Q190 and TV

My Q190 HDMI is connected to my Onkyo AVR and output to my Sharp TV hdmi. I noticed that the image was overscan with the resulting icons being partially hidden. I tried Graphics Options and Properties with no luck. The TV is 1080p i.e. 1920X1080. The Q190 is the same resolution 1920X1080. I even used custom scaling to match the images to no success. The Q190 is running Win 8.1 64 bit but that should not be of any consequence. I would appreciate if any other owner of the Q190 has this problem or it is only me. The Onkyo is set to passthrough so no video processing was involved.

Hi husky55!
Check the user manual for your Sharp TV and make sure you are set up for PC viewing - the crucial item you are looking for is the "just scan", "dot by dot", or similar setting.
Hope this helps!

  • Q190 and Lenovo Solution Center Software

Is the latest available Solution Center Software compatible with--or intended to be used on--the Q190 "entertainment" PC?  My version says I need a driver update, bu they are all current.
The only download source I can find within Lenovo does not list the Q series computers as compatible--yet an earlier verson of SC came preloaded on the machine.
    Thanks for any available insight.

    Hi Z34jcm,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to inform you that the LSC (Lenovo Solution Center) is not available for Q190 Desktop. Below is the link to download the compatible version of LSC, while installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error:
    Lenovo Solution Center for Windows 8.1 (64-bit), 8 (64-bit), 7 (64-bit) - Desktops, Notebooks, WorkS...
Do post us back if the issue still persists.

  • Q190 and Windows 8.1

I've not figured out how to request support from Lenovo for my windows 8.1 issues so I thought I'd try to raise it here.
It seems that the drivers that are listed on the downloads page as being for 8.1 might not have been tested. The WiFi driver just plain doesn't work. The video driver just throws an error saying that the hardware doesn't meet the minimum requirements. But the best one is the Intel rst driver which actually makes the machine blue screen after booting.
All these are listed as being windows 8.1 drivers for the q190.
    What's all that about then?
Where can I actually get decent video drivers. The ones installed are terrible for running flash video

Any progress on this? Where can I get a decent video driver. Video was fine on 8.0. On 8.1 sound is out of sync with flash video! What to do?

  • HDMI Audio not working on Q190 (along with all higher level Audio Formats)

Help, I have been given the run around via support, I cannot get the HDMI audio to work with my Pioneer Surround Sound, only the Intel display audio shows in control panel (Win 8 X64) and the RealteK S/P Dif port and it is not capable of supporting 7.1 sound or bitstreaming or DTS, Dolby HD, Etc. Tec support appears not capable of fixing the issue and wanted to send me to software support and pay. I have only had the machine for 4 days and it has never supported higher level sound.
Every other device I have (had or currently) connected to the receiver works just fine. I have to figure this out or return the machine, the audio is the most important aspect for me. Besides when you advertise 7.1 support the machine you sell should be able to do it.

    Hey guys,
I have had this Q190 with the Celeron CPU since last week and I am using XBMC Frodo and the HDMI is connected to my AVR Onkyo TX-NR809 and from the Onkyo to the TV. And the sound is 7.1 with PLIIZ. It works fine. I think it may be some driver problem because Realtek Audio which is in the Q190 works fine with the Win8 preinstalled. Realtek is kind of bad with driver because I lost my wifi after upgrading to Win 8.1. After a few days with no wifi, I found out that the driver was bad, yes it was a Realtek wifi driver but posted by Lenovo for W 8.1.
I have another friend who also just bought the Q190 and he reported no audio problem so I think it is just a matter of trouble shooting the drive and configuration. I do love the form factor of the Q190.

  • IdeaCentre Q190 Wifi problem, Win 7 Pro 32, 64b

I bought a couple of Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 and all have a problem with Wifi.
The operating system is Windows 7 Professional SP1 32b and 64b.
    I downloaded the official drivers Realtek 8188EE Wifi for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Version: 2007.2.0720.2012.
The installation went well, the computer is "hooked" on a wireless network, but it is not possible to open any web page. Various things I've tried (I do not even know what I tried everything) and some up and running and some not.
Another situation is to work on a Wifi router when it is moved to a different location with different wifi router, then again will not work.
Install any USB Wifi and it works perfectly.
So far I have installed several thousand machines and never had a situation like this.

    hi MarkoG,
    Welcome to the Forums.
    Can you try to:
    1. Install version 2010.9.0906.2013 from station drivers:
    2. When done updating the drivers, open the wireless card properties under Device Manager > Network Adapters > Advanced Tab and set the following :
    Roaming Aggressiveness = High
    Transmit Power = Maximum
    Source driver
    Hope this helps

  • Q190 Windows Media Center Missing

Hello I just recived my new q190 and it is missing Windows media Center which a sales person on chat told me was included and the photo on the product page shows the device running. I am unable to locate this application or a activation code for it in the packaging
Also the device came with windows 8 when the "tech specs" page stated it came with windows 7 pro 64, which would have included windows media center.
This HTPC is useless with out WMC.

    hi EvanB,
If your model is included in this pdf data sheet then you most likely have a Windows 8 standard machine. In order to get the Windows Media Center, you will need to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center. Using a Windows 8 Pro Pack allows you to achieve this. If you specifically ordered a Ideacentre Q190 with WMC via shop.lenovo.com, have you tried giving them your order number to see if the Windows 8 Pro Pack is included in the purchase?
Alternatively, check XBMC as other users find it as a good alternative to WMC,

  • Ubuntu 14.04 install on Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 replacing Windows 8.1

I just purchased a Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 and would like to replace Windows 8.1 with Ubuntu 14.04. As this is a secure boot machine, is there anything I need to watch out for besides disabling secure boot? I seem to remember that there is a boot partition that I need to leave alone (?) Is there a Lenovo tool installed that can save a copy of the drive as an image? I have already saved a copy of the system to a USB stick. There seem to be some issues in connection with installing Ubuntu 14.04 (booting, wifi, bluetooth) is there an overview of the install issues for the Q190 somewhere?
    Any advice appreciated.

