QALoad and Siebel testing automation

I'm working on a project where we would like to use QALoad, the customer's standard, with Siebel. So far, we've been able to easily record a simple script where the user creates a new record and saves it. The saved script can be run without any error messages. However, no new record is created.
Has anyone ever used QALoad with Siebel and can they reach out through this forum or by sending me an email at [email protected]
Thanks,
Marc

Adobe's been offputtingly silent on the subject. Anyone
interested should check this thread on flexcoders (
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/flexcoders/message/66918),
which goes into some detail about the license restrictions on the
mx.automation package; a few other alternatives are also discussed.
Marc, from a cursory overview it looks to me like
TestComplete would only be able to simulate keyboard and mouse
events when dealing with the Flash Player--is that true? That can
lead to a pretty brittle automated test environment, because simple
layout changes (which aren't bugs) can really mess up a bunch of
test scripts.

  • Siebel Test Automation - Anonymous user

    Hi,
We have integrated siebel 8.1.1.7 callcenter_enu AOM with LDAP for authentication of user authentication and are trying to use the same AOM for Test Automation.
change param EnableAutomation=True for comp XX
change param AllowAnonUsers=True for comp XX
    When we hit the url
    http://hostname/callcenter_enu/start.swe?SWECmd=AutoOn
We could see that the user logged into the system is the anonymous user instead of the actual user being used.
When we do the same with DB authentication AOM, the actual user logs into the system which is as expected.
Could you please let me know how can we set the actual user to logon in LDAP Authenticated AOM.
    Regards,
    Ajay

    Hi
Indeed it is, you need to enable Siebel Test Automation in the Siebel server.

  • Siebel Testing. Cookie handling, cookie load balancing and authentication.

We are delivering a PoC in a big Siebel customer and we are finding some issues.
    Environment information is:
    - Siebel testing, version 8.
    - NTLM Windows authentication.
When we create a Siebel Load script, recording works fine. Replaying the script, after adding the Authentication function, does not work
When we create a Web Load Script with the same structure and business process, after adding the Authentication function, it works.
Looking at the difference between Web and Siebel scripts, only difference are a couple of cookies that Web script considers and Siebel does not. This two cookies are added in the second call of the NTLM handshake requests (two requests with 401 http code and a final with a 200 http code). The application, in the first NTLM handshake request, ask the browser to add a couple of cookies that the browser (and OLT in a web load script) add. Siebel load script does not add/handle this cookies.
Accordingly, the script works with web module but does not work with Siebel module.
Right now we only have two options to make Siebel work:
    - Change the DNS address to point to a single node for the application, instead of pointing to the load balancing service. This way, cookies are not needed and the script does not fail.
    - Add the cookies by hand. This way, cookie content is "hardcoded" and, so, it will not be useful for load balancing purposes, which lead us to previous bullet. Load testing using Siebel will not work load balanced.
I added a web script (works fine with no tweaking) and a Siebel script executed with normal configuration (does not work) and workaround (avoiding the load balancing cookies- it works).
    Many thanks for the help,
    Iván.

    Álex,
Thank you a lot, I will call you related to other issue also. Thanks for the kind help!.
IMHO, it works or not depending on cookies added for load balancing. Siebel module does not specifically add these cookies, while web module does. If you delete the cookies from the web module, it stops working, so I guess the cookies are making/breaking the script.
I will send you the scripts, so you can have a look.
    Thanks,
    Iván.

  • Installation of OPA 10.4.3 and Siebel 8.2.2.2 webservice authentication issue

We are working with OPA 10.4.3 and Siebel 8.2.2.2.  We have installed Siebel, and OPA.  We followed the procedures to put in all the integration parameters.  However, when we try and run the WD Smoke Test button, the popup shows a Error 500.  upon further examination, we have found that despite using Siebel eai anon services, we are receiving an authentication error suggesting that the Username and password need to be passed in the header of the soap message to Siebel.
Can someone please point me to the specific documentation of how to fix this and get it working?
    Thank you.
    Sam

    Sam,
You do need to pass user name and password details when connecting, even with the Siebel eai anon services.
You need to modify the file named "siebel-data-adapter.properties in the WEB-INF/classes/configuration directory of the web application.
You can find details of this in the "Modify the siebel-data-adapter.properties" section of the Oracle Policy Automation Connector for Siebel Installation Guide

  • I am seeking information on thermal cycle testing automation.

I am seeking information on thermal cycle testing automation. I am using Labview 7 to perform an 8 cycle thermal test with a performance test at -25C and 65C with an end-of-line test at the end of the 8 cycles. I am looking for a way to automate. I have the equipment to control the PLC temp. controller. I just need to know if anyone has encountered this type of test. Thanks.

