hi everyone...
kindly help me .. my bb Q 10 maps is showing in arabic language. i tried many things but still its in arabic.
wen i bought it it was showing in English..
can any one help me how to change the display language of the map from arabic to english ?

What country are you currently located in? While in Maps swipe from the top and choose Settings. Open Units of Measure and click on Change Device Settings and then change your language.

Showing correct arabic on flash object

Hi,
I am retrieving some English and Arabic content from my xml files and these content coming to my flash object. the xml files for English and Arabic are separate. the English is showing fine but Arabic is not showing correct as its showing separate Arabic alpha bates (not merge together)
and the same Arabic content from xml is showing on my web page correctly because I am using special meta tag for my web page (<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />) and for xml I m using (<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>) but Arabic still not showing correctly on flash object
I need to show correct Arabic on flash object as well as webpage please help me about it

Isn't that a relative link ?

There are two types of relative:
1) site root relative
Always relative to the site root (top level) folder. Starts with a forward slash
/mapa/ammap/ammap.swf = start at top folder in website then find folder named mapa, etc
2) document relative
Relative to the file/folder (or document) in which the link is found
../mapa/ammap/ammap.swf = from this file, GO UP one level then find the mapa folder, etc
../../mapa/ammap/ammap.swf = from this file, GO UP two levels then find the mapa folder, etc
../../../ = go up 3 levels etc

Oracle Reports 10.1.2.3 output shows question marks, parameter form shows correct Arabic

Following is our environment
Oracle Application Server     10.1.2.3.0
Microsoft Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2
Oracle Database 11.2.0.2.0
NLS_LANG     AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256
When client runs the report on browser (IE), the parameter form appears fine with Arabic characters.
Inserting the parameters in Arabic also look fine and characters display in Arabic but when report is generated, the output shows the inserted parameters as ????
On server, regional settings are ALL Arabic. Also the registry has NLS_LANG setting of AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256.
Report output is same for both html and pdf formats. For PDF subetting, uifont.ali file has been modified but the issue does not seem to be PDF related since the html format reports also shows ???
It is a 3 tier setup hence there is no question of having NLS_LANG registry settings for client PCs that are running Windows OS with Arabic regional settings that match the server.
Interestingly, the same report when run from a different application server having same architecture runs fine. The other application server has exact same version of OAS. Database supports Arabic and is configured as such.I tried comparing the different configuration files on both servers but apparently I cannot find the place where I should change something for the reports to show correct Arabic.

I think you misunderstood me. I understand that it is all volunteer work and I never said I was looking for "quick" or "sure" response. I did not even use the words IMMEDIATE or URGENT in my post. I found it strange because I personally believe that there are many volunteers providing great support to others and yet my post somehow went unnoticed. In my personal opinion, however, if you do not wish to reply then you should just ignore rather than being rude. No one can force anyone to do the good work that people are doing here at oracle forums and they are all doing this out of choice. Let me also assure you that me and people like myself really appreciate their efforts.
Having said that, I wish you had taken time to read about my issue. There is infact a registry setting that specifies the NLS_LANG and it is already set under both Infrastructure and Middle Tier in the registry. I mentioned it earlier. The value is AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256 and I believe this is correct for Arabic characters.
What is confusing for me is the fact that if browser was not capable of showing Arabic characters then the static Arabic words in the reports layout (field name for instance) would also show as garbage or question marks. They appear to be fine. Since we are just passing some parameters in Arabic language and not saving anything in the database, the DB characterset does not come into play for now. Although the DB characterset is also set to store Arabic data. We are displaying the parameters that we are passing through the parameter form in the output of the report and this is where we see question marks (????).
Finally, if it was a browser issue or a DB characterset issue, then in my limited knowledge, I believe that the report that we are running using the other Application Server that is pointing to the same database should also show the same behaviour. That is not the case as it displays the same report perfectly. Client machine is the same in both cases using Windows 7 and IE as browser.

Above URLs are examples. The point I am trying to make here is that the issue has to be with the new application server and it cannot be registry settings as I have double checked the entry and it exists in all Oracle Homes ie Infrastructure and Middle Tier. So maybe it is some configuration file setting that I am missing here.

The information side-bar from iPhoto has been removed in Photos App, and so it's been converted into a pop-up window showing both the exposure, aperture and so technical photo parameters, as well as the comments, faces and LOCATION for that photo.
This small floating window is shown whenever you click the button in the app title bar, right clicking a specific photo or pressing ⌘i
If you open the albums view (clicking in the name of the album list, NOT an album name, you can see in your left sidebar - which can be shown or hidden) and press ⌘i without selecting a specific photo the Info pop-up will show the map for your whole library (as well as the total amount of photos, videos, GB used, etc)
So, I'm afraid the "Locations" view (which I really loved) from iPhoto has been ripped off... and we can only get "some sort of locations view" by this method.
As for locations... there is no option for manual geotagging (so, setting location to a specific photography which doesn't have it yet)... that really ****** me off

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Do you have a WiFi only iPad?
If yes, go to another site, like say a Starbucks, connect to their internet and click on the arrow to show your location. If it is correct then your router is reporting incorrect information. Wait and the database will eventually be updated.