If you are looking to entirely replace Windows on your drive, you can overwrite the entire drive, boot partition and all...
    BUT...
Since you seem to want to preserve your Windows installation, you can make your life a lot easier in the long-run by simply getting another hard disk drive and swapping it out for the one which you currently have installed. (If I understand correctly, the Q190 only supports one HDD at a time)
Then you can install Ubuntu on the empty drive and not have to worry about writing a massive .iso,
testing a massive .iso and at some point in the future trying to re-install a massive .iso.
Here's a link to the user manual:
    http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop_pub/lenovo_ic_q190_ug_v1.0_win8_en_r_online_20130320.pdf
On page 31 it explains the BIOS options. Doing a UEFI Linux install is still quite unintuitive, though there are a few threads and video tutorials out there. If you're planning on using Linux, right now I would suggest good old legacy style.
An overview of Ubuntu install issues is a pretty tall order for any machine. External wifi and bluetooth dongles are generally a problem, though the problems are often remedied after finishing all of the recommended updates.
I could add more advice, but it will help if I know more about what you want from your machine.

Hi ilir1992, welcome to the forum.
    See this thread:

You should you run the Lenovo system update, that you can download here:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_IN/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?LegacyDocID=TVSU-UPDATE
It may not find any package for your system, however: after it bombs out, and you close the app, it will get rid of the warning "!" on the interface.

  • Q190 unable to get video from HDMI

I originally set up my Q190 using VGA out to the monitor. After purchasing a HDMI to DVI cable and connecting it, I have been unable to get any video to display on the monitor via the HDMI port. I have rebooted several times, checked every setting I can find, no luck so far.

    hi wsmithjr,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
If you're using a flat panel monitor (that usualy has a VGA connector and a single link DVI D digital interface), did you bought an HDMI to single link DVI-D converter? Also, can you try to scan for hardware changes under the device manager to identify the monitor that's connected to the HDMI to DVI-D converter.
    Let me know your findings

  • Q190 USB Port Power

I have had a Q190 for about a month. In spite of the reviews/comments that I have seen on the Q180, I am greatly satisfied with this machine. I've even become accustomed to Windows 8! :-)
Here's my issue: When the machine is in Sleep Mode, the USB Ports seem to go into a reduced power state. I want to charge my Iphones. etc., but the USB Ports (which will charge it normally) will stop charging in Sleep Mode.
I know that there is SOME power to the ports during sleep mode, because I have an LED Backlit Keyboard, and THAT remains lit during sleep mode. So, presumably, the USB Ports are going into some sort of "reduced power state" on System Sleep.
I have made (what I think), are all the proper OS changes (usb controllers are set to not allow the PC to turn off the usb, (box unchecked) and the usb selective suspend mode in advanced power settings is set to disabled). I'm also using the High Performance Power Plan. I see NO option for USB Power in the BIOS.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the USB Ports on Full Power during system sleep. I know this can be done on many Windows Systems, as I have colleagues who do it regularly.
    TIA! :-)

    hi LeonS,
    Can you try to:
    1. Press the Winkey+R > type devmgmt.msc
    2. On the Device Manager, navigate to Human Interface Devices
    3. Do a right click > properties on all HID-compliant device and USB input Device and enable Allow this device to wake the computer under the Power Management Tab.
    4. Close the device manager, put the computer to sleep and try to connect a gadget that supports USB charging
    Let me know your findings
    Cheers

  • Q190, no audio with HDMI

I purchased the Q190 with Windows 8 and upon connection to my Samsung smart TV via a HDMI cable I have no audio. picture is great but no sound anyone have the solution to this issue.

    hi Onetech,
Can you try uninstalling the Intel Display Driver under Device manager / Display adapter.
Make sure to place a check under a prompt asking to delte driver software for this device.
    Then reinstall it using this
Windows 8 64  Intel VGA Driver
Windows 8.1 64  Intel VGA Driver
also try using a diff HDMI Cable.
    See if that helps

    hi halessteve,

    Have you tried to:
    1. Update the display driver via the Intel® Driver Update Utility
    2. Use an HDMI 1.4 cable
    3. Tried another HDMI port on the TV (i.e. HDMI-1, HDMI-2, etc.) and switch the source accordingly

  • Q190 Windows 7 drivers don't work

Just received a pair of Q190s in the post and I immediately imaged them with our office's standard Win7 64 bit image. None of the Windows 7 drivers work. Not one. I ended up going to Realtek's site to get the NIC's driver. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Gilgamesh1082, welcome to the forum,
exactly what do you mean by "None of the Windows 7 drivers work"; you were able to find and download them but there were problems installing them?
Some drivers require a two stage installation, firstly the driver wil be extracted to a location and then needs to be installed from there.  If this were the case with the LAN driver it would have extracted to  c:\drivers\Realtek LAN Driver
Did you download them from the Q190 Driver Matrix?