    Hi Dennis,
Thanks a lot for your suggestion and example.Well I am finding bit hard to put all codes together. But I am sure that its doable with the technique you told.I am sending you my code for temperature controller which is basically PID based temperature controller and controls one temperature at a time. What I need is to put it in event structure which you used for your application and achieve three different setpoints which are controlled through this code of temperature controller for specified length of time.
I have also written code which you send it to me for different setpoints and dwell times. Finally what need to be done is to put these code together in order to achieve my goal.I am sending you all these codes,I hope they make sense to you.I will be highly thankful to you for providing me your help and suggestions in order to achive thermal cycling with labview. Thanks a lot for giving your valuable time on it.
    Please find attached codes.
    Take care

  • How to expose to test automation dynamically generated third party component

We need to expose to test automation extended check box (which is not our component), that is dynamically generated and works together with tree.
So, our application contains the  following code:
    import org.sepy.ui.CheckBoxExtended;
    checkBox = new CheckBoxExtended();
Then all properties of check boxes are set dynamically.
These check boxes are  used with the tree, to select  any of its nodes.
When using test automation tool (we are evaluating RiaTest), automation tool agent sees the tree, but it does not see checkboxes, and therefore selection  of tree node cannot be automated.
Is there any  way to make automation tool agent see this check box? There is a procedure for instrumenting custom components, but this is like third party component.
    Thanks,
    Miroslaw

I am beginning to think that there is no solution to my problem. Let me better define the problem:
    1. Automation tool does not see extended check box.
    2. The container of extended check box is standard tree (nothing to instrument).
    3. Extended check box is third party component which was derived from standard button, and not standard check box (theoretically nothing to instrument again).
    4. Extended check box was used in item renderer class of the tree.
Maybe elements used in item renderers cannot be exposed to automation tools (I have tried FlexMonkey and RiaTest, but they both failed)?

There is also TestComplete by AutomatedQA but it is of
limited usage because it is not mx.automation aware and in many
difficult cases reverts to dumb mouse X,Y recording.
And there is the upcoming RIATest that will be specifically

  • Script file for test automation.

I have a file “HPE3631A configure output.vi” (DC power supply). This file I downloaded from NI web for using control our DC power supply. I would like to use a script file that can automatically process and configure the output voltage, current parameter? I do not have to click mouse for change the voltage and current parameter. We would like use this script file as one of our test automation.
What format file can use as a script? Is any example file I can use as a reference (it does not have to be HPE3631A).

I don't have an example. You are free to create a script file in any format that you want. To give you a little help, say you have a comma separated file. The first field could be instrument address. The second field could be a function. This might be Initialize, Configure Voltage,Configure Trigger, etc. The following fields could be parameters that you pass. Some functions would require more parameters than others. Look at the number of functions in the driver and see if you want to duplicate them and how many parameters they require or whether you want to break some of them down into something smaller. When you've decided that, then you can determine how to read the file and parse out the commands. Do you want to do error checking here or someplace else? What I mean is, what if the file contains the word "Initilize" instead of "Initialize". What if a voltage parameter is out of bounds?
Like I mentioned, you could have a LabVIEW VI generate the script. Imagine a front panel text ring in which you have listed all of the various functions. If function b is selected, have logic that displays the correct number (and type) of other parameters required. When the selection is complete, click an OK button to display the new step in a table. A table is nothing more than a 2D string array so saving it to a file is then simple.

  • Using Delphi, and the InDesign automation object ("indesign

Using Delphi, and the InDesign automation object ("indesign.application"), I need to open a indd file, move to a bookmark and insert text or picture at that exact location. Any examples of such code I could start with?

    Hi Bill,
Sorry to be so late getting to this thread!
If you want to add something to a page, or find an object that's on a page, you need a reference to the page. Simply displaying the page with ShowBookmark won't give you a reference to the page--InDesign scripting, for the most part, doesn't rely on the selection and current view in the way that Word scripting does (this is a good thing, but that's a topic for another day).
You had to have a reference to a page to create the HyperlinkPageDestination that you used to create the bookmark--but, if not, you can get a reference to the page using (VBScript form):
Rem Given a reference to an instance of InDesign "myInDesign"...
    myInDesign.Bookmarks.Item("Description").ShowBookMark
    Set myPage = myInDesign.ActiveWindow.ActivePage
In general, though, you probably don't need the bookmark and the whole "ActiveWindow" construct--just use the reference to the page itself.
Now that you have a page, you can put things on the page.
    Rem Create a rectangle
    Set myRectangle = myPage.Rectangles.Add
Rem Size and position the rectangle
    myRectangle.GeometricBounds = Array("6p", "6p", "24p", "24p")
Rem Place a graphic in the rectangle
    myRectangle.Place "c:\test.tif"
If you have a text frame on the page that has the label "myLabel", you can get a reference to the text frame and add text:
    Set myTextFrames = myPage.TextFrames.Item("myLabel")
Rem myTextFrames will return an array--get the first item
    Set myTextFrame = myTextFrames(0)
Rem Replace the text in the text frame:
myTextFrame.Contents = "This is some text."
Rem Or add text to the end of the text frame:
myTextFrame.InsertionPoints.Item(-1).Contents = "This is some additional text."
If you know that there is only one text frame with the label "Description" in the entire document, you can even say:
    Set myTextFrames = myDocument.TextFrames.Item("myLabel")
Rem myTextFrames will return an array--get the first item
    Set myTextFrame = myTextFrames(0)
...to get to it directly. If, at that point, you want to get at the page containing the text frame (and assuming that the text frame is not in a group, pasted inside text, or pasted inside another page item), you can use:
    Set myPage = myTextFrame.Parent
Have you looked through the "Working with Documents" chapter of the InDesign CS3 Scripting Guide: VBScript and the associated scripts archive? I realize that you're using Delphi, but it doesn't look too difficult to convert from one to the other.
    Thanks,
    Ole
