Q10 Sync was Unsuccessful

Please help, I can not find any information on the following error message when trying to sync my calendar/contacts from/to Outlook and the Q10.
"Sync was unsuccessful" "An error occurred during an attempt to access a device database record".
I can't find any information on how to fix this.

I can not sync my contacts and calendar anymore, it was working but just stopped. The error message is Sync was unsuccessful. An error occurred during an attempt to access a device database record.

same here, i have the same problem. everytime i connect my Q10 to PC using USB cable, it will sync media, but will get "Sync was Unsuccessful" message while sync outlook contact and calender. It was successful to sync the first time after install the updated link but never sync again. I am using Windows 8 on my PC

Q10 sync to Link to Outlook 2007

I am running a Q10 with software revision 10.2.1.2102, OS is 10.2.1.2141
Desktop is i7, 32 GB running Windows 7 Professional Service pack 1 which is up to date
App I am trying to sync is Outlook 2007 with 950 contacts. I am ignoring the calendar for now. I use Outlook with no address field modifications. Basically bought it and populated it.
Q10 is plugged in and Link appears operational. Under "Contacts and Calendar. I am "unchecking" calendar and "Checking" contacts and configuring contacts for "one way sync to my device"
I am not syncing any documents or pictures or music and virus protection is disabled
I click "sync "Contacts/Calendar" at 10:20:00
"Syncing your contacts and calendar appointments. Do not disconnect your device."
Message "getting status from Blackberry Address Book" appears and it immediately leaps to half way on the status bar and it sits for 1:45 and then the indicator runs up and downs for a while under the getting status. After a further 45 secs (10:22:30) it switches to Getting status info from Outlook contacts.
It stays like this for about 3 minutes and then that message switches at 10:25:25 to "Preparing sync preview" and the blue bar is fully extended
at 10:32:05 it switches to another message. I missed it as it was there for 5 secs and is now at "Preparing sync Preview" with blue bar fully extended. at 10:33:00 updating Blackberry address book data
at 10:34:04 writing to address book data or a quick message like that.
at 10:34:08 it returns to main Sync Contacts and Calendar appts display window
Error message... sync was unsuccessful - failed to commit changes to device
Simple one way write. 14 minutes and failed on writing to device. Times are off by a few secs as I was typing and scanning windows

Q10 Syncing Issues with Link - Multiple Folders on PC

Q10 SQN100-2, running OS 10.1.0.2011. Link version is 1.1.1.20.
There have been several attempts to sync pictures, videos & music. All have failed. I have security wiped the device twice, and reinstalled link once. This is my second Q10, having returned the first. Q10 name was changed a few times across hat process. My last wipe today also included installation of brand new Micro SD. My only possible thought is that is appears that the folders from previous associations & installs are still there -but have not been able to delete. Also, username directory on desktop shows different folders to the Library directory on dsktop.
NEED HELP PLEASE! I'm at my wits end.

Just to clarify, have you been following the steps listed here to synchronize your media? If so, at which stage of this process are you experiencing the issue? Can you please provide us any error messages you may be receiving. Also, please provide us screenshots if possible so we can better assist.

I Synced two of my computers and the Sync was interrupted and now I don't have all the tabs I wanted transferred. How do I redo the Sync? I've clicked the Sync Now button several times and nothing seems to happen.

I Synced two laptops, mostly to transfer several tab groups open in one to the other. While the Sync was in progress, the Options window started to vibrate. After a while, I closed the window and then Firefox. After restarting Firefox, I found that only a few tabs and little of the history had been transferred. I clicked the Sync Now button, on both devices, but nothing further has happened so far.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?

If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:

On your iMac launch iTunes and at the top next to the Apple symbol click iTunes > Preferences > Devices and tell me what you see. You last sync should be there showing only a device name. If you have an older backup it will be there as well the difference is it will be the device name with a date and time stamp. Sync and backups are two different things and there is a chance iTunes made a backup the first time you hooked up your iPhone 5.

When I recorded a vocal track 3 hours ago, it recorded perfectly. The syncing was perfectly in time with the rest of the song. I just came back to start working on it again, and it's completely off beat. What gives?

Also, I'd forgotten about this problem until just now, when I extend a loop (for instance, to play 2x instead of just one) it plays a phantom 3rd time. What I mean by this, is there's no track to tell garage band to play it a 3rd time, but it does anyway. If I copy paste the loop, it doesn't do it. I've got no idea what to do with this one. I'd really appreciate a quick response as I'm in the middle of a recording project :/

this may happen, if you accidentally turn on Auto Quantize for the track in the track editor, also "follow tempo and pitch" may cause it. Have you checked the settings?
As to your strange loop: is it a software instrument loop or a real instrument loop you are talking about?
If it is a software instrument loop you can look at it in the track editor and delete any extra beats that are revealed by looping. That sometimes happens if there are long notes at the end of the loop.

PC Sync was unable to locate your Outlook message ...

I recently installed PC suite on my PC. I am trying to sync with Outook MS exchange. So far, I have been unable to do so. I receive a "PC Sync was unable to locate your Outlook message store" error message. By searching this board, it appears that this is a fairly common problem. I have tried several of the workarounds discussed here:
1) unisntall / re-install software - no luck
2) create another mail profile - no luck
3) sync to non MS exchange Outlook datafiles - no luck
At this point, I'm thinking of giving up on ever getting PC suite to work.
A few details:
E71x phone
PC suite 7.1.40.1
The PC has Outlook 2003 and I use an MS exchange mail server
I have never had any nokia products on it prior to my attempts.
Connecting via USB (no errrors or problems reported with this)
Does anyone have a bonafide solution for this? This really sounds like buggy software to me.

