QA Testing and transport to PROD

Can anyone explain in detail the steps involved in QA testing till transport to PROD.
objects are : new report , new table , zFM
Is there anything specific to be done in QA for new tables.Or it can simply be transported.
Is there anything to be done after transport to PROD.
what all should be done in QA Testing?pls explain with terms involved(variants etc.)

for report and FM nothing specific...
for Tables... first the request of the structure need to be moved and then the table contents... else the other way... the transport will fails..

Missed get delta once option in dtp and transported to prod

hi all
we have transported DTP for our infocube 0wbs_c11 into production.
This infocube 0wbs_c11 is loaded from 4 datasources of which one datasource supports delta and rest donot.
so in process chains we are using the option for delete overlapping requests. for all the 3 datasources which doesnot support delta.
But for one of these 3 datasources we have transported DTP without ticking GET DELTA ONCE OPTION AND loaded to infocube.
now we should tick the get delta once option and transport it to production, where we already ran this dtp once.
Since we cannot enable the get delta once option enabled in dtp after the first dtp run
my question is should i delete the request from infocube and transport the dtp transport request (to prod )with getdelta once option ticked and run the dtp again will it work.
or do i need to delete the request as well as dtp from prod and then transport the new request with delta once option ticked.

based on the above link which says after activating transformations using the program rsdg_trfn_activate if we run process chain the dtp's get activated by itself
i have done a trial based on the above point
i went to dtp execute tab and press execute ,and when it asks me for furthur process
YES NO CANCEL
I have cancelled the execution of dtp.
and now when i refresh the tree the dtp is seen active .
i followe the same for all.

Install BI Content on Test and Transport

Hi,
how do you make sure that something that works on your testsystem will also work on the
production system? For example if I install some objects from BI Content, and everything works fine on the test system, and now I transport these few installed objects on production system how do I know if everything else was transported before?
I mean I can compare both systems, but then I have to check each object on test and production system
to know if everything was transported before...Am I wrong?

Developing Roles and transport strategy.

Hello,
I need to finalize the Role development Plan.
I am not sure where do we built , test and transport roles to production.
I am thinking of developing roles in development in dev in a seperate clint . This clint will be copy of golde client.
Then this roles will be tested in quality and finally send to production.
Hence forth any changed to role will go thourh same cycle.
Please suggest !!!

Thats a imp point th to my that you have bought to my notice. Are there any coustomizing such no range and stuff that can not be transported?
I wonder if its the case then all coustomizinf will be need to be done in QUA and PRD system seperately as well.
Also one thing i would like to mention is that I am trying to avoid development of roles on Actual devement client cause I am afraid of hamppering the coustoming data which developing roles . Cause most of my development of roles will take place by trial and error method .
So I am aprehensive to use development cline and find alternatives

I have already tried with Query Designer --> open Queries .... there were no queries and even i am unable to find infoarea's (but i can see the infoarea's in RSA1) and searched with Metadata Repository.. there were no queries

How to set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment?

We have used BI publisher Enterprise (standalone), Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.1. Our admin set up DEV, TEST and PROD environment based on the folder. For example, there is DEV folder, TEST folder and PROD folder. Developer is developing reports under DEV folder. Under TEST and PROD folder, there are many sub-folder based on the login user role. Sometimes a report has to be assigned to a multiple sub-folder under PROD. So our admin create symbolic links in the Linux box which BI server is located. That way, if a report is updated, there is no need to update the report in all sub-folder.
The issue I have is we are not allowed to touch any files under TEST/PROD folder. Only admin will move the report from DEV folder to TEST/PROD folder because those links admin created might be broken. However, as a developer, we still have permission to delete/rename/copy report under those restricted folders. Yesterday one report under PROD has been renamed by a developer. And admin complains because the links he has created not working anymore. Just wonder if admin doesn't allow developers to touch the reports under those folders, is there a way to remove the write permission on those folders? Also do you think this is a good practice to set up DEV, TESDT and PROD environment? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Probelms while replicating Data Source and transport into test system

I find the following error messages whilre transporting into test system.
DataSource 0EC_PCA_1 does not exist in source system of version A.
Mapping between data source 0EC_PCA_1 and source system is inconsistent.
DataSource 0EC_PCA_1 does not exist in source system of version A.
Field AFABE will not be delivered from DataSource 0EC_PCA_1 in source system.

Enhanced the Extract structure and activated the data source in Source system
Replicate the Data source in BI and install the Infosource through BI Content activated and transport them to Test system.

Hi,
1.First transport the data source from R/3 dev to R/3 quality
2.Replicate the data source in BI Quality ( make sure you that in the data source tab, you are searching the data source below the appropriate source system ---otherwise you data source may not appear)
3.goto rsd1in BI development for activataing the info objects which you have added extra in the info source (z info objects )
activate these info objects and collect in another request
4.transport these info objects from BI dev to BI quality
5.transport entire data source to bw quality.

ODI Objects Migration from Dev to Test and Prod Enviornments

Hi ,
Can someone please advise the order of the steps that have to be followed for ODI code migration form Development to Test and Prod Environments ?
Below are the Details ,
ODI Version : 11.1.1.6.0
Development Environment : 1 Master Repository (M1) and 1 Work Repository
Test Environment : 1 Master Repository (M2) and 1 Execution Repository
Prod Environment : 1 Master Repository ( M2) and 1 Execution Repository
Test and Prod environments are on the same master Repository.

