Q5 SIM Tray problem

Having had a number of problems with Q5, camera not working, IMAP problems etc, decided to take Q5 back to Virgin Media... on removing the SIM card the Nano SIM fell out of the Micro adapter, which then snagged and got caught on the Reader Pins rendering SIM Reader (and Phone) useless!!
Now need a new SIM tray, as Virgin kindly refuse to fix on warranty as saying my fault!
If anyone has had a SIM tray replaced, Q5 or other BB, then any advice greatfully accepted!
Thanks

Hi Nbrought
Welcome to http://supportforums.blackberry.com/
If your blackberry is still under warranty you must appeal by the warranty.
And so they MUST solucionarte your problem with the Q5.
Or take other legal actions.
Luck.

  • Sim tray fit problem.

Hi! I have an Iphone 4s it's bought in Croatia, Zagreb and everything is working fine but the sim tray is not flush with phone. Can I fix it or sould I take it to nearest apple service centar?

Take the Sim card out (see the manual) and then put it in again carefully and press it home completely. Does it still sticks out? Go to the apple service.

  • Blackberry Passport sim tray issue is prevalent and they will not fix it for you because it is your fault. Ridiculous.

I bought my Blackberry passport on Feb 13rd. Right out of the box the sim tray didn't read the sim. I thought it is my sim's problem, so I waited for another sim. New sim came in, still didn't read. After a long call with customer support and BB virtual support, I had my device sent in around mid March. They checked it and said I damaged the sim tray and I need to pay 268$ to have it fixed. I though it is ridiculous since I haven't done anything to the phone. So I argued with them and eventually they agreed to have my fixed without cost.
However when they sent me back the device, I poped in the sim and it only works for 1 day, on and off the second day and then not reading the sim at all after that. I think the sim tray's problem with the passport is prevalent and the pin can be broken by the simple act of poping in the sim card. My ATT sim is working perfectly fine on the 5s and my brother's iphone 6.
After 2 days of receiving the "repaired" device, I call them again and this time they said it is certainly my fault and if I send it in again, I will have to pay 268$ to have it fixed.
So I thought for people out ther if you have a passport, don't pop in and out the sim card. It can really easily be broken.
For me, I think now I just gonna use my "broken sim tray new passport" as a reading device. After 10 years, I will officially switch to other brand. Still love the keyboard though, but anyway.

Check that your sim card does not have a burr or edge on it before you insert it, as that may be what's damaging the SIM pins.
Site anly allow linlks to web images, so here's what the tray is supposed to look like - with the SIM cover on.
FWIW - a T3 torx driver is required to remove the screws around the SIM  and TF card tray cover. That would allow you to look at the underlying pins - and possibly - with a bit of luck, fix them on your own.

  • Help!! Iphone's sim tray got stuck in slot

Accidentally, I inserted the sim tray in wrong way. Now I can't get it out of slot. This IPhone still in warranty, which got the contract with optus 8 month ago.
So I am just wondering where I can fix this problem, optus or apple store. Do I need to pay for this?

Make an appointment at the genius Bar At your local Apple store you can do this online here: http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/

  • Broken Sim Tray - No receipt

    Hello all,
I've enjoyed my Z10 for a few weeks now but I encountered a big problem now. After switching from my nano simcard with sim adapter to the regular (and new) micro sim no sim card is being recognized. A friend of my told me this could be because of the pins inside the sim tray / sim card holder are broken. After checking this it appears that indeed for at least one pin is missing / broken.
I am trying to getting this fixed but I haven't got a receipt / ticket (Sorry, I don't know the proper word for it). Here in Holland manufacturers have to accept the product if it is returned for any damage within I believe 6 months. It does not mean that it should be fixed or anything but they at least have to figure out a solution. But I can't reach RIM / BlackBerry in any way.
Besides that I want to know if there is still any warranty and if so, does a broken sim tray get fixed within warranty?
Can anyone help me on this?
    Thank you in advance.

  • IPhone 3G Sim Tray

On my iPhone I inserted the SIM Card tray the wrong way, and it got stuck. I tried to take it out [insert the opening tool etc]...
I managed to force it out but the bottom of the tray is missing! It is still in the iPhone!
What do I need to do? Send it to the Apple Store or what? I purchased it from a shop in France which gave me a guarantee.

