Q10 doesn't synch ALL my google contacts

Hey there,
I am quite happy with my new Q10 so far.
However, my Google Contacts don't seem to synch all. Some have been synched, some don't. What is the problem here?
Any help is very much appreciated.
Regards,
Nikolaus

Hello niklausthomale.
Welcome to the forums.
Are all of your Google contacts listed under my contacts or do you have some of them sub categorized? If they are sub categorized then they will not sync with your device, only contacts in my contacts will be synced.
Hope this help. Have a good day.

  • Backup Assistant doesn't sync all of my contacts

    Hello,
So about 2 weeks ago, I noticed that all of my messages reverted to just phone numbers. All of my "contacts" were not saved in my phone. I tried using BA to restore all of my contacts, but at the time it only restored 4, which happened to be the BAL, PMT etc.
I have had a few other issues with the phone as well. I have since contacted VZW customer service and they are replacing my phone with a refurbished one (hopefully I get it by the end of this week).
So Tech support told me that somehow my contacts on the BA server got moved to the "trash" bin. I have no idea how that could have happened since, I don't have access to that and only VZW does. Either way, they restored that file and I have gotten most of my contacts back (still missing some). Now when I go to use BA it only backs up 9 contacts and I have almost 200 contacts saved in my phone.
Anyone have any idea as to why BA is not backing up all of my contacts.
I have since learned to export all of my contacts to my SD card and SIM card so that I can restore them from there if I need to.\
    Thanks in advanced.

to further piggy back of of Ann's suggestion - I recommend to store your contacts only with Google.  the VZW backup assistant is not as reliable and not as easily editable.  simply login to your gmail account, and add/edit your contacts there.  they will show up automatically on your phone (provided that you have background data and auto syn turned on).

  • Address Book doesn't have "sync with Google contacts" any more...!!!!!

    Hi Guys
    Hoping someone can help...
I've updated to 10.0.8, and I just have a look at the options under Address Book. There are still options to sync contacts with MobileMe, and Yahoo (and one other, which I can't remember as I'm not at my Mac), but the last one, "sync with Google contacts", has disappeared!
Has anyone else noticed if that has gone? Have Apple decided not to partner with Google any more?
Or does my Address Book just have some kind of bug?
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Sorry... correction... 10.5.8, obviously!!

  • Synching Macbook with Google Contact / Addresslist

I want to sync the Contact list my wife has in her Macbook to the Contact list she has in her Google Gmail.  On my own  computer, a MacBookPro it is able to do this between MY MAC Address list and the one I have in my Google account.
The Help menu on my wife's Mac tells her to go to ADDRESS BOOK on the Mac, Click PREFERENCES, then GENERAL and click the tab that says SYNC WITH GOOGLE.  The only  tabs showing, however, allow her to sync to Yahoo and/or one or two others.   Google is not mentioned.
I'd be grateful if someone could suggest a way to do this.
    Thanks very much

First of all, hi!.,.how are you?.,.
Here’s a few troubleshooting tips you can follow in the event this happens to you.
    Troubleshooting Sync Services for Mac:
Important: Be sure to back up your Address Book and Outlook Contacts before testing any of these Troubleshooting steps.
    Turn on iSync
    1. Launch iSync, located in the Applications > Utilities folder
    2. Open preferences window in iSync Application Menu
    3. Check “Enable syncing on this computer”. Sometimes this option seems to be disabled or you can’t check or uncheck this option after starting iSync. In this case, wait for iSync to complete the sync process and then the option will be available again.
    4. Reset Sync History. Important: If you are using the new MobileMe Calendar, resetting sync data is not an appropriate troubleshooting step to solve calendar sync issues. Instead, please see Troubleshooting new MobileMe Calendar issues. If you’re not sure how to tell if you’re using the old or new MobileMe Calendar.
    Delete Plist Files
    1. Force quit all applications currently running.
    2. Go > Home > Library > Preferences
    3. Search for all files containing “com.microsoft.outlook.XXXXX.plist” drag these files to the Trash
    4. Search for the file “com.microsoft.SyncServicesAgent.plist” and drag this file to the Trash
    5. Start Outlook
    6. Tools > Sync Services and confirm that “Turn on Sync Services for Contacts” is checked on
Close and Re-Start Sync Services Agent
    1. Force Quit Outlook
    2. Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor
    3. Look for the Sync Services Agent under Process Name
    4. Highlight this process and click Quit in the upper left
    5. Close Activity Monitor
    6. Re-Start Outlook
This is also true if you are using Scrubly to clean up your Address Book contacts. You will need to turn on Sync Services inside Outlook to sync your newly cleaned up contacts from Address Book to Outlook Contacts.
I hope this information had helped you =)

  • HT4872 Synching Contacts iOS to Google - contacts not transferring to Google

I have followed these instructions to the letter including re-booting and starting again.  My Contacts are currently on my iOS device but are not being transferred to my Google contacts.  When I open the contacts on iOS, it does not seem to have the turning wheel idicating that it is synching.  My google contacts are empty and my ioS contacts are stubbornly sitting there.  Why is it not transferring?  Could it be the number of contacts that I have?  (2900)   Any help would be most appreciated....