How to transport a ABAP program to Test and Production?

I created a ABAP program and used in a Process chain. I did transport to Testing system. I got an error message that program didn't not find when I was trying to run that Process Chain.
How can collect the Program and transport it again? Thanks!

steps required.
1) find the name of the program
2) collect it in the transport request.
1)go to the process chains maintaincne and right click on the abap process > to the maintaince screen and note down the name of the program
2) go to se37 type in the program name > display > menu > goto > object directory entry.
3) go to se10 > request and check the attributes of the object >
r3tr-fugr- ( package name ) > select the request and release it.

Can I change my development instance DV1 to DV2 and send transports to prod

We have several divisions and want to pgrade our landscape specifically ERP ECC to EHP6 after ramp-up is finished. We will leave our DV1 instance which is our development and QV1 Test and copy those two to DV2 and QV2 for the EHP6 upgrade.
Production will not be copied but will be upgraded after DV2 and QV2 are upgraded. Is there an issue with transport coming out of DV2 and going to our PV1 production instance.
Originally our PV1 instance recieved transports from DV1 but now they will be from DV2, is there an issue with the version in production or any issues with object versioning?

- Once DV2 and QV2 are ready, you have to define transport routes to PV1 in DV2.
Originally our PV1 instance recieved transports from DV1 but now they will be from DV2, is there an issue with the version in production or any issues with object versioning?
- Should not be a problem. Please make sure you disabled transport routes to PV1 from DV1/QV1.

1. created one temporary table and searched for duplicate records because if any duplicates found am planning to delete those records. but didn't find any duplicates. searched for common column values using equi join condition. are there any possibilities in data mismatch apart from this?
2. this query is taking around 45 minutes to retrieve the output. I want to increase the performance of the query. so created Unique on 5 columns. but still taking the same time.
so uing ALL_ROW HINT and ran the query but still it's taking the same time.
so suggest me any thing needs to add to increase the performance?

If you can create a temporary database link between the two environments use DBMS_RECTIFIER_DIFF or DBMS_COMPARISON to compare the two tables' contents.

How to Setup 3 different environments - Devp. Test and Prod. on same server

We have the following configuration -
Server 1 - Database - Oracle 9i Release 2
Server 2 - Middleware - Oracle 9i AS Release 2
Front-end - Developer 9i (FOrms 9i, Reports 9i)
All the servers and PCs have Win 2K.
We have only one Application Server, on which Forms Services and Business Intelligence have been setup.
Can we have three environments - Development, Test and Production configured on the same Application Server (Server 2) ?
What we expect is like this -
User will specify URL of starting form on his broswer and as per the URL, the application will run form from one of the three environments mentioned above.

except for the tmp and temp directories.
And even I changed them from System Properties >> Advanced >> Environment Variable under User variable for Administrator and System variables , the problem still exist Os User and Group Check .

How to remove Variable-Values prior to transporting to prod-system?

Hi specialists,
I've got the following problem:
We've got a mixed BEx-client-environment with user using BEx 3.5 as well as BEx 7.x.
So I create workbooks with BEx-Analyzer 3.5 and transport them from the developement-system to the production-system.
The problem: Obviously the variable-selection that I used at last in the developement-system is saved in the workbook. So let's say I tested the query in the dev-system with "DE01" as value for the company_code on the variable screen, then this value is saved in the workbook and transported to the prod-system.
In the production-system the value is not replaced anymore by the users permitted company-code values (the variable is based on the users permissions), but the user has to remove this "DE01" manually and has to enter all his personal company-codes manually - which makes the permission-bases-variable senseless.
Even if I clear all variable-values in the developement system (which is not possible for mandatory variables) prior to saving the workbook, the issue is the same: This time empty fields are presented in the prod-system, but the permission-based-variable isn't set correctly - the field stays empty (=exactly as it was when I saved the workbook in the dev-system).
So, how can I clear the variable-screen-values before I save and transport the workbook to the prod-system? The only way (and it is certainly not the recommended one) i found: If I cancel the query at once after having confirmed the variable-screen and save/transport that query, then the variables seem to be really empty and the permission-based variables in the prod-system work.

So, when user run the report in production, they will have to remove # for mandatory variables and put thier value.
Mh - most of our reports have variables for "company_code","sales_org" (for example).
Normaly this fields are not mandatory but optional.
But: Normaly if the user opens such a variable-screen (for the first time) the company_code and sales_org are preset according to the users permissions for this chars.
If I follow your description, then the variable-screen would open with "#" or "" - but wouldn't be replaced by the user's permitted values anymore :/ - hence the phone rings because the users didn't manage to restrict the variables to their permitted values.
Maybe this is a case for an oss-message for the area BW-BEX-ET-USAB Userability Frontend....

I think as a BW user , you are supposed to do a application level checkout of the systems after BASIS finished the update.
Application level checkout is done to make sure that the connections between source systems, between BI (dev, test, prod) systems.
Application level check usually requires you to confirm to BASIS regarding ALE , TRFC level communications between systems.
A simple test would be to execute a simple known infopackage and verify the data from source systems. This verifies the conncetion between source and BI systems.
A transport between BI systems checks connections between them. Make sure that u donot transport into production before testing in CONS.