Well this is end user damage and not covered by any warranty, but you are in luck that Apple store have sim trays in stock. They will have to open your iPhone up to get the pieces out I am afraid. I would suggest you not go probing around in there with any thing. That could make the problem way worse. You next move should be straight to the Apple store.
Now that I have seen this issue more than once I am wondering how a person does this. The sim tray has an obvious outside, and the tiny hole goes next to the headphone jack. If you are going to take something apart you should inspect it before hand to ensure you put it back as it was in the first place.

  • Can't Open micro SIM tray on iPad 2

I was going to change the micro SIM card from my iPad to my new iPad2. I was able to open the SIM tray on the iPad with no problem, but on the iPad2 the SIM tray tool acts as if it's too big and won't go completely in the hole. I tried one from my iPhone and it's the same thing. Is anyone else having this issue?

    Hi Lincurt
The design is slightly different. Put iPad2 face down (use towel or something to protect screen if you don't have a Smart Cover or the like). Don't insert the Sim tool in sideways, but rather at a slight angle to follow the curve of the back.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 5 Sim Tray Material?

    Hi,
i have a question to the iPhone 5 Sim Tray.
My problem is that my provider can't deliver Nano-SIMs.
He mean it is possible at January 2013.
So now i cutted my Sim from Micro to Nano.
It works great in my iPhone 4.
But now comes the big question.
I think the iPhone 5 Sim Tray is a metal tray.
Could i have short circuits when i insert the cutted sim in the iPhone 5 Tray?
Or has the tray a isolation like the iPhone 4 tray?
I hope anybody can help me.
    Thanks.

iPhone 5 confirmed to use nano-SIM, current SIMs not compatible.
The "Micro SIM" is too thick to fit in the iPhone 5.

    http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/buying-advice/mobile-phone/3380824/apple-iphone-5-nan o-sim-what-you-need-know/
But the difference in thickness, even just 0.09mm, may cause problems when a cut-down micro-SIM is inserted into an aperture designed for a nano-SIM.
I knop that 0.09 mm is not a large difference in thickness, but will add up to be too thick if you try "jamming" one in the iPhone 5.

  • Sim tray won't shut

IPhone 5 sim tray won't shut. Where can I go to fix it?

    Hello
I have exactly the same problem. Have you found a solution?

  • My brother purchased new ipad 4, 5 days ago and the sim tray stuck very first day. I gave it to jaipur service centre for repair and they are asking for 20000 Rs (price of ipad mini for just sim tray repair). What should i do?

    Dear All,
My brother just purchased an ipad4, 5 days ago and the very first day sim tray stuck. When i sent it to jaipur (rajasthan) service centre, they asked Rs 20,000 for repair and issuing new tray. This is the cost of new ipad mini, and they are giving me just one tray. It is also approx. half of the price of new ipad4. Even the new ipad is just 5 days old and should be repaired for free. If not free, is Rs 20,000 is fair?
Please tell me what should i do?
    Thanks!
    [email protected]

If the service center determined that the SIM socket was damaged by your brother, as would appear to be the case, and not due to a factory defect, they will charge for replacing the entire iPad, not just for the SIM tray. Apple at this time replaces the iPad for just about any problem, and charges a flat fee for doing so.
If this service center is one authorized by Apple, your brother can try calling Apple Support India at (91) 1800 4250 744 and discussing the situation with them. Ultimately, though, it is the technician's judgement as to what caused the problem, and Apple will usually take the word of the technician when it comes to determination of user-caused damage.
    Regards.

  • Noise coming from sim tray area.

I have an iPad 2 wifi+3g and check the sim tray to make sure it had a sim card in it.  Now I'm noticing a slight rattling sound coming from that area.  Maybe it was always there i'm not sure.  Has anyone else noticed that and do I have a serious problem?

    Hi,
My iPad 2 3G is making the Same Noise. I figured out, where the noise is coming from.
It's not the SIM Card or tray, it's the mechanism to open the Slot. Put the tool or a paper clip in this little hole and shake your iPad again. The rattling noise will be away.