I'm having the same issue! Have you discovered any solution? I just did a fresh reformat and could not for the life of me get my contacts to sync with my MobileMe account. I kept getting an error saying that the data was corrupt. So, I decided to try syncing with google but the option was no longer there.

  • Google Contacts Sync - Syncs ALL Contacts...

iTunes offers the option to use Google for syncing contacts. I logged into Google and trimmed down my contacts list some, then proceeded to sync.
I was surprised to find out that this synced ALL of Google contacts, including the "Suggested Contacts" list - a list compiled by Google, which consists of anyone I have ever replied to.
I suddenly had hundreds of random contacts.
Does restore from backup include Contacts?

  • Z10 does not sync with Google contacts

I've had my Z10 for about a week and am trying to set it up. I am trying, and failing, to replace an Android device with this phone. I used the easy setup for "Email, calendar, and contacts" to link the phone to my gmail/google account. That account has two-step verification enabled and the setup program duly collected the verification code. All three accounts got set up and populated with the latest from google.
But ..... if I make a change via a web browser on my PC (an up-to-date Arch Linux system), those changes simply don't get picked up by the phone, even with the sync interval set to 5 minutes. This is not a matter of not waiting long enough. It's a matter of sync not working. The phone does pick up new email messages arriving and new calendar entries.
If I try to change the sync interval, after the 'save', I'm told that my login credentials were not correct. After one of those episodes, I deleted the 'contact' account and added a new one, this time using the caldev approach under 'advanced settings'. This behaves the same way (except that it requires an application-specific password from Google, rather than honoring the fact that I'd already supplied a valid two-step code). Contacts get loaded as part of the account setup, but no further sync-ing happens.
I've wasted almost an entire day on this. Googling reveals plenty of other people complaining of the same problem and over a two-year time period. You would think that Blackberry, now the 90-pound weakling in the mobile hardware business, would pay careful attention to making their software work correctly with the largest purveyor of email, calendar and contacts. But they haven't.
It's too bad, because this system has a lot to recommend it (I am a retired computer professional and spent almost 50 years of my life developing software and managing large and small software projects and I am confident that I know good stuff when I see it, and much of this system *is* good). But my primary requirement is that the phone be a good organizational tool and if it ignores changes to my contacts, it's useless to me and I will return it and stick with the less elegant, but more functional Android, unless someone has a bright idea for how to fix this.

Well, I tried a workaround: use Link to sync the phone to Outlook. I just want a way to edit contacts with a computer and sync them with the phone, and very occasionally go the other way when circumstances require. You know, like we did with Palms 20 years ago?
What I found was that sync-ing contacts 1 way from device to computer produced no contacts in Outlook. Just utterly frustrated, I called the place where I bought it to try to get some help, they were clueless (and trying to call Blackberry is a waste of time; they won't talk to you unless you have a paid support contract), and so I asked for and got an RMA # and return label.
But still thinking about this, I poked around in the phone and noticed the BBLink accounts for calendar and contacts and thought "can it be that this system, which provides a nicety like Hub, which gives you an integrated, chronological view of *all* your communications -- calls, texts, emails, etc. -- be only sync-ing the BBLink accounts, not the Google accounts?". This is correct, difficult as it is to believe. So I exported my contacts from Google, imported them to Outlook, and did a 1-way sync from the computer to the device, and, mirabile dictu, the contacts showed up in the phone. After about an hour and half. Further synchronizations, done after some cleanup of my contacts were also very slow, though not this slow, since few contacts were actually being transferred in these incremental synchs.
Whoever wrote the synchronization part of Link clearly doesn't understand the concept of complexity of algorithms. (S)he also clearly didn't test this code on a contact data set of any significant size. I have about 1800 contacts. I had about the same number many years ago when I had a Palm that would sync an order of magnitude faster than this Blackberry setup and do so on much slower hardware with a slower communications channel (a serial port).
I also found that two-way synchronization produced some very odd messages, such as telling me that essentially all the contacts were in conflict. I abandoned the idea very quickly of ever trying a two-way sync (again, standard practice with Palms).
Link is clearly a crock, but I think I've coerced it into doing what I need. I have until the end of January to decide whether to keep the Z10, and as I said in my original post, there's a lot I like about this phone. So I will use that time to see if I really have found a workaround for this ridiculous synchronization weak spot.
    Hello,
I`m glad you figured out a way to do what you need to do. I have red before some other people having issues with BB Link and Outlook. I never used Outlook - I prefer Google account, which for me has worked very well, regardless what phone I use. It is true, it can take some time to sync in everything but for me it never took days as others have said.
However, once the huge amount of data is synched to your phone, you don`t need to worry about further time consuming synching.
Are you saying that synching with Google *contacts* works for you? In the sense that after you have the phone loaded up with all your Google contacts, if you make a change to the contacts with a web browser that the change appears in the phone? And vice-versa? Neither of those cases work for me. One wrinkle: I use two-step verification on my Google account. Do you? I am very suspicious that two-step verification is the cause of my issue with contacts synchronization (though, as I said in my original post, email and calendar synch do work).

