Q10 Email

Hi
I have two questions:
1. I have just setup my email with IMAP. How many Emails does the Q10 show in the hub in general? Is there a limitation of number of emails?
2. Do I have access to all my emails on the server? When I try to find an email through "search" it doesn't find it.

1. No limitation. At setup you should have been given a choice of how many days to sync mail, 10, 30, 90, etc., but that will vary according to your email server.

Q10 Email Issues

On a regular basis email for one of my (4) different work email address will quit working on the Q10. The others work fine (all have same POP configurations with of course different log in credentials). I reboot it and it will work again for a couple hrs or occasionally days. I have reviewed the email settings and I can't find anything out of place. Blackberry user for over 15 years and have never had this issue until going to this phone. I came from the Bold which never experienced this issue at all. Email is through a domain that I own for my business. Account is set up as POP. Any idea what might cause this? Solution??

I also have a user with this problem.
He got the Q10 this pass weekend. It has been working ok until last night. Here is what I have observed:
- Open the email to view it, click any of the (Reply, Reply to All or Forward) icons, a new window opens with the To/CC/Subject info, cannot type a message in the body of the email (but can type in the To/CC/Subject fields). Also noticed there is no thread reflected in the body. He has two email accounts that show the same behaviour (Yahoo & Exchange ActiveSync).
- Workaround - If you press and hold the email (in the list view), Options from the right of the screen appear, click on the Reply icon from there and a new windows opens that will let you type in the body and it displays the thread. This will let you reply to the emails.
- The only way this cleared up was by shutting down the device and restarting it. Not an acceptable solution.
A quick Google search shows many others with this problem in this and Crackberry forums. This seems like an OS problem. Hopefully Blackberry can recognize this as a real issue.

Q10 email search issues

My husband has a Q10 and I have a Z10. We both use these same email address with the same settings on the accounts. He has been trying to search in emails for messages sent by a certain contact who regularly sends messages, and the search only goes back one week. I can search on my Z10 and it finds many more emails from the same contact and goes back months of emails. I have tried to search other contacts on the Q10 and some work while others only go back one week. Any ideas how to solve this? Should I try to delete the email account and set it up again?

This can depend on several different things. It depends on the type of email account and the type of integration it offers. Some email accounts have the ability to sync emails "forever" or "30 days", "7 days" etc. However, in some of these accounts this can only be setup when initially adding the account.
Deleting the account and adding it back may allow you to sync mail back further. I caution on using 'forever" as that could be a lot of emails and take a long time to sync.

Q10 email deletion off of server

My emails on my Blackberry Q10 when I delete them on my phone it also deletes them off the server. There is no option to stop this. This is causing me real problems. It was OK on the old software but not on the 273 software.

Q10 emails on device and computer

Having previously had the 9320, when emails were received an email would be entered on both the phone and computer I used. However with the Q10 it only goes onto the phone. Is there something I need to do to either the Blackberry Link or the actual phone settings?

Q10 email send out is slow and easy get the phone heat to kill the battery life

I was happy to get the BB Q10 form day one even pay neary $6000. After that I feel I'm stupid of my choose.
They have ton of problem which I'm not expect will happen on today BB.
1) email sent out is quite long and time spend than any BB bold . That's mean when I using roaming, I need to pay more than double cost to send out my email.
2) if attachment over 2M size, it taken almost 1 min sent out, some time is longer than that. !!!
3) poor receiver, that's terrible receiver compare with HTC, Phone and Samsung. This is direct inference the data transmission.
4) stupid function on touch screen for copy and paste ! Why BB delete that function on key pad on Q10 ?? The user take Q10 instead of Z10 because they like the keypad function instead of finger touch. This is command sense, otherwise they don't need Q10 anymore ! I have no idea what Q10 designer thinking ?

Legacy BBOS used BIS, BB10 does not. In some regions pricing plans with BIS enabled nearly unlimited data when using BIS as the data channel. Since BIS is not in play, the normal data channel is used, incurring whatever fees are dictated by your subscription plan (which is a matter between you and your mobile service provider).

BIS provided some compression as well as a somewhat dedicated data channel. The generic data plan has neither of those, and hence is subject to whatever issues may exist on that (network congestion, etc.).

I do not understand this one..."receiver" is not descriptive enough to help understand what you intend to communicate.

Consider it this way -- nothing was deleted from the past. Rather, BB10 is a totally new OS, built from the ground up. Many of us would have preferred that the designers took into account many of the legacy features and functions, but alas they did not. But that does not mean anything was deleted, for BB10 is totally new...it is NOT an evolution from legacy BBOS.

Can anyone advise on how to create BB email id ( example XYZ @ gloworld.blackberry.com / [email protected] ) on Q10.