Thank you so much for those details. I do see that the area should have pretty good coverage. Since you have been at home have you been able to remove the sim card for a good 10-15 seconds http://vz.to/1ys6Uj0? Also, please try resetting the network settings on the phone. You can do that by going into Settings, General, Reset, and Reset Network Settings. After this is complete you would need to re-add in your wi-fi passwords. Please keep us posted.

MacBook Pro 15 (Late 2013) - OS X Parental Control Account keep showing in Arabic language!

Hello,
I brought MacBook Pro 15 (late 2013) at local Apple Store. After setting up Mac, I observed that in Parental Controls, the default account name is showing in Arabic language. I verified Mac language settings and are set to English.
No 3rd party apps installed except Microsoft Office, Adobe Flash Player and VLC Media Player.
Is this new kind of malware?

Maps shows incorrect postal code

The maps app shows an incorrect postal code for my address. It is showing the one for the block next to my house - maybe it's because I live on a corner lot. Is there any way this can be fixed? Google maps shows the correct postal code.

I am trying to use "remind me at a location" in the "Reminders" app. I have two choices for my home location: one with my correct street address and incorrect postal code, and one with another address in the neighbourhood that uses the same postal code (which is correct for that street address). I don't think there should be two addresses, but, nevertheless, I choose the one that has my street address and incorrect postal code. The reminder does not alert me.
I have contaced the map developers through "report a problem" in the app, but they must get many reports, so who knows how long it will take to correct the problem if they can even do it!

Ovi maps shows wrong mileage

I have been using Ovi maps for 18months & find it frustrating in that it seems to show a mileage as the straight line route.
I have just done a trip of 140 miles, Ovi maps shows it as 97milers, Google maps shoes it as 140.
How can I get it to show the road mileage.

I think that maybe DIYISFUN is talking about the distance from the current location to a POI. For instance, if I do a search for nearby restaurants, Ovi Maps shows the geographyical distance (the distance as a straight line) of each restaurant and not the route distance. The real route distance is only showed after the route is calculated.
If that is DIYISFUN complain, almost every navigation systems behave in the same way Nokia Maps do, I mean, they allways show the geographycal distance to POIs and only show the route distance after a route is calculated.

I have the issue with Maps, from the time i bot it. I have the map of UAE in my E72, when ever i search any place, the result shows only in Arabic. I need the search reasult in English. My phone language is English. I tried several time reinstallations of maps as well.. Pls somebody help me to make the search result available in English. That will a BIG help!!!

Adobe Presenter panel shows garbage Arabic strings

Hi,
We are working on a localizing some PPTX files into Arabic and publishing them using Adobe Presenter (SCORM output).
After publishing in Adobe Presenter, we tried to view the course using Internet Explorer, we found that some strings on the course's right panel appear as junk characters.
Viewing the same course using another browser (Google Chrome), completely shows all strings.
Is there any fix that can be done to ensure all Arabic strings are properly shown?

Thank you for your suggestion.
The machine we've used has Arabic language pack installed in it.
The machine was booted to Arabic locale too prior to publishing the course.
However, these did not solved the issue at all.
What we found as resolution is to manually fix on the xml file and declare the language for the course.
One thing that we are now trying to resolve is the Notes section of the published course where the content are not flipped (right-to-left) correctly.
Is Arabic (including Hebrew) going to be fully supported for Adobe Presenter?

Why doesn't IOS Maps show a map any more?

So, when I was stuck in New York city for five days last week, I wound up using the new IOS maps app for the first time, on my iphone 4.
It worked fine for a day or two... then, for some reason, it stopped loading maps.
It would show a blue dot where I'm at, and little traffic warnings would appear, but no streets, no nothing.
If I tell it to load satellite views, that works fine, but regualr maps doesn't.
Now that I'm finally back home in LA, it's still doing the same thing.
I've manually closed the app, and done a hard reboot on the phone, and it still does the same thing.
Seriously, having a map app that stops working when you're stranded in a strange city with a hurricane barrelling down on you and you're trying to walk from your power-out old hotel to a new one was no fun...

Sorry I thought you meant that you just closed (suspended) the app. Unfortunately I haven't heard of this problem before and haven't seen and KB articles on troubleshooting maps. If closing Maps, then restarting the phone didn't fix it, guess I would make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it.
