Q10 Calendar Notification

I agree. Ever since the new update was downloaded a week ago, I have thought that there was something wrong with me or my Q10.  Now I discover that others have the same problem with the Calendar notification - no sound, no vibration.  Blackberry is good about sending out notifications from time to time about other matters.  When there is a glitch in a software update - particularly one as major as this one - why can't Blackberry let us know about it.  It sure would have saved me a lot of time and frustration this week !!  Plus I would know that they know and that they are working on a fix for it.

  • Can't Sync my Z or Q10 Calendar to my Home Outlook

Re: Cannot sync my Blackberry calendar to Outlook
    Options
I have had a blackberry of one soort or another for over ten years. All of my BBs have been network synchronised, as is my current ones. On my previous phones I could one way, from device to Outlook, sync my work calendar to my home Outlook so that my wife could see my schedule and know where I am. The contacts also synched easily.
With this new Q10 and Z10, the contacts still sync fine either one way from device or two way.
If I do a two way sync via USB on my Outlook to the device the outlook info shows on the Q10 calendar. (I only have one calendar that wirelessly syncs to my office network Outlook calendar). The Q10 data does NOT show on the home Outlook calendar after USB sync, but syncs wirelessly just fine on the work one. I have opened the home side, work side, made BBLink the default calendar etc. I have spent hours messing with this and still can't get it to wor. This is extremely frustrating. What is the fix please.

Well that really is a poor situation. The article clearly explains why the sync doesn't work but there is no way around the problem. Now I have to export my calnedar from my work laptop, as a PST, and import it to my home compute if I want my wife to be able to see where I am.
While this is doable it was a whole lot simpler when all I had to do was turn off syyncronization to contacts and calendar, cable my Blackberry to my home computer and sync it.
You guys really need to get this new 10 series working properly and bring back all the useful features that are no longer there. Even as a die hard Canadian booster and fan I am starting to consider looking at alternatives.

  • Q10 Calendar Sync

Just purchased a new Q10, very pleased with it but cant sync my calendar, email is working fine. Looking at the set up videos there are options to switch sync on or off for calendar / Contacts during set up but I don’t get these. Tried T-Mobile several times for support but referred me to BB site, now read all there is on the BB site (and watched the videos). I must have something set up incorrectly and a simple chat with BB support would probably fix things but cant fined a number. Any ideas?

I'd have to delete and re-configure a similar account on my device, but if memory serves me correctly neither IMAP nor POP include anything other than email in their configuration wizards...EAS is required for those additional things to be included with the email configuration wizard. I might be wrong, but that's what my brain is telling me.
As for which email integration method to choose...always choose "the best" method your provider offers, in this order of preference -- EAS, then IMAP, and lastly POP. Sometimes, you have to activate one or the other...for example, within the GMail web interface, the user can control if IMAP, POP, or both are faced to the Internet (EAS is only available via GMail for paid Google Apps subscribers OR those personal free account users who integrated the specific device to GMail via EAS prior to the cutoff some months ago that Google imposed).
Typically (with IMAP and POP), the email settings (which are all you've quoted above) are not the same for calendar and/or contacts to be configured via CalDAV or CardDAV. You need to obtain, from your provider, the proper settings specifically for those.
    Good luck!

  • Q10-Calendar wont stay populated

Using microsoft active sync to wifi sync outlook email, contacts and calendar with my 1 yr old Q10.  For the past several months, calendar spontaneously loses all event data and wont repopulate on its own.  Will repopulate immediately if I go into settings and do this sequence: turn off calendar sync option - save - turn on calendar sync - save.  However, within minutes all events are wiped again. Email and contacts remain intact.  Fido tech suppport has repeatedly tried to help with zero success. I am forced to carry my laptop/iPad everywhere in order to check or modify my schedule past several months.

I had the same problem and I have deleted Gmail account and reinstalled and calendar events were partially synchronised. I've changed the un-syncronised events to "all day event" (from Google Calendar app) and I was able to synchronise most of them (yes, most of them). Still, I have troubles în displaying events for future week: sometimes it shows all events, sometimes not. I don't get different colours for different calendars, also.

I have updated to OS 10.3.1.1565 on my Q10 and everything works fine, but the notifications of my calendar reminders. It displys the notification, without lighting up the screen, w/o fibration, w/o sound. I have checked the profiles, the overriding setting of the calendar etc. noting helps.

  • Q10 Calendar does not want to sync with computer (post operating software update)

I have had my Q10 for close to a year and my calendar has always synced properly. In the last days it no longer wants to sync with a message "Sync was unsuccessful - Failed to commit changes to device". I recently upgraded the operating system to the latest version and I'm wondering if this caused the issue reloaded Blackberry Link as well. All the previous setup is the same. However, when I go to the Configure Calendar page, it indicates "Calendar (This computer only) and I am not able to modify it or delete it This is the correct folder none the less.
I thank you in advance for any help or advice on how I can solve this.