There is no longer use of the former blackberry.net domain emails.
Emails are not 'forwarded' to the device but rather 'synced' from the email account itself.

Q10 email account settings

I have a Blackberry Q10. I have set up my emails and it was working great. Then it reset the incomming & outgoing server to mail.bigpond.com. I have rest the setting twice now and it keeps reverting back. I am saving changes. What do I need to do to stop it resetting itself.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From that description, it sounds like you first used the automatic wizard to configure your email account, then tried to change what was in that configuration. Instead, you should remove and re-create brand new your email configuration, and if you need to do anything different than the automatic wizard would do, use the manual methodology and, while initially configuring the email account, provide all of the settings manually.
If you are not sure what the settings are to use, you can use the Email Validation Tool to provide them to you:

Q10 Email Contact Cache

I have mistyped an email address on my Q10 now everytime i go to send an email to the correct address it pulls up a cached version of the wrong email address and i cannot delete it i have tried to press and hold the email address and see if a delete option comes up but it doesnt anybody no how i can remove this email address from my cache

For what it is worth, I have also run across this issue and tried :

Cache Cleaner free
None of them cleaned the email contacts cache.
I was in a position to do a security wipe, but having to spend 1 hour to do something that used to be a single menu entry is not really a good solution. This really needs to be added BBOS.

Q10 email signature returns to default

Hi!
The email signature on my Q10 persistantly returns to the default setting. Any ideas?

I have the same problem for all my emails accounts. Blackberry tech support told me that it was hardware issue. I am waiting for a new phone. Have solved the issue? If yes please let me know how.

Q10 email issue

I'm hong kong user and using Q10 over two weeks. But probably hong kong still not yet launch this product.
I can added my email account included personal account and company mail account. However lot of mail are missing in in-box and sub folder. I did tried to remove my account and add it back but no luck.
Did anyone had the same issue like I had?

Q10 email problem

One of the MOST annoying items that changed in BB10 is the inability to delete an email on my phone only and NOT on my work PC at the same time. My Bold Touch always gave me the message, "Delete on Handheld Only or Delete on Handheld and PC" (or something like that). This is very, very, very inconvenient for managing my email. Has anyone found a work around on this?

I am connecting through ActiveSync. I do not believe I have a BES10 system (honestly, I am not even sure I know exactly what that means but I assume you mean a BB enterprise system?). I called BB and they said that an enterprise system would not help. The phone controls this and it does not have the ability to manage the deletion like the Bold touch.

Q10 no syncing properly with MS Hosted Exchange server

Hello,
I have a Q10 and my email is via MS Hosted Exchange server. On my PC via Outlook 2010 all is great, via the web interface all is great. Current send/receive emails are synced properly, my calendar and notes/reminders are great.
My issue is my folder tree within the Q10 email environment doesn't display all of my folders. As emails come in I file them by customer to help with Inbox clutter...
I don't have a storage issue on the Q10. Any thoughts? Is there a max folder number setting somewhere?
If there is info on this somewhere, I couldn't find it...

Try to use FQDN of Cas server in URL and Add CASADMIN into all the three Exchage Roles: Recipient Management; View Only Organization Management; and Server
Management. Enabled the Windows Authentication on Exchange CAS Server for /powershell in IIS.

Partial upload of file

I just installed DSL on a new macbook, system OSX 10.4.8, and
updated software using Apple’s Software update. Then I tried
to upload one of my HTML files to my website using Dreamweaver MX
2004. It connected to my site, started to upload the file, then I
got the message that an FTP error occurred.
Error message states, “An FTP error occurred; cannot
put rosaries.htm. Dreamweaver ecountered an internal data error.
Please try operation again."
My rosary page online is now GONE. Plus, when I go to see my
remote files, there is nothing there, just an empty folder.
On contacting my site’s hosting service they can upload
files to it, and I can see all the files using FTP. However, the
rosary.html page is empty. Any ideas?

How can I forward an SMS as an email , i have doing this daily on 9900, surprised to miss this on Q10, i am ready to buy an 3rd party app also, if required, it is must for me.

1. when i read an sms, there is option to forward as email in 9900.
Since i am using Q10, i can not do this.

2. Further, i can not sms from contacts screen. There is no option to sms , when i select a contact. I have to go to SMS and there type contact name , how can i enable this?
3. If i receive a call and i want to send sms to the person, i can not tap on called no and choose and option to sms him. I have to copy that number, go to SMS app and use that no to sms. If i am in a meeting , it is long process and kill focus in meeting. In android, there is one swipe to reject call and send an sms that i am in meeting. Can we achieve this basic features in Q10..

I can forward a SMS as an email on my Q10.
open the SMS and hold down on the text, this opens a side menu with the "share" icon on it (like a Y),
Then you can select how you want to share, eg SMS, Email BBM etc.
