work better with my Pre. But there are some items that just need to be there which are in almost all smartphones these days. I put two ** next to those items. The other stuff would just make my life easier as well as other peoples lives and would put the pre ahead of the competition. I know most of these can be used by adding patches. But its a hassle to have to add them and then remove them everytime an update comes along. So for now, I say go ahead with the planned 1.4.1 WebOS update. But I do think that by 1.4.5, it should have these features.
    So here goes:
    Contacts:
    *Support for LDAP Syncing
    *More than one photo
    *Add  videos of the person
    **Categories
**Better search including the ability to search for categories or in general even in the notes.
*An option to link Contacts to their spouses and children.
**Add more options for anniversaries and dates and such and have it show up on the calendar automatically.
*Ability to add a different video and or photo to each type of phone number.
**Ability to Jump to a letter or category.
**A sorting feature to sort by companies, phone number, last name, first name, address, etc....
*Ability to add a middle name as well as a Maiden Name.
*Ability to add more than one note and child.
    Calls:
*Ability to customize what details are shown on the call screen, such as what phone number they are calling from, multiple photos or even a video of the person.
**Ability to see Received calls, missed calls, placed calls along with a duration and timestamp. (I know some of these are there already).
*Add a fast dialing system for the first digits 1 through 0. Basically you can assign a number to speed dial. Holding that button will allow the speed dial to dial automatically.
**Before dialing from Missed calls or contacts, let it ask you if you want to call. Dont just call right away.
    Verizon Specific:
    **Support for Visual VoiceMail
    **VZ Navigator 5
    *Vcast Videos and music
    Calendar:
    **Ability to search calendar
**Ability to see colors on month view.
*Year View - This is possible. I have seen this on other devices with smaller screens.
*Ability to add a contact to the Calendar Event.
    *Attachments from the calendar.
    Messaging:
*Changing the theme of the IM screen.
**Seeing the character and page count as we type
*Automatically changing to MMS to add Video, sound and pictures.
**Ability to beam messages and conversations.
*Ability to not only view as conversations, but also individual messages.
*IM logins for MSN, MSN Live, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook.
    Camera:
    **Add support for Panaramic view
**Add support for digital zoom in and out using the volume keys and multi touch.
**Add an option for Shutter Sound
**Support for Face recognition and light detection.
**Ability to set the resolution of the pictures and videos being taken.
**A menu option for all of this.
*Add features for Focus and Exposure.
*Image modes such as Black and White, Watercolor and other colors.
**Scene modes such as Landscape, portrait, Sunset, Dusk, Night time and Action.
*After taking a photo, let it come up with an option on if you want to save or discard the photo, while it shows you a preview of the image.
**An option to add the photo video to your contacts, facebook, google Orkut, Twitter, MySpace, photobucket and others.
**Ability to send as MMS after taking the photo/video along with an option to resize it to MMS size quality.
*Timer so that the camera can shoot after a specific time.
*An option to add backgrounds and scenery.
    Browser:
    **iPhone Spoofing.
    *Ability to send page link
**Ability to remember passwords and logins
**Ability to type in a new web URL while on any page.
    Messaging:
    *Smiley faces
    Device Settings:
*A setting where you can tell it to never shut off if its plugged in. This way the device is always on while being plugged in.
    *Led Notifications.
    Launcher:
    **Ability to add new pages
**Ability to set how many items are displayed per row
*Ability to have page tabs and either name them or go by number.
*Ability to change launcher background or make it transparent.
**When moving an icon around, can there be a way of doing a cut and paste on the icon, rather than dragging it across screens? One option would be to hold your finger down, it cuts it, then goto the page you want to move it to and click on it and it gets pasted.
    New Features:
    **An on screen Keyboard
**Many if not all apps and features should support the accelerometer, landscape/portrait and instant flipping.
*An option to control the transitions when flipping with the accelerometer.
*On the launch bar, add an IM icon since a lot of people use that more than the E-mail Icon.
*On the launch bar, Add a speed Dialer contacts view which would display 15 contacts by photo and you can click one to dial.
*An ability to start with the launcher opened or with just a background,
    Title Bar:
**Date and time with day of the week: Day of the Week mm/dd/yy hh/mm/ss/am-pm: EG: Mon 2/12/10 11:13:05AM
**Put the percentage of the battery next to the battery icon.
    Music Player:
    *Add an option for bookmarking.
**Add a scrollbar to move to a position in the song.
*Ability to create your own playlist.
    *Ability to find Lyrics online
*Basically whatever the music player remix can do.
    Bluetooth:
**Ability to sync with other Microsoft devices.
    Volume Settings:
**Add from loudest to quietest to Vibrate to no sound at all. I miss the vibrate option on this phone as a setting.
    Enhancements:
    **Better battery life
**Faster loading (Even though I think it does well already)
    **Bug fixes.
    Possible features for programming:
    *Support for Allegro
    *Support for LUA
*Support for OpenGL (If its not supported currently)
*Support for QT (If its not supported currently)
    *Support for AngelScript
If anyone wants to add or agree, go ahead. But please use the same format as I just did. Thanks for listening Palm.

