Hi all,
Can we install the .NET Application Server and IIS Web Server for Dev & QA system on the same hardware box? or do we need to use two different hardware box?

You mean like having diferent instances of the same program in the same machine?, if so, then i´m not sure if that it´s possible, maybe you can have a virtual servers that can be in the same machine and will help you to have the enviorements!!!!.

I have found a lot of threads here, but no one help me.
The parameter idleStart is configured to false.
I try to keep BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME and JDK_HOME_PATHS as default, and try to set to java 6.
The build variant in CMS was configured too.
After the changes i restated the CBS service and try to import again in DEV system. But nothing happens.
If i import just one or all the components, it get a long time and catch the error showed above.
I have restarted the server a lot of time too.
Can someone have any idea how to fiz it?

Hi Marcos,
changing the domain user might have consequences, please take a look at the note:

What I suggest in short is this:
1. restart the server
2. once the server is up and running, re-save the track in question in cms webui
3. restore system state on dev and cons tabs of cms webui
4. trigger first re-import of SCs on dev tab (import SCs one by one, and do not care of broken DCs until everything is imported).
When I mean one by one I mean that you select an SC on developent tab of the cms webui, press Import, wait what happens to it, and if it failed, let me know. If not, then select the next SC for import.
5. wait until it finishes (depending on the size of your development it can be hours, even up to 4 hours).
If you still got long import and broken DCs, then let me know, this case also take a look at the
1. Import logs which is usually at /usr/sap/JTrans/CMS/log/*
Notice, this can be different in your case, check the location of the transport folder under the CMS WebUI (/devinf – Landscape Configurator – Domain Data Tab)
2. the latest defaultTrace you find at
-...\j2ee\cluster\server<n>\log\defaultTrace.<n>.trc

Error in import-check of ESS SC in dev system CMS

Hi all,
Im facing some error msgs while performing an import-check of the ESS SC in Dev system of cms. i had no probs in importing other scs for sap-jtech, pcui_gp and others. i downladed ESS 600 SP 10 frm servicemktplace. however the file downloads as a .zip file. after placing this zip file in the cms\inbox folder, i was unable to view the sc in cms/check-iin..i tried renaming the file to .sca. i was then able to view the SC in check-in..my qn is what is the right procedure to convert the .zip -->.sca? i did not encounter this issue when downloading the other files like pcui_gp, they saved as .sca files...would really appreciate any inputs on this. Thanks!

Instead of renaming the zip file to sca, try unzipping the file. It might contain the SCA you are looking for.

How to import corrections in to DEV system ?

Hi All,
I have to apply the corrections for FI module to my DEV system.
FI Consultant has downloaded that SAP NOTE in to DEV system thru SNOTE, and its status = can be implemented.
NOTE = 1015410 has SAR files as attachements and I have downloaded the corrections [SAR files].
The correctin is for = "Additional Field added for withholding tax codes"
It has 3 SAR files which contains some new Screens and Screen Elements introduced in the Program = J_1IEWT_PROVISIONS.
In the Note = 1015410, it is mentioned that " to apply SAR files, refer to Related notes= 480180,13719. "
Note 480180 says that if it is a correction, " you must follow the installation instructions in the long text of the
respective SAP note in order to implement the correction in your system ".
In the NOTE - 13719, it says we need to open the ftp connection to sapservX [userid/pswd=sapservX] and download the data,
cofiles ?
Iam not sure how we can do this.
And i have Uncared the 3 SAR files and i got the following files :

K087494.P7D
R087494.P7D
K906169.Q3A
R906169.Q3A
In the R/3 DEV server, in /usr/sap/trans,i have a old SAR file = TDS_SAPScript_470.SAR. It had 2 files in it =

R209581.P6B - data file
And K209581.P6B is found in /usr/sap/trans/cofiles/
But R209581.P6B is not found.
Does this means that i have to copy the files of the SAR files to /usr/sap/trans/cofiles/ and /usr/sap/trans/data/ ???
Do i have to copy these files to /usr/sap/trans, and then " tp ADDTOBUFFER ","tp Import ".
And if i go to correction instruction in the SAP NOTE, i have a Transport Request = CVDK003805 in it. Now what do i have to
do with that ?
I have access to OS [hp unix] as root user and also i got access SAP in 000 client.
Please guide me how i can apply these corrections.

i tried to do this, iam getting err msg...wht shud i check now.

Also i have a cofile which i got after UNCAR, which has the same number as that of an existing one....how to copy it now with out overwriting ?

BI Portal is not displaying Dashboard while Executing from BI Dev System

I have created Dashboard based on Bex Query using SAP Netweaver Connection and published it to BI Dev System.
it was running good but past 3-4 days it is not working.
When I am executing it from BI Dev its not showing the output in BI portal.
its only show initializing part of dashboard.

has your bex query changed that the dashboard is sourcing its data from? if so, and you have set the connection to "refresh before components load" it will sit at this state until it times out (error handeling is not great). perhaps worth dropping a refresh button in an trying it without refresh on open - this will rule out (or in) a problem with the data connection.