  • Address Book no longer syncs with google contacts

After my switch to Lion, I'm noticing that my address book no longer syncs with my google contacts??
After I update my contacts in address book, it doesn't show up on google contacts and vice versa.
    Is anyone else exprienceing this?

    ¡¡¡Ok, Something worked for me!!!
I have my address book empty, and then this is what I did:
1- Copy Address book app to downloads (or other folder) just to back it up
    2- Install AppCleaner
3- Drag and Drop address book ap into app cleaner, make sure that it references to several files (all .plist files etc.) If there are no external references then try to drag and drop your backup, do it until you see the rest of references (uncheck address book widget)
4- After press clean in AppCleaner, it will delete everything.
5- Put back your address book app backup into your applications folder
6- Open it and if your are lucky you will see all the contacts again, they were like hidden....
Then I deleted all the contacts again and set up google account in preferences again, after that it syncs fine!!!
    Good Luck!

  • How do I sync Google Contacts groups to iPhone

I have all my Google contacts in different Groups.  I would like to have those same Google contacts groups synced to iPhone Contacts app. I followed instructions to sync iPhone Contacts with my Google account.  All my Google contacts did sync to iPhone but there were no iPhone contact groups created. So I have one huge list of contacts. How do I sync the Google contacts groups?  Thank you

Hi - from the"iPhone 6 User Guide for iOS 8.1",I followed the following steps:
Use your Google contacts: Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, tap your Google account,
    then turn on Contacts.
So I entered Gmail and password. Then withing Contacts app I pressed the Sync link.  Afterwards I've got all contacts in one big list, just not categorized by Google groups.

  • ITunes on Win 7 64 bit will not sync Google Contacts to iPad

This was particularly infuriating for a few solid hours one evening. I had originally synced my iPad to a Macbook Pro. I sold the MacBook, and had to do a warranty swap @ the Apple store with the iPad. This meant I needed to sync my new iPad with iTunes on my desktop, a computer running Windows 7 64 bit. Everything synced up just fine, except iTunes refused to sync my Google Contacts with the iPad. I went through the process again and again, ensuring I was choosing Google Contacts on the Info screen, correctly entering my account info, etc. I would sync, then check the Contacts on the iPad, and nothing.
I was going to call Apple support from work the next day, but just for the heck of it before I did I connected the iPad to my work computer, a Win XP Pro box, and tried to sync the Google Contacts from that copy of iTunes. It worked just fine, and loaded all my Google Contacts on to the iPad. Both my home Win 7 64 box and my work XP box had the most up-to-date version of iTunes at the time (9.1.1 I believe).
Any clue as to why iTunes refuses to sync Google Contacts on Win 7 64? I have to sync through iTunes, since Apple sees fit to only allow one Exchange account in iPhone OS 3.x.x and I have my work email setup as the Exchange account, and thusly cannot setup Gmail as the Exchange account.

Just for the heck of it, I did a factory reset on the iPad again, and gave it another shot on the Win 7 64 machine at home. I uninstalled iTunes, restarted the computer, installed iTunes 9.1.1 64 bit for Windows, and achieved the exact same results: impossible to get iTunes to sync Google Contacts to the iPad. It goes through the motions, but never delivers any contacts to the iPad.

  • Google Contacts sync - Contacts created on phone not being sent to Google

    Hello,
I have setup my contacts with my Google account, and I can see all my Google contacts on my Z3 compact. If I create a contact in Google contacts, I will see it on my Z3.
However, if I create a contact on my mobile phone, it isn't being sent to Google. For the life of me, I can't see any options or setting to send new phone contacts to Google, either manually or automatically.
Shouldn't a sync work both ways? On my last phone this "just worked".
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

I am new to apple.  I cannot populate the Contacts

Thanks Meg, this works, at least in part.  Now the Contacts app populated, but only with 99 contacts, hardly all of them.  Do you know how to get all my Google contacts to sync?
Also, should I delete the Gmail account I had previously set up on the iPad now that I have set up as an Exchange account?