Holy crap your asking for a lot. Some of it I certainly agree with, but, some of it frankly would appeal to too few users or is so much beyond what the competition is offering in the price range that I wouldn't hold your breath. That said, you asked for a few things that are already there that you were perhaps either unaware of or maybe don't function the way you would like them to (in which case be more specific.)
**A sorting feature to sort by companies, phone number, last name, first name, address, etc....
-There are some sorting features available. When in the contacts main screen, press the menu bar and go to preferences. The top option labeled "List Order" is a sort function. Available options are "First Name," "Last Name," "Company & first name," "Company & last name."
*Ability to add a middle name as well as a Maiden Name.
-If you tap the menu bar while editing a contact you will see an option for "Name Details." This will bring up a screen with fields for Prefix, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, and Suffix.
*Ability to add more than one note and child.
-Not sure I understand the need for multiple notes, but each their own etc... As for child, the field is labeled "Children" I'm not sure why you need anything more than to separate multiple childrens names with a comma. Just curious as to why you want an individual field per child (not judging, just curious.)
*Add a fast dialing system for the first digits 1 through 0. Basically you can assign a number to speed dial. Holding that button will allow the speed dial to dial automatically.
-This is already there. When viewing a contact (not editing), press the menu bar. Second option down is "Set Speed Dial." Once there Palm has done you one better than 0-9 by offering you nearly every key on the qwerty keyboard. Caveat, best as I've been able to determine the press and hold only works in the phone app or home/launcher screens.
    *Ability to send page link
-This can already be done. While viewing a web page, press the menu bar, then Page. One of the options is "Share." Selecting this will open a new e-mail with the link and embed a .png thumbnail of the page.
**Ability to type in a new web URL while on any page.
    - Unless the system "carat" is in a text field of some sort at the time. Just starting to type will bring up the address box.
    *Led Notifications.
    - As someone else pointed out, this was added with 1.4.0. It's settings are located within "Screen&Lock" on the 3rd launcher page. I don't know what affect having a 3rd party patch addressing the same functionality would have if you played with the built in settings while the patch is installed.
**Add from loudest to quietest to Vibrate to no sound at all. I miss the vibrate option on this phone as a setting.
    - Not really sure what you're asking for here. Volume keys can get you from loudest to no sound at all. There is also a physical switch next to the power button which depending on what you choose in the "Sounds & Ringtones" on the 3rd launcher page can be either silent or vibrate.
*On the launch bar, add an IM icon since a lot of people use that more than the E-mail Icon.
    - If you're talking about replacing the e-mail icon with the messaging app, you can do this now. It's done the same way you move icons within the launcher.
*On the launch bar, Add a speed Dialer contacts view which would display 15 contacts by photo and you can click one to dial.
    - This can be accomplished by a number of 3rd party apps. Check the App Catalogue.
    Okay onto my soapbox:
    Contacts:
Yes, LDAP is an old and useful early net protocol. But it's also one that has fallen largely into disuse. Not saying you shouldn't use it or like it, but you may be the first person I've seen even mention it in a good 6-8yrs.
I'm not sure why the need for multiple contact photos. Definitely don't see the need for video other than the play with it once "ooh nifty" factor. You acknowledge it's "gimmicky" and then expect Palm to provide it free as opposed to buying a 3rd party app. That's not something that many people are going to want let alone need. If you want it, and someone agrees with you and wants to develop it then you can pay for it. Personally, I'd rather Palm being a smaller company focus its attentions elsewhere including some of the points on your list.
Agree 100% with categories and better searching as well as the need for birthdays/aniversaries etc. showing up in the calendar.
    Calls:
More details would be nice but again I disagree with mult photos or video.
I too would like it to be a little less quick to dial. I'm thinking a press and hold on the screen to dial rather than an additional confirmation prompt. In my mind that would be enough to guard against accidental dialing without being a nuisance when dialing is desired.
    Verizon:
Visual VoiceMail would be nice definitely. However it's support may not be a Palm issues so much as a Verizon (and/or what ever subcontractor handles that for them) issue. No comment on VZNav and Vcast, have never and don't use them.
    Calendar:
Funny thing about the adding contacts to events. The under-the-hood support for that functionality I've discovered is actually there. It seems there is just no way to access it when creating or modifying existing events. I recieved an mms with an event from a blackberry that had persons attached and when loaded into my calendar I was able to see and IIRC even modify attached e-mail addresses (which Synergy resolved to the appropriate contacts in my phone.)
    Messaging:
**Ability to beam messages and conversations.
-Not sure what you mean by this. Beaming used to refer to IR transfers. Pre/Pixi don't have IR transceivers so I'm not sure what it is your asking for.
    Camera:
Panorama wouldn't really be useful. The camera is fixed zoom with a physically determined aspect ratio. All Palm could do through software is crop the top and bottom of the image so that what's left is a panoramic looking image. It would not however be any wider a view than what you would getting taking a landscape oriented photo. Unless of course you mean taking multiple photos that would get stitched together which is another matter entirely.
As for the rest, I think your giving a smart phone camera too much credit and using to replace a purpose built camera. I've occasionally seen one or two of the other requests in smart/camera phones but never all. Being a full on camera is just not what they're designed for. Obviously you can ask, but I wouldn't hold your breath for Palm to add those features. The demand is probably not there among the majority of the userbase and targeted demos for the devices.
    Launcher:
Everything you've asked for is available in PreWare as a patch. I've got several of 'em installed. The code to add launcher pages was apparently already within the OS and the patch merely enables this existing code. So I imagine much of these requests will be officially enabled at some point in a future webOS update.
    Other:
I'm curious, in your follow up post you state that face recognition has been on every other smart phone you've owned. Which phones? I've never seen that on anything other than proper cameras (possible exception may be iPhone 3GS which I haven't played with.) Regardless, don't expect it on the Pre. It's a fixed focus camera so face recognition will do virtually nothing but take up processing power (well could be used for exposure but...)
Not trying to be critical but a lot (but not all) off the stuff you asked for is probably way to niche in terms of the majority of users or potential users for it to be worth Palm to devote resources to over other future features and bug fixes. Some of it might be nice to have (including much of your camera list,) but I'd have to call it low priority since much of it can be done in other ways (off phone) without much difficulty or potentially with 3rd party down the road.