I had some requirement from SapHR they want to do some Holiday calender changes in Sap Level.
and we have only Test Role client in our Dev System. They want me to change the Client Role from Test to Customizing Client.
Kindly let me know if Client Role is changes from TEST to CUSTOMIZING. is there any inconsistany in TMS.

Hi,
Run BDLS to change the source system assn. Then check to see if all your transfer structures are active and also your source system is now the correct one. Easiest way is to goto RSA7 on the src system and see where the system is pointing to.

This info may be helpful.
You need to test if the extractions are working fine, data is getting loaded into targets, post load activities like activation, rollup, compression etc are successfull etc.
We test the PC chains also.
We schedule / trigger the chains and monitor them. We ensure that all the process types are happening successfully.
Also in cases where we use events/third party shceduling tools to trigger BW chains we check that out.
Executing reports to check the definitions are correct.
The volume of data will be lesser in Quality compared to Prod.
Also activities like Change runs,Deletion , Selective deletion etc are done.
Also make sure the V3 jobs in source, all other shceduled jobs are reshceduled if they were removed from scheduling.

Process chain transport in BI7.0 from DEV system to PROD system

Hi experts,
I have to create a process chain of master data loading, and i have created the process chain in DEV system, now i want the same in the production system, can you please suggest me which way i do
1) create the same process chain in Production system directly or,
2) should i transport the same process chain to production system, i created in the development system.
and please tell me that what kind of problems in future i will face by following the above steps when the project will be in support state.

It is always advisable to transport the process chain from DEV to Production. You can just do this by simply gather all the necessary objects for process chain into your transport.
During the support phase, you have to monitor the data load through process chain. That can be done via transaction code rspcm. In case there is any error in the process chain ( various errors can be there, data loading error, delta error). In that case you have to go to the step of the process chain when the error occurs (it will be marked as red) , rectify the error and process the step manually at the point so that the following process finishes.
Hope this is clear now.

Linking two DEV systems

Hi gurus,
We got two DEV systems ("DEV old", "DEV new"). Basically "DEV new" is the copy of "DEV old". They copied the system about 3 months ago. During this period of time, we still developed on "DEV old". Now we were told to move to "DEV new". They said they've setup the transport connection. I need to do a little thing in DEV new before I can transport from "DEV old" to "DEV new".
Can anyone tell me what to do? Thanks!

If you are asking for steps to create a request then go to transport connections -> select the necessary objects to be transported -> drag & drop on RHS then select only necessary info objects & manual & click on package .
once its done then go to se09 then select your request & release .

Custome Tcode is not working in QA system but working in DEV system

Hello,
We have copied QM11 tacode to ZQM11. We found this ZQM11 tcode is not working in QA system, but properly working in DEV system. When we are execute this tcode from QA system with all required input, it says
"No objects could be selected that met your selection criteria."
But when do it in DEV system it is working fine. I have done following steps to check error
1) All authorizations are good
2) I have compared E070 and E071 table to found transport done with proper way.
3) I have checked SE93, tcode condition is good.
4) SE97 -->found call transaction is QM11 for ZQM11
5) From program code level Authority check maintained properly.
AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'Q_QMEL'
             ID 'QMART'    FIELD I_QMART
             ID 'TCD'      FIELD I_TCODE
             ID 'WERKS'    DUMMY.
6) Performed authorization trace to found error agains object Q_QMEL (RC =4), but in the role Q_QMEL has define with it's proper value supplied by our functional team.
7) Shows all active object in SU24 against ZQM11 are good
8) When we call tcode it has thrown the error agains Q_QMEL only
I am not able to understand why does not work this tcode in QA system, although working in DEV is good.
Please help me to resolve this issue

Bieng declared $WERKS field as DUMMY, is not relevant, so no matter its value, it will pass..
There's a catch! If even DUMMY means literally that no matter user has any value, he is still authorized but in reality for such \fields authorization check is only successful when a value ' ' or * is found in user's authorization else it errors out.
Sorry confused with programs where AUTHORITY-CHECK has ' ' coded instead of DUMMY. You are right, DUMMY specified for as field would pass authorization check with any/no value in user's authorization. Please ignore my statement

Client strategy for DEV system in an implementation proj

Hi,
Can some one advise a good client strategy for an impl project? here's and example and questions i have. if you have a better strategy, pls advise. We want to follow this on ECC 6 DEV system -
10 - Sandbox (play around before doing config - no transports)
20 - Golden client (do real config here, and do development here - transports will start from here)
30 - Test client (for SCC1 testing)
I am assuming I should do DEVELOPMENT in the same golden client - does that make sense? Else, which should i have a new client? in that case, how will transports move?

Our customer has similar setup:
100 - Sandpit
200 - Dev and Cust
300 - Testing
400 - Sandpit 2
Whenever we need to do any unit tests in client 300, we copy over customizing by using SCC1 transaction (client copy via transport request).
For example whatever development (code or customizing) we do in 200 is copied over to 300 by SCC1. This ensures the client dependent customizing is in sync with client 300 without destroying data.
Also, periodically we refresh client 100 and 400 and with data and customizing from 300. No development client independent changes are possible in the sandpit and testing clients.