OK, since I haven't seen an answer to this problem, I decided to dig further.
1) Nokia makes another software called OVI suite. It is supposed to replace PC Suite
2) I went to the nokia usa website. No compatability is lised for the E71x.
3) When I went to the europe site, there was so I downloaded v2.0 from there
4) installed it and it works great! Can sync to outlook using MS Exchange
In short, dump your PC suite and go to get OVI Suite. For some reason, more phones are listed as compatabile if you download it from the europe site here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/nokia-ovi-suite

To solve this issue, I have to hold the "home" + "off" button to restart the phone. Afterwhich, it will restart the phone. However, although my stuff are still on the phone, all my sms are gone.
Can someone please assist urgently.
My data was transferred from another iphone 3GS which is running an IOS 4.0.1 to another 3GS running ios 5.0.1

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

Controlling how often my Q10 syncs with my Gmail account

I cannot seem to control how often my Q10 syncs with my Gmail account. I have adjusted the settings for Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts several times, but it seems to pull the emails frequently (within an hour) regardless of the setting. I want to control the syncing manually. What am I missing? The phone is brand new and unlocked, running on AT&T, and this happens regardless of whether I am using WiFi or not.

A few possible variables...
1) What do you have set for "Use Push if Available"
2) How exactly is GMail integrated? EAS? IMAP? POP?
If the answer to item 1 is yes AND you have GMail integrated as IMAP, then the time interval setting is ignored. If integrated as EAS, it may also be ignored as well as the "Use Push..." setting might also be ignored. If integrated as POP, then there is no Push, so your time interval settings would be utilized.
So, depending on the combination of factors, it may or may not be doing exactly now what it should be.

Help BB Q10 - syncing with windows 7 contacts

I've just bought a BB Q10 (for me) AND a BB Z10 (for she who must e obeyed) Both are set up to sync via BB link (1.1.1.41) with windows 7 contacts on our respective laptops. The Z10 sync's without any problem BUT the Q10 will not sync and comes up with the error code of 2511 'error converting Unicode string to or from code page string'. A web search says this is a known fault and that a fix is on its way BUT this was dated March 2013. Does anyone know of a fix OR when the BB fix will be available?

For my Z30...
I received the error code 5211 when attempting my first sync with BBLink and my Z30. My data file included about 1400 contacts so I took a stab at parsing the task. Rather than trying to synch the entire contact list I broke the task down to blocks of 117 and completed the task over multiple syncs. I also suspected a mapping error so in conjunction with the "sync-in-nibbles" technique I also remapped some questionable fields that I thought may be confusing the process. I don't know if both or just one of these was the remedy but I did get the sync completed and subsequent syncs have been trouble free.
A caveate to the above....which may or may not apply to your situation.
BBLink would not recognize Outlook, ie, Outlook was not offered as a sync option via BBlink. I was offered only Windows Contacts as a sync option and this folder is typically empty. So, to skirt this problem I exported my Outlook Contacts as CSV to an intermediate folder. I then imported the CSV file into Windows Contacts which, during the import, converted the CSV file into 1400 individual x.contact records. I then used BBLink to sync my Z30 with the Windows Contact folder and transferred all contacts to the Z30 without a hitch. To verify that contacts modified on the Z30 would update in Outlook, I performed another sync with Windows Contacts. I verified that the changes did xfer and new contacts were added to Win Contacts as expected. Next, I exported the Windows Contact files to a new Folder as a CSV file. I then used Outlook to import the CSV file and I verified that the edits made on the Z30 did appear in Outlook. Sync Complete! Whew! Its really not that bad to perform once I had a process tuned.
I purge the Windows Contact folder before importing each new CSV file. Actually, I simply move thm to a purgatory folder until I am sure I no longer need them then I purge.
Windows Contacts is available with Vista and Win 7.
For all you folks who have Win 7 or Vista and can't sync with Outlook, try the above process using Windows Contacts. Hope it eases the pain.

Q10 sync queries - calendar only

Trying to use the q10 more efficiently...:
Is it possible to sync only/only the calendar or only/only contacts, but not both at the same time?
With the old Curve, I was able to select to sync only the calendar or only the contacts but BB Link seems to force us to sync both calendar and contacts. I want to be able to choose to sync only the calendar. Grateful if someone could tell me what I am missing ....

Click Contacts/Calendar.
If this is the first time you have connected your device to BlackBerry Link, click Configure to select the Microsoft Outlook account you want to sync with.

If you want to sync additional folders, click the Add Folder icon.

Q10 sync with Microsft Outlook

To replace my Tourch 9800, I bought a Q10 when they first came out, but I had to return it when I could not get it to sync with Outlook. (Unless I had and enterprose Server - which I don't). I understand that there is now Link software that will allow daily sync with Outlook Calendar and Contacts but I cannot find how I can sync Outlook Notes as I currently do on my 9800. Questions: Will Link allow me to sync a Z10 with Microsoft Calendar, Contacts and Notes (it may be called Remember now) as requied?

please fix the q10 so it can sync outlook notes and tasks - a very important feature!

I find it shocking that this "issue" has still not been resolved. Why do you keep giving people reasons to switch? Tasks and notes are integral to many people's BB experience...