  • Can you print to a non AirPrint printer

Is it possible for iPad to print to a printer without AirPrint or do I have to buy a new printer ?

No, janels, PrintHub would require that the printer either natively support Google Cloud Print (nothing that's 5 years old does that I am aware of) or you would need a laptop/computer connected to the printer that has the Google Cloud Print software installed.  Demo is correct; without either a laptop or computer then no, PrintHub would not work for your situation.
As for Demo's suggestion that you "won't get much" for $0.99, I just wanted to say I know the author of the app and he wanted to make it available to as many people without making it completely free.  It is a fairly robust app, enabling you print an extensive list of MIME file types (TXT, PNG, DOC, XLS, PDF, JPG, etc.), and additionally you can convert images to PDF's, apply graphical filters to images, and manage the files added to the app's library.  There are more full-featured apps on the market that will also let you use Google Cloud Print, but from what I saw they start at $4.99.
Lastly, I've not heard of any bluetooth devices that will let you print to a legacy printer.  To my knowledge the printer has to have bluetooth ability built-in to print because no device would be able to act as a bridge.  Such a device would have to have the hardware drivers for every type of printer in order to communicate with them, which is nearly impossible.
I hope this information helps and I hope you find a solution that works for you, janel.

  • I have an idea for physical keyboard lovers

When I got my first iPhone 1st generation, I struggled to get used to the touch screen keyboard. I always wished to somehow modify the phone to have one. I eventually got used to the keyboard and its not bad. But with the release of ios4 and the ability to use bluetooth keyboard. I was thinking of a case that could cover the back of the phone, that would plug into the power of the iPhone and inside the cover would be a slide out keyboard with a bluetooth ability built into the case keyboard which is powered by the phone itself. This may decrease battery life slightly but if you feel the need to have a physical keyboard I guess you can suck it up.