Seems it's a known issue with no resolution yet.

I would highly recommend uploading your calendar to an email/cloud service like Outlook.com and then adding the account to the Q10. The calendar items will sync nicely between the device and Outlook.com. Additionally, you will be able to have that data on whatever device you use, or multiple devices. I made this move a while back and couldn't be happier.

  • BB Q10 Calendar Sync does not work

    Hallo there,
every time I try to synchronize my BB Q10 with my PC via BB Link  I get this error message:
"CPreferencesManager: Configuration Value for /Preferences/Account_22_1441794/DevicePin not set in TransConfig.xml for translator RimBB"
    What am I to do?
    Device Name: Blackberry-9ED0
    Model Number: SQN100-3
    Software Version: 10.1.0.2309
    Number of Series: 0720-3468-3262
    Thanks for help
    Dr. Gerhard Hofmann/Berlin

I just downloaded the new software "111_b026_multilanguage.exe" from the official BB-Website - and after three attempts: It worked! Make sure, that you get "111_b026_multilanguage.exe" (I got it from the German website). Be also sure to have uninstalled all older versions of Blackberry Link before starting! Good Luck!

  • Calendar Notifications / Alerts / Reminders killing my battery

I haven't found any comments on this specifically....
I have noticed that if I leave a calendar notification/reminder on the screen, my battery dies very rapidly.  With the phone in airplane mode, a notification on the screen seems to kill the battery in 6-8 hours (maybe less).  If I disable notifications and leave the phone in airplane mode, the battery drops only ~ 5-10% in 6-8 hours.
It looks like pulseaudio, mediaserver, and LunaSysMgr are all pretty active while the notificaiton is on the screen.  (I left top running before a notification appeared so I could see what was going on.)
Has anyone else seen this?  Perhaps it is well-known and I am missing it in my searches.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I saw this before the most recent update.  I had noticed that my battery life was generally better on weekends than during the week.  It has always been that way.  One big difference is that I tend to have a lot of calendar appointments during the work day, and I don't always dismiss them.
In the process of looking at possible improvements (kernels, etc.), I happened to leave Govnah open and noticed that the CPU was running at the higher/max frequency all the time when I had the "on demand" governer enabled when I turned on my phone and there was a notification/reminder on the screen.  As soon as I dismissed it, the frequency went down.
So, I went back to the default config and left top running and noticed pulseaudio was running, etc..  With the "normal" / default kernel running, I see the same behavior -- my battery dies very quickly if I leave notifications on the screen (even with the phone in airplane mode).
To clarify... airplane mode is not required to see the issue.  I only enabled that as a debug step to eliminate differences due to being connected to a network, etc..  This issuce occurs in airplane mode or when connected to 3G, etc..

  • Calendar notifications not working

I have many items in my calendar and my notifications/reminders are not working. I used to get a pop-up reminder 15 min. prior, but I am not getting any since yesterday.  Not sure what changed!

With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Now test your Calendar alerts again.

  • Q10 and Outlook Sync 2 ways

Can the Q10 Sync with OUTLOOK yet ?
I want to sync dates and information on my Q10 calendar to my OUTLOOK Calendar.

I upgraded from Bold 9780 and was shocked to discover BB10 doesn't sync with Outlook. Then I discovered the push email isn't there. So the "new" BB is not as good for a business user as iPhone, Galaxy or..........! Very disappointed.

  • Procedure for technical help?

As I have highlighted in a specific thread my Q10 Calendar has crashed and will not be raised from the dead. It does raise the question where can you find help or solutions?
I brought the phone without a contract, the shop I bought it from doesn't offer technical help, at least not on this.
My carried (EE) doesn't have knowledge of this fault.
Unlike the iPhone there is no equivilent of the Genius Bar, there is nowhere to physically go and see someone. At least not anyone with real insight and experience.
Blackberry themselves don't  seem to have a direct contact, either phone or email.
They do suggest tweeting Blackberry help, I've done this and heard nothing back and it seems a bit hit and miss anyway.
This forum can often provide solutions but I just don't think the software is old enough or there are enough users for every issue to be addressed.
Blackberry would do well to have a helpline, even a premium rate one.

Your mobile provider EE should escalate this issue for your for FREE, to BlackBerry's tier two technical support. If they refuse, you need to press the issue or ask for a supervisor.
There is paid per incident support:  http://uk.blackberry.com/support/programs/technical/incident.html#tab-1