BADI not found in QA System after transporting from DEV system

Hi,
I had created a new implementation ZHR_IN_CALC_PTX_AMT to the BADI: HR_IN_CALC_PTX_AMT in the DEV system with Request ID. But when i had transported that request, i am not able to find that BADI implementation in SE18 and SE19 respectively in Quality system.
Please suggest me on this, as this is urgent.

Can you pls repeat the BADI Definition name? I couldn't find HR_IN_CALC_PTX_AMT in SAP versions 4.7, 5.0 and 6.0. Which is the version you use for development?

Creating a new DEV system with the QAS configuration

Hi there,
We're planning to have a contingency server and then, a new server has been bought and will be a new DEV system.
We would like to have a copy of our QAS system (but only configuration) so that we can create the DEV system.
What could be a good plan for that?!
I thought exporting the QAS client and after restoring the backup of DEV system into the new server, importing the QAS client.
Is there any other idea?!

You can install the new system refresh with Dev data and import the custom settings of QAS.
I hope already whatever is in QAS should be also in DEV in fact more than QAS data.

Master role-derive role concept and FICO role in dev system!!!

I have created a master role with t-codes

also included object PLOG where maintained org data
and created a derived role from that master role and generated from the master role.
After that I wanted to change the org level but the system is not allowing me to change, although I selected the values from the F4 screen.
Now I want to maintain seperate org value of each of the derived role...and when adjusted from the master role..these maitained value should not vanished.
How should I proceed???
I have another issue....I am now in Dev system....I need to create a role with FICO module with SPRO....
Should I go ahead and cread a role and assign FICO block and assign SPRO...will that be sufficient??

Yes, It seems that you have broken the org level by directly making changes in the org level field inside pfcg.
One way to correct this is to regenerate the role in expert mode by selecting the option 'Delete and recreate profile and authorizations' (in case you want to correct it for all the org level fields.).
If you want only for PLOG, then delete this object and add again. Then go to organization level tab at the top and give the required value. Do this in the master role and generate and push the changes to derived role. Now, goto derived role and make the org level change the same way you did for parent role..
For your second question, you will have to see what all auth objects are being checked by SPRO for a FICO module assosciate. You can create a test role with SPRO in it and then do authorization trace through ST01 to see what all objects are checked when they work.

CE 7.30, CM Services/CTS+: Error when creating DEV system in STMS

first of all: Happy new year
This is our scenario:
CM Services are running under CE 7.30 and CTS+ is running on PI 7.11 system (Support Package 7).
I followed this guide to configure CTS+ on our PI 7.11 system:

When we create the DEV system in STMS, we tick the checkbox "Development configuration" and give the URL to the SLD of our CE system (http://sapt62.xxx.com:56200/sld/).
But when the changes are distributed (I guess that's the time when the CM development configuration is created in the CE system), we get the following error message:
com.sap.di.cts.config.service.core.exception.DIConfReadNameServerException: "Unable to read name server from landscape directory "http://sapt62.xxx.com:56200/sld" using user "NWDI_CMSADM" [DICONF_READNAMESERVER]: Received response is not a CIM Operation Response! Check "http://sapt62.xxx.com:56200/sld/" is the correct URL for the SLD CIM Object Manager (default is "http://sapt62.xxx.com:56200/sld/cimom") and that user "NWDI_CMSADM" has access to the SLD via http and is not required to change his/her password.
What can be the reason for that?
The password for user NWDI_CMSADM is configured correctly on the CTS+ system.
Could it be that the username/password for NWDI_CMSADM is configured somewhere in SLD?
After the DEV system has been created we click on the "Development Configuration" button in STMS, the browser pops up with the CM Services and the following message:

I've seen now that a Development configuration has been created in our CE system.
But I cannot open it from STMS on our CTS+ system, because it gives me the "Missing application ID" message in the popping up browser.
Is that normal?
Another thing I've discovered:
When I try to use the "Synchronize service" functionality for my CTS Dev Conf to load the missing SCA files, I always get this message when I click on "next":
Failed to process the request: Request refers to an unknown session
When I use the "Import service" instead, it gives me a NullPointer exception:
java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.lang.String.hashCode() of an object loaded from field com.sap.engine.session.AbstractSessionHolder.sessionId of an object loaded from local variable 'this'

How to map BW DEV system to new R3 system

I need to map our BW DEV system to a new R3 system. Currently, BW DEV is connected to the R3 Client 200 and we need to map to R3 Client 300.
I created the Source system for Client 300 in BW and replicated the DataSources.
Is there a way to get all the transfer rules and infopackages that are setup for Client 200 moved to Client 300?

I've another suggestion. Try this:
Why don't you simply change the client in the RFC-connection (SM59) of your source system in BW? You don't need the connection to client 200 anymore, don't you?
